BANBRIDGE PRIEST - DRUGS AND NAZIS

AN IRISH priest has been caught on camera snorting a line of cocaine at a party in his house on church grounds.
Father Stephen Crossan, 37, was seen sniffing a large line of the drug through a note while chatting to a pal in a room full of Nazi memorabilia.

He places a cigarette in an ashtray and seems to say “I shouldn’t” before snorting white powder off a plate in a video obtained by the Irish Sun on Sunday.
The respected Father’s drug use came at the end of a two-day bender that ended with him inviting friends back to his parish home.
Crossan has admitted taking drugs. He confessed: “It was just the one night and that was it. I do not have an issue with drugs.”
Fr Crossan lives on the grounds of St Patrick’s Church in Banbridge, Northern Ireland.A source said revellers went back to Fr Crossan’s home at 11am for seven hours after they had been asked to leave another house party.

They were shocked to see Nazi memorabilia including flags, hats and a Maltese falcon on a plinth on his mantelpiece.

A source said: “Stephen said he was a social worker but told us the truth when we realised he lived on church grounds.
“He had been drinking beers and Jack Daniels as well as taking coke.

“The house was really lovely, with plush carpets and antique furniture everywhere.
“But we were pretty stunned to see all the Nazi stuff everywhere — badges, hats and flags. He showed me all these pins — there must have been about a hundred badges.
“It was all over the house, it reminded me of that Nazi room in Father Ted — I told him that and he laughed it off.
“At one point Stephen put on a cap and did the Nazi salute but he was just messing around.”

The source continued: “There was a big rail of all of his gowns — we tried some of them on and danced about.

  1. This is definitely one of the stranger stories I've herd of on here . I tried coke once didn't like it at all . The nazi stuff I have to say is a bit weird but in the grand scheme of things I've herd worse . I'd be more inclined to think that this guy needs help with his drug habit

  2. Bishop Pat, Is it true that a priest of Down and Connor diocese lent "straight" friend of his the ropes of church vestments to tie up his girlfriend in the presbytery so that they could have bondage sex?

I think the "ropes" you are referring to are properly called cinctures.

I hope no priest would allow sacred items to be used for "bondage sex". What would that say about a priest's faith and his regard for the Mass?

  3. Collecting nazi memorabilia is quite common a lot of it can be quite valuable. A priest collecting nazi stuff is kinda odd but I'm sure there's priests out there who collect far worse

  4. Priest @ 18:46

Never mind using sacred items, I know a D&C priest(!) who used the chapel as a meeting place with his girl friend.

  5. In the 1st four chapters of 1 Samuel the spiritual condition of the people is represented in the spiritual condition of the priesthood. Eli shows his lack of spiritual insight when he could not discern between a woman in travail of soul in intercession and a drunken woman. His sons the priests were sacrilegious towards the offerings of the people. They were involved in acts of immorality and they were corrupt. Though wearing the linen ephod and priestly robes signifying righteousness, purity and holiness, they were anything but. Eli failed to discipline his sons even though he heard of their immoral acts he just mildly reproved them. A bit like what’s going on in the Church today. It is interesting to note that God would not touch these sons (priests) as long as they were under the covering of the father (Bishop), so God himself had to step in and judge all three together.
Though under the same roof God was bypassing Eli and spoke to a young man who was sensitive submissive and obedient to the spirit, unlike the priests who were going through religious formalities. Eli represents the spiritual condition of the nation. They were unable to see spiritually and had fallen back into idolatry and apostasy and they were stiff-necked towards what God wanted to do. In the time of warfare they took the ark and presumed that God was with them, and all their shouting was nothing but an empty noise and a farce, God was not in it. When the Ark was captured. The son born to the wife of Phinehas the son of Eli was named ‘Ichabod’ meaning the Glory is departed from Israel. Without the Ark of God and the God of the Ark there can be no Glory. The Ark was at Shiloh and that is what Jesus was referring to when he cleared the Temple. Has this house, which bears my Name, become a den of robbers to you? But I have been watching! Declares the Lord. Go now to the place in Shiloh where I first made a dwelling for my Name, and see what I did to it because of the wickedness of my people Israel. (Jeremiah 7: 11-12) As Ecclesiastes 3:15 says, history keeps repeating itself.

  6. Why does this story not shock - or even surprise - me? I'm not concerned so much with this priest's reported behaviour as with my reaction to it.

Catholics are becoming innured to clerical scandal; in fact, I believe they now expect it more than displays of priestly virtue.

Who said there is no happiness in Hell?

  7. In D&C we have our own clergy civil partnerships! We do not have it so bad really.

  8. I wish you would leave this priest alone. He wasn't doing anybody any harm. All the other boozers were there at his invitation and in the safe environs of the parochial house. The Nazi memorabilia represents an excellent investment, which upon eventual disposal, should attract a return in excess of 10%pa. A wise strategy in this day and age.
And at least the good parishioners of Banbridge know in this case where their hard earned cash is going. I know many parishes where the money is being squandered foolishly and the parishioners don't know where or how!!
