JOHN MC AREAVEY |
Last night I received the following message from a Dromore priest:
"DROMORE CLERGY RECEIVED A LETTER TODAY ( MID AFTERNOON IN RURAL PARTS ) NOT TO SPEAK TO THE MEDIA RE TUESDAY NIGHT'S SPOTLIGHT PROGRAMME ON MALACHY FINNEGAN - AND MORE IMPORTANTLY NOT TO SPEAK TO PAT BUCKLEY ABOUT IT AND TO REFER EVERYTHING TO PATRICIA CARVILLE.
SO MUCH FOR TRANSPARENCY"

Why does John McAreavey not want any of his priests speaking to the media or to me on this Blog about the Father Malachy Finnegan abuse case?
I thought he had made it clear that he was sorry for hiding things in the past and that he was going to be 100% transparent from now on?
Was that statement of his true or was it just a "church politics" statement and another attempt to cover up?
Are there things that priests in Dromore know about the Father Finnegan case, Bishop McAreavey, other cases or child safeguarding in the diocese that John McAreavey does not want appearing in the media or on this Blog?
What is he seeking to hide?
After the Finnegan disaster is it not VITAL that McAreavey and Co come clean and tell us all there is to know?
AND ANOTHER THING?
I thought that Patricia Carville and people like her who are being paid £90,000 a year are there to protect children and vulnerable adults???
They are not there to protect bishop reputations. Are they?
They are not there to handle episcopal and diocesan PR. Is that not the job of the diocesan press officer?
You could write to Ms Carville for clarification to get an answer to your question I suppose..
ReplyDelete... or Mr Long!
DeleteIs this prescription infringing priests’ rights?
DeleteDoes McA have the moral authority to sell it and the clout to enforce it?
Are priests obliged to abide by it?
Just some opening questions for a canon lawer to consider.
If the priests of Dromore had any moral gumption, any sense of righteousness, they would ignore McAreavey entirely and report, publicly and openly, this injustice, and transparent attempt at stage management/damage limitation and then dissociate themselves from it and their bishop. Yes, boys: rebel OPENLY against these episcopal charlatans. But you wont, for you priests are charlatans, too. No wonder I have such a dim view of Roman Catholic priesthood and institutional Roman Catholicism, because it produces not fools for Christ, but absolute, self-serving cowards. And it always has, with few exceptions.
DeleteI'm thinking of changing my Grindr profile name to Mr Long.
DeleteOne Dromore seminarian in particular always had his noses stuck in everyone else's business. And his ass in other's beds. Especially during ordinations. A priest now of course. The level of hypocrisy in that diocese doesn't surprise me at all. Ps: Always frond Fr McAreavey a nice man when he was in Maynooth.
ReplyDeleteWell if he was in maynooth! Was he not doing what he should have been doing??...being nice can meanbeing lazy...if you in charge there are alway challenges ..so it appears he wasn’t challenged enough to keep the place cleaned out of misfits
DeleteMcAreavey’s main weaknesses, now and always, are his laziness, lack of ability and ineptitude. He is also given somewhat to self pity.
Delete01.15 You describe McAreavey as “a nice man”. That may be so. If you go back to the original Latin for “nice” it means “stupid” person. Enough said.
DeleteDon't worry poster@ 13.53 - - - - I doubt if many people will describe you as "nice" !
Delete@01:15 Is he the same who used to call to Foxrock for a b.j. In the morning before class to fortify himself for the day ahead?
Delete13:53 is learned, like moi.😆
DeleteFoxrock was a corridor next to the rooms of thr Senior Dean of Maynooth.
DeleteIt was named after that posh Dublin suburb because the students were better behaved as they were adjacent to the rooms of the Senior Dean.
Also students of a certain disposition used to desperately seek accommodation there.
DeleteThey saw themselves as a cut above the rest of plebs/sems.
Referring to it and it’s occupants, it was sometimes said: “Foxrock, where their shite doesn’t smell”.
You lived there, Mags, eh? lol
I don’t think your explanation is correct - at least.not according to anything I’ve heard or known. The corridor was slightly more salubrious than the rest of Mary’s, being on the first floor and running only half the length of the building. Hence its more elitist reputation. Furthermore it’s served at one end by a rather nice staircase.
DeleteThe name had nothing to do with the behaviour of its residents who tended to be IV Divines.
The ceilings were higher than upstairs, there was full power in the rooms so you could boil a kettle and have an electric heater and you could use the Senior Dean's private staircase down to the cloisters.
DeleteIn my time in Maynooth the St Mary's building was only for II, III and IV Divines, though it wasn't big enough and the overflow lived in Middle Pats.
DeleteSome of the Foxrock guys had televisions and fridges, contrary to the Rule. I still have my copy of the Rule. I must send it to Pat, it's interesting reading.
Is Foxrock now the infirmary or is it in what used to be called the Castleknock corridor? The best named bit was Inner Sanctum on the top floor of Marys.
DeleteInner Sanctum and Top and Pats used to appear on the internal telephone directory, as did Bottom New House. Little did we we know why they were called that.
Delete13:13 Your imagination is running away with you. Bottom, middle and top, all inocuous names, were excellent descriptors of the first, second and third floors of a four storey building, or, in the case of a two storey building such as Loftus, the first and last term referred to each floor.
DeleteThose were the days!
Explain Middle Loftus then.
DeleteThis stinks
ReplyDeleteExcellent article Bishop Pat. How do you get this info
ReplyDeleteReally do you expect him to tell you????
DeleteAs an alternative do read his blog.
Will an additional rogues' gallery now be necessary for diocesan officials and staff members, so readers can match names with a mugshot? I would like that.
ReplyDelete"Curiouser and curiouser!” Cried Alice (she was so much surprised, that for the moment she quite forgot how to speak good English).'
ReplyDeleteTransparency does not mean a free-for-all feeding frenzy for press hyenas.
ReplyDeleteOh dear...you are a nasty priest...aren’t you?
DeletePress hyenas....!!!'!!!!!!!
Looks like Dromore is running scared !!
ReplyDeletehttps://media1.tenor.com/images/ac615c234f538130ab35e3cc669b409a/tenor.gif?itemid=5725895
DeleteLOL... but surely more like this with that lot.
Deletehttps://media.tenor.com/images/3d0f2ee2a6b40f97b0135d91cd041672/tenor.gif
Dromore Diocese is not in the least "scared"!
DeleteWhat are we supposed to be scared of? We are not bothered by what happens... News lasts for five minutes...
Pat I believe you should send this letter to the press. When I got my laicisation (rubbish) it said the same thing. I sent it to the Irish Indo. These things need fresh air and not tucking under episcopal soutannes
ReplyDeleteI got Laicized from Diaconate Sean and it had similar in the paperwork.
ReplyDeleteH H You are still sacramentaly a Deacon if you ever wanted to follow it up outside R C Church. What got me was they said I could not minister outside R C Church Bulls*it
DeleteDis aliter visum!
DeleteI suppose you also received a large settlement. Is this why you're happy.
Delete“... he was going to be 100% transparent from now on?”
ReplyDeleteYeah. He’s full of transparency... transparent hypocrisy.
It is an interesting topic for debate though - - the balance that we as citizens should be entitled to... transparency versus every person's right to personal privacy.
DeleteYes, everyone has to respect other people's right to personal privacy. The Data Protection Act ensures that our work places and any organisations to which we belong are not at liberty to dislose our personal details.
DeleteBishops lead public lives and, in some extreme cases, this can also include public lavatories.
DeleteNo person is excluded from the need and right to appropriate personal privacy.
DeleteMcAreavy is afraid of the press and publicity. He has a history of it and a history of hiding from the press... any yet he took a public office within the Church.
ReplyDeleteHe has allowed his personal fears over take his responsibilities. A weak, terrified leader is no leader at all.
Pat, if the bishop is not asking his priests to sin or to promote sin, are his priests not expected to do what he says? The blog here, like the media, is not the Transparency Dept, but is often polarising and merciless to clergy. So perhaps the bishop in this case is genuinely saving his priests from even more stress by his recommendation. Regarding the diocesan pay off money, I've often thought that people donating to a charity should be allowed to say what activities their money should go to and what activities they do not want to fund.
ReplyDeleteIf they are forbidden to speak the truth so that a situation can be misunderstood (and, perhaps, a personal or other injustice ensue) then they are being expected to engage in 'mental reservation', a morally questionable exercise, not least because, once exposed, it begins to break down trust.
DeleteInteresting short article on the negativity of so much news today. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/feb/17/steven-pinker-media-negative-news
ReplyDeleteAn excellent article in the BelTel by Malachi O'Doherty.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/opinion/news-analysis/why-is-the-church-still-so-slow-to-tackle-cases-of-clerical-sex-abuse-36583722.html
Malachi O'Doherty is a gay ex-Catholic who yet opines on Church matters for £s
Delete'Gay'! Malachi O'Doherty gay?!
DeleteSo what?!
Malachi O’Doherty is not gay. You twat.
DeleteMalachi is a total babe magnet, especially when he's on his bike.
Deleteno such statement was made. your being fooled once again. Please check your sources or contact the Diocesan office.
ReplyDeleteWhy contact the diocesan office when they have lied in the past -fool.
Delete"... You're being fooled."
Delete16:20 “...Ewer being fuelled.”
DeleteCan you get a copy of the letter, Pat? Is it verifiable that such a letter was sent and that your blog was specifically mentioned? If this is true, Dromore is running scared. But, guess what, the unstoppable train is coming down the tracks, John. It is widely believed that there are indeed other stories about Dromore and St Colman’s. The fire is too much started now to try stamping it out with pathetic letters “warning” clergy. What planet does McAreavey, Carville and co inhabit? Dromore is a mess. Has been for years. That Carville woman is paid huge sums of money and she came over as utterly useless in the BBC Spotlight.
ReplyDeleteIt's bound to escalate after Spotlight.
DeleteThat is not as likely as you think....Issues can be aired on the Spotlight. Once the programme is over, we move on to engage with the next issue on the horizon . Last week's programme is old news . It's over.
DeleteMore fool you. People have long memories you eejit
DeleteYou can get as agitated as you like @ 23.092--It doesn't bother me in the slightest!
DeleteBut more importantly it does not change the facts.
You would be hard pressed to find someone who could describe who was on a Spotlight programme from even as recently as three weeks ago and outline what the programme had to say about that week's issue. The world moves on and new issues appear as poster @ 16.27 said.
Delete@ 23.09
DeleteMaybe you too, need to learn how to move on (like poster @ 16.27)
There are lots of interesting new things happening but you sound very stuck in the mud
The Spotlight programme is old news, the story wasn't taken up by the rest of the media because, sadly, this is so commonplace that it no longer makes headlines. These lecherous priests have killed off the Church in Ireland. Once the old Massgoers die it's game over.
DeleteBishop of Dromore John McAreavey said victims’ testimony made him realise funeral decision ‘was the wrong one’.
ReplyDeleteBloody liar. More like the impending BBC Spotlight programme suddenly made him realise decision “was the wrong one”.
These bishops must think everybody is stupid.
“... and more importantly not to speak to Pat Buckley about it.”
ReplyDeleteAfter Maynooth, it now seems the future of Dromore is also in +Pat’s gift.
If you believe everything you read...
Delete+Pat's sources seem to be pretty reliable up till now. The question is whether the bishop, in this case Pat, will decide to hasten the demise of Dromore.
DeleteYou think Pat's sources are "pretty reliable !!
DeleteWhat about those posters who fabricate a " crisis" when their addiction for scandal is not being fed fast enough by the blog? It is so obvious to many of the rest of us
Yes. Including killing of a bishop who is very much alive.
DeleteI think you'll find that Archbishop McQuaid died years ago.
DeleteWhat’s strange is that nobody from the Bishop’s Palace in Newry is denying this. You probably haven’t been in Dromore Pat but it’s a small entity. It’s a very small Diocese, do away with it. I also hear McAreavy is being advised by his close friend Sean Brady.
ReplyDeleteOh, I've been in Dromore ok!
Delete"I also hear McAreavy is being advised by his close friend Sean Brady."
DeletePeeps with similar appearance, likes, or behaviour.
Yes, and the advice will be to ignore all gossip and distractions and continue in his work..
Delete... in whitewashing.
DeletePatricia Carville also sits on the CCMS, she makes a lot of money being a pip squeak for the Catholic Church. Those that work with her can tell a very different story.
ReplyDelete@ 14.38
ReplyDeleteName one person who told "a very different story "about Patricia Carville. Even one...
I can name three about Patricia Carville and more - what about you?
Delete@ 22.57.
DeletePlease don't print lies!
"I can name three.." Really?
But you haven't, have you?
Because you cannot...
@22:57, go on. Name them. I dare ya.
DeleteWonder what those stout RUC/PSNI Protestant policemen felt about interviewing bishops and priests about the usual?
ReplyDeleteIn the past, probably told to give them a 'pass', for the good of inter-tribal harmony. Or some such.
DeleteI wouldn’t bother your head Magna about the RUC, you said on a recent blog that you wanted to be part of the UK and you were proud to be British. For Gods sake man make up your mind.
DeleteAll part of the day's work for the PSNI
ReplyDeleteNo different from any other person interviewed. No need to get goggleyed.. We see it all.....
You 'see it all'? Are you? Can you be? I mean: are you GOD?!!!!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, duckie, it's the other way round. God can't possibly be a judge, teacher, policeman or father. But humans can't maintain the conception of God without images so project these things on her.
DeleteI mean, you yourself must think in God-like terms when you're out ticketing cars, surely.
No response is necessay to stupid and ignorant posters. So my advice to @ 20.24 is to ignore and let them jump up and down and rant on (It will amuse us, if nothing else..! Lol)
DeleteSilly ass.. Magna Blue.. Always ranting about something. (Ignore him, folks LOL)
DeleteCatch up ,Magna.. You are sounding pretty clueless at the moment..
DeleteLITERALLY, FOR CHRIST'S SAKE: STOP GIVING MONEY TO SUCH SPONGERS AS JOHN MCAREAVEY.
ReplyDeleteFOR CHRIST'S SAKE!!!!!
@ 22.44
DeleteNOYB
@00:32 NOYB
DeleteOh dear, Pat! Patricia Carville - you have opened up a hornets nest. Who is this woman and more importantly what does she earn for being a mouth piece for Bishop McAreavey. We are owed answers about her. Her very name on the blog earlier illicited a very hostile response ( very telling that). We are entitled to know who Patricia Carville is, what’s her salary, who she is employed by?
ReplyDeleteYou already know all about Patricia Carville that you need to.
ReplyDelete
