"THE MEMORY OF JESUS IS BOTH SACRED AND SUBVERSIVE"

MAYNOOTH AND MARY McALEESE
MARY
McALEESE who has nothing better to do these days has decided to speak out about
the Maynooth Gay Scandal.
Frankly
I do not think very many people are interested in what she has to say about it
- as she is one of those Irish Catholics who have helped create the Bishop
Ridden country that we have had. She spent most of her life licking episcopal
asses.
For
instance on October 1st 2007 she could not wait to get on the telephone at the president's residenceto wish Cardinal "Weasel" Daly a happy 90th
birthday. That's how much she had to do as president that day!
In
any event she accuses Maynooth of NOT BEING GAY FRIENDLY!
Where
has she been. The problem with Maynooth is that IT IS OVER GAY FRIENDLY to the
exclusion and pain of "straight" seminarians and gay seminarians that
want to observe celibacy.
McAleese
then says that the seminarians have not taken their promise of celibacy.
Does
she really think that you can be on GRINDR and humping al around you for five
years and then arrive at the day of your Diaconate and give it all up for ever?
Seminarians
are expected to be preparing for celibacy from the day they enter
Maynooth
McAleese
says that she does not agree with the Catholic Church's teachings on
homosexuality. Maybe she has come to that point since her own son came out to
her?
I don't agree with the teaching either. That's why I'm outside of the
system.
Maybe she should consider kissing fewer episcopal asses and wining and dining
with them - giving them credibility and respectability?
DIARMUID MARTIN SACKING WHISTLE BLOWER?
Is it true that Diarmuid Martin has sacked a female member at Archbishop's
House for commenting on this Blog?
If it is true it is VERY, VERY BAD.
Anyone got any more information about this?
Meet Fr John Kenny, the highflying West of Ireland priest who enjoys cosying up to beautiful women.
But it’s all in the name of charity. When he’s not rubbing shoulders with celebrities, the self-confessed ‘petrol head’ is hanging out beside his silver Audi with a bunch of Brazilian dancers, or enjoying his favourite pastime – paddleboarding.
But the parish priest from Partry, Co. Mayo, who has been making waves on social media, insists it’s all in the name of charity and helps bring him closer to his parishioners.
His antics have certainly won the hearts of Mass-goers who have praised his alternative approach to pastoral work.
Over the weekend Fr Kenny posted a selfie to his Facebook page of himself and sexy model Emma Quinlan, dressed in a revealing ‘bunny’ outfit, at the Irish Cannonball Run at Mondello Park.
Fr Kenny told the Irish Daily Mail: ‘The profile picture is a selfie with Emma, from a recent charity event.
‘The poor girl was too cold to get out of the car because of what she was wearing. I just jumped in the car beside her and took the selfie for the fun of it while we were waiting around.’
The popular priest has more than 1,800 friends on Facebook.
And photos he’s uploaded in the past include ‘selfies’ with Enda Kenny, former Rose of Tralee Maria Walsh and presenter Christine Bleakley, whom he met last year during a UTV series about the Wild Atlantic Way.
In fact, Fr Kenny bumped Ms Bleakley off his Facebook profile in favour of his picture with sexy model Emma.
And it’s a common occurrence. It appears that as soon as a ‘bigger’ personality is captured in one of his selfies, the previous celeb is swiftly replaced.
Other pictures show the priest surrounded by a host of Brazilian dancers, on motorbikes or enjoying his favourite hobby of being out on the water.
The Emma Quinlan picture certainly got a lot of reaction from friends on Facebook, receiving 322 likes.
One friend quipped: ‘He is obviously cold, with the coat and all that, but she appears to be hot.’ Another Facebook user asked: ‘Are you vying for sainthood? Lord, lead me not into temptation.’
Ms Quinlan left a comment on his Facebook page saying: ‘We look good.’ Fr Kenny responded saying: ‘You’re very kind Emmy but you look TWICE as good. Hope ye are all having a blast. Keep up the good work for charity.’
Fr Kenny has since removed the selfie as his Facebook profile picture in favour of an action shot of him paddleboarding.
Speaking to the Mail, Fr Kenny said it was all for a good cause.
‘We organise a lot of charity events for Barretstown and the Laura Lynn Foundation. It’s a great way to raise awareness and have a little fun along the way,’ he said.
‘Any of these pictures come about because of the charity work I do in the community.’ He said involving himself in such charity events brought him closer to his parishioners.
Fr Kenny admits having an appreciation for nice cars, and recently upgraded from his Audi to another high-powered vehicle.
His cover photo on Facebook shows the Mayo priest surrounded by Brazilian dancers in front of his Audi car.
‘I suppose I’m known as a bit of a “petrol head” and my presence on social media is just a light-hearted side to the work I carry out in my parish,’ the light-hearted priest admitted.
He said the majority of his updates on social media were related to his charity work – and stressed that not all of his work related to the ‘fun’ side we see posted on social media.
Fr Kenny said he was acutely aware of the pressing issues, especially the current migrant crisis.
‘People might see it as trying to be trendy, but it’s about raising awareness and having some light-hearted fun along the way.’
When the Mayo priest is not busy working in the parish or being surrounded by Brazilian dancers, he describes himself as a ‘keen sportsman’.
When it comes to keeping fit, the popular priest is a fan of white water rafting, paddleboarding and rowing. ‘I like to get out in the water in the West and have always had a keen interest in paddleboarding,’ he said.
Fr Kenny is also busy preparing to host a sporting competition, in 2017, that will be aimed ‘at Irish-speaking counties’.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
I was rewatching Wolf Hall on Netflix last night. Thomas Cromwell was asked if he was going to put all the monks and nuns out on the road due to all the scandals he had heard like young novices being visited in their beds by older monks. He said "They claim they are living the vita apostolica but you didnt find the apostles feeling each others b****cks did you."I thought for a minute they were talking about Gaynooth. Seems little has changed since Henry the Eighth was around!
Maybe St Mary Mcilshamrock is right Maynooth is not friendly to ordinary gay and straight folk. It is the weirdos in the twilight zone that are protected. Fr Trendy had some nice pics. PR wasn't that advanced in my day
Someone needs to give Fr Trending a course on how priests should use social media in an appropriate, mature and responsible manner! Such silly silly men!
Fr Trending for the post of Vocations Director in Tuam!! I'm surprised his bishop doesn't send him out to one of the Aran Islands on a lengthy sabbatical. 'In persona Christi', what a f***ing joke!!
Fr Trending has ambitions to become a judge on the panel of the Lovely Girls Competition.
Seriously, do these guys not realise how utterly ridiculous they are?
Psychologists are beginning to study the psychology of the selfie. Traits of narcissism, psychopathy, machiavellianism and self-objectification are being identified.
Narcissism - "Extreme self-centeredness and a grandiose view of oneself. Narcissists have an excessive need to be admired by others and have a sense of entitlement".
Psychopathy - "Impulsivity and lack of empathy".
Machiavellianism - "Manipulative-ness without regard for others’ needs. Those high on this trait tend to have little concern about morals".
Self-objectification - "This is a tendency to view your body as an object based on its sexual worth".
Some of them should undertake research on the clerical selfie phenomenon. All four of the above traits are present in bucket loads in bishops, priests and seminarians. There is scope for a whole series of PhD dissertations.
"People might see it as trying to be trendy, . . ." Do you think so, Father? Wow what insight? And for this gem of self awareness the good people of your diocese paid for your education at an Irish seminary! And you think people might see it as trendy? I think . . . no, I know..that more people than will ever say to your face see it as scandal. It is affront to decency and to the simplicity of life that Christ's ordained ministers are called to live! We Irish Catholics, we faithful remnant, are shocked by the hypocrisy, stupidity, and inanity of what passes for priestly living....However, the Irish Church, despite it's whitewashing of recent history, is no stranger to corruption, scandal and degradation... Eventually, leaders will emerge that, like Moses in the Old Testament, will lead us from this time of abandonment and rootlessness! I only hope I live along enough to be part of the group that they find alive and ready for that journey!
I enjoy your blog Pat but I can't quite see what this Fr Kenny has done to warrant your spotlight.
You must realise that mentioning any priest on your site people automatically assume they are up to something.
Fine if he has done something wrong but is it a crime to be popular and outgoing? I never heard of the guy before and have no connection to him.
I think in your drive to create content for your blog you need to be careful not to abuse your power. Or else you are just as bullying as the church you are criticising.
Your photo of Mary surrounded by an oppressor,a facilitator,an enabler and a performer gave me much cause to ponder and think that the brainwashed Catholic Irish faithful actually held this mob in reverence. F""k !
Pat I note your criticism of President McAleese. I have one reservation however. You seem very upset that she sent a 90th birthday greeting to Cardinal Daly. What do you find wrong with that? I believe they were friends. But even if they were not whats wrong with a greeting on a 90th birthday - a rare enough achievement. I read the other day that Churchill on his 90th was very touched by a greeting from his old adversary DeValera. Whatever our differences surely the odd little personal courtesy does no harm. I think you might agree Pat. Iggy O Donovan
McAleese is a mouthpiece for the ACP - spouting their bull sh*t. She has a compulsive addiction to the loud sound of her own voice. A great big honking mother goose.
Her intervention on the Maynooth Scandal only demonstrates further that she is not really as bright as she lets on.
Thanks for the rundown of Fr. Kenny's activities Pat. It is about time that somebody shone a spotlight on the Tuam diocese. Given Kenny's endless courting of publicity he can hardly complain when he gets it. He is meant to be a representative of Christ. The question is what message does his activities send out to his flock? Do you think a returned Christ would be carousing with z-list celebs and doing the Cannonball Run as a self-described "petrol head". I have attended some of his masses and I can only describe them as soulless and perfunctory. Perhaps the constant effort to "raise awareness" is too draining to allow real spiritual engagement in a local "Community of Faith". Kenny proves that we really are in an era of Bread and Circus -- the deluded parishioners give him the Bread and he joins the Circuses. People usually get what they deserve so perhaps the people of Partry are content to settle for this.
Take the second 'r' out of Partry and there you have it, have driven through the place a few times, tidy place with a lot of flowers on the way from Galway to Westport.
In July 2013, Pope Francis said it pained him to see Priests driving flashy cars, and told them to pick something more "humble". "It hurts me when I see a priest or a nun with the latest model car, you can't do this," he said.
"A car is necessary to do a lot of work, but please, choose a more humble one. If you like the fancy one, just think about how many children are dying of hunger in the world," he said.
I heard recently that Archbishop Neary allegedly instructed the humble Kenny to sell his brand new white coupe Mercedes with blackout windows, as it was not in keeping with Christ's image. He's been driving brand new Mercedes for years at the amazement, disappointment, bewilderment of local parishioners suffering in recessional times.
Fr Kenny obediently complied, thank God, and replaced the new Merc with a brand new high powered Audi. I think it is a 200 Donkey-powered engine as opposed to Jesus' one Donkey-powered means of transport? Fr Kenny can be found, in the guise of a latino Tango dance instructor, very Tuesday night, upstairs in 'Blousers' pub, in Westport, adores his selfies with either beautiful or important people! Sometimes he will take selfies at the end of his Mass with his congregation on Sundays. Charity is keeping him digitally busy, fit and fashionable. The Book of Ecclesiastes teach us that, vanity is a grievous evil!
Rasputin. I find some of your comments funny, witty and insightful. But is there any need to all the expletives ? It doesn't really enhance your otherwise welcome contributions. Dalriada Dick
I have decided to go to mass this weekend to hear the homily because its free (unlike the comedy club and twice as funny!)... I hope Amy is on stage (but we miss Rory his warm up act:-)
Dick 17:40 I work on a construction site with ordinary and real men. Expletives are the lingua franca. We tell it like it is. I have sat in too many meetings with bitches in dog collars and pointy hats. Believe me my language is measured.
My budgies go silent and my dog, Chip, whines and cringes when he encounters 'expletives' on the Lord Buckley's site. If this is the Lingua Franca of your company it is surely way past time that you made some effort to improve. Pip Do your companions - or you - use this kind of language in front of your children - if you have children? You might well be like the Pharisees - making them twice as fit for hell - as I hope you are not! I was told as a child that the "F" word was imported into Ireland by soldiers retuning from the First World War! Give Chip and my budgies a little break!!!
The earlier comment about Kenny's career as a Tango instructor puts me in mind of Rudolph Valentino's famous tango in a silent movie in the 1920s that made him into a global star. Perhaps, a similar Tango episode will achieve the same for him in the 2020s. Valentino's film was called "the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse" and his character got killed in the end so perhaps he should heed both the spiritual and temporal themes of this great epic.

Ex pat official blog silent movie reviewer - time for a clergy competition in comedy double acts.....Dirmaid seys to gorgeous....this is another fine mess you have gotten me in to! - HA HA Rasputin

The announcement tonight by the Rt.Rev Nicholas Chamberlain, the C of E bishop of Grantham, that he is gay and in a relationship, hopefully may provide the impetus to some of his episcopal cousins in the Irish Conference to do likewise. So, come on you Most Rev chaps and get OUT there.
Props for highlighting the hypocrisy of Fr.trendy. He reminds me of the Cuban priest in one of the first episodes of Fr.Ted; sunglasses, the latest technology and a flashy car to boot. Granted it's a struggle to practice what you preach but never have I seen anyone so far from trying or appearing to try. However, he seems to have won the hearts of his parishioners from reading the piece you've written. "And sure why wouldn't he! sure isn't he entitled to have a life aswell..!!??" is the phrase I'm sure people keep repeating to justify his "trendy" behaviour. As for me, im afraid it leaves a sour taste in my mouth and is just another symbol of the churches wealth and power. I'm not a religious person but as a spiritual person I feel obliged to comment on his blatant hypocrisy and can't help but weep for what he is representing. As a woman, whatever advancements we as a country have made in terms of becoming "a modern Ireland" appear as only token jestures. For me what he is representing is an Ireland that remains rooted in old traditionalist values; Patriarchy and power.

I'm think we can safely say that Mother Goose Mary Mackers is definitely NOT into Opus Dei.
