STATEMENT FROM THE MAYNOOTH UNION ABOUT THE SCANDAL

Maynooth Union

The Maynooth Union was founded on the 27th of June, 1895, at a meeting held during the Centenary Celebration of Saint Patrick’s College, Maynooth. The object of the Union is to foster a spirit of mutual sympathy between the College and its past students and friends. For this purpose there will be an annual reunion at Maynooth. Old friends will thus be brought together and memories of College days revived and questions of interest will be discussed”

Constitution of Maynooth Union, June 23rd 1896.

THE MAYNOOTH DEBATE

The Maynooth Union is saddened by the harmful publicity which the College has received in recent weeks. Media coverage has caused much pain and anxiety among people who think of Maynooth Seminary with thankfulness and pride.

The Maynooth Union is grateful for the support for the College given by the Association of Catholic Priests, and by individual priests who on the public media gave an account of their experiences of life at Maynooth and in the ministry. Their contribution made clear how beneficial seminary formation proved for them personally and pastorally. We have no doubt that for great numbers of priests their time in Maynooth was enlivening and demanding, enriching and helpful, if also - inevitably - sometimes difficult, even painful.

A life that included prayer, study, pastoral practice, debate, sport, music, and drama, helped form a priest with a deepened love of God and an appreciation of the wonders of God’s creation. Of course conceptions of ministry and of preparation for priesthood are always influenced by current understandings of Church and Society. During the past fifty years the Irish Church and Irish Society have experienced great challenge and self questioning, and Maynooth has been immersed in this and influenced by it.

In response, the College has continued to develop new courses and new forms of pastoral training. It has sought to integrate itself into a larger university context, and has welcomed thousands of students, lay and clerical, to its chapels, its theology programmes, its libraries and societies, its theatres and its sports fields. The number of students for the priesthood and the profile of those who come forward as candidates both have changed, and those charged with the task of education and formation for ministry have tried to adapt to these changes.

The aim is always to form a priest strong in faith, hope and love, and ready to draw people to hear and live the gospel of Jesus Christ. To be entrusted with this task makes enormous demands of staff and resources. Personal and faithful integrity, the insight to deal sensitively with the problems that arise, the wisdom to judge wisely and organise life are basic requirements.

No system is perfect, and there is always need for re- thinking and reform, but this should be done with a generous acknowledgment of the College’s achievements, past and present and without unnecessary pain and acrimony. The Maynooth Union offers its thanks to Maynooth, and wishes to affirm strongly its continuing support for the President and staff in their mission of forming future priests.

CATHOLIC CHURCH HAS MANY HOMOSEXUAL CARDINALS AND BISHOPS:

MONSIGNOR CHARAMSA WITH HIS PARTNER

A senior Vatican priest, stripped of his post after admitting being in a gay relationship, has launched a scathing attack on the Roman Catholic Church.
The Catholic clergy is "full of homosexuals", it is also "frequently violently homophobic", and he calls on "all gay cardinals, gay bishops and gay priests [to] have the courage to abandon this insensitive, unfair and brutal Church".

He also expresses his fears about the impact his coming out may have on the treatment of his mother in Poland, "a woman of unshakeable faith", saying she bears no responsibility for his actions.

Until  last year Monsignor Charamsa held a senior post at the Vatican at the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, the department that upholds Roman Catholic doctrine.

DOWN AND CONNOR:

BISHOP NOEL TREANOR FLIES TO BREW CITY

Bishop Noel Treanor is saying Mass in Milwaukee today for all those with Irish connections - including anf Irish American Leprechauns.

With his diocese suffering a PRIEST CRISIS and MAYNOOTH engulfed in a GAY SCANDAL Bishop Treanor decided to get away from it all to the CITY OF BEER.

Bishop Treanor is famous for travelling. As they say: GOD IS EVERYWHERE BUT BISHOP TREANOR IN EVERYWHERE EXCEPT IN DOWN AND CONNOR.

The pastoral needs of Milwaukee must be very great?

Liturgy for Peace and Justice - Sunday, August 21, 2016 at 9:30 a.m.

The 2016 Milwaukee Irish Fest Liturgy for Peace and Justice will begin at 9:30 a.m. The Irish Fest Choir for Peace and Justice will begin with a selection of music at 9 a.m.  The gates will open at 8 a.m.
Noel Treanor
The Most Reverend Noel Treanor, Bishop of Down and Connor, will be the celebrant of the Liturgy for Peace and Justice at Milwaukee Irish Fest 2016. Irish Fest is pleased to have Bishop Treanor traveling from Northern Ireland to be with us.

Bishop Noel Treanor was born on 25 December, 1950 at Silverstream, County Monaghan, in the Parish of Tyholland in the Diocese of Clogher. He attended St. Brigid's National School, Leitrim, and completed his early education at St. Mary's C.B.S., Monaghan. He began, in 1968, his study of Arts and Philosophy at St. Patricks College, Maynooth, and later, in 1971, the study of Theology, achieving his Licentiate in Sacred Theology, with special commendation, in 1977.
From 1989 to 2008 he worked with Commission of the Bishops Conferences of the European Communities (COMECE) as Secretary General in Brussels to project Christian values to the European process.
He was appointed Bishop of Down and Connor in 2008.
The many Milwaukee Irish organizations with connections to Ireland and Northern Ireland, such as the Milwaukee Ulster Project and the Friends of st. Patrick Centre look forward to having Bishop Treanor in Milwaukee.
Irish Fest is truly blessed to have a native Bishop of Ireland as celebrant for Liturgy of Peace and Justice during the festival's 36th Anniversary in 2016.

AT BELFAST AIRPORT BISHOP TREANOR MADE A BRIEF COMMENT; HE SAID:

"I'm looking forward to meeting the Leprechauns of Milwaukee - it will be a change from the Fairies of Maynooth".

Well done Noel - as usual he sums everything up in one brief staccato sentence :-)

FATHER JOHN "RASHARKIN" MURRAY:

The disappeared PP of Rasharkin who fled to Spain with his housekeeper within hours of a stand up row with Bishop Noel Treanor has now returned to Northern Ireland.

He and his housekeeper are looking to ourchase a retirement home in the town of Newcastle in County Down.

Newcastle is only 45 minutes from Belfast and just a short drive away from Fr Murray's sister in Castlewellan.

John was also a great friend of Fr Eamon O'Brien who was buried by his clergy brothers yesterday in Newtownards.

OVERNIGHT COMMENT FROM BLOG READER:

Indeed, Lux. And what a rancid and rotting old spiritual corpse is the carcass of Patsy Walsh.

Tootsie was part of a Jack-the-Lad clerical club in D&C. To them, women are jizz rags.

The other side of this coin are the gay crew. Their number has made Tootsie's crowd a minority now. They have been recruiting well.

There are a number of decent priests; but, my God, what a shambles

  1. Wonder if Pontius the Pilot is flying Noel's plane following the comment cited above. Maynooth Union Comment appears to me to be sponsored by Dulux-pure whitewash. I hope the new entrants will be protected but accountability for the past is what needs to be sorted

  2. Went to visit St.Mary's Pro- Cathedral yesterday just to see who was about in the Great Casino. Met at the door by a man sprawled out , sleeping off a bottle or two - Was he at a Parochial Reception?

One can't help but notice the confessionals have no names on them.
The Church was almost empty , except for a nun who was praying with lip motion while she eye balled a picture of Jesus .
Some Devotional Prayers in leaflet form were there for the taking. Interesting lot of prayers ..ending with
    Capital Sins
    1 Pride
    2 Greed
    3 Lust
    4 Anger
    5 Gluttony
    6 Envy
    7. Sloth.

Not a sign of The Good Canon to be had.

Lunchtime Organ Recitals will take place for the month of September at Lunch on Wednesdays at 1.15 Adm 5 euro.
Whose Organ is being used for these occasions ?

I suppose St Mary's looks its best when there is "Lights Cameras and Action" , and lots of colorful costumes ..... and a Brilitine coffered centerfold, bereft of dandruff holding Court .

    Such a Big Empty building.......

  3. The Maynooth Union and the "formators" of Maynooth must be really desperate and stuck if they are welcoming support from the Association of Catholic Priests - a gather-up of cranks whom the Papal Nuncio refuses to meet.

Do readers know that the ACP has three sub-divisions?

    1. The Association of Bitterly Disappointed Men Who Would Have Made Excellent Bishops Themselves (ABDMWWHMEB).

    2. The Priestly Fraternity of St Tony Flannery, Priest and Martyr (PFSTFPM).

    And...

    3. The "Free St Tony Flannery From the Pope's Dungeon" Campaign. (FTFPDC).

The MU statement reads: "The Maynooth Union is grateful for the support for the College given by the Association of Catholic Priests, and by individual priests who on the public media gave an account of their experiences of life at Maynooth and in the ministry. Their contribution made clear how beneficial seminary formation proved for them personally and pastorally. We have no doubt that for great numbers of priests their time in Maynooth was enlivening and demanding, enriching and helpful, if also - inevitably - sometimes difficult, even painful".

Yes, indeed, support from priests like Ger Fitzgerald and former seminarians like Fr Derwin's selfie-buddie -James Doyle.

It goes on: "A life that included prayer, study, pastoral practice, debate, sport, music, and drama, helped form a priest with a deepened love of God and an appreciation of the wonders of God’s creation".

The wonders, indeed, of God's creation... and isn't the male human body one of God's most beautiful creations?

It is very important, therefore, for Formation Directors to know what a seminarian does with his erections, in order to make him appreciate the marvellous workings of his male body.

It is very important for the seminarian to share with the Formation Director how he deals with his erections in prayer, as Mickey can pop up even at the most sacred moments.

The Formation Director absolutely MUST know if the seminarians masturbate - because 99% of men masturbate - and the other 1% are liars. And we don't want any liars in the priesthood now, do we?

The Formation Director is perfectly entitled to EXTRACT from a seminarian his sexual orientation for purposes of demographic research. Indeed, it is the Formation Directors' sacred duty to find out if a seminarian is gay.

You see, its a bit like the PSNI in the North - you need a balance of Prods and Taigs that will reflect the balance in society.

The priesthood is the same - you have to have a balance between the gays and the straights - and the Formation Director needs to ask and needs be told, truthfully, what way the seminarian swings.

The Maynooth boyos have NO CREDIBILITY and their every utterance is making a bad situation worse. Are they so stupid to think that people are taken in by their phoney words and and antics?

Someone needs to go in there "like a wrecking ball".

    1. Excellent comment Galway Girl.

Couldn't agree more with you about the Association of Compromised Priests :-)

    2. Great shtuff, Galway Girl. You must not be aware though of an important subdivision in the Association of Compromised Priests. It's actually part of The Association of Bitterly Disappointed Men Who Would Have Made Excellent Bishops Themselves and it's the "Wouldn't Brendan Hoban Make a Fine Bishop It's Not Too Late He's Too Good For a Hole Like Moygownagh" subdivision.

  4. Have you seen this? https://newwaysministryblog.wordpress.com/2016/08/21/gay-priests-have-a-place-in-the-catholic-church-says-irish-senator/
No mention of the sexual assaults...all about how gay priests should be allowed to be openly gay (there is ambiguity in the article as to whether that includes being actively gay).

  5. The Director of Fornication is surely too compromised to switch hats to defend his first hat simply by wearing his second hat. I am watching Father Ted now on TV and wondering if prhaps life is imitating art now.

  6. Any news on how many freshmen in Maynooth this year? None from Dublin anyway. In previous years the college would release figures today, but this time they might be embarrassingly low, or Hughie the Con man might deem it better to keep well below the radar. But wait, isn't Hugh gone on "sabbatical"? Or has that fiction, like the fiction of the complaints board, now evaporated? Anyhow, I wish the new seminarians well. They have entered the lions' den.

  7. I was wondering where Eamon O'Brien got the unusual nickname "Tootsie".

Then I remembered this little ditty by Denise Lasalle released in 1985.

Eamon would have been at the height of his pulling prowess in 1985. The song could have been written about him by any one of his conquests:

Don't mess with my Toot Toot
Don't mess with my Toot Toot
I know you have another woman
So don't mess with my Toot Toot

When I was born in my birth suit
    The doctor slap her behind
He said: "You're gonna be special
    You sweet little Toot Toot?

So you can look as much
But if you much as touch
You're gonna have yourself a case
    I'm gonna break your face

So don't mess with my Toot Toot
Don't mess with my Toot Toot
I know you have another woman
So don't mess with my Toot Toot.

    1. I heard that just seven - yes 7! - have started their first year in Maynooth this year. I also heard that, excluding those out on their pastoral assignment for the coming year, there will be about 35 seminarians in Maynooth! It can't go on like that.
