BISHOPS PULLING

BISHOP PULLING FACES, MEN AND WOMEN

THE ABOVE PICTURE is a picture of Donal McKeown - the Roman Catholic Bishop of Derry trying to be "one of the lads" on a pre Christmas to St Mary's College in Derry.

As he posed for the pic someone asked him to pull a face.

He did.

But he did not realise it would appear on FACEBOOK and this Blog.

Donal likes to think that he is "kool".

But I think the picture makes him look ridiculous and totally lacking in gravitas.

Of course we want our priests and bishops to be down to earth, good mixers and have the smell of the sheep about them.

But we also expect them to have a bit of gravitas about them - theological gravitas, social gravitas etc.

And don't forget this was the bishop who agreed to the expulsion of Derry Conan who was the Maynooth seminarian who found two other seminarians in bed together in Maynooth.

At the time Maynooth tried to make little of it by saying it was a "misunderstanding".

What rational explanation is there for two seminarians being in bed together - apart from the one - especially in a seminary dogged by GRINDR and rumours of seminarians having gay sex with each other and lay students.

And if it was a "MISUNDERSTANDING" - why expel Conan for his "misunderstanding"?

Why not just explain to him that they boys were cold and were just keeping each other warm, or that they were experimenting with new flananette sheets on behalf of the Maynooth Bursar - or that they had taken a nap and one by accident had sleep walked into the other's room and bed.

Donal can pull all the faces he likes.

Some giggling girls in Derry may think he is "kool" for doing so.

I just think that he is a light weight, superficial and as much a cover up man as the rest of them.

AN ENGLISH BISHOP AND A CHOIR BOY:

An English priest sent this email to me the other day and asked me not to publish his name for fear of reprisals.

"Bishop Xxxxxxxxx is compromised, he took a senior server from a Cathedral to Dinner in a posh restaurant. The senior Server called Paul who was in his late teens complained to a Priest  diocese that Xxxxxxxx's  advance was Inappropriate. The priest who I know confronted Xxxxxxxxx about this advance, Xxxxxxxxx protested his innocence but why take a young good looking server to dinner as a Bishop?  Totally inappropriate. There were many other servers.

The Priest who confronted Xxxxxxxxx was totally blanked by Xxxxxxxxx after their meeting and basically ignored.  Another twist is that a Xxxxxxxxx Priest who is now a Chaplain to Xxxxxxxxx University also came on to Paul the Server in a sexual manner because of alcohol intake at a Clergy House. This Priest was The Administrator of Xxxxxxxxx Cathedral at the time but quickly moved to Xxxxxxxxx in the Diocese of Xxxxxxxxx where he still resides".

Can we believe this story?

Well - Did Bishop Roddy Wright of Scotland have affairs with two women? Yes he did.

Did Bishop Kieran Conry of Arundell and Brighton have an affair with a married woman that caused him to resign?

Yes he did.

Did Cardinal Keith O'Brien of Scotland spend decades trying to seduce young seminarians and
priests - a fact that caused his resignation?

Yes he did.

Did Bishop Eamon Casey seduce Annie Murphy and father a son?

Yes he did.

Were there rumours about all these men before they were caught out?

Yes there were.

Do I believe the priest's claims.

Yes I do.

Did he give me the bishop's name?

Yes he did.

Will I publish it?

Not now - but eventually.

I was never propositioned as a young priest by a bishop.

But I was propositioned by TWO CANONS and an ABBOT.

The abbot told me that he had had 18 sexual partners during his life in the monastery - both men and women.

You see my friends - TRUTH is stranger and sometimes more interesting than FICTION.

You can be quite sure that Irish Bishops are compromised with women and some with men.

We will learn a lot more about these "holy men" and their machinations in 2017.

    2. Who is he then anon 09:43?

I bet you are just another vicious lying, dissimulating little queen prancing around Maynooth or some unlucky Irish parish with a black shirt, collar and cuff-links.

The more I read some of these comments Pat posted by most probably seminarians and priests, the more am I turned away from ever darkening the door of a Catholic church again.

They make me sick - the lying evil tongued hypocrites.

Far too much of it about.
It is way past lightening up time,
Too many sour faces about - nice of the bishop to act in this way - has a sense of humour and enjoys a little bit of harmless, innocent fun.

    6. Yes indeed. It would have been the use of the film about Hitler that is the problem. That particular scene has been dubbed over numerous times with various scenarios in mind. Indeed, the Hitler character has given voice to Brian Cowan and Enda Kenny among many others.

  8. The only way to clean up the majority of problems in the Church at the moment is to stop gays entering the seminary and depose the gays currently in control of seminaries. They think that everyone is a "repressed homosexual" and cannot but see the world except through their own particular sullied prism.

Pope Francis has re-affirmed the Church's wise constant teaching on this matter. The below commentary with excerpts from the recent Vatican document on the formation of clergy couldn't be clearer:

The document says when it comes to gay men who want to enter the seminary, or discover they have “homosexual tendencies” during the formation years, the Church, “while profoundly respecting the persons in question, cannot admit to the seminary or to holy orders those who practice homosexuality, present deep-seated homosexual tendencies or support the so-called ‘gay culture.’”

It also says that the Church can’t overlook the “negative consequences that can derive from the ordination of persons with deep-seated homosexual tendencies.”

The document, again, taking much of its content from the one issued in 2005, makes an exception for the cases in which the “homosexual tendencies” are only “the expression of a transitory problem - for example, that of an adolescence not yet superseded.”

    1. Do you not think that medics, scientists, biologists and psychologists are in a much better situation than untrained church men to hold forth on why people might be homosexual?

Many people have known or sense that they were homosexual long before adolescence set in.

Your comment does not appear to me to be founded on knowledge and rationality but on some ancient or medieval understanding of humanity?

      Delete
    2. I'm sure I read or saw on TV that homosexuality exists in the animal kingdom. Animals do not choose their sexuality. Point being people are what they are. Root causes run deep.

    3. Cannibalism exists in the animal kingdom! Animals do not choose to be cannibals.

    4. 13:25, you're as intellectually myopic and emotionally mature as dear old Pope Francis. Bless 'im.

The problem isn't sexual orientation, but unchastity. Look at Ciaran Dallat: a regular Lothario by all accounts. And he isn't the only such priest. Shouldn't these men, too, have been barred from seminary?

Regardless of sexual orientation, if a candidate for priesthood is prepared to try to be chaste (and keep trying) he should be admitted to seminary.

Both Francis and his immediate predecessor, Benedict, showed themselves homophobic and unjust by singling out gay men for discrimination. This isn't the work of the Holy Spirit.

Both you, and these popes, should be ashamed of yourselves.

    5. I have not mentioned judgement and choice in my post at 14.27 The point is people are what they are and choice with accountability makes us human. I hope this clarifies. Also might I point out that judgement on what a person says on here is not necessarily a judgement on the person who posts it.

    6. Anon 16:34 - I am in no way ashamed of myself.

I believe the Spirit of God speaks through the ancient consistent teaching of the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. I don't believe in myself or my own opinions but in God's infallible word of Truth.

I repeat - unless the Church halts all these gays, who innately can never be other Christs, pronto from into seminaries and also takes immediate action regarding gays in formation and teaching roles in seminaries, the clerical body will be decimated with scandal after scandal.

Whether you like it or not God has willed discrimination and distinction in His creation. Gay men like women cannot be true priests.

Do you think that the Holy Spirit is currently at work in Maynooth? It is a spirit alright, but not the Holy Spirit.

      Delete
    7. @18:14, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, would you do some research into how that dicastery instruction is actually interpreted by people who know how to interpret it and by the people who actually interpret it? It is almost NEVER, let me repeat that, almost NEVER interpreted in the manner in which you interpret it. Furthermore, the standard term is homosexual orientation. Ask yourself why that is not used. Pat, while open debate is to be encouraged, it really is dull to have these knuckle-draggers repeating nonsense so often. There's only so many posts by people who do not know the difference between the Magisterium and a dicastery instruction that I can suffer!

      Delete
    8. Whoa 18:46! Stop whinging and stomping like a little baby.

The text is as it is. Pope Benedict and Pope Francis understand far more about hermeneutics and semantics than you. And I won't be beaten into silence either by a screeching drama queen.

The discussed text is a simple one that is meant to convey a simple meaning, i.e. - homosexuals or gays or gay orientated men or whatever you want to call them are not suited to the priesthood. END OF STORY!

Just look at what's going on in Maynooth to see why!

Yeah, and of course a heterosexual man who can't control himself is not suited to priesthood either.

      Delete
    9. So, 18:14, you are not ashamed of yourself. No surprise here, then...cos you are, as I said,'intellectually myopic'. Shame requires self-realisation, and this requires at least a modicum of intelligence, which you simply don't have.

You are also poorly informed about the nature of priesthood: there are MANY gay priests. If you've been following this blog, you will know that at least 50% of priests are gay. So your claim, that gay men cannot be 'true priests', is simply preposterous.

You believe that the Holy Spirit 'speaks through the ancient consistent teaching of the Magisterium of the Catholic Church'? You might as well believe that the moon is made of green cheese. Jesus taught unqualified love of enemy, but the consistent teaching of successive magisteria is that it's morally okay on occasion to kill enemies. This is not the Holy Spirit speaking, but the spirit of this world. You are worshipping the golden calf of institutional Church.

      Delete
    10. Sorry 20:19, you have simply zero understanding of hermaneutics. If you did you would understand how that dicastery instruction is interpreted in Rome and the vast majority of the world's dioceses, liberal and conservative. This is why the bible was kept in Latin for centuries, to prevent the ignorant jumping to conclusions. And yes, indeed, Pope Benedict does know more than me, though I doubt Francis does. Perhaps you are one of those who think it is abundantly clear that Pope Francis intended Amoris Laetitia to prohibit the divorced and 'remarried' to receive the Eucharist in all circumstances? And that he did not introduce any deliberate element of ambiguity into that text? The allegedly plain text of the 2005 document is nothing of the sort for anyone whose knowledge of these matters extends beyond reading the internet.

Go off, do some research, and come back and tell us why conservative archbishops such as Cardinal Dolan do NOT interpret the documents as a No Gays policy (maybe they are all heretics?). Then when you have done that, read up on the difference between the magisterium and an administrative document. I imagine it is a stretch too far to imagine that you could get to grips with science.

    2. There may not be any "simple evidence" (yet), but given Maynooth's history of cover-up and denial of any problems, it is not surprising that people might be led to that conclusion. Not to mention Fanny Mullaney's pathetic threat in the rector's talk to take action against anyone who brings the college into disrepute and his remarks about seminarians contacting certain blogs!!

By the way, I thought the video was class! Not at all silly, in fact - it was wonderfully close to the mark.

    6. Looks as if Solomon has surpassed himself on this occasion. The man in question is a good man, if a bit naive and occasionally behaves as if he lives on another planet. I know for a fact that he has had frequent mental health issues and is a fragile creature. He will never wear a mitre, and to be fair that would be the last thing he would seek or expect. His attitude to beautiful young men would be one like Lawrence of Arabia's, with actually buggering them. Westminster Priest ITK.

    8. If I read the clues correctly about the location, one of his colleagues, also in the parish made a very unsubtle pass to me one night. I was in my 20s, niave and receiving counselling from this assitant priest. I used to go to his study for the counselling. One evening I had been at a dinner in which he was also present and both of us had been drinking. He invited me back to the house. I had been there many times so thought nothing off it. I hadn't realised that there was a pull down bed in the study, which doubled as a bedroom. Without warning he pulled the bed down, putting trainers under the bed legs . "This will stop the sounds being heard" he explained. He started to get undressed, I said "no way" and ran out the front door and for about a mile up the street. That was the end of the counselling. That priest is now dead.
