CARDINAL NICHOLS SAYS POPE IS NOT INFALLIBLE

CARDINAL NICHOLS SAYS POPE IS NOT INFALLIBLE
VINCENT NICHOLS

Cardinal Vincent Nichols - the Archbishop of Westminster and the leader of the Roman Catholic denomination in England and Wales has declared that THE POPE IS NOT INFALLIBLE.

Speaking on last Sunday's Channel 4 News (27.4.2104) Cardinal Nichols said that Karol Woytyla aka Pope John Paul 11 HAD MADE MISTAKES.

When I was growing up in the RC denomination it was beaten into me by the "Christian" Brothers and the Nuns that the pope: WAS INFALLIBLE IN MATTERS OF FAITH AND DOCTRINE.

Of course for many years now I have known that this teaching was absolute rubbish.

How could the popes who organised the murderous CRUSADES have been infallible in matters of faith and morals?

How could the popes who organised the tortures of the INQUISITION have been infallible in matters of faith and morals?

How could the licentious BORGIA popes have been infallible in matters of faith and morals?

And how could John Paul 11 and Benedict who presided over the abuse and rape of children by priests have been infallible in matters of faith and morals?

The Roman Catholic Church is really a denomination or even a "cult" and it is run on the lines of a multi national business.

As an oraganisation it has little or nothing to do with God or spirituality - but everything to do with a massive entity that is all about mind control, power, self survival and money and profit.

Last weekend's canonisation will have made The Vatian millions and millions.

And the sad thing is that so many devout Roman Catholics buy into all of this and are like turkeys voting for Christmas.

But it is good to see that one of the cardinals - Vincent Nichols - is undermining one of the organisations key policies - that is - that the organisations leader - the pope - is a "god" incapable of error.

Well done Cardinal Nichols for telling the truth.

  3. Well done Bishop Buckley,

Thank God that you are a heretic, you are in great company. As for Protestant, the contributor seems to be using that as a 'bad thing'! This is the real 'Ecumenical Catholic Church View' - I am a Protestant I suppose after many years of listening to and paying these Catholic clergy to sell me the sacraments that were freely given on the Cross!

Although on reflection, I am more Catholic than these supposed conservative pricks who have caused so much damage to the Church of Christ!

John Paul should never have gaone through this 12th century process! Is he the Saint for Pedo protection!!

  4. I doubt very much if Cardinal Nichols would recognise anything of what you are alleging he said Pat in your attention seeking blog post stating that (in your opinion) he is denying the doctrine of papal infallability. Just because popes as human beings can, and do, make mistakes and serious ones at that, does not mean that the indefectability of the Church in general, and in particular the infallibility of the pope, are questionable. The Church has always taught that it is only during the most solemn exercise of the Papal Magisterium, when the pope in concert with the entire bishops (validly and licitly ordained with Papal Mandate - sorry Pat, you are not and never will be part of that) of the Church, as well as the sensus of the faithful, teaches solemnly and from the Chair of Peter (Ex Cathedra) a truth revealed from God, that in that moment and in that moment alone the faithful can be certain that this is a truth free from error and protected from such by the Grace of God. Infallibility does not mean and never has meant that the pope cannot err, and it does not and never has meant that every opinion and attitude of a pope is free from error. Popes are human, the shit of the pope is as smelly as yours and mine. Francis would be the first to admit it. Back to the theology class for you Pat. C- (and thats a generous mark from a seminary theology prof used to bashing theology into the heads of mediocre students).

  5. Thank you for commenting.

God forbid that I might ever be part of the "Magisterium".

For the rest - your theology and mine are very different. God is not confined to the pages of the Catholic Catechism.

  6. You have no qualifications in Theology, Pat. But even a 'sem course' student like you would know that Cardinal Nichols is not denying Papal Infallibility, You are just acting the bollocks as usual. The Holy Spirit told me She has never heard of Pat Buckley!

    1. What "qualifications" in theology did Jesus have? He would not have been welcome in the Pharisee theology schools / colleges of His time?

No indeed, were He to return today would He be welcome in Maynooth, The Pontifical Irish College, Rome - aka "The Pink Palace" for its nasty gay seminarians and young gay post grad priests.

Leave it to a modern day Pharisee to ask a "theological" question :-)

  7. The greatest qualification is experience reflected on with the insight of the Holy Spirit. I believe you have lots of experience. As for this anonymous bloke, I think he gets off on your rebuttals. You know his form by now. Just dont publish his stupid comments. They take up space and wont be missed Sean

  8. I don't recall any instruction in my California Roman Catholic grammar school that the pope is always and everywhere infallible. My understanding of papal infallibility stems from reading Hans Kung's magnum opus while in high school many years ago, but I do recall that only when he himself so declares by speaking "ex cathedra" with the Church is the pope and his pronouncement so deemed. As someone has already noted: I didn't know folks actually used "Magisterium" anymore haha! So, when I read on BBC about Cardinal Nichols' comments, I didn't find them all that relevatory, except that a living and breathing RCC cardinal made such a statement. Of course, Nichols is in the UK. But hey, when you're Pius IX trying to turn back the secularist, capitalistic, and mechanistic tide of the late 19th century (and maybe tick off Bismarck in the process), you might just codify as an Article of Faith that what you say must be heard and tremblingly obeyed. Anyway, the only items infallible of the past two hundred years had to do with Mary. The rest had to do with Christ, some heresies which are now footnotes of history, and something called beatific vision which is probably really special to the hair-splitters but sounds incredibly tedious to me. So is the infallible thing really all that important?

BTW thanks kindly for your blog, which I found only recently. I never knew about the RCC in Northern Ireland.Troubles never cease, eh?
