RASHARKIN PARISH - BISHOP CONTINUES NEGLECT

RASHARKIN PARISH - BISHOP CONTINUES NEGLECT

Noel Treanor
Bishop Noel Treanor continues to neglect his duty as a bishop and has still failed to appoint a priest to look after Rasharkin Parish.

I have received the following message from a Mass going parishioner:

Just reading the above message, which is so true but feel I have to update: last Saturday evening, there was a rush of gossip around the village that we were getting his highness coming to celebrate Mass. Being a Sunday Mornin goer, decided to attend Mass on Sat nite, and honestly I would have been better just staying at home. Tis such a shame that blondie had to attend such a well paying parish, that never gives a bother to him, to update them on what is happening, did take him 10 weeks and as a clerical communicator I know he or his wee lads read this page. How dare we the Catholic Mass goes ask him what is de story Noel buddy, all we want is a Priest, is that too much to ask, but the second time he hit the altar with girlish bad temper transfixed us all – Tis your job Sir Noel of the Palace to cover Parishes – yeah we know there is a shortage of Priest, and better than you we know why that is, It is sad that there a shortage of priest but give us a break there is many names still on the diocesan Priests page, Maybe you could get of your throne and start doing something for your keep, the parish has lasted without you for all those absent weeks, and coming in at the 11th hour is simply a butt saving exercise – Finally we don't need you to come to sharkin and patronise us – better when you keep your head in the celestial sand

Rumours were indeed circulating among the people of Rasharkin and the diocesan clergy that Noel Treanor was going to Rasharkin last Saturday night and bringing a "missionary" priest with him to be the live in care taker priest while a new PP was being appointed.

Apparently Noel did make an appearance but there was no new priest with him.

In the men time the PP  - Father John Murray - is still sunning himself in Tenerife and his "Mrs Doyle is there with him to cook his meals and do his washing and ironing.

John Murray

The people of Rasharkin deserve a full explanation about John Murray's lightening disappearance after a stand up row with Noel Treanor on Holy Thursday.

What did John Murray do to bring on such a huge row and such a sudden departure?

Is there any issue that the people of Rasharkin should know about?

Was anyone hurt by the issue?

And most of all in John Golf Murray is not coming back then the faithful parishioners of St Mary's Rasharkin deserve to have a priest appointed to look after their spiritual needs.

St Mary's Rasharkin
Maybe its time the people of Rasharkin wrote to the Congregation of Bishops in Rome to complain of Noel Treanor's neglect?

  1. Write to the Congregation of Bishops in Rome? May as well play Russian roulette with a full chamber. It is pointless, I think, asking a Roman hierarch to investigate another such hierarch: the episcopal club mentality will naturally work against impartiality and justice. Better to hit these people where it really hurts...their pockets. Withhold Church contributions until Treanor comes to heel. If there is one thing these hierarchs love more than themselves, it's mammon.

    1. I totally agree.

But a lot of Catholics would not do that :-(

If I was the people of Rasharkin I would take over the church and presbytery - like I did in Larne - and appoint my own priest.

I would put the willies up Treanor !!!

    2. Maybe they should invite you Pat to say Mass there next Sunday. That would really put the wind up Treanor !!

    3. You are right. They wouldn't withhold their contributions, would they? They've been too well trained to obedience by the hierarchs.

Not for nothing are they known as 'sheep'. A pity. But there it is.

    4. He might like that lol

    5. And Pat would have no problem going - and I have a few priests I could lend Noel :-)

    6. +Pat, I know I'm going off topic here, but I must tell you that my sister's boyfriend, from Larne, knows you and recently spoke very highly of you to me.

      Thought you should know.

    7. Thank you. And thank him for me :-)

    8. The Catholic people of Rasharkin are CATHOLICS. They are not "sheep". Why would we refuse money to our own Church to see it close? Why would we appoint our own "priest"? He would not be a true priest of the Catholic Church, if we did. A priest, Fr O'Kane, has now be sent to us by the bishop. I am not going to speculate on the problems surrounding Fr Murray. A lot of people weren't happy with him either. We go to Mass to worship God and to pray to Him. We are not there on account of the priest. The Church has survived rascal priests, bishops and popes. The Catholics in Rasharkin will survive all this too. Some people don't need much of an excuse to stay away from Mass and gossip.

    9. Withholding money is a crude and typically ignorant knee jerk that will not hurt the Bishop or Fr Murray. It will hurt the Parish. The Parish is not Fr Murray or Bishop Treanor and to refuse to maintain our Church would be cutting off our noses to spite our faces.

    10. 10:27, have you ever tried it? No? Then how would you know?

One thing I do know for sure: money really matters to Bishop Treanor, given the exorbitant (some might say 'obscene') amount of cash he spent rennovating his home. And whose money was it? Have a guess.

Have to agree with you Magna Carta regarding the withholding of money it maybe a knee jerk reaction as stated by anonymous @10.27 but i wouldnt say crude. as we all know over his time in Rasharkin JM was ruled by money and the ability to spend it. He was the one to put the parish in debt for the first time in many years and maybe if we as a parish stop paying for his mistakes and let NT take over the repayment of said debt maybe then he will take note that Rasharkin people will not be fobbed of with the current situation regardless of whether the priest is here short or long term. Father O'Kane himself doesnt appear to be aware its until futher notice

    12. Noel Treanor's "Until Further Notice" would involve sufficient material for a Ph.D.

    13. I dont even think NT knows himself what his until further notice means. Its only meaningless words from his to try to appease the well trained sheep of Rasharkin

  2. Marc Ouellet is a French Canadian, not yet dry behind the ears in Rome. A good guy in Canada anyway.

As one of the faithful of Rasharkin can I just clarify last Saturday night his royal prat did celebrate mass in our dear wee forgotten village and brought with him a missionary by the name of Father O'Kane who was to be in situ until further notice. Again the next day on a glorious Sunday morning while celebrating the 11am mass in the graveyard for cemetery sunday outgoing covering priest Father McNally again introduced Father O'kane as being responsible for "sharkin" for the foreseeable future until its time to move the priests around again AND more importantly he also stated that aforementioned Father John Murray had tendered his resignation as he turned 75 earlier last month and even Father McNally had been allowed to retire at 75!!! which is it did he tender his resignation or did he retire because he cant have done both.

    1. Thank you for that clarification.

Normally parish priests retire in the parish and have a big going away party and are given an oil painting and a cheque for many thousands.

But your PP disappeared in an hour and emigrated suddenly!

There IS a very serious explanation for that!

I just hope that the parishioners do not have to deal with a currently unexploded bomb!

    2. Missionary priest O'Kane?
Would that be Hugh O'Kane SMA from Ballycastle?
It's hardly James from Cushendun or Peter from Dunmurray.
      Anybody know?

yes Pat I totally agree. To me tendering his resignation was an admission that something more serious was afoot and this just clarified his midnight flight was done in a moment of haste. Can you confirm Pat if you are aware of the reason and at this moment in time cannot not voice the reason. If this unexploded bomb involves our wee parish or possibly the aforementioned disappeared?? now rather worried and frustrated

    4. It is my belief that the cause of resignation is from JM's time before he came to Rasharkin and also involves him witholding information from Treanor, thereby embarrassing Treanor. Of course JM has had a most "colourful" life - as D&C clergy know.

    5. Of course that does not rule out a Rasharkin issue 100%. One often finds that issues arise in every parish a person inhabits. Old habits die hard.

ah without a doubt they do Pat and thank you for your honesty. He also had a very colourful present while in Rasharkin too I can assure you. We can only hope the good man above has heard our prayers and we are now somewhat more settled for the foreseeable future

    1. Rasharkin deserves a simple good priest to look after it.

  5. This could be a Fr Brian o'Kane SMA recently returned from the missions

  6. As mentioned above Pat. What would happen if you did show up either in church or in a local venue.
