RASHARKIN MYSTERY EXPLANATION

JOHN MURRAY PP RASHARKIN

ON A RECENT HOLY THURSDAY THE BISHOP OF DOWN AND CONNOR AND THE DIOCESAN CHANCELLOR TOOK THE UNPRECEDENTED STEP OF DRIVING TO A COUNTRY PARISH AND GIVING THE RESIDENT PP A FEW HOURS TO PACK UP AND LEAVE!

NOEL TREANOR

That parish priest was Father John Murray and his visitors were Bishop Noel Treanor and Father Eugene O'Hagan one of THE PRIESTS.

EUGENE O'HAGAN

The parish was Rasharkin in County Antrim.

At the time many Rasharkin parishioners were bewildered and upset and friends of Father Murray were angry.

There was no statement from Bishop Treanor or the Diocese of Down and Connor at the time and Father Murray was only months away from normal retirement.

On the day in question, Father Murray and a companion had to flee to Murray family members in Castlewellan in County Down.

Within a few days, Father Murray and a companion had left the country and were enjoying Father Murray's apartment in Tenerife.

Since then the trail has gone quiet.

However, the Blog can today reveal that the incident involved a safeguarding issue.

We can further reveal that since then, Bishop Treanor has purchased a new build property for Father Murray in Newcastle in County Down.

Bishop Treanor is also paying Father Murray a monthly salary and is also paying all his domestic bills.

In the meantime, Father Murray is thoroughly enjoying his Newcastle - Tenerife commute.

For various important reasons, The Blog cannot say any more at this stage.

When we can we will keep you up to date.

couldn't care less. He's an elderly man in retirement. Good luck to him I say.

    1. Elderly man in retirement?? You must of missed the bit about a safeguarding issue. There is enough cover ups the parishioners deserve a full explanation

  3. Should Fr Murray not get a job in N Ireland if possible and then pay his own bills?

    1. Close to retirement... he will ave his pension soon. As a priest in retirement he is entitled to be housed and provided for like any other retired priest. That is part of the terms and conditions of a priests ministry.

  4. Well I hope that puts paid to the usual comments we hear about Bishop Treanor.. "He knows but he is turning a blind eye.."
    Clearly not in this case,guys!

    1. The Blog gets it wrong as to Bishops sometimes. NO Bishop would turn a blind eye it is that they must get proof because of Canon Law.

And furthermore Archbishop's and Bishop's know now the rules have changed since last October and Pope Francis can get rid of Bishop's.

    6. Watching spotlight atm and i think that makes it very clear that some bishops and clergy have and still do turn a blind eye. Is bishop Treanor paying these wages as hush money to John Murray who may know of many cover ups perhaps or has he bought him a house to keep him here to face the consequences for any actions he may have 'performed'

  5. So once again Newcastle becomes the dumpling ground for another reject. We already have more than one ex clerical convicted abuser, thank you, Treanor! This is a seaside town popular with young families particularly in summer and the beach is now becoming more like a place of prying eyes where it's not just the waves we have to keep on eye on when we are concerned about the safety our young bathers! Does Treanor think the sea air makes these people reform overnight?

    3. Convicted paedophile ex priest Danny Curran wasn’t dumped in Newcastle - he is a native of the place. That’s why he lives there and,
no doubt, as a sex offender, he is monitored by the PSNI.

Are there any other sex offender ex clerics “dumped” in the “dumpling” (sic Lol) town of Newcastle, that you are aware of?

Or do you just enjoy the view from up there on your high horse?

    1. I am so sorry 01:44, but, if you followed yesterday's blog, you'll know that my parents have, typically, fallen out with each other. As they have only two bedrooms in their home (one of them mine), I have had to move out, so that they can sleep separately; there is, I'm afraid, no room for you, and your many cameras.

I have had to find other accomodation, at extremely short notice, and am in fact posting this comment from my new address, 1 The Under the Arches, Skid Row.

I hope you enjoy our fair and green land. (Well, mostly green: there are historical red swathes here and there where we have liberally spilt one another's blood.)

You'd be very welcome in my parents' spare room. It has been fumigated after the squatter who broke in there was evicted by the police. He kept muttering something about mummy and daddy. It's terrible they let them live like that.

  10. Pat Buckley, your facts are misleading, wrong and false. This is not a safeguarding issue and Bishop Treanor did not go to Rasharkin to evict Fr Murray. Do you honestly think a Bishop would evict someone and then buy them a house - are you really that gullible and foolish? Check your facts and get them straight before printing utter nonsense. I suspect this won’t get posted anyhow because you never post something that corrects you.

I have information that I cannot reveal just now.

When it is revealed you will have egg all over your face.

      Stop covering up!

    2. Why do you always publish things back up with phrases like, names to be revealed, facts to be revealed, details to be revealed... and nothing is ever revealed afterwards. The damage is done, but the justification never follows.

      Delete
    3. I think you will find you are wrong yourself. Bishop Treanor did arrive at the parochial house and fr Murray was never seen in the area again. Not sure about the safeguarding aspect but can state he was a law unto himself and arrogant with it

      Delete
  11. Miss Marple thinks that Fr Murray had already arranged an imminent holiday and so informed Bishop Treanor as a matter of courtesy. This prompted the bishop to visit him --catch him in person before he left--to clear up the fairly urgent matter of where he would live after his upcoming retirement in May. The house in Newcastle was discussed and the final details agreed upon. It's so easy to make wrong deductions...

    8. (In a manner of speaking) the poster has phrased his/her sentence to use "courtesy call" as a combined noun. It is an accepted double, integrated into the language through frequent usage in certain professions and contexts eg

I know what the noun 'courtesy means,' how it functions in the phrase 'courtesy call' and what the sense of the post is.

I'm referring to the irony in the sentence at 14:43 with its smug advice to 'read more carefully,' and its bandying about of the word 'careless,' while its author, in writing, called 'courtesy' an adjective.
