DEACON BYRNE / ROME / MAYNOOTH

THE IRISH COLLEGE

There are reports coming in that Michael Byrne has not been seen in The Irish College in Rome since early yesterday afternoon?

Archbishop Diarmuid Martin flies out to Rome today for the beginning of the Irish Bishop's Ad Limina visit which begins on Sunday.

I imagine that Diarmuid will want to meet Michael as soon as he arrives in Rome.

I think that the rector of the Irish College has arranged discreet accommodation for Michael in Rome and that he and Diarmuid Martin will have a meeting at that or another discreet venue.

This will be a difficult meeting for both men.

Michael will face the challenge of telling Diarmuid the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Diarmuid will face the challenge of getting the truth and then face the challenge of a painful decision.

We HOPE that TRUTH will prevail and that Diarmuid and Michael will face up to the inevitable truth that Michael is not suitable for ordination.

If this painful decision is not made TODAY the matter will only be postponed and there will be more crises, more scandal, more human suffering.

I hope that BOTH MEN - especially Diarmuid - will do the RIGHT THING.

This is painful all around.

But pain - properly handled - often leads to new beginning, growth and integrity.

Of course the whole thing will be handled with CHURCH SECRECY.

That is not good. Diarmuid needs to make a brief statement after the meeting.

But will he?

Doubtful?

DEACON BYRNE AND MAYNOOTH

DEACON MICHAEL BYRNE IS MANY THINGS.

BUT ONE THING THAT HE DEFINITELY IS - IS A PRODUCT OF 5 YEARS OF PRIESTLY FORMATION AT DISGRACED MAYNOOTH SEMINARY !

Did MAYNOOTH help make Michael Byrne what he is - or did Michael Byrne help make Maynooth what it is?

From what I know Michael Byrne is a product of a Dublin working class community - a community like all communities that consist of the good, the bad and the ugly.

What is it in his psychology, background, genes, upbringing etc that makes him sexually attracted to men between the ages of 50 and 90 ?

Is he looking a "Daddy" figure? A Daddy who on the one hand disciplines him and on the other hand loves and spoils him?

On of the benefits of "loving" older men is that they will have their way in life and are more likely to be able to spoil their "son" with designer clothes, 5 star meals, cars and luxurious trips abroad.

In return the Daddy gets a good looking younger man to kiss and cuddle, have sex with and be good company.

But Michael Byrne entered Maynooth at the age of 19 or 20.

It was Maynooth's job to help him to grow spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, pastorally etc.

But now in hid mid 20's - after 5 / 6 years of Maynooth formation - Michael is still very immature, superficial, vain and a bit of a train wreck really.

Why did the MAYNOOTH FORMATION not work or help him?

Is is because he cannot be helped?

Or is it because Maynooth and its people and systems have failed to FORM him in any meaningful way at all?

He stands for chastity and celibacy but is having the sex life of a country park rabbit.

He stands for humility but is never aware from the mirror and helpless publishes lusty selfies.

He stands for simplicity but chases designer clothing, gourmet meals, 5 star holidays and a myriad of fragrances.

He stands for loving continence but is on every sex dating site going.

He stands for love but uses his youth to charm the money out of elder's wallets.

He stands for the Here After but lives like there is no tomorrow.

Who have his formators being:

The Right Reverend Monsignor Hugh Connolly.

The Reverend Father Fanny Mullaney.

The Reverend Father Paul Prior.

The Reverend Father Michael Collins.

HUGH, FANNY, PAUL, MICHAEL - WHAT HAVE YOU CREATED ?

Our Blessed Lord said:

"ITS BY THEIR FRUITS THAT SHE SHALL KNOW THEM".

Deacon Byrne is one of your fruits.

What kind of fruits are you producing, boys?

  1. Deacon Byrne at present still remains in the Irish College.

Whoever told you that he has vanished is trying to discredit you.

  3. If I was MB I would be embarrassed to appear in The Irish College dining room.

But as a prirst friend of mine in Rome says: "Michael Byrne will brazen it out to the end and not tell Diarmuid anything".

All we can do is hope that Diarmuid will see through any untruth.

  4. Pat, I think given the past couple of posts the comment at http://wisecatholic.blogspot.co.uk/2016/09/maynooth-other-seminaries.html on 9.9.16 at 21.25 gains a new significance. It is a wonderful romance about a poor suffering young deacon, worthy of a blog post in itself.
It could be coincidence, but it ends with the deacon saying to the priest, 'Pass the sugar daddy'.
    Not 'Pass the sugar, daddy'!

Maybe someone has rented him an apartment in Rome.

  6. The Deacon is potentially serving a useful function as the tip of a very large and unholy 'iceberg' and thus drawing attention to the whole. Wide knowledge of his squalid activities and proclivities may, perversely (no pun), also ultimately serve to rid us of so many of his ilk as well as those responsible for permitting and facilitating his ordination to the diaconate. And 'good riddance' to the lot of them. Start writing out your banners folks.

  7. Discreet accommodation my a*rse. There are plenty of private interview spaces in the Irish college. M B needs to be dealt with in context not in a glasshouse. As to why are people allegedly like he, I can only guess. Partly personal profile, partly the system. Does the church attract a particular profile? I suppose it does and a particular sample are worryingly coming to the top. I recently experienced how C O E screens for Ordained Ministry. Is their system better than R C? i am in no position to judge. However three criteria come to mind. A vocation must be obedient, realistic and well informed. M B is a symptom of severely imbalanced thinking in church culture and assessment if what is alleged in many blogs on here is the truth, whole truth and nothing but the truth. As a Christian I wish M B well through a painful journey which he must now embark on whichever way the wind blows

  8. Pat, have you not prepared a party at Dublin airport to wave off the Irish Bishop's as they depart for the Eternal City to tell Pope Francis that all is well in Maynooth and it's a big misunderstanding from rigid seminarians

    ReplyDelete

    1. As they entrusted with the care of Gaynooth, does that mean that Hughie Cowboy Connolly and Fanny also go to Rome? Or do they just tell the Bishops how to cover up?

    2. "Misunderstanding" is a popular excuse in Maynooth!

  9. 10 years ago I spoke up about what was happening in Maynooth. People like MB (or at least what MB appears to be) were being pushed forward, rigid seminarians were being pushed out and the balanced lads in the middle were subjected to damaging levels of cynicism - we were assumed to have alternative motives which we were hiding. The idea that we were genuine was unfathomable to the formation staff in Maynooth.

Right before Hugh Connolly left office he apologised to me. He admitted that the formation staff had made a massive mistake in their approach to formation and that they had caused damage. I asked for that apology to be made formal but he refused, saying that the Bishops would never allow such an apology be given.

It does not surprise me that the MB situation has grown so out of hand. My experience of Maynooth was that it was the perfect seedbed for such dysfunctional relationships to occur.

    Points for moving forward:

    1. The size and layout of the seminary campus is conducive to secret meetings to be arranged because the seminarians live in an accommodation block separated from staff. Maynooth as we know it simply needs to be abandoned as a seminary.

    2. The use of a seminary council of 4 people is well out of date and presupposes that having two directors of formation is the correct system. In point of fact many other seminaries allow all clerical staff (an occasionally sisters) to have seminarians as their pupils. This alternative model facilitates a wider range of opinions at seminary council meetings, more balance and is more open to differing opinions. It also reducing the risk of power running to the head of a director of formation.

    3. There needs to be a review of the need for directors of formation to be doing the American course in pseudo-psychology. The longer this has been the training for directors of formation the more dysfunctional Maynooth has become.

    4. MB has now had his adulthood informed by Maynooth. In a sense Maynooth is responsible for how he has been influenced. I have never met him but I hope that the future holds a more positive formative experience than what the past appears to have offered.

    Peace to all.

Sean, I'll remind you that a very heavy dossier on your past contribution to this blog has been compiled. The night before last we finished composing the file that will be sent to the powers that be in your job. We made contact with someone last August who was very concerned at your bullying tactics. A senior care manager has flagged instances of intimidation, bullying and incitement to hatred on your behalf. I can promise you an official complaint is being made.

  10. If those pictures you were sent are genuine, Pat, surely he is packing his bags as we speak? Have you sent them to DM?

I wouldn't DM will meet MB at all. It will be communicated to him by the seminary rector that he is dismissed and to make arrangements to go back to Ireland.

He surely will be dismissed? How could the Church knowingly ordain such a man?

  13. It has been said a 100 times, I know - the "formation" system in Gaynooth is rotten to the core. It is rotten from its very foundations to its top. And the personnel administering it are themselves corrupt and corrupters - through and through. Gaynooth has spawned Byrne, Coyle, Puck and a whole batch of others. Rotten fruit indeed. God help us.

  14. Paul Prior is/was a protoge of Nial Ahern, Middle Dean for ages in Maynooth and lothed by many though he had his favourites, such as PP. I remember Paul as being very bland, did the sem course, never missed morning prayer and thoroughly unremarkable. Cod psychology by unqualified Deans in Maynooth has gone on for decades. Tom Clancy was at it too, but in a less polished form than Nial, who could be personally insulting. And Ledwith's boyfriend, Jaime from Mexico, who suddenly appeared in 2 Divine. In 1985, Frank, the night watchman went inti the room of Fr xxxxxx abd saw him and one of the seminarians in a loving embrace.

    2. PP of Strandtown. Now a canon. Got a PhD when Middle Dean. Obviously he had time on his hands. If he took a dislike to someone he hounded them. He started off as Junior Dean, responsible for 1st & 2nd years. By a quirk of fate he became Middle Dean, responsible for 3rd and 4th years, so some unlucky classes had him for four years. Fr Frank Duhig was Junior Dean in my time. A straightforward, man's man priest who didn't do mind games.

    4. Poor Frank with the afro style hair and the loss of the sense of smell. He seemed only interested in you if you played GAA. If not you were ignored and treated like a Martian from out of space. I did love his deans talks..they were in code so no one ever understood what he was talking about. One older students got into trouble for referring to Frank's claim to call a spade a spade when he said it was more like an agricultural instrument for digging with. He was hounded out...Frank was great friends with Fr Michael Clearly and used to invite him to give talks on celibacy...now that was funny!!

  15. It is simply an inherant system flaw when seminary management think that any kind of psychology is the route to form priests. The the truth is that only holiness can form priests, coupled with good supervision.

Should the bishops think of handing over Maynooth to the Jesuits and leaving them reform what they cannot?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Maynooth seems to attract these devils. Why are they still being ordained? Is there no sense of morality or decency in these bishops brains? Do they not realise that the priest is someone who is an important part of the local commmunity. Please forward these pictures to the Daily Mirror if DM will not take necessary action.

  17. I remember Jaime. Friendly enough chap. I agree about Paul Prior. He must have got a very average leaving cert if he didn't do a BA or BSc. He seemed harmless with his benign smile. Little did we now of his steely confidence and ambition. Just shows it's who you know rather than what you know that counts.

Farcically he decides who should be diocesan priests serving in parishes despite being a curate for two minutes. Have Fanny Mullaney or Paul not nice but dim Prior and Hugh Connolly ever been curates or PPs? It would be like a professor of medicine training doctors who'd never met a patient.

  20. Since DM recently appointed that former Maynooth Seminary Council Stalwart Enda Cunningham as Vocations' Director for the Archdiocese of Dublin, I think all of you who are putting your faith in Dissembling Diarmuid are gonna get 'a quare gunk' if ye are expecting any action that will lead to changes in Maynooth. Gorgeous will actually be scapegoated to cover for and maintain the status quo. He is as much a victim of Maynooth as were all those straight "fundamentalist" victims dumped in the past 10 years, including Dr. Donnelly, with the cold benediction of DM in Dublin who did nada rather than intervene in any of these cases. A mountain of evidence has been buried that DM has known about since his installation in 2004. Get real lads!

    1. There can be no priestly ordination for MB now. He is out. He has to be out on is ear.

Now that he has nothing to lose though - will he "kiss and tell"?

He believed himself to be "untouchable". With incriminating sexually explicit photographs of him, in the possession of Bishop Buckley and others, he hasn't a leg to stand on.

His position is entirely untenable. Someone whom he has hurt, could give those photos to the tabloid press and they will print a pixilated version for the sake of decency, showing his face, to illustrate the story. Or there is nothing to stop them leaving uncensored copies in the pews of the Pro.

The question now - will the "untouchable" "Gorgeous" Micky Jackeen Byrne reveal who was touching whom, what, where, when and how??

I'd say there's a number of clergy and prelates who are not suffering from constipation at present.

  27. The single question the press might ask Archbishop Diarmuid Martin is obviously: Diarmuid, if you had any serious doubts about the formation process in Maynooth during the past decade why did you recently appoint a former Dean of Formation and member of Maynooth Seminary Council as Vocations Director in your Archdiocese? That would seem to have been a vote of absolute confidence in Maynooth as a seminary, would it not?
