MAYNOOTH - TUAM - HITLER

President Elect Mullaney
HITLER REACTS TO MULLANEY APPOINTMENT

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DEACON AIDAN GALLAGHER TUAM:

Deacon Gallagher and Archbishop Neary
Last Sunday Archbishop Michael Neary was in Maynooth ordaining the deacon class of 2017.

At the same time he had a meeting with Deacon Aidan Gallagher whom he was due to ordain a priest this coming Sunday June 4th.

The meeting was obviously about something more serious than the deacon's penchant for sea weed treatments at the Carlton Hotel in Maynooth.

Sometime after that meeting Deacon Gallagher disappeared from Maynooth and has not been seen there - or anywhere else - since then.

At the beginning of the week Deacon Gallagher emailed all his ordination guests with the following brief email:

"Dear Guest,

For personal reasons, I have taken the decision to defer my ordination to the priesthood for the time being.

This is a decision which I have not taken lightly and I ask you to please continue to keep me in your prayers at this time.

Aidan Gallagher

At first there was the speculation that we were dealing with another in-house Maynooth scandal.

Then came comments to the blog that the cancellation of the ordination was not related to Maynooth.

A Tuam priest then contacted the blog to say that the cancellation was indeed not related at all to Maynooth.

Another Tuam priest then left this comment on the Blog:

"This private matter should not be discussed on this blog at this time but should be left to the proper authorities to deal with.

The situation which is a private family matter should be handled very carefully.

Tuam priest".

Another comment made the declaration that behind this was a matter that had been referred to the Garda.

Then the Archdiocese of Tuam took down all references to Deacon Gallagher and all his photographs with Archbishop Neary.

Any effort to find the deacon on the Tuam website led to this message:

It looks as if Neary of Tuam has taken to the hills and refused to comment on this matter.

Why did he not publish a small, dignified statement along these lines:

"I wish to announce that the ordination of Deacon Gallagher is not proceeding at this time for reasons that are private, sensitive and that are being dealt with by the appropriate authorities. I would ask that people desist from empty speculation and that instead they remember Deacon Gallagher, his family and all others involved in this matter in their prayers.

+Michael Neary
Archbishop of Tuam.

Instead Neary has gone into hiding as bishops have done for so long and in so doing he has created even more speculation.

His handling of this situation has also led to questions from the national media.

An ordination is a very public occasion attracting widespread public interest.

An ordination being cancelled within days of taking place gives rise to wild speculation.

The disappearance of a deacon into thin air is bound to cause a stir.

Maynooth is already a byword for scandal and church cover up.

Now we have another long hot summer of Maynooth / Church scandal and gossip.

It clearly is a dysfunctional place requiring not minor surgery - but closure.

Close the place and start all over again.

In continuing to allow the Maynooth wound to fester the Irish Catholic Bishops are showing cowardice, immense lack of wisdom and common sense.

And day by day someone else is getting hurt.

And the Church and its clergy are coming into more and more disrepute.

And they think it will be solved by President Elect Mullaney?

Someone needs to buy each Irish Catholic bishop a copy of that excellent book LEADERSHIP FOR DUMMIES

Leadership For Dummies by John Marrin

  1. So what is the National media saying about this
Is the papers needing to be read tomorrow ?

  2. Even though serious, and thoughts go out to the wee lad, the way this catholic company operates is very childish, odd and unbelievable, its made me chuckle. Very embarrassing indeed.

  3. As usual it will attract no media interest since it is a non-story - or in Trumpspeak it is fake news. I w ill have the idiots who post here jumping up and down but since they are mostly disgruntled clerics or ex clerics who cares?
There are enough real issues in the church and the world to occupy the human mind.

  5. Well there certainly not many ordinations or vocations within the Rc church

    1. It depends on what continent you are looking at.. The Pontifical Year Book for 2017 shows that the number of vocations shows sustained growth in African countries and in Asia but there is a problem in some European countries, including of course, Ireland. The overall number of Church members has increased, especially in America,so they are certainly noticing their shortage of priests. However, Ireland is where we live and we have experienced parishes having to share clergy and the number of Masses has been reduced on Sunday mornings. In some ways that has made those of us who try to attend regularly appreciate what we have still got. We should never be complacent or forget that we have a long history of battling against the odds to practise our Faith, for many different reasons over the centuries. The dreadful problems in Maynooth should not be visited upon us! We deserve better by far. The situation there causes us to be inward thinking and to lose heart and take our eye off the bigger picture. That's very unfortunate.

  6. People made to disappear is not a healthy way to deal with any issue. Perhaps the 'Black Hole of Tuam' is another phenomenon the challenged diocese has to deal with.

  7. The Orish Bishops do not learn one thing. They say nothing on these occasions which fuel speculation, rumour and gossip. I'm led to believe that this case is far from being "Fake news" and future reports will prove that. You had a blog recently, if my memory serves me correctly, about a Bishop in Northampton in England who was very open and honest about problem priests. Should not the Irish Hirearchy learn from this humble man and release a small statement. It's another case, as you so elegantly put it, "Running for the hills". The present Irish Hirearchy explains the mess we are in and it explains why we have an institution such as Gaynooth.

    1. I fully agree with you.
But maybe those who attend Mass regularly in Tuam will hear some information. It is also worth remembering that sometimes people who are in any way involved with a case or impending situation are frequently forbidden to discuss or disclose any details which would be seen, at a later stage, to have influenced or prejudiced the outcome.

  8. Bishop Pat - this is all a terrible mess. I do think this deacon should be given space and privacy, and we should not be fuelling speculation.

On another note, I know that video is making light of the Maynooth situation, and it certainly gave me a laugh, but is it true that Fanny Mullaney threatened legal action against seminarians? And if so why?

    1. It is all a terrible mess.

I think Fanny was trying to frighten the seminarians into not leaking information to this blog and to journalists.

It is basically trying to hide Maynooth "goings on" from the public and the Catholic laity.

      Delete
    2. That's what I was thinking, Pat. Well, if it's true, the threats have backfired on him big time. But to think that someone who operates in that kind of way is going to be made president! How exactly do the bishops think that's a good move?!

Could Archbishop Neary have hidden him in the septic tank at Archbishop's House, Tuam.

  11. I read with most interest, the name of a Bishop from England, who is mentioned on this blog earlier; a most humble man. I read that he is in Dublin tomorrow at a meeting for World meeting of Families. You probably didn't know that. Such a man would surely sort out Maynooth. Just a pity we couldn't enlist his help when here. Somebody said once, "Just look at the watch he wears". What do you think Bishop Pat?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think he was in Dublin for a day.

Sorting out Maynooth will take a lot longer.

That Bishop of Northampton is also soon to retire.

He is currently searching for a retirement home in the South of England.

I have said on here for a while you need to investigate Galway, Tuam and Clonfert. There is mileage in doing so. Not really shocked with Tuam deacon, sorry for his family and the shame that will emerge on them in the next days ahead.

      Delete
    10. Why don't you finance him? Like you say, you've been mentioning it for a while on this blog. I'm all for bringing "strange goings on" to light, but you seem quite obsessed.

If you have concerns or specifics about these dioceses, why don't you contact bishop Pat if you haven't already?

  13. Pat every summer we seem to be having some scandal conntected with maynooth, most of the year is realy quiet and then coming up the summer is kicks off, what happens:
1.it is linked with the ordinations and bfs leaving
    2. the seminarians feel the pressure of going back into civy life for the summer and away from the excitement of the maynooth sauna

  14. Pat who is paying for the spa treatments , where is the money coming from? this is turning into a big joke.

  15. Pat its time to pull out all the stops. As I have told you before there is a link between Oscott - Maynooth - Dublin Pro cathedral.

You will remember you did a blog on the seminarians in dublin from oscott over 24 hours last year, have another look at those guys, why did they travel across and stayed in the pro cathedral , i wonder why??

  16. Will today be the day that everything starts falling down, today is Friday will something major be on the front pages of the indo on sunday Pat , check out Clonfert and a certain VG

  17. Pat, I know it is an evolving story and you cannot yet reveal more, but are we dealing with something worse than the King Puck and Silverdaddy situation? Or is it of a different nature entirely? So that those of us who find the whole thing profoundly depressing can brace ourselves. I'm not liking the sound of Gardai involvement.

    1. The story emerging is much worse. Raises questions over the church and it's history.

    2. We may be looking at a matter that involves the civil authorities.

It also raises the question of the effectiveness of Maynooth's vetting procedures?

    3. With the case in question, yes it raises the question of the effectiveness of Maynooth's vetting procedures.

      Delete
    4. Vetting procedures have been mentioned. As far as I am aware, all students attend St Lukes Manchester for psych and evaluation since 2008, this is well before when this student would have started in Maynooth. As a follow up to this also, Gardai clearance check is also taken up for seminarians starting in Maynooth. If Gardai are involved one asks the question are minors involved?

Maggie was a wee bit shaky on her stilettos so Big Lily was linking her. She was prably in Kelly's Cellars. Again. She rings Big Lily to go down and walk her home.

Thon poor aul cratur Lily is tormented with thon aul beg Carter.

Aul Maggie btw has a wee job on the sly. She goes round the parked cars on all the streets downtown and if they haven't got a parking ticket - or the ticket is expired - she rings her mate Margie the Meter Maid.

Ach sure it gets aul Carter outta the house and it gives Big Lily a couple of hours peace. Aul Mags gets a few bob that she goes and spends on the slot machines so everyone's a winner (except hor for she never wins nathin). She's never off them machines so she's not.

Anyhow, keep that til yerselves bout Maggie's wee job on the side. She's afeard of people finding out and puttin' her windys in. Or worse still, the brew findin' out.

  27. Pat its common practice in the Uk dioceses now to publish the names and pictures of seminarians on their websites and all materials used so that parishenors can come forward with any information about them. I am wondering if this has any milleage for Ireland , should be not now publish the names and pictures of the current seminiarians in maynooth and for those ppl to come forward with information about their suitability while there is still time before ordination?

    3. 10.47 I am totally correct , this has been in place since 2008 following the phyc evaluations at St Lukes and then selection conferences at Oscott, each diocese now publishes the names/images of each man chosen so that the faithful can come forward with concerns. 10.47 please dont comment if you are unaware of the systems in place.

For some I imagine excentricity veiled a darker side to which I thankfully was never exposed. Slightly on an aside from this.
