HARD HEARTED NUNS REFUSE TO COMPENSATE "MAGDALEN LAUNDRY" WOMEN!

HARD HEARTED NUNS REFUSE TO COMPENSATE MAGDALEN LAUNDRY WOMEN

FOUR IRISH RELIGIOUS ORDERS HAVE TOLD THE IRISH GOVERNMENT THAT THEY WILL NOT CONTRIBUTE TO THE COMPENSATION OF WOMEN THAT WERE INCARCERATED IN THE INFAMOUS MAGDALEN LAUNDERIES RUN BY IRISH NUNS.

THOSE FOUR RELIGIOUS ORDERS ARE:

THE MERCY SISTERS

THE SISTERS OF OUR LADY OF CHARITY

THE SISTERS OF CHARITY

THE GOOD SHEPHERD SISTERS.

BELOW ARE THREE IMAGES OF THE MAGDALEN LAUNDRIES

AN IRISH JUDGE, JUDGE JOHN QUIRKE CONDUCTED AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE MAGDALEN LAUNDERIES AND SUGGESTED THE FOLLOWING RATES OF COMPENSATION:

FOR 3 MONTHS IN A MAGDALEN LAUNDRY...........EURO 11,500

FOR A YEAR IN A MAGDALEN LAUNDRY..................EURO 20,500

FOR 5 YEARS IN A MAGDALEN LAUNDRY................EURO 68,500

FOR LONGER THAN 5 YEARS........................................EURO 100,000

BUT THE NUNS ARE REFUSING TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE COMPENSATION PACKET!

THESE FOUR ORDERS WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE IMPRISONMENT OF HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF WOMEN IN THESE PLACES - THE IRISH EQUIVALENT OF HITLER'S CONCENTRATION CAMPS.

THE ONLY DIFFERENCE THAT THE NUNS DID NOT GAS YOU - THEY WANTED TO KEEP YOU ALIVE FOR A LIFETIME OF SLAVERY INSTEAD.

THE NUNS THEN USED YOU TO DO THE LAUNDRY OF THE MIDDLE CLASS AND RICH PEOPLE AROUND FOR WHICH YOU WERE PAYED NOTHING BUT THE NUNS MADE A FORTUNE FROM.

MANY OF THESE POOR WOMEN WERE MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY ABUSED BY FRUSTRATED NUNS.

SOME WERE SEXUALLY ABUSED BY NUNS.

SOME WERE SEXUALLY ABUSED BY MALE VISITORS TO THE CONVENTS - PRIESTS, DOCTORS, LAWYERS AND POLICE MEN AMONG THEM.

IT IS LIKELY THAT SOME WOMEN WERE MURDERED IN THE CONVENTS.

THE FOUR RELIGIOUS ORDERS ARE ALL VERY WEALTHY HAVING SOLD THEIR BIG CONVENTS AND LANDS FOR MILLIONS.

THERE ARE FEWER AND FEWER NUNS NOW AND THOSE WHO ARE LEFT ARE LIVING LIVES OF LUXURY AND COMFORT WANTING FOR NOTHING.

WHEN I WAS YOUNG WE USED TO SAY:

"THE SISTERS OF MERCY HAVE NO CHARITY AND THE SISTERS OF CHARITY HAVE NO MERCY"

SISTER MARGARET CASEY IS THE BOSS OF THE IRISH SISTERS OF MERCY

MERCY BOSS - SISTER MARGARET CASEY

THE SISTERS OF MERCY WEB SITE SAYS THAT THEY WANT TO BE

"A TRUE MERCY PRESENCE IN THE WORLD"

SISTER MARGARET PLEASE SHOW MERCY TO THE MAGDALEN SURVIVORS BY CONTRIBUTING TO THEIR COMPENSATION PACKAGE

AND WILL THE SISTERS OF CHARITY SHOW SOME CHARITY AND CONTRIBUTE TO THE PACKAGE ALSO.

AND WILL THE GOOD SHEPHERD SISTERS, BE GOOD SHEPHERDS TO THE MAGDALEN SURVIVORS AND DO THE SAME.

IF YOU ALL DON'T YOU ARE ALL HYPOCRITES

AND IN THAT CASE THE IRISH GOVERNMENT SHOULD DRAG YOU THROUGH THE COURTS AND MAKE YOU PAY UP

  1. I am a survivor of the Magdalen laundries. My life was ruined by my time in that convent and I have never recovered. I have a life time of depression and I have never been able to form a lasting relationship. My hardship and my suffering cannot be taken away by money. But a genuine apology from the nuns and the catholic church would begin my healing. If I was granted compensation I would use it for counselling and to make to a more pleasant place than I am living.

You are the first bishop, priest or nun I ever heard speaking up for us. What you said in your blogger helped me.

  2. Bring them to the European Court of Human Rights. It is time to expose them as they all sit in their Religious Order Summer Homes by the sea! Again we see the structural Church far far removed from the Christian Message of LOVE. The sad thin is that last Sunday they all read and preached about the Good Samaritan. Who is crossing the road on the otherside of the one who was left half dead at the hands of these brigands??

    1. That's right - bring all the believing and faithful Catholics and their clergy to the secular European Courts.

Europe forgets who brought "enlightenment" to it in the Dark Ages.

Now they bite the hands that fed them.

Not only sad and unjust - Satanic really

    2. Let me get you right - you are equating 'natural justice' with bringing all faithful Catholics to a 'secular' court? Very odd position to take!

When these 'crimes' were being committed by the 'religious' or otherwise, did they cease to be 'faithful' Catholics? Or perhaps they are outside the 'realm' of natural law & justice in your eyes because they are 'religious'? I am sorry for being questioning of your position but I am a little slow!

These crimes and abuses (all ready independently established - old ground!)committed, were they 'Reiligious' crimes or 'Secular' crimes? I am slighly confused about that point. Either or then they should have a seperate modus operandi in being held accountable or not it would seem in your writing?

May I also ask what is wrong with the 'secular'? Is it not something to be admired? Is it a demon state of being? Is it respectful of the 'religious' aspect of society? Perhaps you could consult VatII in finding a definition!

In terms of the 'enlightenment' - Really, the Church brought the 'enlightenment', you need to be enlightened a little, are you perhaps a little guilty of historicism?

You mention 'satan' - REALLY!! Did you read the reports or are you 'convinced' that they are wrong because it had a secular method and process of investigation? Did you find anything of 'satan' in the 'acts' within the reports?

I come from a family of religious and priest's and I KNOW that they were NOT ALL guilty! It was a small number of individuals who did wrong and the structure covered it up - but the damage was significant to both the victim and to the 'people of God', don't you think so?

  3. The whole Magdalene Laundry thing is just another plot by the Irish secularists and anti-clerics to attack our Church.

Many of those women had a much better life in the care of the sisters than they would have had at home.

They had a warm bed, decent food, a religious upbringing and were taught how to cook, bake, wash, iron and be home-makers.

We all hard hard times and difficult home lives in the Ireland on the 40s, 50s and 60s.

We are just living in a Ireland now that has abandoned God and the faith and an Ireland where everybody is a so called victim with their hand out.

Ireland needs to return to the Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary and to people offering up their sufferings with Our Lord on Calvary.

    2. I find your comment very insulting. I was a young child of 11 and new nothing about boys and girls and all that stuff. I had a loving home and parents who loved and cared for me. the only reason the nuns took me against my mothers will was when my father was overseas working, they set their eyes on me ,just a little kid an easy target, so don't you dare say we had a better life with the nuns than we would have had at home, I would not have been beaten until I bled and and I would not have been hungry and I would not have been locked up like a prisoner, I certainly would not have been set to work at the young age of 11. The nuns told me I was ugly but my mother told me I was beautiful. the nuns told me I would never be anybody or anything of use but my mother told me I sing like an angel and said I had a bright future ahead of me.... but that bright future ended when a priest with two nuns came and wrenched me from my mothers arms and threw me into the magdalen laundry and gave me a number that was to be my name from there on. so don't judge us unless you or a member of your family were there.

  5. Dear Mike, if that is your real name!

I am not suffering from any mental illness or disorder.

Maybe you are - as you are attacking me personally and not my views or statements.

Maybe you are an irrational church-basher?

If so there is no talking to you.

    1. Dear Sister of Mercy, I am not Mike by the way - however I am a Priest not so far away from were you possibly live!

Wrong is wrong, the abuse was wrong, it was NOT of GOD and NOT carried out in God's name nor my name!

The damage done to the Gospel of Jesus Christ is so tragic that it brings me literally to tears. We must STOP fighting this and now heal, bring love and compassion. Money is money, trust in God, give it all away, let us live inf true poverty and ask for the forgiveness of the people and of God for the damage anyone did dressed in our clothing. My clothing is a dignified clothing yet it is despised and hated, I feel the very anger piecing when I walk on the street.

Let us do what is right and bow before almighty God and repent. Everyone of us who are Catholic and restore health and healing to our body, the Church.

      Please.

  6. I listened again to one of the dignified ladies who spent time in one of these 'work' houses doing laundry for free! Many, many aspects to the whole saga there seems to be; the state, our attitude within communities and society (shaped by the Catholic Church) and of course the Religious Orders running these buildings!

So there are many offending parties to this collective guilt and shame! There is only ONE offending party who continues to deny, 'wiggle' and 'worm' their way out of accountability, the Religious Orders!! SHAME! How are they doing this you ask? Through the SECULAR LAW, LAWYERS & COURTS!! Then they accuse the 'secular' of 'attacking' their 'innocence', 'faithfulness' etc. Use the 'secular' privately then use 'religious language' in public to abuse the already abused and defend offending persons! Only one of the offending parties made profit, money gained on the back of FORCED & FREE LABOUR - the RELIGIOUS ORDERS. Who is refusing to pay? These same Orders - much to secular a thing this profit making!! But I suppose the 'secular' profit, paid in full for the summer houses these same religious orders enjoy as we speak!! Enjoy your fresh air!

This is a HUMAN RIGHTS ISSUE - this whole issue now needs to land on the desk of the EUROPEAN COURT OF HUMAN RIGHTS. The role of 'canon law', 'religious language' and 'church & state' also needs to be examined in order to protect future generations from the unaccountable religious men & women who have NO concept or notion between 'right & wrong'!

My prayers today are with the survivors who's pain has been compounded by the refusal of the named religious orders not to provide financial restitution to them and thus help to heal the hurt and injustice they have suffered.
My prayers also are with the indivdual women members of the named orders, that the grace of the Holy Spirit will provide them with the courage and confidence necessary to challange this decision that has been made IN THEIR NAME by people both within and outside their orders. May they be faithful to the Gospel values of their founders and to the great celtic spiritual tradition of women like Bridit and Ita who never took their eyes of the risen Christ form the monent of their profession. May they have the courage and and great strength required to stand up within their respective orders both individually and collectivley and challange both privately and in public this decision. May they say to those in positions of authority and controll both within outside their order "NOT IN MY NAME".

  8. My Aunt grew up in convent girls home-not a laundry. She never knew her parents. Her Mother possibly was a servant in a "big House" in the far south of the country. She was deposited into care at the age of 3 or 4. She speaks of looking after the older nuns as part of her duties. Recently she was admitted to hospital for a short time in Manchester. Her cubicle was on a ward in the older part of the hospital remeniscant of Dickensian times. It was as if she herself was transported back in time. She was sat on the edge of her bed afraid to get in until told. All her things were neatly lined up at the side of her bed. She kept saying that someone was going to take her away and put her into harder work. Was this a flashback..who knows. My Aunt was not admitted with a "mental illness" On another note I remember visiting 2 elderly Mercy Sisters who were in care in Nazareth House Sligo. Both were bed bound & had taught 3 generations of girls in Sligo. Now they were in their twilight years. Sisters from the Mercy Community came to see them. I visited once a month with Communion. I made a point of visiting them. I wondered where were all the girls they gave their lives to serve? Did anyone know their second name or give a damn? I thought of myself as an old Priest and hated the thought that I might end up like one of them. Another thing I hated was the mandatory Christmas Day Lunch with the Bishop at ST Marys in Sligo. This was for Priests whos parents were no longer alive. All had to sit around the big table and pretend to be a happy family for the day-what a load of crap

  9. Yes I agree, I don not for one moment blame all 'religious' for the tragedy of these 'abuses'! I know many 'religious' including those within my own family who spent their entire lives in following Jesus, but it was muddled up with following the 'superior' and all that went with it. I listened to the debate in the Dail today and I did not know the numbers of people being cared for by the 'religious' orders. They are caring for so many.... I listened to the figures today!

I have to day that I wish these 'superiors' o maybe it is CORI who are making these decisions would wake up. The decision to not make amends through the current scheme will not go down well in history. In 50 years time this will be talked about!! It is not fair on those in my own family or those 'religious' who dedicated their entire lives, intelligent people who gave their all! Let the faithful religious be spoken about, those who build our schools and hospitals, those who fed the people - not this current nonsense in the news.

Let the GOOD FAITHFUL 'RELIGIOUS' sisters and brothers come to the fore in history please, not the current madness - History is only a few years away for us all!!

  10. We the nuns are an easy target. First Enda Kenny closed our Vatican Embassy. Next he brings in laws to kill babies in the womb. Now he is after our money.

Next year he will allow Fag Marriage.

The year after that - Euthanasia ?

The year after that - the killing of people with disability.

The year after that the Jews (Watch out Alan Shatter)

Ireland is becoming the FOURTH REICH

    1. Dear Sr., I read with interest your response above. To say that I am bemused is a considerable understatment!

The Vatican Embassy - diplomatic trappings of a 'secular' world! I thought you fear or actively degrade, disprove and rebut all things 'secular'! My question is - why does a 'Church' need a tax funded, 'secularised' ethic with the diplomatic trappings of an 'embassy'? The contradictions between who the Roman Church says she is and how she operates are stark!!

As for the bio-ethical issue of 'Abortion', I to am pro-life, I think any serious Christian following the Gospel can but only be, but the manner in which we should defend life should be credible! Sitting in the streets with images of Our Blessed Mother is not 'diplomatic' or 'dignified' - ;earn from our fellow Christians in the regard, if we have the humility to do so!

As for being after 'our money' - is it yours? Again I am confused, I thought that this money was given, earned in and through 'charity' status! Something that needs revision by the 'secular' authorities! Was the money earn through forced, free labour? Did the 'women' in these 'houses' committ any crimes, were they 'detained' by 'secular' or 'religious' law? You mention the third reich - do you see anything in common there??

As for the marriage debate - you have NO CREDIBILITY to have a say in any ethical issue! You have NO MORAL GROUND!! You are 'morally spent'! You still cannot, even after all the reports in Ireland (not completed yet), internationally (including the UN) and in the very heart of the control center of Rome - come to terms with who and what the Roman Church is! Abuse after abuse, scandal after scandal - harm done to the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Please remove the title 'Church' and call yourselves the 'Roman' business!

Now own up to your responsibilities or be dragged through the 'secular' legal system outside this country and be exposed for the 'wolf dressed in sheep clothing' that you are!

    2. Fag Marriage. Your words say it all. Rule 1 of debate; you do not need to like your opponent but respect to the other Must be shown. Jesus showed respect for scribes pharisees & the temple. As for the Vatican Embassy in Dublin. The Pope is a head of state. This is a remnant of the old holy roman empire. Does the Pope need to be an Emperor/head of state in the modern world...? Jesus Kingdom is in but not of the World. Fag Bashers are definately of this World

  11. dear Mercy Sister,Mike is my real name and unlike you I am willing to sign my name to the statements I make.I do not suffer from any form of mental illness.I am dismayed that anybody who has taken religious vows to uphold the Gospel of Christ, can in anyway justify the horrors that went on,can justify the suffering of the innocents, can justify the pain and loss of dignity, can justify the ruining of lives that had so much potential. If these views make me mentally ill then I am guilty, but one thing I do know Sister of Mercy is that you and I beleive in different Gods and seem to have read different Gospels.Read the reply from the priest near you.You wonder then why your convents are empty.......

    1. Convents and seminaries are empty because today's young people - unlike the young people of my day are not willing to make sacrifices for God and others.

Today's world is all about money, ambition, worldly success.

People like me sacrificed everything for Jesus and the Gospels you seem to be an expert on.

What about carrying the cross everyday?

You are obviously a defender of the Secular World

  12. Sister,i am glad you mentioned todays world being about money, because here are your orders worth billions and refusing to pay for the pain and misery you caused, that I am afraid is very much the attitude of the secular world, you should be its poster girls.you speak of taking up the cross, all very noble, lovely words, somewhat of a rallying call, but thats all,its all empty, now it is time for you to show repentance, put down your cross and hand over the money. 13. I don't understand why a few nuns get to live in massive expensive-to-heat compounds decorated with very expensive stained-glass windows I recall one convent had a beach front "retreat." Don't forget they need a priest to say daily Mass. They also get great health care and usually live long, long lives. The life-of-Riley.

  14. It amazed me that a Bishop would would say anything against another who claims to carry God's banner. I thought they all stuck together.

The Mercy nuns in Australia are still doing some sly and cunning things. There are few nuns left but it makes no difference as they still own institutions which others run and supply income.

I had worked at a school run by the nuns. A cover up needed to take place so a false report was placed in my file to transfer blame to me. At a later stage the head nun must have felt guilty about the lies and she told a story about white lies. She did not admit to a lie or say what the story related to but it was obvious. She said that if a lie was for the overall good of the community it was a white lie.(So I get damaged to protect their holy image) If people wished to read my story google white lies test blog
