THE BYRNE / JONES ORDINATIONS

When Michael Jack "Gorgeous" Byrne and Sean "King Puck" Jones are being ordained in the near future the ordaining bishop will ask the following question during the ceremony and before ordaining them:

Image result for presentation of candidates for ordination

Presentation of the Candidate

When the candidate is in his place before the bishop, the priest designated by the bishop says:

Most Reverend Father, holy mother Church asks you to ordain this man, our brother, for service as priest.

The bishop says: Do you judge him to be worthy?

He answers: After inquiry among the people of Christ and upon recommendation of those concerned with his training, I testify that he has been found worthy.

Election by the Bishop and Consent of the People

13.  Bishop: We rely on the help of the Lord God and our Savior Jesus Christ, and we choose this man, our brother, for priesthood in the presbyteral order.

All present say: Thanks be to God.

WHO WILL THE BYRNE / JONES PRIEST BE?

If Gorgeous is ordained in The Irish College in Rome the priest answering the bishop (probably Diarmuid) will probably be the rector of the Irish College - Monsignor O'Carroll, a Dublin priest and a favourite of Diarmuid's.

If ordained in Dublin's Pro Cathedral the priest will be the administrator of the Pro Cathedral - a friend of Gorgeous', a priest from Archbishop's House or one of the Maynooth / Irish College staff.

If King Puck is ordained in Kerry the priest could be Fanny Mullaney of Maynooth or a priest of Kerry.

"AFTER ENQUIRY AMONG THE PEOPLE OF GOD"

Image result for the people of god

The People of God are the people of the Archdiocese of Dublin / Diocese of Kerry, the people of Ireland, the people of Maynooth and indeed the readers of this Blog.

Which of those people will have received an enquiry from anyone as to whether or not Michael Byrne or Sean Jones are WORTHY of being ordained a priest?

The only ones whose "opinions" may have been asked would be Mullaney, Collins and Prior of Maynooth and O'Carroll and his fellow staff of the Irish College.

The PEOPLE OF GOD will have NO INPUT into the decision to ordain / not ordain.

Image result for the people of god

This so called ENQUIRY will be a complete and total charade.

We are even told that the Seminary Council at Maynooth once told Diarmuid Martin that Gorgeous was not suitable and Diarmuid over ruled them and told them to take him back.

"WE RELY ON THE HELP OF THE LORD GOD AND OUR SAVIOUS JESUS CHRIST AND WE CHOOSE THIS MAN, OUR BROTHER, FOR THE PRESBYTERAL ORDER".

Really?

Has anyone - archbishop, bishop, monsignor, priest etc actually sat in front of the Blessed Sacrament and said to Jesus: "Jesus, should I ordain N..... Please guide me"?

I seriously doubt it.

So, instead of the people responding: "THANKS BE TO GOD" maybe they should be responding:

"OH! MY GOD"!

You see the RC Church (and other churches" have departed from the tradition of the Apostolic and early Christian Church where a man was put forward for ministry by the agreement and consent of the whole gathered church - the TRUE PEOPLE OF GOD.

The Catholic Church has become a HIERARCHY and a CLERICAL CLUB and the whole raison d'etre of that hierarchy and clerical club is the preservation and furtherance of the hierarchy and club.

The so called PEOPLE OF GOD are called upon to:

Pay up!

Pray up!

Shut up!

The CHURCH TAIL is now firmly wagging the CHURCH DOG!

Image result for evil ordinations

The episcopate / priesthood is now an ecclesiastical mafia. The "dons" decide who can join, who can do well, who has to go etc.

The People of God are merely a paying audience who watch the main characters play out the comedies, tragedies, dramas, horrors and love stories on the stage which is raised above audience level.

The shepherds are wolves in sheep's clothing inviting new wolves into the pack to go and ravish the sheep.

The shepherd are not true shepherds after the mind of Christ.

They are false shepherds entering by the back door!

PRIESTS BEHIND MASKS

And we are being asked to view future ordinations as the WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT" and the sending of WORKERS INTO THE LORD'S VINEYARD.

As my deceased father used to say:

"Pull the other one. There's bells on it"!

Pat, you really have an obsession with these young men and their ordinations. Leave it to those appointed to make such decisions and don't give yourself an ulcer. They will answer for their decisions right or wrong before God. So sleep well and leave the decisions to those competent to make them.

    1. I have no obsession.

I am trying to challenge wrong.

    2. You are swimming against the tide. It is clear from parishioner’s reaction to Rory Coyle the Sin of Sodom is not so sinful these days, its down there with not eating fish on Fridays, and certainly not enough to inhibit ordinations. Not in the slightest.

    3. We don't know whether Rory ever engaged in either heterosexual or homosexual sodomy of course?

    4. Bishop Pat, do not be put off by these critics of yours. What you are doing is good and necessary. Men such as Byrne and Jones should not be ordained. Those who either ordain them, or approve their ordination, are morally, spiritually and intellectually unfit to hold office in the Church.

I have nothing but praise for the work you do.

The more flack you get the more you realise you are on the right track.

You should see the comments I get that I do not publish.

    6. I am sure they’ll be fine now they have sown their wild oats. Also, they have probably both obtained absolution and/or undergone some sort of defagmentation therapy before the rite of ordination. Family and friend’s thoughts should now be focused on appropriate gifts to be given following their ordination into the priesthood.

So they say that Byrne was a boxer, well I tell you now I will personally box the head of him and that kerry clown if I ever see them within an inch of my kids! Collar or no collar...

  3. I think Pat's Dad meant to quote the famous tennis player "you can not be serious" I agree also much liturgy has become a play like a Shakespeare comedy or tragedy. There is I think very little enquiring done among the people these days. Commercial interests run the wedding industry. People pay a fortune. Some would see the ceremony as a day on stage but I doubt the would use that terminology

  4. I think maybe the more modern twist is

"Pull the other one I know its got BALLs on"

Your so right the RC only looks after those who play the game. This week I've been working hard lets say with the sick. Not one priest in sight, I was asked by some 3 days ago for communion and so I made the referral. As of today they are still hungry and I have referred again. Potentially they will die without their wish. Before anyones asks why didn't I bring communion to them, well there's many reasons the main one, not being part of their team,

    3. @12:13 - the correct version of your sentence is as follows:

"Sorry Big Hank, the correct version is, 'You're so right..'".

The use of 'would' as a modal verb doesn't work in your sentence. And, of course, there is the perennially absent full stop and comma, not to mention the superfluous comma at the start of the sentence.

Keep up the good work Big Hank.

  5. They are seriously short of manpower and will take anyone. Priests have always been in gay/heterosexual relationships, people just turned a blind eye. I remember going into a pub out of my locality 25 years ago and seeing my local curate holding hands with a lady friend I pretended not to see him, he pretended not to see me and left shortly afterwards. No one cares.

Fair play to the curate I just wish he was stronger to walk away and live a life as God intended us to do as sexual beings. It's been alright for the non RC churches for time as long as I can discover. The Pucks and the Gorgeous of this world only live in lies which will bring them down quicker than this blog I feel.

    1. But should everyone just walk away rather than challenge from within? For me, I was greatly influenced by Hans Küng's book, "The Church", in which he argues that disagreement with doctrine does not require a Catholic to walk away from the Church. The extremists that sometimes comment on the blog imagine a simplistic Magisterium where a pithy line in a dicastery instruction etc ends all debate. I think that for those who do not take such a view, there is no requirement to walk away.

Mind you, I don't think it applies to the Deacon situation. But for another priest looking at more of a relationship than a quick sexual encounter, I cannot say that I would expect him to leave at all.

Pat- All seminarians go on the Maynooth class piece who are in that year. There is nothing strange about it. Rome does not have one. It also has other deacons from Rome on it and there are also deacons from orders on it too. Stop spreading malicious lies.

    5. @Sean Page
Absolutely, of course the stress and tension isn't Pat's fault.
Could there be exams in May at Maynooth? - That would be an obvious source.
That said, I have been struck by how stressy Oscott is - for no reason than that people are put under unnecessary tension. I have seen an Oscott seminarian seriously express the belief that he would be dismissed for exceeding the word count on an essay!
If Maynooth operates the same climate of continual fear (although it sounds like it's also way more dramatic than Oscott) it is bound to be a stressful and tense place.
Add in to the equation a number of other things - the conflict between students and the sexual frustration bound to be experienced by any young men attempting to live a celibate life for starters - and you have a recipe for an awful place!
Perhaps seminary's main lesson is how to grin and bear shit while quietly going off your head?

    6. The poster at 22. 55 has summed up the issues involved very well. Couldn't have explained it better myself. My belief is that Seminaries exist to break a person, especially emotionally and psychologically. The scrutiny that now exists within Seminaries is unreal, quite a few look back nowadays and genuinely ask, "How the hell did I survive that pig sty"? Not helped by having dysfunctional staff who shouldn't be let anywhere near human beings let alone a Seminary.
