IS JOHN PAUL'S BLOOD GODS BLOOD?

THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH AUTHORITIES SEEM TO WANT TO MOVE US BACK TO THE PRE-REFORMATION TIMES OF RELICS AND INDULGENCES.

AT VARIOUS TIMES IN ITS HISTORY - TO SUIT ITSELF AND ITS OWN  MACHINATIONS - THE ROMAN HIERARCHY HAS ABANDONED GENUINE FAITH, SPIRITUALITY AND GOOD THEOLOGY AND REPLACED IT WITH HYSTERICAL DEVOTIONALISM.

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH DEVOTION AND DEVOTIONALISM. BUT THERE IS SOMETHING VERY WRONG WITH IRRATIONAL AND HYSTERICAL DEVOTIONALISM REPLACING FAITH, SPIRITUALITY AND THEOLOGY.

THIS WEEK THE VATICAN HAS SENT A LITTLE BOTTLE OF POPE JOHN PAUL'S BLOOD TO BRAZIL IN ADVANCE OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH'S WORLD YOUTH CONFERENCE.

JOHN PAUL'S BLOOD

THE BOTTLE OF BLOOD IS DRAWING THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WHO WANT TO TOUCH IT IN ORDER TO SATISFY SOME NEED FOR "MAGIC" IN THE MIDST OF LIFE'S STRUGGLES AND TRIALS.

APPARENTLY THERE ARE ENOUGH RELICS OF THE "TRUE CROSS" AROUND THE WORLD TO BUILD A LARGE BUILDING.

THERE IS EVEN A RELIC OF JESUS FORESKIN

RELIC OF HOLY FORESKIN

AND ANYBODY WHO WANTS TO BUY RELICS CAN EVEN BUY THEM NOW ON EBAY.
BELOW IS A COLLECTION OF RELICS AVAILABLE TODAY FOR $700 OR £500.

JESUS HIMSELF CONDEMNED THIS TYPE OF THING WHEN HE DECLARED: "THIS IS A WICKED AND EVIL GENERATION CONSTANTLY SEEKING SIGNS AND WONDERS"

JESUS CAME INTO THE WORLD TO ANNOUNCE THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN. HIS COMING INTO THE WORLD WAS GOD'S INVITATION TO MAN. MEN AND WOMEN RESPOND TO THAT INVITATION BY EXPRESSING FAITH IN GOD - "JESUS IS LORD" - AND BY LIVING LIVES THAT ARE IN KEEPING WITH GOD'S WILL FOR HIS PEOPLE.

OUR CHALLENGE IS TO MAKE THIS WORLD AS MUCH LIKE HEAVEN AS WE CAN BY OUR FAITH, PRAYERS AND ACTIONS.

POPE FRANCIS EXPRESSED IT WELL THIS WEEK WHEN HE DECLARED THAT EVERY MAN AND WOMAN IS AS MUCH A CHILD OF GOD AND THE POPE AND AS MUCH LOVED BY GOD.

POPES, BISHOPS, PRIESTS AND DEACONS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE THE SERVANTS OF GOD'S PEOPLE - NOT THEIR OVERLORDS AND MASTERS.

POPE JOHN PAUL WAS A SINNER. HE BOUGHT INTO THE WHOLE ROMAN CATHOLIC THING OF HIERARCHY AND PAPAL INFALLIBILITY.

IT WAS BAD ENOUGH THAT WE HAD TO PUT UP WITH HIM AS A PONTIFF BUT NOW HE IS BEING FORCED ON US AS A SAINT.

AND WE ARE NOW EXPECTED TO RUN TO CATHEDRALS AND PAY HOMAGE TO A BOTTLE OF HIS BLOOD JUST 8 YEARS AFTER HE DIED!

IT IS FAST GETTING TO THE POINT WHERE ROME MAY SOON DECLARE THAT

GOD IS THE POPE'S VICAR IN HEAVEN

FATHER GEORGE TYRRELL WHO LIVED IN THE EARLY 1900'S WAS UPSET BECAUSE IN ROME THEY HAD TAKEN JESUS OFF THE CRUCIFIXES THEY WERE SELLING AND HAD PUT THE POPE ON THERE INSTEAD!

AM I THE ONLY CATHOLIC THAT CAN SEE THAT THE ROMAN CROWD ARE WORKING THEIR WAY SLOWLY TOWARDS DECLARING THE POPE AS GOD?

GOD AND HIS ASSISTANT GODS

AND WILL THAT MEAN THAT CARDINALS ARE "DEPUTY GODS", BISHOPS ARE "ASSISTANT DEPUTY GODS" AND PRIESTS ARE "ASSISTANT GODS".

AND WHAT ABOUT THE BILLION CATHOLICS OUT THERE? ARE THEY GOING TO CONTINUE BEING "TURKEYS VOTING FOR CHRISTMAS"?

AS THEY SAY IN BELFAST - "JESUS WEPT"

  1. A few years ago I went to a priest in Belfast and asked him to sign 2 Mass cards for a funeral I was going to. He told me I owed him £40.

At least I hope the dead person benefited in some way?

    1. At the time of the Reformation there was a verse that the sellers of indulgences used:

      "AS SOON AS THE COIN IN THE COFFER RINGS;
THE SOUL FROM PURGATORY IMMEDIATELY SPRINGS"

I wonder does anyone still believe that?

    2. £40-thats more than it was in my time. In Sligo in the 80's you could get £ 3 or £5 pre signed Mass cards in the corner shop

    3. How many years indulgence for the £3 one and how many for the £5 one?

    4. I suppose it is a bit like the Green Shield Stamps used to be. You would need to refer to the current catalogue to see what you could get with what you had

  2. Thanks Roscommon. I agree with you that NO ONE has ownership of Jesus and his liberating message.

I was thinking later today about all of this trundling body parts around the world and I thought of the words of Jesus: "LET THE DEAD BURY THE DEAD"

Don't get me wrong I believe in the Communion of Saints on earth and in heaven. And I believe that there are wonderful examples of those who have gone before us - and not just FAMOUS SAINTS - but millions and millions of ordinary good Christian people who were an example of Christian living - our own grandparents among them.

But this thing of John Paul's blood etc - embarrasing to say the least

    1. Hi Pat

    2. Re Submitted this comment because I deleted it by mistake Bishop Pat's reply was to a comment of mine where I suggested that no one denomination has a monopoly on the message of Jesus & that coming from a west of Ireland background it was hard for me to be at ease with the fact that the worship of all Christians of good faith is equaly acceptable to God. Rome bashing is a waste of time & energy. As for Pope J P's blood in a bottle-cheap magical manipulation. As for the Jesus Franchise I wonder if the Pope believes he has something in common with Ronald McDonald.

    3. As I remember, John Paul II wanted to declare Mary Co-redeemer. Fortunately cooler theological heads prevail. I am concerned about JP II being canonized. He and his successor reverted to a pre-Vatican II church that deeply hurt classes of people, suppressed theological discussion, brutally stamped out dissent, and tried to raise Mary to godly status. Two people I would fast track to sainthood are Fr. Solanus Casey, OFM Cap, the doorkeeper of St. Boneventure; and Fr. Mychal Judge, OFM, the first victim and martyr of 9-11. I must write briefly about myself. I was a Catholic convert, finished my theological studies at a major seminary in the NW part of the US, and eventually declined to be ordained. I lived as a church going Catholic until about 1998 when the Vatican suppressed New Ways Ministry and the people associated with it. This act and the Halloween letter in 1988(?)by Cardinal Ratzinger, convinced me there is no place for fay men in the Roman Catholic Church so I left. I happened upon an independent catholic community my husband and I liked. Eventually, the bishop called me to ordained ministry and sent me to establish a church closer to our home. When he retired, my fellow priests elected me to be bishop Sorry to have taken so much space.

  3. Couldn't agree more. We have a pony now called Boo. She was abused in the past & I prided myself on the relationship & trust I built up with her over the past 12 months. Now in this beautiful weather she is out with her horsey friends in the field & i'm down on the list of current favourites. Point is Instinct runs deep. Being brought up in the west of Ireland I believed there was only "One TRUE church/denomination." When I got my laicisation letter from Rome-with its conditions etc & was asked to preach at our Holy Thursday Eucharist I found it extremely hurtful that I was requested not to preach in public. Point again being that Instinct runs deep & religious formation goes deeper than logic or common sense.-I hope you & yours are keeping well.

  4. Easy to miss this, they seemed to miss out on john paul 1 in the besainting, but then maybe he doesnt need the vatican to officially make him a saint, plus they wouldnt have much of his blood to milk given how well they disposed of him. But what do I know. The saint is in my book more likely to be the rebel, the one who stands against the conservative money machine, who sees wrong and seeks to change it. Not many of such people about, not for long anyway. I wonder are the kids ready for bed soon, morning comes early

    1. Very good points Sean.

There are still massive quesions about the death of John Paul 1

The People of God loved him and therefore you could say he is a vox populi, vox dei saint.

Jesus was a rebel. I believe that true followers of Christ are always anti-establishment in the good sense

    2. Funny enough I mentioned you this evening to my wife, pat, as someone I can respect. What I said - here is a man who writes most eloquently what I feel, verbatim. I found myself adding as we went inside, something like, if I could ever again see myself as a catholic, going to mass, it would be because there are people like pat buckley, precious beacons of light against the norm of blind acceptance of the evils of the vatican conspiracy. I didnt actaully say the last bit, its just that I am sometimes more accessable to my self when writing than speaking. Oh, I also said to my wife that I had told you it bugged me that I could not disagree with a single word you wrote. My wife drew the contrast in our own relationship! But hopefilly sooner or later I will read some words and be able to say "finally!"

    3. Sean,

I fully respect where you are via religion.

I am a believer and have given my life to it.

One of the nicest compliments I regularly receive is when I travel the country doing weddings for couples that other priests will not touch :-(

I am always deeply moved when someone comes up to me and says: "If you were in my parish I would go back to Mass again" or "If I lived nearer to you I would come to your Mass".

We are all only human and need encouragement.

      Thank you for your encouragement.

      Pat

  6. I like many Christians have NO difficulty with 'RELICS' etc - however, like many Christians I believe that the sale of such items and the nonsense that comes with them is in fact pre-sixteenth century stuff! The 'substance' of the 16th century REFORMATION!

However, one can read in the 'Martyrdom of Ignatius':

"For only the harder portions of his holy remains were left, which were conveyed to Antioch and wrapped in linen, as an inestimable treasure left to the holy Church by the grace which was in the martyr."

There is tradition behind RELICS - the sale of them, money exchanging in the TEMPLE & the nonsense of special spiritual gifts, well let us trust in the HOLY SPIRIT.

Turning the Temple into the marketplace is one thing, however - HOW CAN JOHN PAUL II be declare saint when HIS full relationship with Marcial Maciel, the greatest scandal of recent Roman Catholic History has yet to be FULLY established! This is a complete mockery and I even dare to use the term TRICKERY! How does one get the poor south americans to take their minds away from the serious abuses of the Roman element there or the drugs money pumping IN - sent over a few bottles of BLOOD!

The veneration of the relics is part of the early Christian Tradition and I DO NOT - in fact I REFUTE Calvin’s Treatist on Relics completely, BUT how it is USED today to cover for a serious of accountability, the only way to do this is to FAST TRACK to process, ohh wait that is what is being done. No doubt the 'apologetics' department are writing a repsonse! OPEN OUR EYES O LORD!

This was a disciple of the Apostles, and they took his remains back to Antioch to be venerated. THIS was the early Church.

    1. As you know, Pat, I have no objection to relics in principle any more than you have - indeed at your request I gave you a relic "ex praecordiis" of St Philip Neri for your chapel - but I must confess I felt rather queasy when the vessel of JPII's blood was brought to the altar during his beatification Mass. A friend in Westminster Archdiocese to whom I spoke that evening felt exactly the same. Yet I'm sure this relic would have been totally acceptable to our Catholic ancestors, and, indeed, would still be so in many parts of the Catholic world I guess we just have to accept different sensitivities in different times and places.

  7. before todays unerstandings of physiology, genetics
and how life exists, the blood was thought to be
and contain what a person was, eg, 'royal blood'
thought to be of divine origin, thus kings etc
were considered divine beings or beyond normal..

the heart was thought to be and contain what we are
in the sense of todays understandings of the brain..

instead of wallowing in representations of ignorance
and what was once called brainwashing or conditioning,
these wake-up-calls should be allowed to, wake up,
anyone capable of recognising their own place in
this prehistoric view of life and reality..

    life is a brief candle..
    waste not a moment in
    deliberate self deception..

    all religion, with gods, devils,
    evil spirits, and suchlike,
    can only hide or destroy
    your true human potential..

    'relics' are a relic of
    stone age pre-humanity..
    all the worse any, excuses
    or rationalisations for them..

    peace..
