MAYNOOTH - NEW RESIGNATION SHOCK

MAYNOOTH - NEW RESIGNATION SHOCK

Father David Marsden

MAYNOOTH SEMINARY has announced another priestly resignation in the wake of the ongoing gay scandal sweeping the national seminary.

The Director of Vocational Growth for seminarians has suddenly submitted his resignation as of immediate effect.

The Maynooth website gives the following information about Father Marsden:

Fr. David Marsden SCJ, is a native of the city of Liverpool and a member of the Sacred Heart Fathers. He was ordained to the priesthood in 2002. He graduated from the Institute of Psychology at the Gregorian University, Rome in 2007. He has been working at St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth as a Vocational Growth Counsellor since 2009.

Father Marsden was seen by the seminarians as a very spiritual man with their spiritual and vocational growth very much at the heart of his ministry.

However seminarians and others have told this Blog that Father Marsden was disliked by other priest members of staff for his truthfulness and integrity.

One said in an email to this Blog:

"The only true authentic Priest in Maynooth has resigned because of the gay scandal. Staff hated him for his commitment to the truth".

THE IRISH CATHOLIC newspaper - which is pro bishop - carried the sanitised version of the story as follows:

"A senior member of staff at Maynooth has resigned, reportedly over differences with colleagues about the future direction of the seminary.
Fr David Marsden – who as vocational growth counsellor was a key member of staff charged with helping seminarians discern a vocation to the priesthood – is a trained psychologist specialising in priestly formation.
A British-born member of the Sacred Heart Fathers, he had worked in Maynooth since 2009 and is described as a popular member of staff amongst seminarians.
It is understood that Fr Marsden had concerns about the direction of the formation programmes.

Fr Marsden was unavailable for comment. However, a spokesman for St Patrick’s College, Maynooth told The Irish Catholic “I can confirm that Fr Marsden has stepped down from his role”.

But other sources claim that Father Marsden's departure was absolutely connected to the current gay scandal at Maynooth and the dismissal of whistle blower seminarians who were opposed to Maynooth's gay sub culture.
Either way the loss of Father Marsden is a great loss to Maynooth and is a clear sign that the current "strange" regime is fully in charge and goes unchallenged by the Irish Catholic bishops.
Father Marsden's resignation follows the sudden stepping aside of the college president, Monsignor Hugh Connolly - whom we are told is going on one of those wonderfully convenient "sabbaticals".
Hugh "Sabbatical" Connolly

Do the Irish Catholic Bishops not care that Maynooth is quickly going down the chute?
As far as I am concerned future seminarians and their parents and families should be very worried about allowing their sons to go into Maynooth at this time.

  1. Fr Marsden was a great man; loved by the seminarians in Maynooth. He must have felt he could no longer continue after everything that has happened. Lord deliver us!

  2. A naïve outsider, he has spoken publicly about his heterosexual orientation: http://www.stmaryscollege.wirral.sch.uk/our-faith/our-priests/fr-david-marsden/

    1. Father Marsden was and is a good man and a good priest. I hope he speaks out about his reasons for resigning from Maynooth so that the renewal of the national seminary can begin.

      Former Maynooth Seminarian.

    2. If this is the same Fr. Marsden who wrote magnificent articles in the "Cathoic Times"' he will be a huge loss to Maynooth and an amazing asset in his future position.

Anon @10:24: I am puzzled at the negative inference in your comment on Fr Marsden which appears to convey both a naivite and sexual behavioural inclination unsuitable in a priest. Yet the article you refer to is an entirely positive one in which an Elaine Webster traces Fr Marsden's journey to priesthood. It's an entirely positive article in which she/he describes his initial resistence when, at 20 years old and with a girlfriend, he then viewed his future in marriage and family life. His experiences in youth work and other caring led to what she/he describes as an irresistable pull toward priesthood. Indeed the impression is given of the sort of man of integrity who would struggle to endure the kind of current environment apparantly existing at Maynooth.
So the contradiction between the article and your comment puzzles me. Thanks for sharing the article, but could you comment on the apparant contradiction please?

    4. Thank you, MMM. You may have missed my irony, but not, I think, my point.

He has made a massive statement even if he chooses to say nothing further.

If more priests could afford protest resignations the bishops might wake up but let's not forget how they rubbished even Cardinal Dolan's recent report on the Irish seminaries.

Thank you Anon @ 15:42 IF you are the same Anon of 10:24, and if you are, then I'm afraid the irony was just too subtle for my simple mind.

  3. Fek him off back to England I presume. What a shame. I feked myself off to England in 1999 In some circles it seems things havent changed much. I wish him luck. I'm sure the good he did will not have been wasted

  4. A man of integrity and faith who didn't/doesn't fit in with the twisters, climbers, suave operators and nasty pieces of work currently holding sway in the national seminary and the Irish Church.

You may indeed be correct Anon@12; 34
But since Anon 10:24 was so quick with a negative inference comment perhaps we can look forward to an equally quick clarification to my query.

  6. A MAN OF TRUTH.

Fr Marsden is a true shepherd of Christ, a man of interior and exterior holiness who loves the Church. He stuck out like a sore thumb in an environment that incredibly frowns upon holiness. The seminary council despised him because he did not play ball with their twisted anti catholic agenda which is destroying the church. Fr Marsden was a refuge, a light in the darkness for genuine seminarians who are living in fear that will be thrown out. It is all a psychological pathetic mind games. For those who are seeking to follow and imitate Christ, they have to develop a double personality. They must pretend to be mediocre and have no morals. There is no sin, no justice, no purgatory and it appears a majority of the faculty do not believe in the True presence of Christ. Fr Marsden was a very good, brave and genuine priest. The only reason that they did not sack him was because nobody else had his qualifications. May God bless him in his future. Wherever he goes, they'll be lucky to have him.

  7. There are many priests in the Catholic Church who are in charge of seminaries who are active homosexuals and are doing great harm to seminaries, seminarians and the Church. They need to be dismissed from their positions before they do more harm.

    1. The author of above comment named a number of priests who are active homosexuals in charge of certain seminaries.

We cannot publish these names without proper proof.

  8. I am a former seminarian and experienced first hand amateurish, perverted, pseudo-Freudian psychology emanating from a little Dean who suffers from Napoleon complex. Connolly and Mullaney are the two biggest dissimulators you could meet who lust after purple. How in the name of God are these gangsters in charge of Maynooth?

  9. Fr Marsden is one of the finest priests I've ever met. He loved his work in Maynooth, and he only resigned because of the gravity of the situation. The bishops must hold an urgent ENQUIRY into the circumstances of his departure. There is something very rotten in the state of the national seminary. The fish rots from the head.

  10. Maynooth “Seminary” and other “seminaries” have not been Catholic for a long time (if they ever were). This situation was prophesied. The Vatican II Sect, under which these “seminaries” operate, is not the Catholic Church but the Whore of Babylon. For more information see MHFM website and YT channel. People need to get out of the Vatican II Sect:

Revelation 18:4- “Then I heard another voice from heaven saying, ‘Come out of her, my people, lest you take part in her sins, lest you share in her plagues…’”

The Catholic Church still exists with the remnant of true traditional Catholics.
