ATHEIST v CATHOLIC?

bishopbuckley1@outlook.com
Pontiff says some Catholics should say 'my life is not Christian, I don't pay my employees proper salaries, I exploit people, I do dirty business, I launder money, [I lead] a double life'

Since his election in 2013, the pope has often told Catholics to practice what their religion preaches EPA
Pope Francis has said it is better to be an atheist than one of "many" Catholics he said lead a hypocritical double life.

Delivering another criticism of some members of his own Church, the pontiff said: It is a scandal to say one thing and do another. That is a double life.
"There are those who say 'I am very Catholic, I always go to Mass, I belong to this and that association'," the head of the 1.2 billion-member Roman Catholic Church said, according to a Vatican Radio transcript. I don't pay my employees proper salaries, I exploit people, I do dirty business, I launder money, I lead a double life'."
"There are many Catholics who are like this and they cause scandal," he said. "How many times have we all heard people say 'if that person is a Catholic, it is better to be an atheist'."
Since his election in 2013, the pope has often told Catholics, both priests and lay people, to practice what their religion preaches.
In his often impromptu sermons, he has condemned sexual abuse of children by priests as being tantamount to a "Satanic Mass", said Catholics in the mafia excommunicate themselves, and told his own cardinals to not act as if they were "princes".

Less than two months after his election, he said Christians should see atheists as good people if they do good.

PAT SAYS:

In stating the above Pope Francis is hitting the nail on the head.

Being a CHRISTIAN is a very different thing than being a ROMAN CATHOLIC.

Jesus said: "IT IS BY THEIR FRUITS THAT YE SHALL KNOW THEM".

Is covering up for abusing bishops, priests and religious a Christian thing to do?

Is the wheeling and dealing of the Vatican Bank a Christian thing to do?

Is the toleration of the promiscuous gay seminarians of Maynooth a Christian thing to do?

Is ordaining Grindr deacons who will continue on as before a Christian thing to do?

Is making men who do not believe or pray into bishops a Christian thing to do?

Is backing the clergy and Hierarchy no matter what a Christian thing to do?

Pope Francis is right. A good atheist is a million times better than being a bad or a hypocritical Catholic.

WHO IS THIS MAN IN THE PICTURE ???

Who is this man in the picture at Cardinal Connell's funeral yesterday? He is wearing an alb but no stole?

  2. They don't want to hear it Pat. That's why they have such a visceral contempt for you. You speak the unpalatable and uncomfortable truth. You disturb them. You're a scapegoat, a lightning rod for all their own negative projections. If you're all bad, then surely they're not so bad.

  3. Roman Catholic Atheist Christian are all labels. Thing is Francis is responsible for the conduct of his "officers" If the Pope is "infallible" why cant he identify and weed out all the bullshit that seems to be going on in the R C Church throughout the world including ireland

    1. How can Francis watch 5,000+ bishops and 400,000+ priests?

    2. Sounds impossible but that's the challenge. The truth needs to get through the minders

  4. What would Francis say to you Pat? That'd be interesting, he's quite harsh on clerics...

    1. I believe that Francis and I could have a good and absolutely honest conversation.

I would tell him the whole truth and ask him many questions.

Unlike many clerics I would not lie to him about ANYTHING.

    2. I could be wrong but the guy in the picture looks like Conor Gannon clerical student for Dublin?

    3. You mean the gay in the picture looks like Conor Gannon. Well it's not him, he is currently studying in Rome................................

    4. And how would you know about Conor? And how would you know that he is currently studying in Rome? I have reason to believe that you are a seminarian or a former seminarian because you use the phrase 'clerical student' and not many lay people say 'clerical student'. Furthermore, how do you know he is a Dublin Seminarian? I wonder.

  6. Heard on news that Desmond's nearest relative was his sisterinlaw
Did he have no nieces or nephews!
Many adults serve mass theses days
Many parents would not allow their kids near an altar, especially inDublin.

  7. Pat,
I'm sure Pope Francis will be happy to get your Imprimatur!
    LOL

  8. They have adult altar servers in the Pro-cathedral, so that guy is probably a server.

  10. The guy in the picture is not a server, he is the private lay secretary to Archbishop Martin of Dublin. He is openly gay an ex Seminarian of Maynooth............ I've never heard in all my years of ministry a private secretary of a Bishop wearing an alb for any occasion.

RTÉ coverage of Connell's funeral yesterday showed the Wounded Healer Brady standing next to the Nuncio. As for Eamon Martin, I never seen such an anxious, tense and uncomfortable face in a long time.

    2. its definetly not Meerick. Joe wouldnt be standing behind a coffin, he'd want a more prominent position so he could be seen. Some day he'll knock Diarmuid out of the way

    3. So it's not him because he's standing behind a coffin, do you realise the logic in what your saying? Please be a bit more convincing in your information for it to be believed.

  12. Pat you didn't tell us at what stage phonsie shouted at you
Was it just when you went up for communion ?
If it was then you do know that we know that you especially targeted him
    But fair play to you

    1. He shouted at me when I went up to Communion.

I did not target or provoke.

I simply behaved as I always have done - go up for Communion at Communion time.

    2. Yes Pat, but you are excommunicated, and phonsierecognisedyou....heshouldhave passed you by, put up his hand gently and then u wd have had to move onto another lay minister, one who had no idea who you are.
I was at family funeral some years ago
All the Protestant Friends and relatives went forward for holy communion
They weren't told anything about blessings beforehand.

  13. Lay Cleric whats the difference alb or no alb. All people are required to be sexually appropriate. Pat I see your point in some respect The Pope must find it difficult to know what is going on everywhere. Thing is people rant and rave on here from time to time and nothing ever seems to happen. sometimes I wonder whats the point if there is a point. Its not totally about how the clergy club operate but the quality of shepherding and support the faithful are entitled to. The shepherds seem to have lost the plot and the sheep being sheep appear to be wandering aimlessly.Where are the true Prophets of our time...

  14. Can someone clear up this mystery? Is the guy in the picture Joseph Merrick or Conor Gannon ? If it is Gannon it would be interesting that he is in Dublin for the funeral and Gorgeous was left in Rome?

  20. Let's face it, the Irish Hierarchy couldn't give a tinkers curse about what people think. They still feel they can take the moral high ground and be arrogant with it. They have learned absolutely nothing and they remain without any humility.

The reality is that certain Deacons mentioned on here in the past will be ordained Priests this summer regardless of the outcry or uproar. Many others from Maynooth and the Irish College in Rome with chequered pasts will also be ordained. Complaints about active gay priests in Dublin, Armagh and elsewhere will continue to be ignored. Ignorance and silence is bliss when it comes to the past and present Irish Hirearchy and the sad fact is nobody can do a thing about it. Speak up, protest, shout and vent your anger all you want - it has been ignored and continues to be the reality.
