GAY WEDDING - FERMANAGH

WELL, I WAS NOT INVITED TO THE ROYAL WEDDING IN LONDON YESTERDAY = BUT HAD MY OWN LOVELY WEDDING ON THE FERMANAGH LAKES.

The wedding was of two young men who have been a loving couple for seven years and who sealed their love before God in the open air yesterday.

I was assisted at the Wedding Mass by a fellow priest and by two religious sisters.

The priest concelebrated and the two sisters helped give out Holy Communion to the near 200 congregation.

We had wonderful live music and the readings were done by the congregation in both English and Irish.

There were people at the Wedding Mass from all over Ireland, the UK and the rest of the world.

Come came from as far as the United States and New Zealand.

The above slow lament was paid in memory of all the deceased relations of the couple and all present.

GAY WEDDINGS / BLESSINGS:

In its history, the Catholic Church used to celebrate same-sex blessings between two men and two women.

Thankfully nowadays same-sex marriages are legal in many countries.

Hopefully, they will soon be legal in Northern Ireland.

In the Scriptures, we are told: "WHEREVER THERE IS LOVE - THERE IS GOD".

Everyone present yesterday felt the love of God with us all - and with the young couple.

These weddings are becoming more and more common, thank God.

MORE BAD NEWS FOR DROMORE.

Bishop Pat,

I heard that this evening , Canon Brown who is administrator in Newry Cathedral, addressed the congregation to say that the bishop has informed him of a historical allegation against him and that he is standing down with immediate effect.

Canon Brown was also the principal of St Colman’s College for a period of time.

TOMORROW - BACK TO MAGHERAFELT

  1. You celebrated a wedding Pat not a marriage. I am very pleased for the said couple I hope the guys are very happy and wish them well for the future, but it's a wedding. A marriage is only recognized in both the Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church, between one man and one woman.Today you went through a process of blessing something, but it's not sacramental, not even licit or valid. They are civil partners that have got dressed up and took part in a 'form' with not the right 'matter' in the eyes of the Church.

I wish them well in their new life together as civil husband and husband. Not rejected by the Church, as the 'matter' 'form' and 'consumation' goes against the moral teachings of the Church.

    1. Look at the title of the blog - Gay Wedding.

I don't agree with you about sacramentality.

EVERY outward expression of love is a "sign" or "sacrament" of the love of God.

Sacramentality is not confined to the Seven Sacraments.

The Anglicans only have two sacraments, baptism and Eucharist.

      Delete
    2. Of the two Anglican "sacraments" only baptism is valid.

    5. 20:11, 'Magistra'? Are these the people who, for centuries, taught that the souls of unbaptised children and adults ended up in Hell? And for centuries after, that (okay, then) maybe not Hell, but certainly Heaven? In the state of Limbo?

Yes, Holy Mother Church has been a reliable teacher of God's will.

'Mater et Magistra'? I have another name for this highly fallible institution.😆

  2. Bishop Pat

I was asked this question by a Roman Catholic friend of mine, is there any mechanism where someone can renounce their membership of the Roman Catholic Church.

I understand that the Vatican in 2009 eliminated all processes of defection from their church. A nice clever way to try and hang on to their numbers at all costs.

If someone wanted to leave the Roman Catholic Church, there is no official process anymore?

I personally don't see any point in this, but my friend asked. He has had enough being a member of the church, which he described to me as a church he did not ask to join, was forced to by his parents when he was young, and is utterly disgusted by it, and wants to have no part of it anymore. He considers himself Catholic, not Roman Catholic.

This is not about just being upset at the revolting nature of the terrible scandals the Roman church has. It is also about doctrine and beliefs for him.

I would like your insight to this. Thank you, and God Bless, from a believer in a creator God in Derry City.

EM got him to write a letter to that effect and his defection was noted in the appropriate baptism register.

    1. For all those who attended the best wedding yesterday with Pat and are raving about it, let me tell you that I have officiated at many wonderful, joyful, happy "Marriages" in my Church with couples, families and friends expressing their gratitude for the celebration and how I made it special. We, priests, who officiate at a Marriage are very privileged, do our utmost to make it special and go out of our way to ensure the couple have the ceremony they desire. The gift of treating couples and their special day like this is not the preserve of Pat alone! Priests generally make it a memorable moment for couples. Credit to Pat but credit to all priests in their parishes who officiate at Sacramental Marriages....

If you are a Maynooth queen, 16:36 you'll want to know that my Roman source in the Secretariat of Statr says that the Congregation for Catholic Education will propose at the end of the summer break the withdrawal of Maynooth's Pontifical Charter, ending its status as a Pontifical University. Concerns are centred on low numbers, low academeic standards and vacant chairs, notably philosophy and Canon Law.

The CDF is separately investigating the strange goings-on, including some not yet disclosed on this blog. Both dicastories are collaporating on Maynooth, which is described in Rome as a "headache".

I find it strange that the Catholic church bows and scrapes towards invalidly ordained bishops and even lets lady bishops preach in Maynooth college chapel and at Novenas.

Yet validly ordained bishops such as Pat and the SSPX bishops have been ignored and calumniated. There seems to be no internal ecumenism in the Catholic church. The German bishops are pressing for Communion for Protestants, yet +Phonsie won't give it to +Pat.

    3. 18.17: I agree. Very, very tacky. Then of course, Pat is a very tacky, stupid fool at times but this "signature" host is outrageous. A complete mockery of a very SACRED MEMORY OF Jesus, which Pat supposedly honours.

      Delete
    4. I think it is more tacky for Priests in Ireland who almost throw the Sacred Host at people during Communion. It’s disrespectful and haphazard, they almost can’t wait to get through Communion. When it comes to purifying the vessels it is done in a very sloppy and tacky way, another rush job to get through it and get the Mass finished. The Irish Clergy seem to have no concept of the new rules regarding the celebration of Mass that came in a good few years ago. Many insist on muttering prayers after Communion like ‘O Sacrament most Holy’ which is no longer encouraged because people should be given a time of silence instead to thank the Lord for being present to them in the Eucharist. There are more tacky things the Clergy are doing, bad habits and sloppy liturgy than to be worried about initials on the Sacred Host. I’m not going to even mention homilies.

      Delete
    5. 21.34: Very hard to please everyone but all too easy to make unfair sweeping judgments. I try to encourage the utmost respect for the Eucharist and allow for reflective moments for congregation. Nowadays because people are unable to be still and silently reflective, they chat and behave disrespectfully, particularly at funerals and weddings.

    ReplyDelete
  22. 18.05: Buckley, what a mockery of the SACRED Eucharist. A complete sacrilege. You excuse your ignorant behaviour by blaming everyone else, the innocent nuns in this case. The only consolation is that it wasn't a TRUE CATHOLIC MASS. How could you, in conscience, mock, ridicule and play fun with the true meaning of the SACRED EUCHARIST? And now you'd want us to believe that you are the Messiah returned! You made a complete mockery of the Eucharist and I'm surprised that any enclosed Order of Nuns who supply Communion Hosts would approve of such mockery. Very easy to find out which Order as there are so few, and I suggest that all parishes cease purchasing hosts from the Order. You are ignorant.

    1. @19.37 Your thoughts are irrelevant and Hypocritical. During big open air masses with the Pope, Communion is offered to everyone and nobody asks them what religion the are, their sexuality, their marital status. Is that not mockery of the Eucharist. In one foreign trip Muslims where given Holy Communion and no one batted an eyelid.

  23. There's a lot to be said for the crowns placed on the head of intended spouses (M&F) in Orthodoxy.

    What are stefana (Stéfana)?
Stefana are used for The Crowning of the couple. The wedding crowns (Stéfana) are the signs of glory and honoUr with which God crowns the Bride and Groom during the sacrament. The Bride and Groom are crowned as king and queen of their home, which they will rule. They also get lighted candles which when extinguished are put in the hall, kitchen or bedroom of their home.

  24. If the Religious Sister wanted to hand make Sacred Hosts for her relatives Wedding then that is her prerogative and nobody else’s business. It’s not up to us what we deem tasteful or not when it comes to the Wedding of another couple. Is it acceptable for children to turn up for First Holy Communion in stretch limos, horse and carriage and in a few cases, a helicopter. What is that saying about the importance of the Eucharist when it’s more about a social occasion. Where do we start dictating what’s appropriate and what isn’t when it comes to the Sacrament f the Eucharist. What have some Priests been doing with their hands before handling the Sacred Hosts in the past and present?
