MAYNOOTH - DUBLIN - GRINDR DEACON

MAYNOOTH - DUBLIN - GRINDR DEACON

THE RECENTLY ORDAINED DUBLIN DEACON - MICHAEL JACK BYRNE - HAS BEEN VERY ACTIVE ON GRINDR!

The above picture - which was / is his Grindr picture is still up on the internet in another of his accounts.

This revelation creates a massive embarrassment for Maynooth Seminary who, in late May, recommended him for ordination to the diaconate.

It also creates a massive problem and embarrassment for his bishop - Archbishop Diarmuid Martin who expected to ordain him to the priesthood in 10 month's time.

DIARMUID MARTIN

It also creates massive embarrassment for Bishop William Crean of Cloyne who ordained him a deacon in Maynooth.

BISHOP CREAN
Sadly, it seems that Deacon Byrne has been sexually active for years and with many people - laymen, seminarians and priests!

Currently he is on holidays in Barcelona with the parish priest of Dublin's Pro Cathedral - Canon Damien O'Reilly.

Canon O'Reilly (left) with Irish President and Archbishop Martin
A source at the heart of the Archdiocese of Dublin is claiming that Caonon O'Reilly bought Deacon Byrne a car as well as clothing and holidays.

Apparently Maynooth sent for Canon O'Reilly and asked him not to be showering gifts on Deacon Byrne as it was causing resentment among the other seminarians.

When Deacon Byrne was made a deacon at the end of May Canon O'Reilly is reputed to have thrown a champagne reception for him in the Pro Cathedral Presbytery.

The above picture shows Deacon Byrne in casual gear, barefooted and slippers on the stairway of the Pro Cathedral in Dublin where he sometimes sleeps over.

Deacon Byrne told me last Saturday night that he has known that he was gay from the age of 13 and that he came out to his parents at that age.

He also told me that he had told Archbishop Martin that he was gay.

But he also said to me that he was not sexually active - a claim that I do not now believe.

ALL THE NICE PRIESTS LOVE A SAILOR

Apparently Deacon Byrne misbehaved himself in the first seminary Diarmuid Martin sent him to - Valladolid in Spain with a seminarian from the Allen Hall seminary in London.

Also - before he went to Valladolid he had been interviewed by Maynooth and deemed not fit for entry. At that stage Archbishop Martin sent him to Valladolid.

The next year he was admitted to Maynooth and has been on Grindr and sexually active with seminarians, lay men and priests.

DEACON BYRNE TAKES A "SELFIE" IN A BATHROOM

A source close to Archbishop's House in Dublin said: "Archbishop was told about Michael Byrne and about Canon O'Reilly and has done nothing about it".

Diarmuid Martin says that when he challenges people they lie to him and threaten him with legal proceedings!

This latest BOMBSHELL revelation is a further embarrassment for Maynooth and its Formation Team who judged Deacon Byrne fit for ordination after FIVE YEARS watching him.

Of course this problem is not exclusive to DUBLIN ARCHDIOCESE as every diocese in Ireland and every bishop has seminarians and priests on GRINDR.

But a Dublin parish priest said this morning:

"DUBLIN IS A HOTBED OF PRIESTLY PROMISCUITY. DIARMUID MARTIN NEEDS A MASSIVE CLEAN UP"

And as Maynooth Seminary collapses into total dysfunctionality the archbishop and bishop trustees are having an "emergency" meeting in 5 weeks time!!

And two weeks from now a fresh bunch of seminarians will enter Maynooth and will be introduced to its gay subculture and to Grindr.

Obviously there can be no question about ordaining Deacon Byrne a priest in 10 months time.

And surely only TWO DUBLIN SEMINARIANS will be going to Rome?

And what about the Pro Cathedral and Canon O'Reilly?

THE BLOG HAS ALSO RECEIVED QUESTIONS ABOUT A LAY PERSON WORKING IN ARCHBISHOP'S HOUSE, DUBLIN WHICH I HAVE PASSED ON TO ARCHBISHOP MARTIN.

  3. It's ironic that Bishop Crean came down heavily on politicians and the media last May accusing them of trying to destroy the Church. He was preaching at the ordination of the deacons in Maynooth!!!!!

... and if one green bottle should accidentally fall...

  5. As shocking as this may appear it is rather old news. Has everyone in Maynooth been living under a rock or chained to a radiator in Libya for the past number of years!!!

  6. Observing this unfolding scandal with a heavy heart, the following seems clear:

    Those complaining are some heterosexual and homosexual seminarians who feel harassed and even discriminated against, by some staff and fellow students;

    Seminarians who call themselves "orthodox" - some would call them "right-wing" - who are being "persecuted for trying to be faithful to Church teaching and traditional devotional practice;

    Gay seminarians who have been forcibly "outed" by Deans;

The only ones NOT complaining are sexually active, mostly gay, seminarians, some of whom may be "pets"/"favourites", of the "gay-friendly" Formation Team and other highly-placed individuals, in Maynooth and dioceses.

All of the above point to a gravely dysfunctional administration, in Maynooth, that requires RADICAL attention and IMMEDIATE addressing.

Yet the Trustees are doing NOTHING!!! WHY????

  13. Why do the same names keep being published on here and others like Mcelroy are left untouched. Thats not really fair if you are outing some and victimizing them while others are left alone.

    1. Oh, they won't be left untouched (metaphorically of course since we know physically is totally possible in this case). Pat. I think it's time that those who are getting an easy time here and are the ones like 'Rory' McEl. who get away with things for too long are shown for what they really are. Ironically, Byrne and Mcelroy who have been on a witch-hunt down in Maynooth for all those that are on to them have now become the huntED. anyone who caught them two were reported as bullying and were ostracized by the gay group. they made Maynooth a hell this year and God is dealign justice. Anon.14:41 and those screaming mercy....God is just also and mercy isnt given to those prancing around pretending to be holy and in the name of the Church having sex all round them. Pat, I think it's time that what some of us in Maynooth have that would certainly show these peeople for what they are is handed over. Keep your watch...there is evidence to come.

    2. Maybe I could suggest you spend some time studying the theology of Divine Justice, in particular how it differs from human notions of justice. The writings of the greek fathers of the Church on this subject are well worth engaging with.

  14. Well, I suppose he is kind of cute - for now. He looks to me as though he is going to get podgy over the years. And when he loses his good looks, all the attention and the goodies that appear to be lavished on him now will come to an end ! Then he will have to find another reason for staying in the priesthood other than being the centre of attention and focus.

What is happening, when after 5 or 6 years in what is supposed to be formation, personal, spiritual, emotional, that we are still producing immature and self-centred deacons and priests who seem to think that the priesthood is a vehicle for their own pleasure and amusement, as evidenced in cars, fine clothes, jewellery, money, holidays, fine dining and fine wines ? And recreational sex, because I am sure there is not the slightest sense of commitment and fidelity to any of the relationships that these young men act out.

There is something radically wrong with the formation system. Someone needs to get a grip here and sort this out. If the bishops can't do it, then Rome needs to step in and do the business. Otherwise we will be left with a priesthood of selfish, narcissistic little sissies prancing around the place fulfiling their own venal pleasures - all supported by offerings of the good, faithful people.

    1. Well said, Anon at 14:08! You're dead right.

This scandal is an assault on the very nature of the priesthood and how men are prepared and formed, for Ordination and a life of priestly service.

What is going on in Maynooth is a SICK JOKE!! And it is time the jokers - staff and students - were removed one and all.

These unsuitable seminarians, also their clerical sugar-daddies, are bringing contempt and scorn upon the Church.

      ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

Are some of the bishops compromised too? Is that why they are afraid to act? The reason for the collective paralysis?

      Delete
    2. YES! Some of the bishops are compromised - both by their own deeds and by the covering up of all of this - which they all know about.

Some years ago a priest in Down and Connor was caught cruising in his car in a gay cruising area.

The matter was reported to the then bishop Cahal Daly by the Chief Constable of the RUC John Hermon.

Bishop Daly sent for the priest and asked him to change his car!

While Daly is dead, the priest is still alive and still "at it".

  15. to the poster at 13: 58 - The young man in question is soon to be ordained a priest in the Catholic Church and he will therefore stand before people representing the Catholic Church and all that the Catholic Church represents. All people are entitled to a private life but if you're going to stand before people purporting to represent what the Catholic Church teaches then you had better not have a Twitter, Grindr Snapchat account or any other social media account that directly contradicts in 'private' what you publicly represent. It's called hypocrisy and it needs exposing.

He could dismiss him cold, send him off never to darken the door of Archbishops house again, or he could work with him, help him to find the right way in life for him and possibly even "redeem" his vocation to the priesthood.

Sadly I don't think the second option (which seems to me the more christian option) would satisfy those who are currently baying for blood.

One thing is for sure, publishing his details will make any redemption all the more difficult as, sadly, people will be swift to make judgements based on his past... its too often forgotten that some of our greatest saints began life as great sinners.

    1. I had a one and a half hour communication with Deacon on Saturday might / Sunday morning.

I asked him to be honest with me and I would try and help him sort it out.

I had a lot of information at that time and gave him the opportunity to be honest with me.

He lied to me on several important matters.

      Being gay is no problem.

Being sexually active when you uphold and preach celibacy and chastity is a problem,

Creating a whole web of lies is a sad way to start priesthood.

I also think that Deacon Byrne has been very hurtful to Diarmuid Martin who knew he was gay but was giving him every benefit.

I feel truly sorry for Diarmuid Martin in this. He is far from perfect but he is the best bishop we have in Ireland.

He is clearly immature and has a great deal to learn. He should be supported in this learning journey by the older and wiser around him not taken advantage of.

      Good or evil.

  29. I doubt very much he was on the grindr dating site. I've contacted the student he was meant to be 'seeing' on facebook and he blocked me. I was simply informing him of this blog and if he wished to talk with Pat and clear the situation up but he blocked me. oh well!

  30. Even if this man was on grindr he doesn't deserve this kind of publicity - if we follow that reasoning the name of every adulterer should be posted in the market square for all to see.

Im with Pope Francis when he says the Church is a field hospital for sinners not a museum for saints. If the students in maynooth think the way to deal with their brothers sinfulness, or to settle division is to broadcast it across the web then God help those who, in future years, will approach them in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

I sincerely hope that this man will find the wise counsel he obviously needs, and that having had his sin thrown up for all to see he will be left now to get on with his life.
