AMY'S ATTACK ON BLOG FAILS!

AMY MARTIN
On January 6th 2017 - the Feast of the Ephiany - the RC incumbent of Armagh, Amy Martin, launched an attack on this Blog by dispatching his highly salaried Safeguarding Officer, Aidan Gordon, to Armagh PSNI (Police Service for Northern Ireland) station to make a formal complaint about a comment on the Blog.

AIDAN GORDON
The comment they chose to complain about - not written by me - but by a Blog reader - used figurative language to complain about RC Church corruption. It was 100% clear that there was no actual threat in the comment.

But Amy & Co thought it gave them a chance to attack this Blog and possibly put it out of commission - their effort to silence the Blog's critical approach  - and to silence the voices of protest.

I think it was also "payback" for the fact that this Blog brought the Maynooth Grindr scandal to national prominence in the summer of 2016.

Subsequently, I was interviewed "under caution" at Larne PSNI station and told that a file would be sent to the PPS (Public Prosecution Service).

The investigating officers, who treated me with great respect, told me I would hear the outcome within 14 DAYS.

Ten months and 14 days later the investigating officers contacted me today to say that the police and PPS would be taking no action on the complaint and that I would receive confirmation of this in writing in the coming days.

So these questions arise?

1. What kind of thinking did Amy & Co engage in to decide that they would use the police to attack me, the Blog and the Blog readers and supporters?

2. Was this not clearly a waste of police time?

3. Was the decision to use the police Amy's own decision or did he do it in conjunction with "others"?

4. If so, who were those "others"?

5. Why did it take the PPS 10 months and 14 days to arrive at a decision that was expected to be made in 14 days?

6. Was anyone attempting to influence the PPS on the matter?

All in all the whole matter was a petty attempt by Amy and others to silence this Blog and to use the civil authorities to do it for them.

Amy - not your best moment!

  1. That must have been stressful Pat. I mean that sincerely. Who wants the police rapping at their door? I even get nervous when driving under the speed limit and there's a police car behind.

More Amy's line to invite the PSNI to investigate Frs Coyle & McCamley, and further back, the former Archbishop of Armagh's role in the Fr Brendan Smyth case.

  2. I'd send the Guards in to check the computer and mobile phone records of the Maynooth community. Bad news for you all. Deleting or restoring to factory settings is nothing to the cops.

    1. I'd say President Fanny has already done that in Maynooth to see who has been looking at +Pat's blog and posting comments on it! He spent most of last year preaching about seminarians following blogs and threatening to sue anyone who brought the seminary into disrepute!

He obviously didn't see the irony there - namely that he, along with Amy and Co., had done the finest job of bringing Maynooth into disrepute!

    2. This Maynooth check will have been concluded before decision was made. The Gardai are not particularly interested in the efficiency of the priestly formation process. They stick to the matter in hand. Was a law of the land broken, yes or no. The behaviour and websites visited may be in moral terms, disgraceful but did it break the law? If it didn't, then there is no case to even begin to pursue.

      Delete
    3. What would be the point of that? The Gardai don't randomly invade anyone's privacy unless they have a specific investigative reason based on reasonable suspicion of law breaking.

    4. In my post at 01:11 I was not referring to the Gardai checking Maynooth's computers, phones, etc, but rather that President Fanny would do his best to track his seminarians' following of certain blogs. Obviously the Gardai are not going to check computer and phone records unless they suspect criminal activity.

The President has used so many of his homilies and rector's talks over the past year to warn seminarians against following, or commenting on, Pat's blog. I was hinting that, from the sound of things, President Fanny would stop at nothing to find out who has been talking to Pat.

    1. Bishop Martin will already have informed the higher authorities. This is a protection for him in case it had been decided by the police to proceed further to Court etc and also in case it re-ooens in future or there was an Appeal. So don't worry about the reporting aspect.

  4. Many readers will have forgotten the comment in question. Perhaps you could consider posting it again. It might help show just how ?????? Amy & Co are.

  8. The investigation of cases is painfully slow for a few reasons, the main one usually being that so many cases come in at once that the files pile up waiting their turn for attention.
Sometimes the police and others appointed by them wish to continue to gather evidence to substantiate the claim. Sometimes what they consider to be a key bit of evidence is missing.

Thurdly, sometimes a key witness is out of the country or ill or otherwise unavailable. We often describe it as "getting all the ducks in a row 'before taking an informed decision. I hope this helps to explain frustrating delays.

  9. Oh for goodness sake! Why doesn't Amy grow a pair, sort out his Portion of the People of God i.e., the loonies among its clergy and if he has an issue with a blog posting, answer it with a comment? Maybe he was grasping at the apparently forlorn hope that one set of uniforms will do the dirty work for another. Those days seem to be over Amy, sweetheart.

    1. Or perhaps AB Martin was trying to adhere to the new advice regarding cases that may need to be reported to the police.. "Always act soon.. It is not appropriate to procrastinate.."

  10. How much is Amy paying that Aidan Gordon clown? What a waste of laypeoples money.

Every attempt to shut you down has failed miserably Pat! They can't stand the fact that the truth is heard here.

I agree with 23:44 that the Guards should be sent in to check Maynooths computers and phones. I can tell you now that the place would be shut down immediately if that happened.

    1. Why would there be reason to shut Maynooth down, poster above 7.03?
This was your allegation. Please give your reasons.

    2. As all the seminarians and priests in Maynooth were adults engaging in consensual sex the Garda would have no role.

To date we have no evidence that minors were involved in any way?

      Delete
    3. That is correct.
      Leave it alone now.

    4. In the past Hugh Connolly used to trace emails so as to identify whistle-blowers. He would then remove the whistle blowers from seminary. I experienced that fist hand.

There is no reason to believe that the same cannot happen again if the authorities in Maynooth want to chase something up.

Dermot Farrell also threw out a seminarian for not disclosing his bank statement (I acknowledge the flaw here that I'm taking that seminarian at his word). But the principle remains that a seminarian exists in seminary at the whim of the president; If Fanny wants seminarians to surrender their laptops and smartphones for scrutiny then he can ask for these on threat of removal. And he can act on that threat.

    5. He can do.. He has done.

    6. It was easy for Hugh as President of the Pontifical College to access the NUIM & St Pat's email server in order to catch the whistleblowers.

Where is Hugh now though? In an absolute state of disgrace! What goes around comes around Hughie Boy. Fanny is next.

  11. Glad it's sorted Pat. You are obviously not a great risk which maybe why PSNI took their time. Keep up the good work. Will Amy now apologise😀

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No.. It is pressure of sheer volume of files that causes legal delays. That, and gathering further evidence to strengthen a potential successful outcome.

      Delete
    2. It is unlikely that AB Martin will apologise but I have no way of knowing whether he would or not.
He may not at all feel that Pat was innocent and that he--AB Martin - - has any reason to apologise. The case didn't go to court at this time because of present lack of evidence to ensure a successful outcome. He has had to accept that and think where to go from here... It happens in situations here day and daily.

  12. Yes pat. I agree. Repost the “offending” article now that you are confident that the feeble attempts of the Ab of Armagh to bring down the full panoply of the law and weight of the criminal justice system has failed - miserably !

    1. The case didn't "fail.
      It was never"tried".
      There's a big difference.
There are some different reasons for deciding not to proceed at any particular time.
Some of the posters have alluded to them a little..

    3. Pat,are we meant to take seriously all this innuendo, horrible name calling and offensive caricaturing? I cannot reconcile this immature, gossipy, childish behaviour with the gospel of Christ. Why are you hounding after these men? One day you are all holy and visiinary in founding the Little Bros; then you behave in a nasty, devilish manner. Very contradictory and suspect behaviour.

  14. Pat, the Dublin appointments have been circulated for quite some time. GB is no longer relevant, sadly for him. But life is cruel. I think we should leave him to rebuild his life. Your commentary essentially is about seeking TRUTH but it should always be sought by verifiable facts and not through innuendo, smear and abusive caricaturing. Yes, Pat, you have suffered but you will inspire even more if you build on the principles of justice, fairness, integrity and truth.

    1. Thank you for your comment and advice.

MB is still a Dublin "cleric".

I do wish him well and think that the pain he has suffered is regrettable but will eventually have helped him on a way of authenticity and happiness.

I also feel he was used by others - which is not nice.

The "fear" among concerned people is that Diarmuid Martin is playing games and has a backdoor plan?

    2. He has a backdoor plan alright.

    3. Your concern sounds genuine but rings hollow in the light of the mud raking you engaged in about Bray.
If you mean by ‘concerned people’ Dublin clergy, there’s no fear at all as all know about the new uniform the deacon has exchanged for the old.

I’d call that comment further mud raking.

    4. Diocesan Appointments don’t mention transitional deacons. We won’t see MB either way unless he was made a permanent deacon.

    6. Sorry +Pat. I mean we won’t see his name listed unless he was a permanent deacon or ordained to the priesthood. The directory doesn’t list transitional deacons. I believe that’s the last stage he reached in formation.
