FATHER CIARAN DALLAT - AT CHRISM MASS !!!

FATHER CIARAN DALLAT - AT CHRISM MASS !!!

FATHER CIARAN DALLAT - nearly a year to the day he had to withdraw from priesthood for making a parishioner pregnant - has turned up in the cathedral in Belfast to "renew" his priestly promises !!!

The Down and Connor priest who was shocked to see him present among the bishops and priests and who notified the Blog of his presence said:

"DOES THIS APPEARANCE (WITH NOEL TREANOR'S APPROVAL ???) NOT SPEAK VOLUMES AS TO THE CANCER IN OUR CHURCH? NO APOLOGIES - JUST STICK ON AN ALB AND BRAZEN IT OUT.

NO THOUGHT AS TO THE DISGRACE BROUGHT UPON THE CATHEDRAL PARISH BY HIS ACTIONS, NOR THE PAIN CAUSED TO HIS VICTIM LINDA AND HER FAMILY.

THE WHOLE EXERCISE WAS A CRUEL PARODY ON WHAT CHRISTIAN LOVE AND SERVICE IS TRULY ABOUT.

I AM JUST WONDERING DID ANY OF HIS OTHER C0-CONCELEBRANTS NOT FIND HIS PRESENCE INAPPROPRIATE AT BEST AND DISGRACEFUL AT WORST?

ITS THE THREE MONKEYS ROUTINE AGAIN - SEE NO EVIL........."

There are very serious questions to be asked about this appearance at the cathedral:

1. Did it happen with the knowledge and approval of the bishop - Noel Treanor?

2. Is it the first stage of the diocese trying to reintroduce Dallat back to ministry ?

3. Has Father Dallat changed his manner of living - in other words has he learned to keep his gun in his holster?

4. Has Father Dallat undertaken any form of counselling and therapy?

5. Is he about to be foisted on a parish in the diocese?

6. On which parish is he about to be foisted.

7. Has the diocese and the bishop let his victim know of his gradual return?

8. In practice is celibacy optional in the diocese of Down and Connor?

Many people will view Father Dallat's appearance at the Chrism Mass yesterday surrounded by bishops and priests as the clergy rubbing the noses of the laity in the mud.

It seems there is one rule for clerics and one rule for laity!

********** UPDATE************

A JOURNALIST HAS JUST INFORMED ME THAT NOEL TREANOR HAS ISSUED A PRESS STATEMENT SAYING THAT HE IS REINSTATING DALLAT AND WILL GIVE HIM A DIOCESAN APPOINTMENT "IN DUE COURSE"

Have you not heard of the Prodigal Son - and the unconditional forgiveness of his (0ur Heavenly Father's) acceptance oh him - and us.

    2. Have you any view on Father Dallat having a two year relationship with a woman, making her pregnant, not supporting her when she was pregnant, not supporting her when she lost the baby etc ?????

Is that the behaviour you expect of a man with integrity?

Is that the behaviour you expect of a man who claims to be a Christian?

Is that the behaviour you expect of your priest?

Ciaran Dallat is no Prodigal Son as time will prove.

And Noel Treanor is no Heavenly Father.

      God help our poor diocese.

So you think this blog is 'a cancer'. It can't be that bad since it didn't prevent
a morally high-minded type like you from paying us a wee visit.

I don't doubt you'll sneak back...just like your moral champion, Fr Dallat, at the chrism Mass on Holy Thursday.

  2. Indeed Pat, Despite the homily at the Chrism Mass yesterday the overpowering message from Bishop Treanor was this "Ok guys, go out there and shag all you can and if you stick anybody in the club I'll pay them off with the parishoners' hard earned cash. You can then have a period of discernment and after a wee while come back I'll move you to another parish and all will be well"
If ever there was a clear message about the worthlessness of celibacy and contempt for our sacredotal vows it was very visibly displayed yesterday.

And what about the rest of you who have endured the burden and the heat of the day including the difficulties of celibacy.

Noel Treanor has just let you know what regard he has for your years of fidelity and faithfulness.

The "Jack the Lad" priests seem to have more thought of them :-(

Good priests will feel very dishonoured and cheated.

    4. As a practising Catholic and the mother of five daughters I am very disturbed at the easy and swiftness with which Father Dallat is being returned to priestly ministry. And If what is said above is true he has been saying Mass in North Antrim during his so called time of discernment and reflection. I had a drunkard for a husband but I stayed with him because I had taken vows. I must admit to being relieved and set free when God took him away through death.

Why should I and millions like me have to suffer the consequences - good and bad - of being faithful to my vows when people like Father Dallat - from whom much more should be expected can waltz in and out of both relationships with women and priesthood.

Have I and all those like me being fools? Are the clergy secretly laughing us to scorn? If there is a God in Heaven justice will have to be done either here or here after.

    5. Someone recently asked what Bishop Buckley's attitude was to the subject of "Detraction."
It was considered - when I was a child to be on the same level as "Calumny."
He does seem to have considerable expertise as a detractor!
He did not answer to that question - could he do so now??.

      Breaking your celibacy vows?

      Living a lie?
Refusing to support your child's mother?
Not being there when your baby was lost?
Having sex one day and giving lectures on marital fidelity another?
Saying Mass in the state of mortal sin?

Wow! Catholic morality is changing - especially for clerics!

  4. Noel Treanor has allowed Ciarin Dallat to "do a Charles Stuart Parnell", an Irish solution to an Irish problem. When Parnell's adulterous relationship with Kitty O'Shea was discovered and the Irish clergy started railing against Parnell from their
pulpits, Cecil Rhodes advised Parnell to resign his seat as an MP, to remarry quietly
and then to return after a decent period of laying low. The gamble was that public
scandal would eventually settle and that Parnell could simply pick up where he left
off. But it didn't quite work out that way. Nor will it, I think, for that "toerag", Dallat.

I keep thinking of that poor priest the other day who was treated so shabbily by his
fellow clerics after he left the priesthood in order to marry. I can't help comparing the
    two situations.

Noel Treanor obviously has the deepest contempt for the laity for allowing Dallat to
sneak back into ministerial priesthood after a 'period of discernment (aka
laying low, like Parnell). And to use Holy Week as the cover!!! Has Treanor no shame?

I hope lay Catholics make it plain that they will not tolerate this excuse for a man being allowed to carry on regardless. And I hope they let Treanor know that they don't appreciate being taken for fools, just as they made it plain to Sean Brady recently that they would not allow him to confirm their children for the contempt HE showed others.

You must know - as I have known sine Primary School - that Detraction is precisely that - to tell Unknown and scandalous truths about someone for no other purpose than to cause maximum harm and damage to their reputation!
Is not this what you do and have done on a regular basis?
Do you not think that God will not - has not - forgiven this unfortunate priest?

Truths, even sandalous ones, MUST be told if these disclosures would
prevent evil, for example, injustice against the person, especially a child.

Fr Dallat has caused deep hurt, betrayal and injustice among the People of God, and there is absolutely no evidence that this rakish leopard has
changed a single spot. It means that other women and their families may be at risk from this known predator. It is absolutely right, therefore, that
people should protest against Bishop Treanor's high-handed and arrogant decision to impose Fr Dallat, without so much as a 'by your leave', on some hapless parish.

Bishop Treanor has made a poor call here...and not for the first time. His suitability for episcopal office is now in serious doubt.

Anne, just to say thanks for your comment, and how good it is to have more and more people, especially ladies, speak up about the shennanigans the clergy have got up to, and moreover, the derisory way their hierarchy managers have responded: without compassion and solely determined to preserve power and prestige as managers of a decaying, defunct and totally unchristian totalitarian regime.
      Thank you.

  13. Like anyone in a position of authority the bishop will know what is going on and what the word is on the street. If he doesn't know himself then there will be others who will tell him. I have no doubt that the authorities in D&C read this blog. They would be foolish not to!
There have been ample hints on this blog today about Cairan Dallat's other goings on. It seems there is more to come which has not as yet been put into the public domain.
Although the bishop has authority for D&C I have no doubt that because of the previous press attention etc around Dallat he will have probably consulted Archbishops Martin, the Primate and Metropolitan and Brown, the Nuncio. They will have discussed the "what ifs" and the likely fall out of re introducing him.My assumption is that they will have probably relied on Dallat's word that the cupboard had no more skeletons likely to fall out.
However, this blog tells us that there is more to come.
So when it does the bishop cannot say I didn't know or wash his hands of the matter. Terms like "error of judgement" may not be enough. The days when the church and its leaders got away with the hard nosed, sit it out approach are now a thing of the past.
It is alleged that more victims may appear. If that is the case then there may well be more casualties.
