FROM GAY NOOTH TO GAY PARI

BREAKING NEWS !!!!
The outgoing president of Gaynooth - Monsignor Hugh "Cowboy" "The dog ate my homework" Connolly is not been allowed to return to Gaynooth after his "sabbatical" and is instead being appointed as chaplain to the Irish Community in Paris.

Bishop Noel "Never in my diocese" Treanor was in Paris last weekend to say goodbye to the outgoing chaplain and welcome Hugh Connolly who takes over his new position on September 3rd.

Hugh had told everyone that he was coming back to Maynooth to lecture in moral theology.

However somebody, somewhere else had other plans for Hugh.

It is generally recognised that he made a dog's dinner of the handling of last summer's gay scandal at Maynooth.

It soon became clear that in the Irish bishop's discussions after the gay / grindr scandal it would be better if Hugh disappeared from Maynooth completely.

But what were the bishops to do with him? One obvious option was to send him back to his diocese of Dromore in County Down and make him a parish priest in a little rural parish.

However that was not the kind of thing that Hugh would like - to go from the pink lights of Maynooth to the ass hole of nowhere in County Down. Another solution had to be found - preferably one that would get him out of Ireland altogether.

Then some bright spark thought of sending him to Gay Pari.

There he could say one Mass on a Sunday and spend the rest of him time on an extended sabbatical  - sitting in street side cafes having coffee and wandering through Pari's museums and sights.

Any of you who want to send "Wild Goose Connolly" a bon voyage card can write to:

MAYNOOTH DEACON QUITS:

A classmate of Gorgeous and King Puck - who was ordained a deacon with them last summer in Maynooth - has - according to reports from Maynooth seminarians - decided to cancel his ordination to the priesthood next weekend.

Yesterday a Maynooth seminarian informed the Blog that Deacon Aidan Gallagher of Maynooth had sent out emails cancelling his ordination?

Many people who are getting ordained - or even married - get pre ordination / marriage jitters in the days leading up to the big day.

For many the jitters pass and the event goes ahead.

For others the opposite happens.

We have yet to receive final confirmation that this cancellation is true.

Even today on the Archdiocese of Tuam website there are pictures of Deacon Aidan and Archbishop Neary together blessing Polish food baskets.

One thing is certain - that these events raise more questions about Maynooth.

There were 9 deacons ordained in Maynooth in 2016.

Two of them are still under a cloud.

Another is reputed to be pulling out DAYS before ordination.

That's 3 out of 9 - 33 1/3 %.

What is going on in Maynooth ???

  1. Dear Guest, For personal reasons, I have taken the decision to defer my ordination to the priesthood for the time being. This is a decision which I have not taken lightly and I ask you to please continue to keep me in your prayers at this time. Yours sincerely, Aidan Gallagher

    2. Deferred? So that the circumstances or conduct of the deacon can be further assessed. I wonder

  2. I wonder if there is any connection between the bitch fight on the Maynooth corridor and this ordination postponement.?

There was a lot of talk in Maynooth last Sunday that another big Maynooth scandal is about to break.

Anyone know anything about a man called Kevin Harney Heery?

    2. There is a Kevin Heery in Meath - he has a beard. This rumbles on and on due to lack of decisive action. But the house of straw maybe about to erupt in a conflagration!

    3. I know. But Father Heery's middle name is not "Harney" which is a highly unusual middle name in Ireland anyway.

    8. Wasn't there some issue with a young bearded priest from Meath at WYD last year?

    9. Yes, the bearded Meath one who was complained about to Eamon in Armagh over antics in Krakow at World Youth Day. He keeps turning up in photos with two young Armagh Priests, one of whom also attended WYD at the same time. There s a gay cabal/group/gang/clique in existence here and people would be shocked at the extent of it - all emanating from Maynooth. Not sure if you've been alerted to it yet Pat. I'd be surprised if you haven't.

  5. Never cross a Queen especially a jealous one. Some are turning against each other, ever since certain Students left for Rome the atmosphere in Gaynooth has become toxic. The Queens that were left behind have become tense, testy and vicious to each other. Some blame a few others for causing the departure of parts of their gang to Rome. Some are picking on others for leaking info to Pat Buckley, some are being blamed for dishing dirt on one another's sex lives after gin parties. There is more to come, the whole thing now seems out of control and there has been and will be more blood letting. Oh dear, the Gaynooth saga continues.

      Girl

      Origin

Middle English (denoting a child or young person of either sex): perhaps related to Low German gör ‘child’.

  6. Very wise and mature to defer Ordination if a candidate isn't sure it's the right path for him. It's a major decision. Now was the time to speak up with courage, even though it thwarted everyone's expectations.

    1. It seems to me that a full blown civil war is taking place within Maynooth?

The seminarian body seems to have been divided into camps.

The staff seem not to be able to control the division.

      Accusations are being cast about.

Some seminarians are accusing others of being Judas by talking to "outsiders".

Some seminarians seem to have "involvements" with priests.

Everyone is trying to keep the bishops out of it.

      It is a developing story.

Good seminarians are being caught in the cross fire.

      Chaos really.

    2. Meltdown, really... and cock blocking, for example, preventing another seminarian from scoring with a priest or member of the staff. It's not a pretty sight.

    1. When I was in St John's Waterford - 1973 - 1976 the seminarian toilets were outside. A long way from seaweed wraps and full body massage :-)

    2. Hugh Connolly went to swim at the Carton hotel. Not sure if the wraps and body massage were available there. If he went back to his native Dromore Diocese he could have seaweed wraps at a business offering them at the Point (Warrenpoint).

  11. Desperately sad.

Something very serious is derailing the process of formation and discernment in Maynooth. An unfit for purpose formation team lie at the root of this crisis.

Unsuitable seminarians are being allowed to proceed unhindered through the system as far as Holy Orders.

Unsuitable candidates are being accepted for formation in the first place with chaotic results. Maynooth is obviously in meltdown.

Connolly has been given a job in Paris. How will they find positions for Mullaney, Prior and Collins?

None of these men will want to return to a lowly parish in their respective dioceses and therein lies a fundamental aspect of Maynooth's malaise - entrusting the formation of students for pastoral service to men who have no interest in being pastors.

At heart, these "formators" crave power and control over others - the antithesis of true priestly ministry.

Maynooth will close now very quickly. The Irish College in Rome is not the answer either. Who did Diarmuid Martin think he was fooling last year?

A radical rethink of formation is necessary. Does the Irish Church have the imagination for the task?

What will Pope Francis think/say, if he comes to Ireland next year, faced with this debacle?

    ReplyDelete
  12. So Cowboy "the dog ate me homework" Connolly is off to Paris!

Will Fanny soon be packing her knitting needles and wool, to go back somewhere up the arse end of Cashel? Her dreams of a mitre turned to shit?

Where will Paul the Pryer take his Kinsey model of priestly formation next? Maybe an African seminary teeming with students will require his tender mercies. Aunt Sally Brady will put in a word.

And Michael "The Extractor" Collins - the mind-dentist, who operates without anaesthetic - where now for his particular set of skills?

    Watch that space.

Pagans were called pagans by the sophisticated urban early Christians, from the Latin world for field. It was the city Christians making fun of the bumpkins - Christianity was born and developed in cities.
