SEX AS 20TH CENTURY CATHOLIC GALILEO

SOME ENEMIES OF THE BLOG CONSTANTLY COMPLAIN THAT SO MUCH OF THIS BLOG IS ABOUT SEXUAL MATTERS.

That is intended and not accidental or caused by a perverse approach on my part.

A wise man said that just as the RC Church used sex to control us all for hundreds of years it would be SEX ITSELF that would bring the RC Church down. They said: “Sex will be the Catholic Church’s 20th century Galileo.

There are various abuses in Catholicism – Power, Money and Sex.

But because THEY THEMSELVES placed so much emphasis on sexual morality and led us all to believe that bishops, priests and nuns were 100% pure and so much better than us human mortals – the discovery of the widespread sexual abuse scandals in the clergy and religious have destroyed their reputation in a way they will never recover from.

Nowadays the news is filled with the sexual scandals of the clergy we have seen them for what they are – utter hypocrites.

We have had priests and bishops having sex with women, men and children.

We have had the world wide phenomenon of the sexual abuse by the clergy.

We have seen the priesthood and seminaries as no better than promiscuous saunas.

We have had babies buried in septic tanks.

And we have seen modern Catholics turn their backs on the sexual teachings of the Church on matters like contraception, masturbation, abortion, homosexuality and euthanasia.

We have seen the RC Institution losing its political clout in places like Ireland.

Bishops, priests and nuns are often verbally abused in the street.

Places like Ireland are fast becoming anti clerical.
Catholicism is irrelevant to many people.

And all this decay is the result of the utter decay in Roman Catholicism at every level.

So far from sex being a preoccupation of myself or comment makers on this blog – it is the rod that broke the camel’s back – the back of a wild, wicked and out of control camel.

And many of us say Alleluia to that!

So let the so called defenders of the Church and the clergy ball and cry all they like.

Their days are numbered and places like Ireland will be free of the episcopal and clerical rod.

They trampled on us all for centuries.

Let them now eat up their own medicine!

    1. Why do you waste your time visiting such sites? What they lack in charity, mercy, compassion and understanding, they make up for with moral judgementalism, arrogance, presumptiousness, over-weening self-regard, magisterialism and papalism. They are, in short, institutional Roman Catholicism online, that vile disease that has scourged society worldwide, making a spiritual, moral and psychological wasteland of people's lives and their children's lives, and all the while considering themselves beyond criticism, beyond error, beyond reproach, and above civil law.

They will not see, because they have chosen not to see, such is their faith in themselves and in their laws rather than in Christ himself, who, being love writ large, is the supreme and only law for his followers.

Mother Angelica would have been a fervent, and deeply aggressive, supporter of these sites. This is the woman I once watched on a programme in the television series, Mother Angelica Classics. She was interviewing an American moral theologian and they were discussing capital punishment. The priest commented on the execution of mass murderer, Timothy McVeigh. He said that he had not lost any sleep over McVeigh's death. (Presumably, then, he morally approved, too, the death penalty.) How did Mother Angelica, that paragon of institutional Roman Catholicism, react to this lack of charity and this denial of Christ's command to love of enemy? Why, as you might expect from someone in love with institutional Roman Catholicism rather than Christ: with absolute, and self-condemning, silence.

That programme would have been broadcast into literally millions of Catholic (and non-Catholic) homes globally. Did it teach people the sacredness of every human life, regardless of its sins? No. It taught instead that institutional Roman Catholicism pays lip service to Christ's command to love of neighbour. It taught only arbitrary love of every soul, determined, of course, by magisterialism and by papalism. It gave an intellectual and moral argument and impetus to every pro-abortion movement on the planet. And it silenced the voice of Jesus Christ.

    6. So, 18:43, her silence in face of such lack of charity is fine by you. Would Jesus have done likewise? What do you think?

    7. Mags at 20.46 - I say to you - look into your own dark mind and soul and your merciless heart. Then and only then can you give yourself the smug arrogance of castigating all before you. I'd take Mother Angelica's advice and wisdom before I'd ever countenance a word from you. See thine own faults first.

    1. There are too many people on here and elsewhere trying to make cheap points against Bishop John in relation to this case. He said he regretted doing this Funeral mass and that it was a bad judgement, fair enough. He’s a very humble and hard working Bishop who’s trying hard to cope with a shortage of priests in his diocese, so give the man a break.

  5. Pat, your assessment may or may not be correct, but could we not focus on the remedy which is a strong church purified and renewed by the Holy Spirit. Ultimately it is the devil and the extent of our co-operation with evil that hollows out the church. Can we not get on with building up the true church in words and actions and leave the purification to God. Surely the Spirit is able and willing to convict those doing harm in his own way and in his own time.

I used to hear tell that the western church died on 9 October 1958, but with revised views on Pius XII as the enabler for ++Bugnini the dates may be pushed back even more. Maybe the Society of S. Pius I will experience a revival.

The wording "[I believe] in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church of the Apostle's Creed is accepted by not only the Roman Catholic Church and the Anglican Church, but also by the the Eastern Orthodox Church, the Oriental Orthodox Churches, the Church of the East, as well as by most of the main Protestant denominations, including the Lutherans, Presbyterians, Methodists, Baptists and Congregationalists.

Perversely, the Roman Catholic Church believes the description to be applicable only to itself.

"Enemies of the blog" is a rather unfair description of those, myself included, who have complained about the blogs focus on sexual matters. The concern has been as much for the quality of your focus as its quantity.
In relation to quantity, it has seemed at times to have been like an exclusive focus on sexual behaviour, incessant and repetitive to the point of boredom.
In respect of content qualitywise, I have regularly thought it distasteful to read what appeared as voyeuristic titillating gleefulness in some exposes. That impression has been supported by pictures which, with accompanying commentary, further demean and diminish the possibility of sensible discussion of a serious topic.
So, +Pat, in relation to the many previously hidden but now revealed abuses of the RC clergy and particularly its hierarchy, the central thrust of your blog is certainly correct. I consider myself a supporter of the blog.
But I would urge you to refrain from titillating or salacious content, especially pictures, which demean your standing and provide fuel for your real enemies to criticise.

It said, "I realised that my decision to say the funeral mass of Malachy Finnegan in 2002 was the wrong one ...it is something I regret and will not reprat".

Does this mean he denies certain people the right to have a Christian burial? He doesn't even address his own Priest as Father! I think this Bishop is a dispicapble man without any spine or backbone.

Can I just say I in no way condone the behaviour of this Priest whatsoever but the actions of Bishop McArevay should send a message to his present Clergy id he couldn't give a hang about them and if in trouble - don't call me I'll call you.

    1. 02:28, McAreavey is not one bit sorry that he said Finnegan’s funeral Mass. He is only sorry because now his having done so is going to come back and bite him on his fat, lazy arse.

When they buried Finnegan, McAreavey and all the great and good of Dromore thought they had gotten away with it. They thought now that Finnegan is dead, his victims complaints went into the coffin with him. But they were wrong.

They gave Finnegan full honours at his funeral knowing that he had sexually abused young boys. Finnegan should have been buried quietly without fanfare - a simple Mass said for him by one of his priest friends. But they lauded and celebrated him.

McAreavey is not sorry that he hurt one of Finnegan’s victims by saying the funeral mass. McAreavey, behind closed doors, doesn’t give two shites for any victims of Finnegan. McAreavey is now trying to cover his arse for giving Finnegan a State funeral. McAreavey is sorry because the BBC are going to shine a Spotlight on his tenure as bishop of Dromore and McAreavey is shitting himself. Watch that space.
