MAYNOOTH - SECRET DOCUMENTS

MAYNOOTH - SECRET DOCUMENTS

WHAT YOU SEE ABOVE is Monsignor Hugh Connolly "initiating" the First Year seminarians of Maynnoth in St Mary's Oratory.

In a recent RTE INTERVIEW Monsignor Connolly said that there were no BITS OF PAPER present at these initiations!

What can you see above in the seminarians hands - THAT'S RIGHT - sheets of paper !!!

Our ex seminarian had claimed that there were bits of paper present at his initiation in 2007 and that on those bits of paper were written the things that the seminarians were signing up to in signing the big old book - the so called ALBUM ALUMNORUM.

On those bits of paper in 2007 the seminarians were told that in signing the big book they were signing up to:

THE UNDERTAKING TO OBEY DILIGENTLY THE RULES OF THE COLLEGE AND TO NOT ENGAGE IN TALK THAT WOULD UNDERMINE THE COLLEGE

NOT TO LEAD OTHER SEMINARIANS TOWARDS CONTEMPT OR VIOLENCE

NOT TO SPEAK ABOUT ANYTHING SEEN, HEARD OR EXPERIENCE IN THE COLLEGE

TO ACCEPT AND AGREE WITHOUT QUESTIONB TO BEING ASKED TO LEAVE BY THE MAYNOOTH STAFF OR BISHOPS.

THE TITLE OF THE DOCUMENT WAS

ALLEGIANCE TO THE COLLEGE

We have heard no more from Monsignor Connolly after his unfortunate journey into the media to deny the existence of any bits of paper.

Presumably some one has told him to stick to his day job in moral theology and not to try and become a media expert.

But now, here in the 2016 edition of the Maynooth magazine SIOLTA we are presented with a picture of Monsignor Connolly and first years and those dreaded BITS OF PAPER !

Monsignor, do you not read your own magazine Siolta?

Did no one point out that picture to you which contradicted what you said on RTE?

Bad enough if it's the word of one man against another - but when there is a BLOODY PICTURE of the thing you are denying !!!

EXCERPTS FROM TWO LETTERS FROM TODAY'S IRISH TIMES:

Sir, – I want to echo the sentiments of the seminarian quoted in “Maynooth seminarian dismisses criticisms as unwarranted” (August 11th). I spent one year in Maynooth seminary, from 2010 to 2011.
On joining, we did sign a document consenting to abide by the seminary rule.
It must be noted that some students had immense disdain for the seminary council’s approach to formation. Maynooth has produced many a bitter man, lay and ordained. – Yours, etc,
JAMES DOYLE,
Dear James, Thank you for confirming for us that you signed the document that Monsignor Connolly said does not exist.
Sir, – I see that Maynooth is advertising a diploma programme in “Mediation, Negotiation and Conflict Intervention”. Any chance the college authorities and the hierarchy might sign up for it? – Yours, etc,
MARTIN CAHILL,
A very good idea Martin.

CATHOLICISM - MEDIEVAL - TAKES OVER BELFAST HOSPITAL

If you are passing BELFAST CITY HOSPITAL and see white smoke pouring out of the tower there is no need to ring 999

Dom Black

It's just the recent Maynooth GRADUATE - Fr Andrew Black - celebrating the medieval Latin Mass with all the smells and bells he can muster.

HIGHER ANDY ! HIGHER !

Fr Black - a former protestant - is scaring the sh*** out of all the hospital's protestants, unionists, loyalists, atheists and humanist by praying over them in Papish tones.

These medieval Masses take place in a room that is an ecumenical and intedenominational prayer room / chapel.

I wonder how the Free Presbyterians like that?

Andrew has a good teacher in medievalism - his friend - Fr Martin Graham of the cathedral who likes to wear the black biretta that went out of fashion after Vatican 11.

Martin Graham
It seems that MAYNOOTH is producing two types of priests these days - Grinders and Medievalists.

    1. Dom Black spent a short time in Maynooth where he was a member of the Latin Mass subculture who castigated priests and seminarians who were not.

He then went to The Wing and to Rome.

      Check your facts.

    2. Indeed. As an early modernist I would suggest that his Tridentine zeal is more typical of the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries rather than the pre-Luther. Not that I have anything against the Latin mass as an option unless the rest of the congregation turn out to be phalangists and Knights of various orders of the church.

  6. Prayers of the faithful! Seems a bit out of place but you did say somewhere the signing ceremony was para liturgical? No bits of paper. They certainly do exist on the picture. Smells and bells at Belfast City Hospital. It puts a new twist on "Para Liturgical Persuasion" Only the sunglasses are missing. Praying down on other denominations is disgusting.

  7. I know you to be a fair man Pat and one who admits it when he gets it wrong. I think you have got the wrong end of the stick here as this strikes me as what it is - the singing of the College Register. This is standard practice in any college with a historical legacy, though in the case of my seminary the Register I signed went back to before the Reformation. This was a way of inducting the new students into the college after their probationary period. It was done in the context of Evening Prayer and Exposition and Benediction and then we all have a festal meal with plenty of drink. It is a harmless and charming beginning to ones seminary life and I see nothing sinister in it at all. There was no confidentiality agreement, no oath, no secrecy, just a quaint little custom to tell you that you had become part of the college community. I hope you don't mind me pointing this out to you.

    1. Not at all. I always stand to be corrected.

My difficulty here is that I have several ex Maynooth students, some ordained, who were given the details on a piece of paper of what they were signing up to.

What happened in your seminary sounds both charming and enjoyable.

  8. To be quite frank and blunt, if you take a bunch of guys with questionable sexual maturity and put them together in an environment that is highly theologically charged e.g. Conservative v liberal, there is going to be an absolute mess.
The amouny of guys I trained with who now run around with their cassocks, gillets, crisp white shirts and flash cufflinks, with more lace on their liturgical vestments that would put victorian curtains and or queens to shame, is shocking.

When you place such an emphasis on exterior dress sense, it breeds contempt, a puritan sense of entitlement and no True Love of the Eucharist.

Anyway my rant it over. Simply put, there are many guys who avoid there obvious homosexual tendancies and or sexual struggles by dressing up in above clothing.

It breeds a level of effeminacy that is sickening and a poor portrayal of priesthood full stop.

    2. Touche Bishop! Seriously though, I have seen among my class mates this massive swing to the right, which they call orthodoxy but is the complete opposite. Paradoxically Bishop i think we may be on opposite sides, however, on the matter of Maynooth, its sheer level of anti-Christ like behaviour i think we can agree on.

So I put this question to you. Can there be authentic change in Maynooth or do we close it down, along with along other trappings of the institutional Church and return to a Church that loves the Lord of the cloth and not the cloth itself?

  9. I don't think anyone who knows Maynooth is fooled by James Doyle's letter in the IT. The formation team are unfit for purpose at every level. They need to be removed.

Seminarians who, among other things, do not practice the virtue of chastity - a requirement on all the baptised - have no business being there and should be expelled.

  10. The hospital chaplain only ministers to those who ask for his services - so the Protestants, Humanists, etc. are safe from any "Papish" prayers.

The Free Presbyterians do not set foot in the Ecumenical Chapel for that very reason - it is ecumenical - which, for them, is anathema. Also, the "blasphemous" Mass is offered there - a big no no.

It is a puzzle though - the attraction of these younger priests and seminarians - to Tridentine dress and practices.

Is it a fetish, I wonder? Cardinal Raymond "Grandma" Burke is a big hero to these lads.

  12. It should not be a puzzle. The truth does not change. The centrality of Jesus Christ fully present and with us in the eucharist has been present since Jesus established it the night before he died and it is the Eucharist which has preserved the church for 2000 years. Yes there are many sinners especially in the high ranks of the church , satan is alive and well determined to destroy the church. He's doing a fairly good job at present but people of true catholic faith know the Eucharist is everything. That's why there are more and more people realising the beauty, and truth of the Trinidine mass which is going to be central to the revival of the church. We know the fires of hell will never be allowed to prevail I.e overcome the church but it will be severely damaged, hated and ridiculed like Jesus himself on the way to Calvery. So for all the haters of the church both within and outside - do your worst - Jesus will be the ultimate victor. Try reading the book of Job it gives a very good analogy were true faith is tested to the absolute brink but we cannot give up. The Eucharist is the most wonderful gift in the world as more people realise that they are coming back to the traditional Latin mass. Praise Be!!!!!

The First Mass and Only Mass which is celebrated throughout and beyond time was offered in the upper room without roman vestments and and trappings. The Eucharist is more than a narcissistic expression of a shallow faith. Tell me is the tridentine rite more valid than any other rite?

  15. 18.28 you missed the point. What these new younger generations are seeing is the focus being placed more fully on the Eucharist not so much a conversation between the priest and the congregation Eucharist is everything. It is the central focus of the faith , for the new generations coming along who have never seen worship directed towards the Eucharist in such a way its growth again shows the spirit at work. Yes it is difficult to understand , I'm not saying any other mass is less valid what I am saying is that people are rediscovering its beauty. You appear to have an issue the vestments which personally i don't have. All I see is the worship. It's interesting if we look at John chapter 6 verse 66 ( thats correct) we are told that many people left Jesus when he gave this teaching as it was just too difficult to understand, they did not want to believe what it was that he was actually saying to them. Many of his followers at this time were actually repulsed and they left does this sound familiar??The Eucharist has been controversial from day one it is still controversial 2000 years later but the church is still standing look how many empires have fallen in that same time period. This is because Jesus Christ is fully present in the Eucharist he is if you like the beating heart at the centre of the church which will never stop beating. Yes some of the other organs maybe a bit sick but that heart is still beating strong and will until the second coming. Praise be !!!!

    1. At 21.20 In truth i have a problem with effeminate priests placing more of an emphasis on their garb, gillets, cassocks, vestments with a ridiculous amount of lace etc. I have met these priests with their arrogant self righteous judgements of their brother priests who dont wear these old rite vestments. I had one brother priest tell me that a Mass not offered at an Altar is not valid e.g. if Mass was offered in private or away from the Church and not on an Altar. Such arrogance and ignorance of Church teaching.

The Eucharist is central to everything, it is central to all creation. However the Eucharist is not dependent on a rite and the puritanical attitudes of those who purport it to be the only rite.

I love the Mass, the Eucharist, but i get angry when encounter a mindset that has nothing to do with Him.

    2. 21:20 I note your comments on the eucharist but my query relates to all the trappings. Why does a priest have to dress up in frills, lace, beretas, mitres etc to say mass? Like my self the man from Nazareth was a builder. If he came back today he would wear a high viz vest and a hard hat, he would meet with his deciples in a greasy spoon cafe over an ulster fry and probably never make it as far as the tradesmans entrance to Maynooth or Ara Coeli. Neither would he want to! It is high times you girls caught your selves on and dipped a toe into the real world.

The self-righteousness, waspish bitchiness, arrogance and rigid priggishness that goes with it too, is indicative of serious immaturity and, in some cases, downright unsuitability for ministry.

They want to doll themselves up and "perform" a Mass. And then they head off to the gay bar for a few G&T's??? Or jump into bed with the "boyfriend" or "fxxk buddy"?

    5. An awful lot of ad hominem attacks on the traditional Mass. I think that says a lot about those making the attacks...

As a young man who much prefers the extraordinary form, I will say this - I don't care about vestments (though they can add a certain dignity...) and I certainly don't care for Latin. What I do care about is that the traditional Mass is NOT clericalist. The priest and people face the same way - towards the Lord. The priest does not get to put on a show and to impose his personality on the Mass (and on the congregation). If you want to know why so many young people are now fascinated with the older Mass, that's your answer - reverence towards the Lord, and less focus on the priest and his own whims.

    1. I attend the older Mass as often as I can. i don't fetishise it and I resent that insult. I prefer it because the priest does not get to put on a show and impose his own personality over the liturgy. It's more objective and much more appealing to men - real men. Stop focusing on the vestments and focus on the Lord, and then it will click. Perhaps the loss of the older liturgy is why we've so few men in churches now???

    2. Tell the pansies and nancy boys, among the clergy and their attendants, who make up the majority of devotees of the "older Mass", to "stop focusing on the vestments and focus on the Lord"!

Pure nonsense! I was watching the RTE programme on Tues night about Marcial Maciel Degolado and how he could go, from having sexually abused a teenage boy, out on to an altar and fake "ecstasies" during Mass - elevating the Host for long periods of time, pretending to be a saint when, in reality, he was a demon.

It's somewhat akin to seeing a young man walking down the street in a Tudor doublet and hose; or a young lady in the aisles, at Tesco, dressed as an Elizabethan lady-in-waiting.

It must have taken some amount of energy for Andy and his elves to transport all that Tridentine paraphernalia up to the BCH chapel, all to put on a performance for a few aul' biddies from the Legion of Mary.

Maybe the Church should open a number of Tridentine Theme Parks and staff them using these fancy boys? They could then dress up to their hearts content.

You could have rides like - The Spooky Soutane Ghost Train, Ride the Big Brass Candlestick, The Lovely Lace Hall of Mirrors, The Groovy Gregorian Big Dipper... And, of course, the greatest attraction of all, The Grinder. All the fun of the fair....

  21. Pat, take a wee look at this recording of the International Mass from Lourdes on Sunday Aug 14th.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZSI0r_tHd4

The celebrant is Card. Barbarin of Lyons - he was in trouble, this year, for not reporting a paedophile priest to the authorities; but he "got off".

They changed the entire Liturgy on Sunday, in Lourdes, wearing red vestments instead of green and changing the Scriptures of the 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time. For example, the Gospel read is the Last Judgement from Matt 26.

Now my question is this: est son éminence sous l'influence d'alcool pendant la Messe? Or does he normally carry on like that? Il a l'air ivre.... Il semble dérangé.

It is interesting to note that Marmion whom you call a renegade was a supporter of Fr George Tyrell - a great Irishman hounded to his death by the theological thugs of the Inquisition now the CDF. On the other hand he was stabbed in the back by Desire Mercier who posed as a supporter but then denounced him in a famous Lenten pastoral to placate Rome. He was made a cardinal and Tyrell the finest theologian in Ireland or Britain of the time died excommunicated.
