NEW MAYNOOTH SCANDAL

THE BLOG HAS BEEN MADE AWARE OF A NEW SCANDAL BREWING AT MAYNOOTH SEMINARY - A SCANDAL THAT MAY VERY WELL BE MORE DAMNING THAN LAST SUMMER'S GRINDR SCANDAL.

Dermo

A well placed and well-informed source has made a formal complaint, in writing to Archbishop Diarmuid Martin of Dublin, Archbishop Eamon Martin of Armagh and the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in Rome (CDF)

Amy

To date, the complainant has not received either an acknowledgment of their complaint from any of the three sources.

CDF
The complaint involves both sexual matters and matters of corruption/administration and it names laymen, priests, and seminarians.

The complainant asks the CDF/Vatican to remove the "Pontifical" status of Maynooth until a thorough investigation has taken place.

They have also asked Diarmuid and Eamon Martin to place the complaint on the agenda for the Autumn meeting of the bishops which takes place in a few weeks in October.

They have also asked the Vatican to break all ties with Maynooth on the basis of their complaint.

Furthermore, the complainant has threatened the bishops with the release of all the information they have to RTE's Prime Time programme if no action is taken by them.

They insist that the matter they have reported requires the immediate resignation of senior people in Maynooth.

The person who made this complaint played a very significant role in the exposure of last year's Grindr scandal at Maynooth - and as such what they have to say carried a lot of weight.

As of yet, while they have named names to me, they have not provided me with the information and evidence I would need to publish all they claim on this Blog.

Needless to say, if and when they do I will bring all the information to the attention of the readers here.

After last year's gay sex scandals the incoming president was appointed for a short three-year term instead of the normal ten-year term.

Furthermore, it was announced that within that three period a new office of "rector" would be created.

Maynooth had only SIX men enter the seminary this year - the lowest in its whole history.

Maynooth is gasping for its last breath.

Another big scandal will kill it off completely!

  4. As someone who was involved with a REAL complaint about Maynooth, and who saw the fallout from that - seminarians kicked out pronto and their characters assassinated in the Church since then - this one sounds all about Grandstanding and no actual facts anywhere. All grandiose sounding highfalutin prose and requests for the removal of a status and title - and no facts. Get on with the complaint or shut it. Piss or get off the pot.

  6. The saddest issue in the Irish church is the voluntary self-muzzling of newly appointed Bishops who knew all about scandals in Maynooth before their elevations but immediately after episcopal elevations, have joined the ranks of the See, Hear and Speak no criticisms of Maynooth and those in there destroying it from within. Kevin Doran knows a lot about what has gone on in there and since his elevation - nothing to say. Alan McGuckian knows a lot about what has gone on in Maynooth and the wider church and he will be a very safe defender of the Silence and Cover Ups. He stoutly defended Cardinal Sean Brady against any Press pressure to stand down to prevent a precedent being set of resignation flowing from media or public demands. He will be able to spend some years reading the Raphoe Diocesan archives of child abuse not dealt with properly by his predecessor, Hegarty the On/Off Dementia sufferer. The crisis in the Irish Church lies firmly with the robotic, silenced and silent Bishops who give no lead and express no hope.

  8. Pat, I believe that last year you put some faith in Diarmuid Martin that he would act sincerely and justly with regard to Maynooth - instead he put on a theatrical show of moving his pawns to Roma and then back again - pure theatre from a Media Manipulator.

You are aware, almost more than anyone I know, of good seminarians who made serious complaints about Maynooth and were then carefully undermined and later dumped out the hallowed gates never to be welcomed in any diocese in Ireland.

What makes you think that your latest suicide missionary will survive any better with his little ink pen against these vicious defenders of the scandalous pit of iniquity that is Maynooth?

    4. What about ye, hi? Up here in the North Waste, I had lunch with Bishop Seamus Hegarty. He spent some time telling me about saving a disappeared alcoholic priest who had been found in a homeless shelter in England. Well done! He then told me about getting rid of an ex-Dublin seminarian (who had been accepted by Derry) because he had a TATTOO. Well done?

He didn't tell me why he dumped family GP Doctor Felim Donnelly after Felim made a complaint about 'strange goings on' in Maynooth. Nor did he tell me why he ordained one seminarian who admitted cruising rent boys in Dublin.

I am, since then, very disappointed and hopeless about the calibre, integrity and honesty of our Irish Bishops.

I would like to call them a Bunch of Wankers, but that would be uncharitable.

    5. It sounds from what you say (@10.19) that Bishop Hegarty "didn't tell" you a lot of things!

  9. A very good friend of mine, he is gay, had a long standing relationship with a PP of the Dublin diocese. The PP passed away and left instruction in his will for his, ipso facto partner , money etc, etc. My friend contacted DM as he had to for some pertinent reasons. The first words out of DM's mouth was ( on the phone) : " did he (the PP) ever give u any money?" I was shocked to say the least and yet upon reflection it doesn't surprise me.

Anyway, thought I'd let me know.
Love the blog. It has opened my eyes. Thank you.

  10. Good morning, Pat. Your scribe at 09.40 hit the nail on the thumb. Anybody making a complaint about Maynooth will pay an extreme price indeed throughout the Irish church from Derry to Kerry. There is no welcome for facts, truth or ANYTHING IN WRITING.

I too was loosely involved with an internal complaint about a Professor in the seminary and I carry the wound to this day - I and others associated with it are entirely Persona Non Grata en la iglesia irlandesa.

I am a man of the world. I have sinned in many ways. I hold no grudge against any sinner. I want mercy for all. I understand the difficulties of young people with sexual and lustful energies in all kinds of situations. I have only respect for everyone who crosses my path - straight, gay or transgender.

But I still don't fully comprehend the Irish Bishops defending the Keep of wanton homosexuality within a seminary - surely all those in Maynooth were bound to at the very least attempt to be celibate for a time? Wasn't that part of the formation process, whatever that was supposed to be?

Why are they so bitterly bent on defending the 'strange goings on'?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Because they will not countenance ANYONE telling them what to do.

Also some may be personally compromised.

And others are secret homosexuals who favour young men - especially if they are handsome or flatter them.

  11. I was passing AB house in Dublin a while ago and am sure I saw Gorgeous being driven out by a priest. They were having a great laugh.

  12. We must give Bishop Hegarty credit for making himself absent on the very morning of the release of the report into child abuse in the Raphoe Diocese when he had been bishop - an absence he attributed to the sudden onset of dementia. The Shepherd who fled the flock just before an embarrassing report publication.

I suppose then that we should give Bishop Hegarty credit for then appearing at various diocesan Masses and meetings after that, miraculously in remission just after not having to answer for the Raphoe debacle.

I would like to give him a lot of credit for steering the lunch conversation away from the elephant in the room - his pathetic failure to support a man he had personally asked to enter the priesthood, Dr. Felim Donnelly, and whom he instantly dumped the moment he heard about the Felim's complaint about homosexuality in Maynooth.

To polish himself as a man capable of getting rid of a seminarian because he had a TATTOO while we were both aware of a seminarian he was preparing to ordain who had admitted cruising young and very sick and abused rent boys in Dublin - this kind of HYPROCRISY sickens me to the very core.

Anybody would want to rescue an alcoholic priest from a homeless shelter in England. Anybody would do it. Many would never mention it or seek credit for it.

But to parade this to cover up his most cowardly failure to answer for Raphoe and his excessively pathetic failure to stand with Dr. Donnelly to root our corruption in Maynooth - this parade of false virtue in the plain sight of SCANDALOUS Maynooth poisons - this, above all this - had ended my faith in any Irish Bishop.

Yes Men all of them. Willing to see young unformed men put in moral harm's way in Gaynooth without a care.

A day of reckoning will surely come for these cowards.

    ReplyDelete
  13. There is no need for a day of reckoning for Irish Bishops - it is already here.

    NO VOCATIONS!

  15. Ciao, Patricio! Buon giorno! Interesting reading today. I was asked by a number of European journalists recently to describe in short the status of the Irish Church.

I answered as I felt: a church staring only at its own navel, concerned more with homosexual matters in its last semenary and totally failing to preach the Gospel in its cities and in its villages.

The collapse of the Irish church is occurring because of Bishops failures to get their minds off of homosexual matters in their dioceses and semenary and onto the job of preaching the Good News.

The Irish Bishops are strangling the remains of the Irish church.

    1. Mio amico, penso no. Che cosa Lei ha detto è corretto, ma c'e piu.

You describe a symptom. We do better to identify the cause. The church has these problems because it still holds to an articulation of human sexuality that is not fit for purpose and does not make sound theological sense.

The problems of clerical acting-out and sexual activity by seminarians will only begin to be remedied when a rotten theology of sex is corrected.

Ma, questo è solo la mia opinione...

    2. At the moment my parish priest is in an induced coma following a heart attack, probably caused by over work. We do not know if he will come back or if we will get another one. He is well educated, very hardworking, humane and good with absolutely everyone. We are unlikely to see his like again. I doubt if it would bother most of the parishioners if we had two gay married priests in the presbytery. If most are gay they have a right to companionship. The church does not seem to treat it's priests very well.

  25. The Most Reverened Doctor Seamus Hegarty, bishop Emeritus of Derry and former Lord Bishop of Raphoe is an oul bastard!
He presided over a diocese where he had loads of time for the money brigade while child abusing clergy and pervert priests run rampant in his diocese.
There were a number of suicides of young men linked to the abuser Fr Eugene Green. In fact a former Garda detective wrote an excellent book detailing the cesspit of Raphoe diocese in hegartys watch.
On the night a teacher from a well known Fallcarragh family, Master McGinkay, was convicted of a catalogue of sex crimes against c hildren did Hegarty visit the families of the victims? . Did he fuck! He visited the wealthy McGinlays. A clear example of how rotten he was running brown nosing after the wealthy.
And then when a report into his abject failure as a bishop delivered a damning verdict on his abysmal stewardship he suddenly resigned. Dementia !!!

    1. You would might like to know maybe karma is coming back to bite Hegarty in the ass, as he is now resident in Muff, County Donegal and he has dementia. From what I have heard from people in the know, it seems he is losing a lot of his memory and it will come to a point where he will not remember being a priest/bishop. A horrible disease to have, and no human with half decency would want someone to suffer, but if there is karma, then his silence and moving Green around from parish to parish is now coming back to haunt him, in my opinion.

    1. That was me, Bishop Pat. Easily done, fat finger trouble and as we all know only one person at a time is infallible in this big round world of ours: Pope Francis.

What I was saying was that the 2017 ordination season is well and truly over. It's reasonable to assume that King Puck's moment has passed.

There was a suggestion a while back by a commentator on this blog that the Dublin priest ordinations would take place on 14 November. That's the feast day of St Laurence O'Toole, the co-patron of the Archdiocese of Dublin.

14 Nov is not far off so we'll know what happened about Gorgeous then, one way or another

I've never heard of a priedt in November. It's usually a year after diaconate, which typically happens around Easter or Pentecost.

In a few weeks we'll know whether Puck and Gorgeous are toast. Pat will have prevented an entirely unsuitable ordination of unworthy candidates as Canon Law would have it.

They were presented for ordination by Maynooth, that parody of a seminary.

      Delete
    2. I think that we can safely conclude that Puck's ordination as a priest is postponed until further notice. Unless it will be celebrated on St Brendan's feast day. Didn't he travel to America on a leaf?

      Delete
    3. Both Puck and Gorgeous are young men. As such their chances of reemployment are high. They'll be ok and the church is spared future scandal and suffering by maybe vulnerable parishoners.

His face / piety didn't fit in with the prevalent Maynooth "Charism!!??" and people / circumstances conspired to bring about his exit. Whilst Church teaching remains as it is, men entering a seminary should demonstrate and then expect every support in living celibate, chaste, pure, prayerful and holy lives, in the world, yes, but not of it.
