KING PUCK'S ORDINATION?

I HAVE HAD A LETTER SENT TO ME FROM THE CORK / KERRY AREA CLAIMING THAT THE ORDINATION OF DEACON SEAN JONES - "KING PUCK" HAS BEEN PUT ON HOLD BY THE BISHOP OF KERRY - RAY BROWNE.

SEAN JONES - FIRST FROM LEFT
Bishop Browne is just back from his Ad Limina to Rome with the other Irish bishops where they had to report to the Vatican on all that matters concerning their dioceses.

RAY JONES
Of course as the letter is anonymous we have no way of knowing whether its claims are true. The letter was posted in the Cork / Kerry area and carries the postmark of "CORK MAIL CENTRE".

I would be quite sure that neither Bishop Browne nor the Kerry Diocese would make any comment on the matter. These things are always matters of CHURCH SECRECY.

The letter states:

FOR YOUR INFORMATION

"KING PUCK'S ORDINATION PUT ON HOLD. + BROWNE HAS BALLS AND IS DOING THE RIGHT THING. HOPE +AB MARTIN HAS SOME TOO. WELL DONE + PAT".

Until we have clarification of this matter I think we are better sticking to generalities. Those generalities are:

1. Ordaining a person a priest is a very serious matter and every bishop must do his best to ordain only those he truly believes will be the best priests they can be. A bishop SHOULD NOT ordain a person he has doubts about - at least until those doubts are resolved.

2. All priests are human, imperfect and sinners. With rare exceptions most priests are not and will never be saints.

3. There are certain basic standards required of a priest - standards like sincerity, integrity, good intentions and a determination to be as close to God and as good to people as possible.

4. Currently the Roman Catholic denomination requires absolute celibacy of its priests. A man who knows he will not be able to live up to that should not put himself forward. A priest who regularly fails to be celibate should serious consider seeking another way of life.

5.  Currently there are seminarians and priests in the RC church who are living extreme double lives - declaring by what they are that they are celibate and on the other hand living sexually promiscuous lives. These men will cause major problems, hurt and scandals as priests.

6. Those who want to be priests and have a sex life should consider joining other Christian churches that do not require celibacy. This is the honest thing to do.

7. Ireland's one seminary - Maynooth - which I'm sure contains some very good seminarians has also become a byword for gay sexual promiscuity. It should be closed!

8. Some - if not all - Irish bishops are turning a blind eye to these problems. Whatever their reason for doing so - they are showing themselves UNFIT to be bishops.

9. The Vatican and the Papal Nuncio are also turning a blind eye to these problems. This may be because the whole international Church is compromised when it comes to these matters.

10. The laity will be the one to force change by privately and publicly challenging the bishops, by withholding funds from the Church and by refusing to attend Church services until there is change.

PEOPLE POWER can work.

It has brought about POLITICAL CHANGE in many countries.

PEOPLE POWER needs to be brought to bear on the CATHOLIC CHURCH  and its CLERGY - junior and senior!

A KERRY PRIEST has confirmed that Deacon Jones is still working and living at LISTOWEL PARISH.

CANON DECLAN O'CONNOR AND DEACON JONES IN LISTOWEL SACRISTY

ARCHBISHOP DIARMUID MARTIN:

I agree with what the above correspondent says about Diarmuid Martin. A bishop does need courage and he also needs wisdom.

He is currently in the spotlight - and for all the wrong reasons.

It seems that he is incapable of listening to reason on this question of who he ordains.

That seems like the actions of a man who incredibly foolish or incredibly compromised in some way.

If he goes ahead with the ordination of certain people he will be creating a very big scandal and problem.

I already know of people planning a protest if this becomes the case.

Hopefully wisdom will prevail.

  1. Ordaining or not ordaining a person is not a matter of loss or victory but as you say a serious matter for all concerned. I knew Ray Browne as a student and as a colleague in Elphin. I believe him to be a man of the (canon) law and would do what is legally appropriate

  2. If this is true, it is very good. It means that they are finally listening to the people at the bottom.

  3. I sincerely hope this is true. This deacon should not be ordained. To do so would be scandalous. What more is there to come out about him? He was sexually active as a seminarian. He went on a date with a friend of mine and propositioned him for 'fun'. However the person was horrified by this and later found out he was a seminarian.

Deacon Jones was active on the Growlr app. He made up a fake story about his life which I must say was very imaginative. Pat I can share his fictional story with you.

In all conscience he should not present himself for ordination. How can people trust someone like that. You can trust a thief but you can never trust a liar.

  5. The minute he's ordained you can see the headlines 'Priest at centre of GRINDR SEX SCANDAL ordained' , 'Man who allegedly took indecent image ordained CATHOLIC priest' , 'parishioners express concern at GAY SEX priests ordination, 'worlds SHORTEST priest ordained in IRELAND' , 'BISHOP lays hands on sex scandal priest',

This is the last thing the church will want. The media will run with the story and milk it for what it's worth.

  6. Pat get onto the diocesan office and ask if he's being ordained? ORDINATION is a public sacrament and they should confirm if the sacrament is being conferred this year on a PUBLIC deacon

    1. Diocesan offices say "no comment", use mental reservations and even lie.

Therefore we can only judge them by their actions and not by their words.

      Delete
    2. "No comment" is nearly always a thin veneer of politeness over what the person really wishes to say which is "None of your business!"

  7. Maybe what would catch the Bishop's attention would be to go to the ordination and hand out flyers about their diocese's newly ordained Priest and what to expect from him. As a seminarian ,so will be the Priest
If a seminarian has a bad formation or has not engaged in formation then there's no surprises what Priest they'll have.
The Bishop may be avoiding this serious matter as he may imagine that this scandal only scandalises some people in the north on a blog. I think once the flyers reach the average joe in the parishes, then he'll realise how serious parishioners think about the quality of the Priests that are unleashed onto them

  8. It seems to me that its a prerequisite that anyone in any form of formation must put on a front of sterility surely to God we are not perfect and anyone in Christs service should never put themselves on this false pedestal.
I say let the sexual different be ordained, let the liars, thiefs and prostitutes come forward and serve. Put the humanities back into the church. Maybe then the pews will fill because of honesty anfd love.
I'd love to have been a priest not for my own gratification but that I could diminish and he grow in use of me. As such this dying church has a lot more dying to do before it's recovery.

I don't get though why a man who has a weakness for God's created flesh should go and seek a different church/faith. Lets not forget that this celibate bull shit is man's law not God's. Its the most inhumane thing this ROMAN Church does in asking a person to freely give up their sexuality or no ministry.

Now what I have said is not new but we must remember that EVIL will always out and when it does then the church can deal with it. Instead of putting up Evil restrictions on a man or woman must to this or that to be a servant.
    CRAP thats all it is.
At least +Pat is leading the way he's not out to be a Metropolitan Tabernacle and if he has 1 or 40 on a Sunday then its true worship. Just a pity there's not another good priest to continue the work after you reach the ripe old age of 110.

The harvest is rich the labourers are few, but they don't need to be celibate or Pious Saint

    1. With all respect to Big Hank who seems a very decent sort:

The scandal of King Puck, "Gorgeous", Gaynooth, Rory Coyle, Grindr, etc,. etc., is about jokers, charlatans and hedonists inveigling their way into the priesthood.

Let us not forget, the "liars, thieves and prostitutes", whom the Lord said were making their way into the Kingdom before the scribes and pharisees, were / are CONVERTED liars, thieves, etc. They are not still plying those trades otherwise they will damage the faithful to whom they are sent as servants.

These pleasure-seeking, cynical, crass, 'jack the lad' guys, swanning though Gaynooth and getting ordained, would be still be unsuitable for the priesthood should celibacy be abolished today.

These problematic men are, at best, profoundly immature, to put it mildly. At worst, they sociopathic manipulators, users and exploiters of people, who will wreak havoc in parishes.

We can cope, as Catholics, with men with a "past" becoming priests - provided they are honest and have repented. God can make great saints out of such men.

But it is a shocking abuse of our Faith and an endangerment of the Catholic faithful, to let loose these cynical users and abusers of all that is most holy and sacred, so that they can have "a laugh" and a "carry on" for themselves.

A bishop who fails to protect the People of God from such unsuitable men is guilty of the most grave dereliction of duty.

There is no place in the priesthood for men who break God's Law which commands human sexuality be treated with reverence, respect and care - not a "meat market" like Grindr, Silverdaddies, etc.

      Delete
    2. It goes without saying that in many ways you are right but what I suppose I am trying to say is yes they will become sinners no more foe what ever Evil cannot reside in Good the two repell and Evil always exposes itself and is ousted in the end.

As for Bishop's what a fine bunch we have here such leaders have never been seen before.

Human sexuality is Gods. I see it that any young man with an honest vocation is only fodder for brainwashing if you want to call it that.

As for me I am certainly not worthy to untie any shoe and it's difficult enough to comprehend that God loves me and all my sinfulness.

Exposure I agree of such men is right but not to the point of seeking the destruction of yhe man or woman. There seems to be only an appeal to weak Bishop’s why not have it out with the gaynooth boys its right that its them who need challenged

As for Bishop Browne, he'll become the episcopal joke of the decade, the topic of every 'nudge-nudge, wink-wink' remark by fellow bishops and clerics lower in the ecclesiastical 'pecking order'.

If this man is unsuited to priesthood (and he is), then Bishop Browne is unsuited to the episcopacy if he ordains Deacon Jones.

  16. 14.26 You will find that Sean and Michael will most definitely be Ordainded this Summer as Priests. They are two fine Candidates. It's the Bishops who decide who to Ordain and not anyone on this blog. Sean is doing great work in Listowel and Michael is doing well in Rome. It would be unfair to adopt a lynch Mob mentality in relation to their forthcoming Ordination Ceremonies. The people will accept them well in their new ministry as Priests.

What I don't get is the comment @ 16:58 for example. What relevance has that to anything? What bearing does that have on the ordination of a Kerry seminarian?

When people ask these direct questions, you never answer - you obfuscate and redirect the focus rather than being straightforward and telling us why that comment is acceptable - doing the very thing you complain that other bishops do.

      Delete
    9. I do take your point. The comment at 16:58 relates to a particular person and their activities not everyone is aware of.

    10. Get off your high horse, anon at 17:58!

There was a comment from a "Seminarian" at 15:52 supportive of two individuals who are giving great scandal - describing them as "two fine Candidates" for the priesthood.

A huge part of the issue being aired here is the suitability for the priesthood of certain students currently in Maynooth - and the dogs on the street know who they are - and the scandalous lives they have been - and are - living.

So stop playing your pompous and self-righteous little games. The situation in Maynooth is so disgraceful that it is now called GAYNOOTH by many people. It has become an embarrassment to Irish Catholicism!!

The unworthy seminarians in Gaynooth need to be expelled. Maynooth is a small community. EVERYONE KNOWS WHO THEY ARE! The sick system is cosseting and facilitating them and the Kerry and Dublin deacons are just one shocking part of a wider scandal.

I wonder if you, anon at 17:56, are one of those who needs to be shown the door? Or one of their "patrons", apologists and enablers, among the clergy, including quite recently ordained???

I for one have really enjoyed today's blog and I don't need to tell Pat it was acceptable or not. I've enjoyed interacting with others today on the subject and really had a good laugh today at the comical responses. Ordination is a privilege NOT a 'right'.

  24. Hello Bishop Pat,

A follower of your blog here. Saw a video clip you uploaded recently of an Investiture of Knights and Dames in Maynooth Chapel. As far as I can see this ceremony was about a collection of society notables promising loyalty to the Church and its teachings. Surprised when I saw that, following the procession into the chapel, one Knight saw- wearing a black sash was none other than XXXXX XXXXX. XXXXX and his husband XXXXX have been an item on the gay scene for decades down South. XXXXX is a retired XXXXX, XXXXX a XXXXXXC Both are avid members of several of these medieval knighty clubs, share a passion for the glitzy gear, and can be found hob-nobbing regularly with English Catholic gentry at these liturgical pantomimes. Could Timbo possibly not be aware of this? Hmmm. Keep up the good work. Regards Peters Pence
