DIARMUID - GORGEOUS - PROOF

DIARMUID WANTS MORE "PROOF" ABOUT GORGEOUS.

DIARMUID MARTIN said this week that he wants more "PROOF" before he takes action against DEACON BYRNE.

What is Diarmuid looking for? Is he looking for DNA, pubic hair, saliva, semen, soiled clothing, incriminating bed linen, toe nail clipping, blood, urine, etc etc ?

Is he going to turn a basement in the empty Clonliffe Seminary and set up The Archdiocese of Dublin Forensic Laboratory?

Will he be sending a number of priests and nuns to America to train as forensic scientists?

Or will he just offer the Irish State Pathologist some overtime to do Church work?

This "proof" excuse is a ruse so that Diarmuid will not have to take an action he does not want to take FOR SOME INEXPLICABLE REASON.

MICHAEL BYRNE signed a document when he entered Maynooth saying that he would accept the decision of the seminary council and his bishop to terminate his studies for the priesthood without question if they deemed him unsuitable for ordination.

Diarmuid needs to realise that he is a BISHOP - not a police man, a prosecutor, a forensic scientist or a magistrate.

A bishop is primarily the SPIRITUAL FATHER of his priests and people and responsible for the spiritual welfare of those people.

A big part of that role is judging - to the best of your ability - using knowledge, discernment and insight - whether or not a particular man is fit to shepherd the People of God.

For God sake many have already been dismissed from Maynooth and other seminaries because of well based fears that the person is unsuitable for a whole variety of reasons including immaturity, lack of commonsense, vanity, pride, prayer-less-ness, rigidity, poor judgement, superficiality, academic poverty and a whole host of other reasons.

BUT - Diarmuid wants forensic proof before dealing with Deacon Byrne.

Diarmuid, lets just look at what we know about Deacon Byrne already:

1. You have his Silverdaddies profile where he is looking for sex with men between the ages of 50 and 90.

2. You have an allegation from a man in his 50's stating that he was sexually assaulted in Bray presbytery.

3. You have a photograph from this man in his 50's which he claims was given to him by Byrne showing a scene of anal sex.

4. You have a copy of this man's emails.

5. You have the claim that Byrne was recommended for dismissal by the Maynooth Seminary Council for immaturity - a decision you overturned.

6. You have vain pictures of Deacon Byrne:

    A.    Dressed in casual designer gear and bare feet posing on the inner stairway of your Pro Cathedral presbytery.

    B. You have pictures of Deacon Byrne posing in front or mirrors grooming himself - pictutres he himself posted on social media.

    C. You have a picture of Deacon Byrne dress as a sailor.

7. You have a claim that someone rented an apartment in Dublin for Deacon Byrne this Christmas and a claim that at least one man was invited there for a bit of "How's yer father".

8. You have information about Deacon Byrne's activities in Barcelona.

9. You have information about Deacon Byrne's relationships with senior Dublin priests.

10. You have heard that a senior Dublin priest bought him a car.

11. You know his name was associated with problems in Maynooth last summer.

12. You have claims that he is telling others that he can pull the wool over your eyes.

AND - I'm sure yo KNOW a lot more that the rest of us do not know.

Do you not realise that your indecision and inaction in this matter is being discussed by the WHOLE IRISH POPULATION at this time?

Do you not realise that what you DO ABOUT DEACON BYRNE will be your LEGACY?

When you came to Dublin you had the unenviable task of cleaning up the aftermath of the Dublin Clerical Child Abuse legacy that your predecessor DESMOND CONNELL leaves as his legacy.

Your ISSUE in YOUR TIME is the scandal of PROMISCUOUS GAY SEMINARIANS AND PRIESTS.

What you do about THIS will be your legacy.

They will say: "DIARMUID CLEANED UP THE DUBLIN GAY MESS".

Or they will say: "DIARMUID WAS PART OF THE DUBLIN GAY MESS".

Forget about going around looking for forensics. Be a BISHOP. Be a SPIRITUAL FATHER.

Look to the WELFARE OF THE DUBLIN PEOPLE OF GOD.

Make sure that when you leave in 3 / 4 years time that family will be free of FALSE SHEPHERDS - WOLVES IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING.

Better to have 30 good priests in Dublin that 300 iffy ones.

Diarmuid - the clock is ticking.

Diarmuid - we are all watching.

Diarmuid - do the right thing.

"FOR EVIL TO SUCCEED ALL THAT IS REQUIRED IS THAT GOOD PEOPLE DO NOTHING".

FATHER BENNETH OSUAWAGU:

The Archbishop of Melbourne and his vicar general are looking into concerns raised on the Blog with regard to Father Benneth Osuawagu a former seminarian at Maynooth.

Monsignor Greg Bennet
It is unknown whether or not Maynooth or the diocese of Kildare and Loughlin informed Melbourne of these concerns.

It certainly seem to come as a surprise to Monsignor Bennet.

  1. nothing shocks me anymore. either way Byrne's reputation is in tatters. He's been indirectly named as the accused in the independent, his face is all over Church Militants website, hes been named on twitter and Facebook. How in the name of all that is Holy can he be ordained. Archbishop Martin I'm beginning to think your a few sandwiches short of a picnic.

  2. AB DM is full of shit. Wanting more proof. If he does not sort out this mess when he gets back from Rome, he should be forced to get out. He is just as bad as the other Bishops if he stalls on this. Byrne must be having a great laugh right now. Take your finger out of your ass Diarmuid and sort this out or piss off to Rome for good.

  3. Pat, the story here is a continuation of the past. Remove the problem to another parish, in this case Rome. Why are the auxiliary bishops or the other bishops not making an issue out of this. DM follows the line of Connell, McNamara and Ryan.

  6. Is Diarmuid Martin really going to rub our noses in it by ordaining Deacon Byrne in the Pro Cathedral in Dublin a few months time? Or will he get someone in Rome to ordain him secretly and then impose him on some parish in a non published set of clerical appointments? If he does either of those things I will stop praying for him as my bishop in Mass and will have finally lost all faith in him. I was with a large number of Dublin priests recently and we were talking about the priests of Dublin writing to the Congregation of Bishops in Rome asking for a new archbishop now. Senior Dublin Priest (Not B. Kealy).

  8. In my time in Maynooth, you could have been kicked out for sleeping in too many mornings. Even deacons were not "home and dry" as regards ordination. How things have changed!!!

There is something very seriously amiss here. DM has told you, Pat, that he is "not compromised". He's hardly going to admit to you that he is though - is he?

This incredible situation with MB points to a most grievous scandal at the highest level. Some person(s) very high up is (are) definitely seriously compromised.

The situation you are currently investigating in Armagh also sounds as if it bodes grave scandal for the Church in Ireland.

Very very depressing. Morale of priests who strive to be faithful is very low.

  12. There's no doubt a lot of spin going on in Rome at the moment. Even the Armagh Martin said he was going to highlight all the positives this week in Rome, namely the resilience of priests and the green shoots of revitalisation springing up all over the Irish church. Is the man living in la la land? The only spin is that the church here is spinning out of control. Neither Martin seems to have a grasp of reality.

  14. There is another avenue. DM may not want to be seen to take the blame. What about his current formation team? The man in charge is Fr Hugh Clifford. Have you formally informed him? If he receives the information you have, he will have to act on it. The Irish College in Rome will have to act on it. They will have to exclude him or at least exclude him pending a full and immediate inquiry. They can act independent of the Bishop. Have you formally made a complaint to the Irish College in Rome. You speak a lot about Maynooth, that is in the past, as he is now under the auspices of the Irish College. They would have to suspend him pending an inquiry. Until they are informed they can pretend they don't know.

  15. It seems they will always ignore or try to ride out the storm if people making the allegations are not members of the clergy, in this case a silver daddy, or, for example, a woman seduced by an extremely rare heterosexual priest.

Cardinal O’Brien only resigned because priests accused him of sexual misconduct otherwise he would still be in good standing.

  18. I recently attended a wedding in a chapel, having been badly treated by the Church and the continuous scandals that flow from the RCC, I took part in every part of the Mass, praying everything the laity pray, but when it came to the Eucharistic prayer I stopped when it came to "N. our bishop and Francis our Pope", as far as I can see none of those ordained to such holy offices as the successors of the Apostles and Peter himself should be in the Church of Jesus Christ. These most sacred offices should be filled with true shepherds, like yourself Pat, who genuinely care about their flock, who care about the welfare of their local and universal Church, who will tackle issues hands on with transparency and accountability. They have abused that holy line of Apostlic Succession.People will say, but at least Pope Francis is this that and the other, he is as bad as all the rest, actually take the time to read into his past and its just as bad as the rest, and as Peter himself he is saying one thing and doing the other. The sad reality is that as your post yesterday showed, homosexuals, not including MB and those who are like jack rabbits, are their scape goats with lies of connections with paedophiles. Instead of taking responsibility, they blame the gays, if it rains its our fault, if there is an earthquake its our fault, we in their eyes are the enemies of the most loving and compassionate God. I for one am better off, and happier with an Independent Catholic Church with full apostlic succession and valid sacraments, because until Rome sorts its self out, the true church lays with those with valid apostolic succession outside of the see of Peter.

  19. "In particular the religious orders and these holy devout Christian people disbelieved us and even bullied us more for daring to complain about our abuse and no one would listen." (Margaret McGuckin, campaigner' s reaction to historical abuse findings published today).

What has changed Pat? Nothing. Look at the situation in Dublin and Armagh, they still won't listen or take action against deviant Seminarians and Priests engaged in gay promiscuous sex. Action is needed by both Martin's and it's needed now.

    1. Why are you so intrigued about whether the face was shown in that pic. Very odd and bizzare question. Why would you need to know that and for what purpose? Are you MB or one of his gang.

      Delete
    2. I am not sure if you are stupid or merely have a low IQ? The issue today is that DM wants proof. If there is a photo with the face shown in a sexually compromising position, then the proof clearly exists. If there is no face in the photo, then it is very difficult to establish that the picture is indeed that of MB. Why is that important? Because anyone can use a random picture off the internet to set up a Silver Daddy account - that is not proof. Anyone can set up an email account and send sexually compromising pictures without a face - again, could be anyone. So the issue is this - since Pat has firmly and clearly stated that the sexually compromising picture had a clearly visible face, then the proof is incontrovertible. There is no need for further drama - publish the photo and let the facts speak for themselves. What was it about all of that that you have found difficult to follow?

  22. @Pat Chairman of the college means nothing. In Maynooth some bishops are Trustees of the college and they could never save their seminarians once the college's council deemed them unsuitable. All a Trusetee bishop (or indeed any bishop) could do when the college deemed the seminarian unsuitable would be to move the seminarian to another seminary. If the Irish College receives a formal complaint like the one you allege to have happened by the Silverdaddy they will be left with no alternative but to suspend him pending an inquiry.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Bishops rarely suspend anyone in formation. Fact. It's always the colleges. Let's see if the new regime in the Irish College in Rome is all it's cracked up to be.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Martin of Armagh should get on the first flight back to address the victims of abuse instead of trying to pull the wool over the eyes of the curial bureaucrats in Roma.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Proof, what more proof is needed? The standard in the liturgy of ordination is that the person should be living to a standard above gossip and rumour. This has clearly not been fulfilled in this case – the photos demonstrate this. And even if he has turned a new page and repented, his past is still too recent to demonstrate any longevity in his change of lifestyle. Would anybody be happy with a man so ill-formed helping to form their children in their primary school? (I am not suggesting that he would intentionally abuse children but his influence on their vulnerable, still forming personalities may be just too risky)

Let me talk about proof. One active gay seminarian spread rumours that I was having an affair with a female in theology class. I mistakenly tried to nip it in the bud, approached the director of formation and said that I had not expected to be living in a culture of rumour and gossip and that this person’s destructive actions were not conductive to a spiritual brotherhood within seminary community.

The response was for the director of formation to, one-by-one, call in every member of my class and ask if they had information on the affair I was purported to be having. Now little rumours became massive rumours, fuelled by no less than the director of formation. He afterwards told me that the good news was that there was no hard evidence to prove I was having an affair.

I told the bishop that the conduct in there was disgraceful. The response was that “Maynooth are experts in formation”.

    Points to note:
    1. It transpired the Director of Formation gave another seminarian in my class the perfect cover story. He was in point of fact having an affair with the same girl in question. He is now a priest and he loved to court media attention and publicity.
    2. The Director of Formation also had an affair with a woman.
    3. Bishops are asses. When one finally stood up to Maynooth DM clearly backed the wrong horse – and any moron could see he was choosing a nag when he backed him.
    4. Celibacy is not for everybody and clearly not for clerics.

  26. Not going to happen, they're afraid if they started such a process there is no telling who would come out of the woodwork or where it would end. They would lose control of the process, the people in charge are second or third rate time servers, I have seen many a fine priest destroyed by them, and many a fine priest continually passed over for promotion for no good reason. Thirty five years ago there was a gay cabal in the catholic church, the only difference between then and now is that they are in the majority now. I don't they have damaged the irish church in the way that hypocrites like Eamonn Casey and Michael Clery did, or the deviant scum that abused little children and their equally culpable masters who chose to protect them. Suffer little children to come unto me.

  27. Pat Forward your 'dossier' to Fr Hugh Clifford, so it's on the record that they were informed

    ReplyDelete
  28. Pat,
Firstly, if ever there was a "good day for bad news" then this is it. There may have been the possibility that the shameful actions of catholic religious orders in the abuse of innocent, vulnerable children, so visibly exposed by Hart today, may be overshadowed by events in Washington.
However, if the bishops think this will save their blushes they can forget it.
The truth is out. The actions have been exposed. Next must come the outing of those, both dead and alive, who covered up, denied and failed these children.
Secondly, congratulations to Margaret McGuckin and her associates for their persistent and continuous efforts to have these terrible events exposed for all to see and despite the taunts of tunnel vision Catholics who believe that the church and its pastors can do no wrong they can be comforted by the fact they have been wholly vindicated.
Theres lots more still to come out about Rubane in Co Down. So if your a good investigative journalist reading this then start asking questions.
My late mother used to say that the Sisters of Charity showed no mercy and the Sisters of Mercy showed little charity. What she said about the Poor Sisters of Nazareth is unrepeatable !
So folks, sexual abuse, the facilitating of visiting clergy to sexually abuse, the beatings, the degradation of innocent and vulnerable children, who in their lonlieness had nobody to turn to or when they did they were abused more or shunned, the cover up by senior clergy, all now in the public domain.
How very Christian, how very Catholic. Enough said!
    Will anyone defend?

  33. Okay, if DM wants proof then I suggest the most cast iron proof would be the 50 year old man going to the police and making an official complaint about the sexual assault by Byrne in Bray presbytery. The police will have to investigate it, and if there is a shred of veracity to it, Byrne will be questioned, and the matter will become public and actionable. DM will have at the very least to delay Byrne's ordination, and suspend him until the matter is clarified. If there is substance to this allegation, then Byrne will be prosecuted, and he could find himself in jail rather than prostrating himself before the altar at ordination.

Pat, I think you need to have a conversation with the 50 year old. It will be very hard for him to make such an allegation, but surely his identity could be protected by the police and courts ? Just like a woman who is raped, at least over here in the English system ?

Never mind about pictures that can be doctored, or rumour. The 50 years old's factual truth will stop Byrne in his tracks. If Byrne has committed sexual assault or rape, he must answer for it.

In any event the college asked you to leave and your bishop got you somewhere else. I think Waterford or Wexford to finish your studies. So it is the college that counts, not the bishop. Ther have been many errant priests in dioceses who have been found out and their bishops send them off for a while and then bring them back and the men keep their heads down. There are very few who survive in a seminary once found out with evidence to back up the allegation. They're usually out on their ears and their bishop puts them in another college. Would the silverdaddy give permission for that to be forwarded to The Irish College and ask the Rector there or the Formation director to comment on it? Or whatever cardinal is over the formation of clergy (if its a section within the Curia) to comment on it. Perhaps it can be done via a Canon law way. That is, bypass Martin.

    1. The Curia is made up of other Amys and Dermos.

There are only TWO things that hurt them:

      1. Publicly expose them.

      2. Take their money off them.

    2. I would reverse 2 and 1 for greater effect

  39. Pat, I would be interested to hear about the experience of lay workers or lay associates who work for religious, priests and nuns. I worked for a religious order 8 years ago and my confidence is still shattered by the emotional and psychological abuse that I was subjected to. they offered me counselling with an elderly nun who was clearly on their side. I have heard many harrowing experiences of how these holy men treat lay people. I now feel sick when I hear the word catholic. I commend you for what you do.

    2. When I was a young adult I worked as a porter in a hospice run by the sisters of charity. I was terrorised by one of the nuns. A right vicious person. If it was now I'd call the police.

All these people are as big a problem in Ireland as drugs, drug dealers and gangs.

In fact I would prefer to have to deal with a DRUG BARON than a Catholic bishop.

    2. The nuncio is perhaps more corrupt than the rest. I've written to him almost 50 times since he came into office regarding Maynooth. No response. He's just a prick

  45. Eh what about parishoners in Bray. Surely someone has the balls to go to the priest there and ask what happened or what are they doing about it? Parishioners pay for priests to live there in the luxury they've become accustomed to.

  48. Pat you underestimate parishioners. Lets face it in this day and age, anybody who goes to mass actually has an interest or would take an interest if they knew. I suspect church going parishioners in Bray would be up in arms. Look at the effect the Maynooth story had on people. Liberal and street wise people were aghast.

  50. "MANY OF THE INCIDENTS OF SEXUAL ABUSE WERE KNOWN ABOUT BY CLERGY WHO DID NOTHING TO STOP THEM"
    HART H.A.Inqy. Jan 2017

Well ladies and gentlemen, there we have it. If ever proof was needed that the whole clique of priesthood dysfunctions then it's here now in black and white. Not only were priests sexually and physically abusing children in homes but other priests stayed silent.
    Why?
    Fear!
Fear of breaking rank, fear of being ostracised for exposing the church to ridicule. Fear of being sent to some back of beyond parish and held in communicado by other members of the clergy club. Fear of the belt of the crozier because their whistle blowing would tarnish the "good name" of the institution -justifiably!
What sort of profession is that to belong to?
According to Sir Anthony It was better that lonely and fearful children were molested, raped and buggered by priests and others and a blind eye turned by some colleagues than to speak up in support of defenceless children.
As you quoted earlier in your piece Pat, "Evil thrives when good men say nothing"
And now the bird has come home to roost. The failure of former bishops and clergy ( some still around) who were all aware of the goings on down the years but did NOTHING to stop the vile, perverted and disgusting practices has now been made manifestly public.
The children who were supposed to be cared for in these homes were viewed as defects, second rate human beings. They were stripped of dignity and made to feel unworthy. They were isolated and degraded.
On the other hand those who championed their just and honourable cause were ridiculed by the " bishops' men and women" clerical and lay.
Today they can hold their heads up. They have triumphed.
The truth will out. It has come out. The biblical quote has come to pass " The day shall come when the mighty shall be humbled and the humble and lowly shall be exalted"
This evenings mealy mouthed apology by the current leader of this island's increasingly hapless ecclesiastical crew was proof positive of that.

I hope DD that you're so enraged as to have stirred from that big chair, (with Black Bush in hand) and it's well that you should be.
That religious based totalitarian perspective of single minded religious "believers", explains much of the warped and inhuman behaviour towards vulnerable and dependent young people who should have been protected and nurtured.
