FATHER JOHN MURRAY OF RASHARKIN

JOHN MURRAY

IT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION BY A VERY RELIABLE SOURCE THAT THE PSNI ARE SEEKING TO TALK TO FATHER JOHN MURRAY - THE FORMER PARISH PRIEST OF RASHARKIN IN COUNTY ANTRIM.

NOEL TREANOR

Readers will remember that two years ago on Holy Thursday Bishop Noel Treanor and the chancellor of the Diocese of Down and Connor - Father Eugene O'Hagan - one of The Priests - went to Father Murray's presbytery in Rasharkin and requested that he leave that day.

EUGENE O' HAGAN - CHANCELLOR

The matters which the PSNI are interested became known to Cardinal Cahal Daly and Bishop Paddy Walsh THIRTY FIVE YEARS AGO in 1983!

CAHAL DALY

After leaving Rasharkin 1m 2016 Father Murray initially went to stay with his sister in Castlewellan and then went to an apartment in Spain.

PADDY "SNIFF" WALSH

It has also been reported that Bishop Treanor provided Father Murray with a house in Newcastle in County Down and is paying the utilities on that property.

I understand that since then Father Murray has been commuting between Spain and Newcastle.

My source has also told me that Father Murray is at present a patient in a medical centre in Spain.

While I am aware of other matters concerning this issue it would not be proper - or in the interests of the police investigation and justice  - for me to say anything further.

Father Murray is 75 years old and has been a Down and Connor priest for over 50 years and has served in many parishes around the diocese.

I think that these bishops like treanor etc have covered up many indescretions for too long now and John Murray is not the only former priest in Rasharkin that they new about. Maybe the Sunday world should look into the lives runed by the late Vincent McKinleys antics in the parochial house in Rasharkin. This is only the beginning

    1. The same applies to the neighbouring parish of Dunloy and the antics that the former PP got up to in the Parochial House there.

    2. VICTIM OF VINCENT:

      I believe you 100%

I lived with McKinley for 5 years in St. Peter's, Belfast.

He was infamous for his inappropriate touching of women.

He also had several long term liaisons.

Even though he is now dead you should register your story with the police and the Diocese of Down and Connor.

I will help you do that if you wish.

Thank you Pat your offer is much appreciated. Unfortunately I wasn't even a woman when I was in the clutches of McKinley I was a mere child of the church and I am very sure I am not alone in being one of his victims in Rasharkin Parish but it's too difficult to talk about even now I just know it ruined my life

That fact that you were a child makes what happened to you more serious.

There may be other victims out there that can be helped if you come forward in confidence.

I know that the PSNI are not always loved in Rasharkin but on occasions like this they need to be contacted.

Please ring me, even anonymously for a chat.

  2. Unfortunately, some readers cannot ‘read more about it in today’s Sunday World’, on sale, or online. Did the newspaper shed any light on the mystery surrounding the sudden eviction and subsequent disappearance of the pensioner?

    3. It's clear Pat has leaked this story to the trashy rag 'Sunday World. He had prior knowledge of the article before publication. Pat isn't so much worried about victims but kicking the Church and in particular D&C. His hatred for that diocese is palpable.

    4. I DID NOT leak this story to the Sunday World.

One of their journalists rang me to ask if I knew anything about it.

I get calls every week from the broadcast and printed media about church matters.

I also help victims on a regular basis.

Its got nothing to do with hatred. Its about justice and healing.

  3. Is that Father Gordon McKinstry in the front row at the dinner in Bishop Treanor's palace?

Was he not in the Sunday World over ladies and children some time ago?

    1. It is indeed.

Gordon McKinstry and John Murray are classmates - ordained together in 1965.

John Murray himself describes the 1965 class as "A VINTAGE YEAR" !

    2. Is Bishop Anthony Farquhar a priest of that "vintage year" also?

    2. Magna, do you have to be so predictable. Right on cue! It's like the contributor who always starts off with 'How are ye girls?' The parishioners, with their donations, have kept the churches open, paid for heating, insurance etc and given to the poor. It is others within the diocese who divert money to other ends not wished for by the people. As the people find out their excesses, I think they are in many cases being more selective with their charity.

      Delete
    3. 13:54, donating money to an organisation which is spending it irresponsibly, or immorally, without insisting on spending protocols is itself irresponsible or immoral. It is why I stopped donating to a certain charity: I discovered, by accident, that it helped vulnerable teenagers to procure abortions.

      Delete
    4. Maybe you should redirect your charitable donation Magna to Alcoholics Anonymous.

      Delete
    5. That's a fair point, Magna. I do believe that anyone donating to any charity should be able to specify what they want their money to be used for. 13.54

      Delete
    6. You can specify. It’s reflected in their books as restricted funds v unrestricted. Unless the charity isn’t following the charities act they must do this. If your request is unreasonable or doesn’t fit with their charism they should return the donation.

      Delete
    7. Thank you, 15:49.

In the UK (when it comes to P.A.Y.E.), taxpayers have no reasonable choice when it comes to funding, say, the NHS. Those opposed to abortion cannot prevent their taxes being used to fund abortions on the health service; but when it comes to voluntary funding of such organisations as the Roman Catholic Church, then donators may choose not to support it financially if they have reasonable grounds to suspect that their money might be misspent.

  7. Just read the Sunday World. Absolutely appalling. Paddy Walsh was told about the sexual abuse of that 11 year old girl. What did he do? Remove Murray immediately from ministry having called the police? No. He “prayed” with the family!!! When is that vicious old reptile going to be investigated? A nasty and wicked bastard who got off on terrorising and beating teenage boys in st Malachy’s College. When are the police going knock on that bastard’s door before he dies?

Anonymous @16.56 who are you to suggest someone is gullible did u ever take time out to think maybe that person is a victim and comments from experience. We don't need any media outlets to tell us there has been inexcusable atrocities covered up for many years within the churches. It is time to delve deeper and those that both attacked the innocent and those that covered their tracks be accountable and punished

Pat, I'm sure you've noticed there are two other articles of interest to the blog.

    8. Well the PSNI, who don't mess about, will probably send a few of their finest out to Spain to quiz Fr Murray. There's an extradition treaty between Spain and the UK now so that may be invoked too. He's innocent until proven guilty but the law must be allowed to follow its course.

However inconvenient and at times vulgar, incorrect and prejudiced may we be glad that we live in countries with a free press.

    9. 18.57 If the days of saying “yes” to Father are over I suppose you marched up to that Priest and told him what he had said about fake news was all bull sh*t. Yeah, I’m sure you did!!! Talk is cheap as they say.

    10. Well, 20:13, you may, like that revolting priest, have no respect for the Mass and think nothing of using it as a platform for spouting clericalist bias. But others are not like either of you, which, presumably, is why the poster you excoriated refused to approach that revolting priest abd shout 'bullsh*t' at him.

I hope the Holy Father refuses to accept DM’s resignation when he reaches 75 years of age. It will be a big loss to Dublin if he does retire. 10. His Lordship Paddy ‘Sniff’ Walsh prayed and blessed the family before they left. I can just imagine the words of the blessing. I bless you all in the name of the father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit. Then Soto voce Walsh says “ now f##k off, say no more about this, I’ll move him elsewhere and give me peace as I’m off for a rubber of bridge”

    That was the attitude.

How arrogant to think a worthless blessing would solve anything.

  13. PAPAL NUNCIO'S BEHAVIOUR:

    Hi Pat,

Don’t know you were watching the ordination in Kilkenny online today, I’m sure you would have noticed the Papal Nuncio’s behaviour during the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

He cut off Michael Smith from concelebrating at the second concelebration part of Eucharist Prayer 1 and did it himself. Smith’s shrug and smirk reaction to Diarmuid Martin who smiled was hilarious.

He then visibly cut off Michael Neary and substituted him with Kieran O’Reilly for concelebration part 4. Neary’s look of shock as he stepped forward to be moved back was cringeworthy.

At the sign of peace, he did the traditional greeting instead of a handshake. And when it came to communion, he visibly refused a ciborium from the MC and went and sat down. At least Neary got his involvement at this point as they have him the ciborium instead.

Okolo’s behaviour shows him as a boorish bully. A typical Nigerian Alpha Male and I have worked with a few. Smith and Martin smirking at him just shows how little the Irish Bishops think of him. They obviously don’t like him I would think after watching today.

Just said I’d forward my observations anyway.
