MAYNOOTH - FANNY MULLANEY

MAYNOOTH - FANNY MULLANEY

MAYNOOTH - FR MICHAEL "FANNY" MULLANEY

A few weeks ago we were told that Hugh Connolly - the president of Maynooth was going away on a year's sabbatical and that the vice president - Michael Fanny Mullaney was going to acting president for a year.

During this year the Irish Bishops had said that they would be advertising for a new full time president.

But these last few days we see Hugh Connolly all over the news making a dog's dinner of answering a whole host of allegations about Maynooth.

And there has neither being sight or sound of the ACTING PRESIDENT, Fanny Mullaney - who, as things stand, will be welcoming this year's intake of new seminarians on August 23rd - in 17 DAYS TIME!

Surely with the totally incompetent Connolly away on his travels for a year it will be Fanny Mullaney who will have to steer the sinking ship?

And it was Fanny Mullaney that was walking with Hugh Connolly in the Maynooth corridors when Anthony Murphy tried to show Connolly the picture of the semi naked seminarian.

Connolly refused to look at the picture and Mullaney called security on Anthony Murphy.

Imagine calling security on a devout Catholic layman and Catholic editor who was trying to give you evidence of a seminarian on GRINDR - even if the source of the evidence was not known ???

What kind of priest or priests hide behind security guards when the truth and the well being of the seminary are at stake ???

A current seminarian at Maynooth told me in the past few days that Mullaney got his nickname "Fanny" when he was teaching at the seminary in Thurles - which has now being closed down.

THURLES

Thurles had its own reputation for gay seminarians having sex with each other and even posting naked pictures of themselves on the internet - if not on GRINDR.

The picture below has been sent to me by a priest of Mullaney's diocese of Cashel and Emly and shows a former seminarian of Thurles showing off his "cheeks" on the internet.

Apparently this student, who was later dismissed from Thurles tried to seduce a young married electrician who came into the college to fix some of the electrics in the shower area.

****Tonight I have had contact from a person whose friend think that the above bottom pic is him. It is not! The person whom this picture belongs to has the initials GC. This pic IS NOT a person from the West of Ireland. ***** Apparently a similiar picture was placed on another blog stating that this was the other man and not GC. There is no connection!

There is no suggestion that this happened during Fanny's time in Thurles or that he was part of disciplining the cheeky seminarian.

The incident and pic shows that other seminaries, apart from Maynooth had their fay subculture too.

Probable the worst seminary of them all was St Peter's in Wexford which has also been closed down.

MAYNOOTH INDEPENDENT BODY

On RTE Radio 1 yesterday Hugh Connolly said that there was an independent panel to investigate complaints at Maynooth.

But two seminarians on the programme before him said they had never heard of such a panel !!!

TODAY - ALL OF A SUDDEN the following appears on the Maynooth web site today:

Please click on the link below to read our Dignity at work/study policy and complaints procedures.
The independent panel may be contacted at: independentpanel2@gmail.com
The author of the website piece, as you can see above, is an "M COLLINS"? Could it be one of the Directors of Formation Fr Michael Collins>
"M COLLINS"
Did panicky Hugh rush home from RTE and say to Mickey Collins - "FOR F*** SAKE WRITE A QUICK PIECE ABOUT AN INDEPENDENT PANEL AND PUT IT ON OUR WEBSITE"?

I wonder who is on this independent panel?

- Peter Casey - son of Bishop Eamon "Annie Murphy" Casey?

- Phonsie Ledwith - nephew of Monsignor Michael "New Age" Ledwith?

- Mary Connolly - sister of Monsignor Hugh "Cowboy" Connolly?

- Nicola Comiskey - niece of Bishop "Paddy Powers" Comiskey?

- Ronan Cleary - son of Father Michael "The Womaniser" Cleary?

- Brenda Smyth - niece of Father Brendan "Suffer the Little Children" Smyth?

AND HOW ARE SEMINARIANS TO CONTACT THIS "INDEPENDENT" PANEL?

BY THIS  EMAIL ADDRESS:    independentpanel2@gmail.com   !!!!

GMAIL?  REALLY?

IS THAT = GRINDER-MAIL ???

What professional body has a GMAIL address ???

Who will receive the emails - Connolly ? Mullaney ? M Collins ?

The whole thing is an out and out FARCE !!!

The IRISH CATHOLIC BISHOPS and the MAYNOOTH STAFF are running around like headless chickens!

  3. If Connolly has taken an injunction against kelly, it's a pretty futile exercise, is it not?

Lots of stuff in today's IT.

Obviously, the sudden appearance of a gmail address on the College website, indicates that their complaints procedures are not as robust and transparent as Connolly has been claiming and, now, they are scrambling at playing "catch up". Indeed, who do they think they're kidding?

Why no names of the "independent" complaints board? Because they are desperately busy trying to recruit one NOW.

It would be laughable if it wasn't so serious. The skit letter from "Cardinale Piccoli-Testicoli" sums the whole situation up well - FARCICAL!

It's obvious that those with but a moderate level of perception and an inquiring mind can see through the whole charade and farrago of fantasy being put out by the hierarchy, of which Connolly's interview on RTE yesterday was an accurate and striking example. If this is the level of intellect and probity from the man in charge of seminarians then surely the die is cast for it all to end,..... and both the title and final lines of TS Eliot's oft quoted poem is surely appropriate for Maynooth's demise:
    "The Hollow Men"
This is the way the world ends.......not with a bang,
    but a whimper.
I started this comment referring to perception and an enquiring mind. What is regrettable is that very many Irish Catholics, especially the older generation, reared in almost forelock tugging awe and reverence of the clergy, just do not doubt nor question very much. For some it is psychologically threatening to accept that much of what they've been "taught" is a facade and sham. For others, the social bonds created around their church membership embraces them in continuing allegiance. And of course there are those others fortunate to have a genuine inspiring spiritual pastor generous with his time and efforts for parishoners benefit.
It seems to me that the bulwark of these latter non questioning "faithful" still maintain a majority especially among the older generation, and their financial support and greater involvement in church affairs serves to sustain the clerical club's delusional belief that they can maintain their positions of power and influence. I say delusional with intent, for indeed the traditional clerical mind set is deluded in their self importance as upholders of truth and "the church".
But things ARE changing, slowly but surely, with occasional catalytic spurts, of which this present Maynooth saga is a good example.
So "more power to the elbows" of those keeping up the pressure for change.
[My motivation for these comments is much influenced by knowledge of the sheer hypocrisy of much of the RC church, and in particular, I have despaired at having had to act as executor for elderly relatives leaving large financial gifts to "the Church", and current knowledge that some aged neighbours with no relatives are considering doing likewise. Oh the shame of it!]

    1. I don't know that despair is an entirely fair response. I have no dependants, and though I don't have much I do intend that it all goes to my local parish. Why? Not because I am fearful or overawed by the clergy who serve there (though we have been blessed with many good men), but because the house of God and the work that is done there is the most important thing in my life, and I want to support it in whatever way I can for the next generation as a house of prayer. My faith, which I like to think is educated, informed and contemplative, has been formed within its walls. The many scandals we have all seen over the years will not change the need for our local church, and I make my bequest knowing that the Church isn't perfect. It does, however, bring an immense amount of good into the world from those many faithful people - lay people, religious and clergy - who keep looking to heaven and do their best to building God's Kingdom here on earth.

I hope that that doesn't make you despair.

also as NO contact details for this independent panel (if it did even exist until recently) are given, do you honestly think seminarians are going to contact the presidents office and ask for these details, without realising that in the act of so asking that they are allowing themselves to be identified when the independent panel contact the president afterwards regarding a certain seminarian's complaint.

  12. Bishop Pat - this is just for your attention - the copy and paste from the Kalendarium to that document which is now being promoted on the website, I can confirm, was done yesterday by Fr Michael Collins (dean/director of formation).
Orginally he simply added that suspect email address. After a few minutes that original document was removed.
In it's place is now the same document but now with the email address and the name of Sr O'Neil.

If I had to guess, they first created the email account (as,until it's appearance here, there has been no sight of it anywhere) but realizing that it alone was too dodgy, they then rang around looking for someone to fill the position.
I wonder if Sr O'Neil was contacted, what would she answer if asked
how long has she been in this role?
how long has she had access to that email address?
Furthermore did she herself create that email account?
If not, perhaps certain members of staff also can access it (an easy way to identity whistleblowers)
    Just some thoughts.

  15. On C4 News during the week, a reporter set up a Grindr account and, almost immediately, a seminarian linked to him. The reporter was looking for seminarians to talk about the crisis.

The one who contacted him on Grindr said that he uses the app only to "talk" to gay men - not for sex (yeah right).

What I was wondering - is it possible for someone to set up a Grindr account for someone without their knowledge, using a picture of the person filched from facebook or Instagram, etc?

I'm just wondering - is there any danger at all that King Puck, or any of the others hinted at, have been "set up" on Grindr by people who don't like them?

Btw, if that is King Puck, in the now famous picture that Connolly wouldn't look at, (can't say I blame him - it's #hideous), I would say he has by now burnt or buried that "fetching" jock strap before Fanny Mullaney or Cowboy Connolly demands to go through his knicker drawer!

    4. It’s easy to fake a profile on Grinder all you need is an address – you don’t even need to apply a picture to your profile.

If you weren’t ‘out’ or being clandestine you wouldn’t have your face on your profile – you would show of your body, have it blank or have a picture of a tree! In fact, if there was a profile with a seminarian’s face plastered over it I would be suspicious it was fake.

Once you engage in an initial conversation you have the option of exchanging pictures of anything. Indeed, some people are not slightly interested in anything above the shoulders so theoretical, two seminarians would not know who each other were until they physically meet. Wouldn't you get a shock if you accidentally arranged to meet HC in the disabled toilet in PJII Library!

In King Puck’s case though, it’s highly unlikely someone stole that picture from Facebook and created a fictitious account.

  17. The Book of Daniel Ch 5 vv 1-31, recounts Belshazzar's Feast.

He gave a great banquet, drunken and debauched, with 1000s of his nobles. He sent for the sacred vessel of God's Temple to be brought so they could use them at this bacchanalian event.

A human hand appeared on the wall near Belshazzar writing - 'mene mene tekel upharsin'. No one in his kingdom could interpret the meaning. Scripture says that Belshazzar's "face turned pale and he was so frightened that his legs became weak and his knees were knocking".

Only the prophet Daniel could interpret the meaning of the mysterious message: "mene, mene, tekel, parsin

“Here is what these words mean:

Mene: God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end.
Tekel: You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.

Parsin: Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians”.

At least Belshazzar had the wit to be very afraid at the imminent judgement of God upon him - not so the dyed-in-the-wool-arrogant men of Gaynooth.

They engage in cynical, face-saving, last-minute, pointless antics. Their "fig leaf", however, is too little, too late.

Men of monumental and thoroughly ingrained ARROGANCE, using the sacred vessels of God's holy priesthood for their "careers", to further their own selfish ends and interests.

God has brought your days to an end. You have been measured in the scales and found wanting. Your number is up.

    2. We are back to this again!! 6/8 at 15:19. 'I am sure they [the Bishops ] will act and they are just waiting for the right time to do it discretely.' Really??
I refer to a letter sent to Bishops Conference early June - 2 months ago / 8-9 weeks ago, and previously reported on the Blog.

We heard of the following letter sent recently to Eamon Martin:

“A number of seminarians have reported recently the existence of a homosexual subculture within Maynooth.

A seminarian who reported this behaviour was recently expelled from the seminary, while those reportedly engaging in said behaviour remain in formation. Those who protest it and stand for what is right are suspended from the seminary and their good names are tarnished. Often there are unfair and biased reports suggesting that seminarians take “time out” from formation because they are “theologically rigid”.
This is a matter of utmost seriousness and urgency. I therefore ask that you, the Primate of All Ireland, and the president of the National Conference of Catholic Bishops, initiate a serious discussion on this deplorable state of affairs in our national seminary at the earliest Bishop’s Conference meeting in Maynooth on June 7th – 9th.

      The response, also early June:
BELOW IS THE FULL RESPONSE, SENT ON BEHALF OF ARCHBISHOP EAMON !!

I wish to acknowledge receipt of your email.
Please be assured that the formation of seminarians is of the utmost importance to me and to all the bishops.
With every blessing and kindest regards
      Archbishop Eamon

How much time do they need to act?? I suggest that by their deliberate inaction and possible obstruction the Bishops have made matters worse than they needed to be.

  28. This whole carry on and cack handed performance of the crowd in Maynooth trying to defend this is an absolute classic example of what we in the PR world call a clusterfuck.
It should have been dealt with a month ago by professionals when the first sparks were evident. Too little, far too late.

we need to be inclusive, right? :)

Those 4 musketeers have a lot of neck, we need to give them that at the very least! Anyone else in such positions would not be so ''brave'' and would have apologized for their actions and inactions and have stepped down long ago by now,, or maybe brave isn't the most suitable word,,

    2. if the Bishops guarantee that they will reform Maynooth before the year is out (i.e. radically change the formation program for the better, implement protection for whistleblowers, and replace all the formation staff) would you withhold that information?? It doesn't seem the seminary will be able to withstand much more!

      Delete
    3. Ah good grief - worse to come? What else is there?

    4. It's too late to stop the Sunday papers now. If there is more and worse to come, they are already printed.

Maynooth and the bishops have known this was coming down the tracks for months now.

They acted with characteristic arrogance, pride, stupidity, denial, incompetence, irresponsibility and inertia.

Shame on all of them. They deserve what they get.

The Catholics of Ireland deserve better than these pathetic bishops who are excuses for men of God.

The good seminarians in Maynooth deserve better than the corrupt system currently in place.

  35. the name is still there - but don't worry, it's not your fault, as you must have been reading one of the many versions of this recent 'policy' update created since a few hours ago
It seems that the policy finally has got an 'independent panel' .... as of yesterday! Apparently it was non-existent until the pressure was put on them after that interview
with the mad rush to create the newly formed 'panel' they accidently chose a Nun for the chairperson for it (forgetting that it was supposed to have no religious members! .. looks like they themselves cannot even remember the stories that they are spinning) and in the panic to add someone they got the name wrong
it's Sr O'Neill (not O'Neil) as they wrote in the link - they also misspelled Chairperson. Looks like the signs of stress are showing now as they approach their impending doom

  41. "The court was told how Mgr Hugh Connolly, Frs Paul Prior, Michael Mullaney, Michael Collins and Sr Breege O’Neill, were drinking in Cassidy’s Roost, Maynooth, Co Kildare, at approximately 4pm on the afternoon of Saturday August 6th, 2016.

The bar-tender, a Mr Damo O’Byrne, giving evidence before Judge Perpetua Dawson-O’Shaughnessy, described the scene as it unfolded:

“Was an ordinary Saturday afternoon, bunch a lads watching the Donegal vs Dublin match, skullin a few pints.

Next thing a chair came flyin’ through the air towards the bar. Was a lot of shoutin’ and roarin’ coming from one of the snugs”.

Mr O’Byrne went on to describe how he went over to intervene and was surprised to see four middle-aged priests and a well-dressed nun, locked in a heated exchange, gathered around a lap-top computer.

He said, the defendant identified as Mgr Connolly, had Fr Collins in a head-lock and was shouting, ‘ye haven’t the hands to wipe yer fuckin’ arse, ya fuckin’ Killaloe cxxt!”

Defendant no.2, Fr Collins, was shouting in a highly strangulated tone: “let go of me, ya big bastard” and grabbed Mgr Connolly’s cowboy hat from his head and fired it.

It hit Sr O’Neill who was taking a gulp out of a pint of Guinness, causing her to spill it all down the front of her blouse.

Sr O’Neill let out a piercing yell and screamed, “that feckin’ blouse cost me feckin’ €3000 in bastardin’ Brown Thomas!”.

She then grabbed what appeared to be a knitting needle out of her handbag and lunged towards Fr Collins.

However, she lost her balance and stuck it instead in Fr Mullaney’s left upper thigh.

Fr Mullaney let out a yelp and burst into tears.

At this stage, Fr Prior who had been sitting slumped, in a silently morose heap, staggered to his feet and it was he who hurled the chair towards the bar.

He then grabbed the lap-top computer and, according to Mr O'Byrne, indicated to Fr Collins that he intended to “shove it up your arsehole”.

There then ensued a violent altercation between all five persons, causing criminal damage to the premises and minor injuries to other customers.

Mr Damo O'Byrne said: "Jaysus, it was some ruck so it was. Couldn't make out much of what was being said but it was a fierce racket altogether.

They were roarin' at each other stuff about "Dignity at work/study policy and complaints procedures", "knowin' fuck-all about fuck", "fuckin' King Puck", "fuckin bastard journalists", "that bastard Buckley", "that wanker Martin" and "the gay-dating app, Grindr".

"It was total bedlam", said Mr O'Byrne. "Worst I ever saw in 30 years of pullin' pints".

Mr O'Byrne told the judge that he called An Garda Síochána who duly arrived and arrests were made. The trial continues....”

  42. Irrespective of the truth or falsity of the allegations concerning Maynooth seminary, the only right course is to shut it down because its management has lost all credibility with the Faithful.
It is the responsibility of the bishops to train those called to the priesthood.
In the past, with numerous vocations, it may have made sense to delegate this responsibility to seminaries. But the numbers of intending priests are so few that the bishops themselves can easily assume their traditional responsibility for the formation of those called to serve God and His people.

  47. Re the closing down of the deacons social media accounts, two possible reasons:
    1. Because photos from them were lifted and reposted on this blog, presumably without his consent (a breach of copyright by the way).

    2. The resulting comments generated by the posting included his sexual objectification e.g. "I wouldn't kick him out of the bed on a cold night" and "Deacon Michael Byrne is HOT" as well as idle speculation about his formation, and given the context of the discussion, some subtle innuendo about his sexuality.

Maybe thats why he's closed them down?
