BISHOPS DROPPING THEIR PANTS!

IN THE PAST FEW DAYS A BLOG READER SUBMITTED THE FOLLOWING TALE TO ME. HE NAMED THE BISHOP INVOLVED. AT PRESENT I AM NOT WILLING TO NAME THIS BISHOP OR INDEED SAY WHETHER HE WAS FROM IRELAND OR ENGLAND. HOWEVER, HE IS A LIVING - AND NOT DECEASED BISHOP AND HAS HAD A REPUTATION FOR SOME TIME FOR BEING OF "THE ANTIQUE DISPOSITION".

"A good friend of mine was in a certain gay establishment in Waterloo in London last May.

He claims to have seen a man he recognized as a Roman Catholic bishop wearing nothing but a towel.

My friend was in the "receptive position" and he attracted the attention of this episcopal gentleman.

The episcopal gentleman was keen to poke him with his "crozier" - or indeed give him a few pokes".

----------------------------------------------

THERE IS ANOTHER STORY, A LITTLE OLDER, KNOWN TO SOME BISHOPS AND CLERGY AND EVEN A FEW JOURNALISTS OF ANOTHER ROMAN CATHOLIC BISHOP FROM THE IRISH/ENGLISH REGION AND STILL LIVING. THE IDENTITY OF THIS BISHOP IS ALSO KNOWN TO THIS BLOG AUTHOR - AS ARE THE DETAILS OF WHICH POLITICIANS WERE INVOLVED AND WHICH CABINET MEETING THE MATTER WAS DISCUSSED AT.

"A certain episcopal gentleman was visiting London and this bishop had a liking for younger slim men and teenagers.

He met a rent boy on a London Street and they agreed to adjourn to the gent's toilet in a nearby train station and to conduct their business in a cubicle. There is no suggestion that the teenager was a "minor".

However their presence in the cubicle around the attention of the British Transport Police who forced the door open and caught His Lordship and the young man in flagrantre.

I do not know what happened the young man but His Lordship was taken to a police station and charged and later appeared in a Greater London court under the title: "Mr" and was fined.

For various reasons politicians became involved and the incident was discussed briefly at a government cabinet meeting.

---------------------------------------------------------

PAT SAYS:

As Blog readers will have noticed over the months and years it is not only seminarians and priests - but also bishops who have been caught in embarrassing situations.

The presence of well known and actively gay cardinals, archbishops and bishop - as well as clergy - is fact.

We, here in these islands, had the well-known case of Cardinal Keith O'Brien of Scotland.

Not so long ago there was the case of the Polish archbishop nuncio misbehaving with boys in the Dominican Republic.

There was the case of Cardinal Groer of Vianna.

There have been some very high profile cases of the  "strange goings on" of bishops and archbishops in the USA.

We can be quite assured that most cases are not known about but still dark secrets in the Vatican and national churches.

This will have all contributed to the homosexualization of the priesthood that we have often discussed in this Blog.

It will have also contributed to bishops choosing gay men as seminarians and bishops protecting gay seminarians when they get into trouble in the seminaries.

PS: THERE WILL BE PEOPLE READING THIS WHO KNOW THE IDENTITY OF THE TWO BISHOP MENTIONED ABOVE!!!

    2. Funny, you mention a bridge. The establishment in question is under a series of bridges, but no water. They form part of the railway viaduct, leading into Waterloo station and the sauna is called, appropriately enough, the Pleasuredome, open 24hrs a day. His Lordship was seen there very late, or very early, depending on which way you see it after midnight, on Tuesday, 30 May, Wed. 31 May am.
Hope he had some fun, as it wasn't a busy night, I hear.
Pat, you're a howl, but I'm coming to understand how you work and I appreciate it. I'm the one who provided you with this nugget on dear Seamus a few days ago. I thought you had ignored it. Well, my amazement, to open your blog today. I'm always a bit scared of those bastards being able to track blog entries and that's why I want to protect my identity. I know they can't do it legally, but the law never stopped their Lordships from getting well-connected friends to do anything. Lots more where the Seamus nugget came from. Glad he's not dead, but who was stirring with the premature announcement of his death? There's lots more on the bishops and their sexual antics, but you'd need the right priest being willing to spill the beans. In fact, there's a bit of a gay clicque there, some of its members going back to their Irish College days in Rome and the famous villa in Formia. Michael Smith knows a thing or two about that place, as does emeritus Kerry, Bill Murphy and old Herlihy of Ferns had a role there, oh yes, he was rector at the time (very few alive to tell tales about him, lol). Diarmuid of Dublin ... stories about him too... a lost wallet in Florence, a car, and more, a bit along the lines of your bishop in the toilets in London and British Transport Police.
I don't want to go heavy on the Ossory man because he does suffer depression and has had other health issues and as far as I know is not the worst of the pack. Well, time to sleep. What a laugh you gave me tonight when I opened the blog! Keep it up. The sooner the stable is cleared of all the shit, the better for all of us. Maybe then, we can begin to build something new and authentic.

At this stage I have to say Pat that I am becoming increasingly concerned with your almost exclusive focus on sexuality, and in particular, on matters of gay propensity.
I do agree with your concerns about the hypocrisy within the RC church, and its apparently increasing victimisation of hetrosexual or celibate seminarians and clerics. But having said that, while agreeing this issue needs addressing, I have become increasingly bored with what seems like your exclusive focus on sexual practices of the RC clergy.
And I have to say this is in addition to my irritation at the many continual tit for tat inane, inconsequential and scarcely intelligible comments.
It seems that a lot of your former interesting contributors have been absent for a while, and I wonder if they, like me, have wondered if it's worthwhile continuing making further comments.

    6. Who the flip says Groer was vindicated in death? What nonsense! There was a Vatican appointed apostolic visitation to Austria that dug up all the dirt on him, but it's been kept quiet. The problem with Groer was that everyone knew he should never have been appointed, but that twit who is now in Krakow, Stanislaw Dwiswz, told JP2 that all the stuff about Groer was lies put out by the 'enemies of the church' and ould JP believed him at the time. Well, it bit them later. You need to get some Austrian Benedictines talking. They'll tell you about Groer.

  10. MMM, 0.49: like you I'm also concerned with the exclusive obsession on matters sexual which has almost turned this blog into a pornographic site. The comments from "Pat says" indicate his own pathological, unhealthy addiction to the sexual misdemeanours of others, habitually giving opportunity to those of low intelligence to make cheap, snide, offensive and deranged comments. Pat encourages this approach and narrative. It has become stale, irritating and repetitive at this stage. The intelligent contributors are abandoning this blog. Now it's dominated as you say by a continuous band of inane people making inconsequential and scarcely intelligent comments. Mockery, ridicule, gossip and innuendo are the acceptable norm. The casualties are TRUTH and JUSTICE. For a long time I, as a Priest, have challenged Pat to broaden his horizon and find the good news stories but that seems out of his nasty agenda. Criticism of Church wrongdoing and hypocrisy will be a life long mission for all of us but I try to maintain my dignity and authentic humanity in the mess and do the best I can. I live within my broken and flawed humanity and I would never seek to prove myself a better person by comparing myself with the failings/sins of others. MMM, while we may view life very differently, you always make very sensible and reasoned arguments and your comments are very challenging. This cannot be said of the majority of comments of recent times. The blog as directed by Pat, sadly, is a forum for the outpouring of pousonous, hate filled words against clerics particularly with little regard for verifiable evidence to support accusations and unfair judgments. There is nothing remotely "sacred" to the memory of Jesus contained in the nastiness of this blog. It has become a shrine to Pat's over obsessive and questionable need for sexual prose. Thank you MMM for your challenging points always.

The RC Institution is in trouble because of a relatively small number of BIG issues.

    1. The abuse of power.

    2. Financial corruption.

    3. Sexual hypocrisy and double standards.

    4. The homosexualuzation of the priesthood/episcopate.

    5. The failure to present and live the eternal Gospel in a way relevant to modern men and women.

    1. Pat, at this stage, you're in overdrive, repeating old stories that have flown under the bridge a long time ago. Your analysis has been stated so tiresomely. If you are the great "prophet" and feel Divinely called, why don't we see the Hill of Larne shining with the light of radical living with multitudes of people listening to the great "One" announcing the day of liberation. The truth is, you, Pat, do not have the right spiritual disposition, qualities or virtues to bring about a radical shift of true gospel living. After 35 years you're still on the same page. In my almost 40 years of priestly ministry, I've achieved so much with God's grace, more than I ever thought possible. All done with grace, kindness, generosity and struggle but with deep gratitude to God for his blessings. What matters most to me is caring for the space given to me by my Bishop. And what a privilege it is to see amazing goodness and love in action. No negativity, no nastiness, no disrespect but affirmation and enciuragement, always believing in the God given dignity of every person. For me, this is the way we are called to be.

      Delete
    2. I think I agree with you to a certain extent on all of these things and it’s right for issues to be brought out and discussed. For instance, whilst one can view an individual priest’s struggles with their sexuality (straight or gay) with compassion and even an occasional lapse in the context of a loving relationship. But some of the alleged behaviour of Maynooth seminarians does not seem to indicate that the priesthood is right for them. Equally, it’s right to expose damaging hypocrisy like that of Scots cardinal Keith O’Brien.

What I find more challenging on here is some of the homophobic language which would not be tolerable if it related to race or even gender. Corporal Jones jokes might be funny but to me they take on an edge here. And there is I think a difference between pointing out issues and taking a salacious pleasure in the alleged wrongdoing of others. We all like a gossip at times, but it can be hurtful and damaging.

I value this blog but I do think we all just need to think for a second before we press “publish” and think what we are adding either to the debate or the discussion of how we make things better.

      Delete
    3. Keith O’Brien’s hypocrisy has been well established. A dominican priest was reported as giving a homily in Dublin two to three years ago in which he referred to people with a same-sex attraction as intrinsically disordered. O’Brien spoke in similar terms.

      Delete
    4. Card O’Brien is living in retirement and is now in very failing health and being cared for. He needs our prayers and I know he prays for us and for those he has hurt. What more can he do? It is our Christian duty to forgive him.

      Delete
    5. Yes, we can forgive Cardinal O’Brien and pray that he will have a peaceful end to his life but for those whom he hurt, either in deed or more widely with his words, forgetting is much harder.

I posted earlier that we all need to think before we speak or post, being aware of the human dignity of our fellow humans and where they are in their lives. My hope is that all those in public life will learn from what happened with Cardinal O’Brien. Ultimately we all have feet of clay; the sooner we realise that, the quicker we can learn to feel a more genuine compassion for others and their frailties.

As Our Lord said in the Sermon in the Mount, though I’m sure I don’t quote entirely verbatim, “Blessed are those who show mercy, for they shall receive mercy”. Though I fail frequently, I try to keep this in mind when I deal with others.

One of Fr Lee's big errors in Galway was to go walking that beach in Salthill or Barna late at night. Pity he didn't ask a bishop other than Drennan for advice and he'd have been told to go to Manchester! Well, they sent him there anyway, but not for sex, but sex therapy at that place, St Lukes?

A very simple example would be when a person feels terror and fear (mental reaction). The body reacts by releasing hormones which immediately pour into the bloodstream (adrenalin and or histamine) and a blood test shows up the quantity present(physical reaction with direct link)

  23. These bishops need to be called out, even publicly, should they prove unwilling to change their behaviour. Such men are poor, even spiritually dangerous, shepherds who misserve their flocks. Spiritual lives are at stake here, and Catholics need to know the moral calibre of their so-called 'leaders'.

Those who, for whatever reason, are calling today on Bishop Pat to desist from publishing too many exposés of such men miss the point of the Spiritual Works of Mercy. However, our conduct, no matter how outwardly good, is rendered right or wrong by its motive: it is why examination of the reasons for personal conduct is so important. We need to be satisfied that our motives are good, in other words, 'that our hearts are in the right place'. They must always be motivated by love, and desire justice tempered with mercy.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Magna, you have some audacity to lecture others about having " their hearts in the right place" and that they must always be motivated by "love and desire justice, tempered by mercy". Absolutely correct as a prerequisite for leaders and shepherds but why don't you practice what you preach instead of subjecting contributors to your nasty, vile, poisonous, hate filled rants. You encourage and promote the worse in human beings by your distasteful, disrespectful and racist language. So, look into your own "soulless" psyche!
