IS THE CATHOLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM IN NORTHERN IRELAND CORRUPT?

IS THE CATHOLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM IN NORTHERN CORRUPT?

I BELIEVE THAT THE CATHOLIC EDUCATION SYSTEM IN NORTHERN IRELAND IS CORRUPT.

IF YOU WANT TO BE A TEACHER IN A NORTHERN IRELAND CATHOLIC SCHOOL THE FOLLOWING IS A BIG HELP:

1. YOUR UNCLES IS A PRIEST OR BETTER STILL A CANON OR A MONSIGNOR.

2. YOU ARE A MEMBER OF THE GAA - (GAELIC ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION)

3. YOU HAVE NO BACKBONE OR BALLS AND KEEP IN WITH THE CLERGY AND THE CATHOLIC SCHOOL CLIQUE.

4. YOU GO TO MASS AT LEAST EVERY SUNDAY AND MAKE SURE YOUR PARISH PRIEST SEES YOU THERE.

5. IF YOU ARE GAY OR SINGLE AND HAVING SEX YOU PRETEND YOU ARE CHASTE.

6. YOU MUST NEVER HAVE WORKED IN A STATE OR INTEGRATED SCHOOL.

I WAS A SCHOOL SECRETARY IN THE DIOCESE OF DOWN AND CONNOR. WHEN I STARTED BEING A SECRETARY MY PARISH PRIEST SHARED A "BLACK LIST" WITH ME OF TEACHERS I SHOULD NEVER GIVE A JOB TO.

I FOUGHT MY PARISH PRIEST AND COMMITTEE TOOTH AND NAIL AND I APPOINTED SEVERAL PEOPLE TO VACANCIES.

FOR DOING SO I WAS AS WELCOME AT COMMITTEE MEETING AS A PIN IN A CONDOM FACTORY.

IN THE CATHOLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM PEOPLE DO NOT GET APPOINTED ON MERIT OR EXPERIENCE.

THEY GET APPOINTED ON THE BASIS OF WHO THEY KNOW AND IF THEIR FACE FITS.

I KNOW ONE TEACHER AT THE MOMENT WHOSE JOB IN UNDER THREAT BECAUSE THEIR FACE DOES NOT FIT.

THANKFULLY THIS TEACHER IS VERY BRAVE AND HAS STRONG BACKING AND WILL FIGHT THEIR CASE ALL THE WAY TO EUROPE IF THEY SUFFER AN INJUSTICE.

IN THIS TEACHER'S CASE CLERGY AND OTHERS HAVE HAD SECRET MEETINGS TO PLAN THEIR DOWNFALL.

THANKFULLY ONE OF THE PEOPLE CONSULTED HAS GIVEN THIS TEACHER VERY EXPLOSIVE INFORMATION WHICH THEY WILL USE IF THEY HAVE TO.

I'M SURE THERE IS CORRUPTION IN STATE AND INTEGRATED EDUCATION TOO.

BUT THERE IS SOMETHING ESPECIALLY WRONG ABOUT CORRUPTION IN THE CATHOLIC SECTOR BECAUSE WE CATHOLIC CHRISTIANS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT LOVE, CHARITY AND JUSTICE.

IF I WAS IN CHARGE OF POLITICS IN NORTHERN IRELAND THERE WOULD ONLY BE ONE EDUCATION SYSTEM - A STATE ONE.

ANY CHURCH OR RELIGION WHO WANTED TO RUN THEIR OWN SCHOOLS WOULD BE ALLOWED TO DO SO - BUT LIKE IN THE USA THEY WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT THEMSELVES.

"CATHOLIC" AND "PROTESTANT" EDUCATION IS PART OF WHAT CREATES CATHOLIC AND PROTESTANT BIGOTRY.

IF YOU SIT BESIDE SOMEONE IN SCHOOL FOR 14 YEARS YOU WILL KNOW THEM A LOT BETTER AND BE A LOT SLOWER TO MISUNDERSTAND OR HATE THEM.

  1. I am a teacher in a so called Catholic school. Speak to any teacher and they will tell you of the corruption that goes on daily. The most corrupt aspect being how jobs are giving out, employment law is simply passed over. If anyone in my school were to question it, our lives would simply be made hell!! Catholic appointments need to be investigated asap!

As for the Clergy - why is an unqualified, unexperienced, middle-aged man still running these schools!! Come on, get real.

    1. There should be training for boards of governors and strict codes of conduct.

  2. I am in favour of Catholci Education, it is a gift for our society - but it is a legal timebomb! We all know how teachers are appointed. It is sin the lies and sheer corruption that is employed. In my school for this past 25 years we have been taking bets - I have never lost.

  3. In CCMS school these things mean nothing: intelligence, appitude, caring for the children, Christian values, goodness and ability.

In CCMS schools these things mean everything: ability to keep mouth shut, not caring for staff or children, keep the PP happy, do as your told, do not question and bow your head at the right time!

It is time that B.O.G members should have an appitude test and perhaps bring in the lie detector test. I know for a fact that most B.O.G's & PP's would fail the test.

Shameful people really - sinful as it is a really great system, but they destroy the system. The good vocational teachers keep it up and they prey on the goodness of those teachers.

As for the inspectors in the Dept. of ED. DO NOT TRUST THEIR FINDINGS. What wholly's!

Dear Bishop Pat, I've always had my suspicions concerning the selection of teachers to Catholic schools. I am a proponent of Integrated Education. I think your blog is very interesting.

P.S. That's a nice photo of you at the Baptismal font where you were baptised. You are one year younger than me, Pat.

    God bless.

    1. Jarlath,

Thank you for your comment. The ambition must be to clean up the existing corruptions and stop them happening in the future.

It was interesting to return to my baptismal font.

The church had been burned down a few years ago - but the marble font was saved and kept :-)

      Warm wishes,

      Pat

  5. I am and have always been a strong proponent of public education. But by the virtue of its very nature - publicly funded schools cannot offer the type of spiritual education that Catholic schools have long provided.

CCMS should really make it an urgent issue to ensure that fairness, and the highest rules apply for employment, internal as well as external in Catholic Schools. Far to serious to mess with.

  6. Catholic schools prepare every student to meet the challenges of their future by developing their mind, yes, but also their body and their soul and spirit.

And yet - they do not seem to practice these values internally, is this a sign of the state of the Church in general, stark diffences between the private and public face!!

  7. It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.

    Aristotle

Ergo I entertain the thought of a closed shop in CCMS schools, however, I do not accept it and I would like CCMS and anyone with authority to not destroy the ONE thing that we Catholics are brillant at, Education! DO NOT DESTROY IT!!

  8. Thanks for this blog post. I am a teacher in a catholic secondary school. I completely agree with everything said above. The management are totally corrupt and appoin their close friends and family members to internal promotions and jobs. Every job that appears in the Irish News is already filled. Where is the fair employment commission? It is sickening to see the hypocrisy of school leaders who supposedly are good Catholics yet act like pharisees. Then we wonder why the youth are falling away from the church? They too can see the corruption. Even the student council and head boy/girl position are given too those fit the clique profile. I could write a book on this stuff.
