WATERFORD PP IN 20 YEAR GAY RELATIONSHIP ???

PHONSIE WHEN ASKED ABOUT BISHOP PAT BUCKLEY BY WATERFORD REPORTER

WATERFORD PP IN 20 YEAR RELATIONSHIP ???

CURRENT AND FORMER BISHOP TURNING A BLIND EYE ???

On Friday I received the following message from a Waterford lady parishioner:

Bishop Buckley, I read your blog about the Waterford priest on the programme with Francis Brennan. He's not dying of cancer as per some of the comments.

My parish priest - Father Xxxxxxx Xxxxxxxxxis an openly gay man, which I have no problem with, but he lives with his partner Xxxxx X'Xxxxx in Xxxxxxxxx Co Waterford, for more than 20 years.

The Bishop is aware of this yet does nothing to stop it. Bishop Lee also knew about it and accepted it.

The mind boggles - there's such a fuss about lads in Maynooth who are not ordained yet but they accept an ordained priest living with a man!

Most of the Waterford priests are gay.

On Father Geoghegan - tune into the Francis Brennan show this Sunday night on RTE 1 at 8.30 pm. You are in for a treat.

I'm not offering you information to cause any trouble but just so you are aware of the facts.

YESTERDAY AT 4 PM I SENT PHONSIE THIS EMAIL WITH THE FULL NON DEDACTED INFORMATION:

PHONSIE CULLINAN
WATERFORD AND LISMORE.

22nd July, 2017,

Phonsie,

I am forwarding you an email I have had from one of your parishioners naming one of your PPs and his 20  gay relationship.

Bishop Buckley, I read your blog about the Waterford priest on the programme with Francis Brennan. He's not dying of cancer as per some of the comments.

Phonsie, Can I ask you to clarify for me and my Blog readers:

  1. Is the information in this message true?
  2. Are you ignoring this situation?
  3. Did Willie Lee ignore this situation?
  4. What will you do about it now?

Can I also ask you how you can tolerate situations like this - where according to your Church, a priest is behaving in a sinful manner and causing grave scandal to your people

AND

At the same time justify refusing me Holy Communion in Tramore?

Does this make you a hypocrite?

Refusal to answer this email will suggest to me and to many others that you are willing to, and do behave, with duplicity!

(Bishop) Pat Buckley

  1. Well pat, you were denied Holy Communion because you are not Catholic. Even you with the substandard formation you received can figure thar out by yourself.

    1. 00.19. It's against Canon law to deny communion at the rails. There is no legislation on a priest throwing a Paddy yet I think

    2. Well Pagey as you know Holy Communion is for those who are in Communion with the One True Church, unlike you and pat. Your formation was pretty substandard too.

    3. 09.42 You sound so much like a bitter and twisted old PP. Throw in a big heap of self righteousness and arrogance for good nature. You should go away and learn a good dose of humility.

      Delete
    4. Hahaha, nah, im nursing a hangover, the PP thing ain't my gig. Simply put though, you are Catholic or not, so don't label me with self righteousness. Pot kettle black and all that. So, take a shite or get off the toliet as they say.

    5. At least the shite is not coming out of my mouth unlike yours.

    6. Oh what a retort, the intelllect is staggering.

    7. 9.42 Was Jesus in communion with the RC Church. Did he bless a little round wafer. The real world is so much less sufficating

Is Xxxxi bragging, or complaining? I wonder.

  3. A priest living with another man for twenty years? I am sure there must be an innocent explanation for the situation.

I am sure +Phonsie will have the means to put scandalised readers' minds at rest soon.

  5. Who says you are not Catholic Pat. Not Roman maybe. What about these alleged sinners who concecrate and receive Communion. I'm sure there is a canon law get out of jail card. As I've often said the RC church does not own Jesus nor do they have a monopoly on sacraments. In the words of Fr Jack they can fek off. I feel sorry for any poor soul who feels guilt ridden and under thumb

    1. Don't you have some 'service' to attend with your reformed brethren? You talk a good game, but your life has been anything but that.

    2. Stop your bullying of Sean Page you at 09.44. Should you not be saying your prayers?

    3. I never heard a big load of shite before me in all my life. Phonsie on YouTube talking about the theology of the body, what the hell? Is the man living in the same planet as the rest of us. Total clap trap and pure nonsense. I couldn't believe the drivel the man was coming out with. Very creepy eyes also, what a weird man.

  6. Bishop Pat, can you tell me - has the picture of Bishop Phonsie been altered - it looks photoshopped? If it has, and if you knew it, what is to be gained by using such an image - it dilutes massively the point you are making and is childish. If I have got this wrong, then genuine apologies.

    1. A Waterford priest sent it to me?

Apparently the poor man has a temper.

That day in Tramore I thought he was going to hit me!

      Delete
    2. 09.25 It's only a picture!! No need to get so worked up about so little. You sound like one of Phonsies fan club.

      Delete
    3. I thought you were going to get a slap too Pat as did many of the priests present. Poor Oul Phonsie was apoplectic with rage. He had to be brought water on the altar and had two more glasses in the sacristy. Most of us agreed that HE had let himself down badly. He should have ignored you especially for the sake of John Shine's family. RIP. Waterford PP.

    4. Still can picture Phonsies face that day in Trample, contorted with rage and his eyes bulging out lol. When he waved at priests to come and throw you out and only one got up was pure embarrassing. He let himself down. Waterford Priest.

    5. Pity Phonsie didn't clatter you, you're a pup.

      Delete
    6. So it would have been GOOD for Phonsie to ASSAULT me?

      Delete
    7. Absolutely. You deserve a good slap for your arrogance and insolence. The church would have applauded.

      Delete
    8. You mother should have taken the wooden spoon to you and you wouldn't be the brat you grew into.

    9. 0954 - You ask if I am one of Phonsie's fan club - fair enough question; nothing could be further from the truth - although I don't know the man, the events described by Pat certainly make him sound like a lot of other bishops; ineffectual and a bit of a tube. Yes, it's only a picture but my point was that the allegations made by Pat are serious ones that Phonsie and others need to answer. Using silly pictures of him on this blog just gives him the ammunition to treat Pat as a clown and hide behind the cloak of "sure I don't need to dignify the allegations from the likes of him" nonsense. The thing I'm worked up about is what is happening in the Church and I think that we don't need to give ammunition to people to assist them to be avoid being held to account and provide serious answers to serious allegations.

      Delete
    10. 11.03 The Church would not have applauded - get real. We were all there for a funeral don't forget. I hardly think a Bishop would slap anyone because that would be assault and his position would become untenable. No I think the person who needs a good clatter is you.

      ".....Using silly pictures of him.....etc"
Pat, this is an excellent point well made here by Anon @ 11:11. I know you've previously mentioned the value of humour, but as others may have different perceptions of what constitutes humour, perhaps you would do well to consider the implications mentioned in this comment.

  7. The onus is now on Phonsie to confirm what the situation is concerning Fr.Richard and what he is going to do about it as his Bishop. Simply turning a blind eye and looking the other way is no longer good enough. Phonsie's predecessor Willie Lee allowed this to go unchecked and turned a blind eye for many years. It's just sheer hypocrisy on their part.

    1. I studied in Thurles under Winnie Lee as we called him. He was the master of "sitting on it".

      Delete
    2. I agree with you 10.00 about Winnie Lee. A Master at 'sitting on it' but a Master of 'cover ups' also in his time at the prison camp that was Thurles.

      Delete
    3. I wonder what is meant by "sitting on it"? (It's probably a known colloquial expression in some part of Ireland...)

      Delete
    4. 'Sitting on it' is as it says. Basically means doing nothing about it.

      Delete
    5. Willie Lee, the Bishop who moved Priest abusers around from parish to parish and had to apologise for it. Old Willie turned a blind eye to lots of things including this gay relationship

    6. To poster @15.08
Thank you for explaining "sitting on it"! That's fine... now I understand.

But there is one rule for a gay bishop or priest.

And another rule for a gay lay man or woman.

  11. My late husband always referred to Willie Lee as "Auntie Winnie". I thought it was his own joke but I realise now that he must have heard it from his brother who studied for the priesthood in Thurles.

  12. Christopher West talks a load of crap, that's all he's good for. He gets big fat cheques from people like Phonsie for giving talks on theology of the body.

  14. Pat. This is awful behaviour if this is true about this priest in a 20 year relationship. I bet the bishop of Lancaster wouldn't allow that sort of carry on in his diocese

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No, I doubt Lancaster would tolerate it as would Shrewsbury or Portsmouth. Their is the issue of women living with priests too, some of them as live in housekeepers in relationships with the PP. Bishops equally are aware of such situations but ignore it, turn a blind eye. I'm not sure if you know of one such case in Co. Derry Pat.

      Delete
    2. I know of the very prominent case.

I've written to Donal McKeown about it on behalf of the parishioners who came to see me.

      McKeown has done nothing.

And yet he preaches about adultery!

      Delete
    3. Is it true Pat that McKeown simply sent this PP and housekeeper to another parish - together! Now that's what I call a hypocrite and he preaches against living in sin.

      Delete
    4. Pat, have you heard Donal McKeown preaching about adultery or heard that he did.

      Just curious.

      Delete
    5. He upholds Church teaching on marriage and recommends Theology of the Body - which only counters sex between a validly married man and woman.

In spite of this he protects several priests who are involved with men and women including a younger priest with a 50+ year old boyfriend.

      Delete
    6. Tell us more who are these priests in Co. Derry?

      Delete
    7. Donal McKeown is turning a blind eye to this Co.Derry Priest and housekeeper relationship. The hypocritical thing is he has simply moved him and her to a new parish after he was told about it. People are being misled on this.

      Delete
    8. Who is it?

      Delete
  15. In spite of what Cullinan says about the so-called 'Theology of the Body', he seems to have little understanding of it. Nor does he appear genuinely 'excited' at the prospect of West's lecture-tour (hence the compensatory exaggerative gestures).

I'm not convinced by Cullinan's 'salespitch'. (Norman , I think, is he.)
