ARCHBISHOP MARTIN REMOVES HIS SEMINARIANS FROM MAYNOOTH !!!

MAYNOOTH SEMINARY BREAKING NEWS!

ARCHBISHOPS MARTIN REMOVES HIS SEMINARIANS FROM MAYNOOTH

MAYNOOTH / GAY-NOOTH
This Blog has just been informed by an inside source at Maynooth that Archbishop Diarmuid Martin of Dublin is removing his seminarians from the scandal torn Maynooth seminary and sending them to The Irish College in Rome this September.

ARCHBISHOP MARTIN

The Blog has also been told, by the same source that SIX OTHER SEMINARIANS will not be returning to Maynooth in September.

This brings the already dwindling number of seminarians down by another EIGHT.

The Blog has already been contacted by a prospective seminarian who told us that has decided not to enter Maynooth after recent revelations.

Blog readers will recall how this Blog told the story of an ex seminarian from the Archdiocese of Dublin who claimed that he had suffered sexual harassment in Maynooth and had left of his own accord and how after an in house investigation he appealed his case to his bishop - Diarmuid Martin and the Papal Nuncio.

At the time the ex seminarian was unhappy with lack of action by Archbishop Martin and the Papal Nuncio.

In any event it is good to see Archbishop Martin taking action at this stage.

It is a well known fact that there is no love lost between Archbishop Martin and the other Irish Bishops. This is because of the strong stance Archbishop Martin too on clerical sexual abuse in the Irish Church and its cover up. Diarmuid Martin went as far as to demand the resignation of the two auxiliary bishops of Dublin - resignations that Rome did not accept.

In a taped interview with protester John Deegan outside the gates of Maynooth Archbishop Martin can be overheard saying that he is "barely tolerated in Maynooth".

Archbishop has also told people that when he is present at the Irish Bishops meetings in Maynooth on four occasions a year he does not eat with the bishops but takes a stroll out into Maynooth village to grab a cup of tea in a local coffee shop.

Archbishop Martin of course has never fully made his views on Maynooth and his fellow bishops known. If he did I think we hear some astounding things.

The other big outstanding issue facing Maynoth between now and September is the future of the Kerry deacon Sean Jones.

DEACON JONES

Last week this Blog reported that Deacon Jones had been frequenting an unusual website for a deacon to be visiting.

He had been ordained a deacon in Maynooth at the end of May by the Bishop of Cloyne Willie Crean.

BISHOP CREAN

Deacon Jones own bishop is the Bishop of Kerry - Ray Browne. Both bishops Crean and Browne are on holidays until the beginning of August.

RAYMOND BROWNE

Deacon Jones is due to broadcast this coming Sunday morning on RADIO KERRY's Horizons programme at 9 am on MY ROAD TO PRIESTHOOD.

This piece, if it goes out and if it has not been pre-recorded should be interesting.

You can listen to Kerry Radio on line.

******BISHOP OF WATERFORD AND LISMORE FOLLOWING DIARMUID MARTIN'S LEAD:

PHONSIE CULLINAN

The Blog has been informed that the Bishop of Waterford and Lismore has also decided to send his seminarians to Rome instead of Maynooth.

    1. My understanding is that The Irish College has had a big overhaul.

I hope my understanding is correct.

    2. I hope the Irish bishops are AT LAST getting the message about Maynooth and are acting. If they do not I predict that Maynooth will close. Priest. Dublin Archdiocese.

    2. Of course - there is a real danger he might read the unwelcome truth here.

It would be terrible if the sheep were to lose their blinkers!

  3. Pat has this deacon been in touch with you to deny or admit what he did? Have we had any comment from him? He looks very young. So sad if its true that this guy was ordained a Deacon of Christ's Church.

    1. No. I have no contact from him.

I did speak to several people in the Kerry diocese.

If the deacon gets in touch I will give him a more than fair hearing.

    1. I do not think its down to the blog particularly.

Its down to the fact that the issue is now out in the open - which I hope this blog has helped with.

    2. This blog has helped all right, but others have been writing about issues in St Patrick's seminary for perhaps more than a year in Catholic Voice and Irish Catholic newspapers.

  5. How many Dublin seminarians in total will be moving to Rome?

    1. Only 2 - but one of them in a deacon in his last year !!! Its unheard of to move someone for their last year. D Martin has been unhappy with Maynooth for a long time. Priest. Archdiocese of Dublin.

    2. Thanks. I got the impression that Archbishop Martin was moving all of them. What about the other Dublin seminarians - how can they be left in Maynooth?

    3. I thought that Dublin only had 2 there?

    4. As far as I know 7 seminarians from Dublin were in Maynooth in the 2014-2015 academic year + another 3 started last September.

    5. the 2 dublin guys are being moved to rome because both of them were mentioned in "the letter" that was sent to the bishops and referred to in the irish catholic.

  6. A most interesting development, If other bishops follow suit, Maynooth will no longer be viable as a seminary.

The Irish College, Rome, did indeed receive attention during the Apostolic visitation.

    Maynooth did not.

Why? The problems enjoyed the favour and protection of the "Wounded Healer".

They are members of "the Brady bunch" - a group of fawning clerics - whom Big Aunt Sally Brady is absolutely determined to ensure will receive promotion and preferment - despite the fact that none of them enjoy the esteem, confidence and respect of their peers and fellows.

The Wounded Healer is a very stubborn and obdurate man. The bishops had hoped that he would indeed resign when his involvement in swearing teenage victims of Brendan Smyth to silence came to light.

But no. The big, stubborn, lantern jaw only became more rigidly clenched. He took a wee holiday to reflect and to give one of his courtiers time to dream up....... (drum roll).... that's right.... his rebirth as..... the "Wounded Healer"!!!!

That many of the bishops can't stand Dermot Martin is no secret. His decisive action, however - and that of Waterford and Lismore - would strongly suggest that there is definitely a big problem with Maynooth's "formation" regime.

Even from retirement, the malign and insidious influence of the "Wounded Healer" is evident. His courtesans are also still very much to the fore.

For how much longer though? Phonsie Cullinan is one of those 'new' bishops uncontaminated by the Wounded Healer's mummified hands. Interesting times.

    1. Closed - for years. When I went in in 1970 there were 120 in it - just for Dublin.

  8. GP, I cannot answer the question you posed me at this time. The situation is far more complicated than I can say at this time - with other vulnerable people involved and possible serious actions to be taken. Im sorry I cannot say more just now.

  9. Why will 6 other students not be returning to Maynooth? - what have they done?

    ReplyDelete
  10. No one is saying they have done anything.

Maybe they will be going to other seminaries?
