It was Pope Francis who put a stop to priests under 60 being made Monsignors. Maynooth is in a huge mess on account of the appalling leadership. Connolly is out and Ms Mullaney needs to go also.
Why is all this discussion about the President, Vice President and the shambles that has arisen in Maynooth taking up so much space and so much time. Surely there is a very simple solution to the crisis in the national seminary. Sack both Connolly and Fanny Mullaney and install a multi talented, erudite and polished performer. Could I suggest Fr Timothy Bartlett for the post. Kildare Kevin
Tim is far too busy for such a trivial post as President of Maynooth. Anyhooo - his ambitions are far loftier than such a lowly post. And he wouldn't want to upset Fanny Mullaney...
Question for Pat, What do you think is the reason for the bishops continued reluctance to sack the authorities in maynooth and change the rotten system despite the constant feedback of corruption and favoritism to homosexual seminarians?
Did he jump or was he pushed?
ReplyDeleteIs there a storm coming, I wonder.
Bit of both.
DeleteBishops are trying to contain storm.
Will they succeed?
Depends on seminarians / staff members remaing quiet.
Also, new acting president seen as part of the problem !!!!
DeleteIsn't it bad form for a captain to be the first to abandon a stricken ship?
DeleteLooks like Anthony Murphy may have been right after all.
Yes, Anthony Murphy was right.
DeleteFr Mullaney is distraught that he will not get the title of Monsignor because Pope Benedict got rid of it.

DeleteThat is a well supported statement.
DeleteNew acting president is the main problem. He does all the firing. He was really president all but in name.
ReplyDeleteHe is so vexed that he will not get the title of Monsignor because Pope Benedict got rid of it. So sad that this is all that he cares about.
Is Mullaney gay friendly?
DeleteThey all are.
DeleteThey need to get rid of Fanny Mullaney - major part of the problem. Incidentally, he's a close friend of Timo!
ReplyDeleteReturning to Moral Theology?? Bit ironic that. There appears to be a void between the theoretic and practical
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable but actually believable, such is the state of the gulag

No! You may not suggest that unnamable one for the post. What were you thinking?!
