DOWN AND CONNOR - DEEP UNHAPPINESS

LETTER FROM A 70 YEAR OLD LADY:

Bishop Pat. I have been a faithful catholic for over 70 years. I believe in a God of love. Last night I was at clonard novena and heard the redemptorist priest give a wonderful and inspiring sermon on how we are born the way we are, regardless of whether we are LGBT or straight or whatever and that love is love regardless of who it is between. I fully agree.

Despite Pope Francis saying something similar, the down and connor diocese continue to deny people the right to love. Recently I went to confession and asked was I now going to be accepted as a full member of the church given that I have been a lesbian all my life. I was met with outright condemnation by the priest. His God is obviously not my God.

I know quite a few gay priests and how they stay in this organisation is beyond me. The greatest gift we have been given is love yet these hypocrites deny us the right to practice this and remain in the church.

TREANOR AND PETER ROBINSON DUP MEETING TO STOP SAME SEX MARRIAGE

This is our church. Not Treanors. Not O' Hagans. I can no longer sit and experience the beauty of the mass, knowing that other like-minded people are considered sinners by these bloody hypocrites.

O'HAGAN - TREANORS POODLE

OHagan is more interested in keeping secrets than he is promoting the endless love of God. Indeed OHagan was in a gay club I was in. Fair play to him but he needs to have the balls to admit who he is and not play pretend.

O'Donnell in St Brigid is another one. He is the priest I went to. All he is interested in is money and his own status. The church has sadly become irredeemable and I am embarrassed to say I have any association with it.

O'DONNELL - CAHAL DALYS FORMER POODLE

My God reigns and HE is a god of love not a god of hypocrisy nor a god of money nor is he a mafioso. The bishops house should be renamed as mafia headquarters.

Paramilitaries have stood down. It's time the Catholic mafia of Down and Connor did the same. They are a disgrace to Christ and a disgrace to all well meaning Catholics. If your right eye offends you cut it out. Well it's time to rid our church of the evil cancer of the Down and Connor mafia.

I have gone on far too long and didn't intend to go this far but something must be done to stop this evil. The Devil is alive and working within the Diocesan Curia but they are so far up their own backsides they just can't see.

LETTER FROM D&C MALE PARISHIONER:

Bishop Pat.

The God i know is a living and an honest God. Why then is the so called down and Connor shepherd Noel Treanor presiding over an organization riddled with hypocrisy and lies.

Why did his organization pay hush money to Bishop Farquahars housekeeper.

FARQUHAR

Why are openly gay priests in the Diocese not free to practice their sexuality without having to live a lie enforced upon them by this corrupt organization?

Any man or woman should be free to l ove who they choose  . Is this not better than living a lie and Treanor pretending everything in the garden is rosy. He and his henchmen are a band of vipers

Xxxxxxx

I have not heard of the controversy with Tony Farquhar's housekeeper?

Is her name Bernie?

What was that all about?

Why did Treanor "pay her off"?

  1. To be brutally honest Pat, reality check here, nothing will ever change.

This is the Roman Catholic Church, get used to cover ups, silence, hypocritical gay clergy, priests having affairs, money scams, etc etc etc.

Nothing will ever change. This is one of the reasons why people, especially young people have totally abandoned the church.

On Sunday, I was invited by an aunt to attend Mass in her church. It was the main Mass of Sunday, at 11.00am, and the church was full of what she calls "white hair brigade". I estimate only 10% were under the age of 40. And she said that was the case for the other two Masses in the church on the weekend.

The figures speak for themselves. Young people, and indeed many not so young have had enough of this rat bag of a church.

Now, let me get things clear, this is not to say they disagree over ceremonies, liturgy, etc, it is they have had enough of the right wing scum who preach one thing and live another.

I see Magna Carta is a commentator on this blog, and I know some don't like the views displayed by Magna, but on some grounds he has a point.

You don't need to have your bum on a seat in a church on Sunday whether you believe in a God or not.

I know I sound a bit pessimistic, but facts are facts.

    2. 09:08 Perseverance, presumably...for continuing to attend 'this rat bag of a church'. And isn't persevereance traditionally counted a virtue in Roman Catholicism? So why the carping against the other poster.

And not just perseverance, but hope that things might change, in time. Hope? Another virtue. So again, why the carping against the other poster.

If he is a hypocrite, then you're a confirmed idiot.

      Are you an idiot?

  2. Going to confession and confessing something you don't consider sinful seems odd to me. She was seeking 'official' confirmation that her sin is not sinful and got what she deserved or more probably expected so that she could whine on here. Why doesn't she just join your 'church' or the CoI if she seeks approval for what the Catholic and Orthodox Churches, along with Islam, Buddhism and most other religions unanimously condemn as sinful? And to use the sins of others (even if much more grave) as an excuse for one's own is never going to salve a troubled conscience and make truth into lies.

"His God is not My God" doe this poor auld soul not know that their is only One God! you cannot pick and choose a God who fits in with your particular lifestyle.

The constant complaints that everything that goes wrong is the fault of Our Holy Mother The Church is annoying. It is not The Church that is at fault, it is the lowlifes who enter the clerical state, take vows and then break them causing scandal to The Faithful. If they followed The Magisterium of The Church and kept true to their vows they would have nothing to complain about.

  10. We too have heard the rumours about Coco the clown's housekeeper. As for O'Hagan, he's a joke. Never before has there been such a narcissist as big as he is. If the man was chocolate he'd eat himself. He can be seen regularly hanging about the QUB swimming pool. He's such a bitchy queen. That's who we have in charge of our diocese. Treanor's palace is pure luxury. Marble everywhere. Maybe he should spend a night with the homeless to see what suffering is. Pope Francis lives in a modest guesthouse yet this guy lives in pure luxury. HOw does one guy need all this "living" space? There's nothing nor anyone that can justify this decadence. How he has not been called to Rome to explain himself is beyond me. Big barbecue arranged for Friday night in his residence to celebrate his 10 years as a bishop. Wonder if he's paying for it himself. Doubt it. Money will come, as always, from the taxes he imposes on the parishes. Suppose when he has a buffoon accountant as his civil leader over the Diocese we can expect more taxes to help upkeep his lifestyle and pay for his henchmen. Or maybe O'Hagan needs new swimming trunks. Complete and utter joke. Where is Christ in this lifestyle? Probably not allowed past the front doors unless HE pays Treanor some "tax"? When the Spirit of God visits this place he will bring a wrecking ball to it. God forgive Treanor and his guard dogs O'Hagan and wee Joe.

You’re a mischief maker and a troubled soul it would seem. God help you.

    4. 12.11: I agree with you. The "anonymous believer in Christ" indicated recently that he is a priest. If he is so damn unhappy with everything, he should take time out. His attempts to paint the Bishop as a waster is just mischief making. Is he annoyed that he's not the belle of the ball? Showing gratitude to others who give freely of their time is praiseworthy and legitimate - for all parishes. Would truly love to know the real troubles of the anon believer in Christ!!

      Delete
  11. P.S. How can the Diocese legitimately pay hush money when they are registered as a charity so that they pay no tax? Surely their finances are audited. Maybe that's why they have an accountant in charge of civil matters. How ironic. They get exemption from paying tax yet tax the hell out of the parishes. Money mad. I see McBride in Crumlin publicly dedicated a bench and thanked him profusely from the pulpit for leaving the parish thousands in his will. What about the pensioners who give what they can despite having very little. Will they too get a bench and be thanked individually from the pulpit? Our church should be renamed as the Irish begging Catholic Church. The whole thing has become a joke under Treanors leadership. I despair for our future

  13. Pat, I would like to address some of the points made in your letters. - Down and Connor don't make the rules. They follow the Magisterium of the Church just like every other Diocese across the world. - The Redemptorists are notorious for watering down the faith, so whatever they preach should be taken with a massive pinch of salt. I will acknowledge that they do a LOT of amazing work, however. - Pope Francis supposedly made comments (similar to the ones above) in a private conversation and therefore they cannot be verified. That being said, the basis of the Catholic faith is love. God loves all of his children but this love doesn't advocate for sin - any sin. - Priests, irregardless of their sexuality, are called by God to serve His Church. They are called to live a celibate life and the struggle with this is no different just because of who you may or may not be attracted to. They stay for their love of God and His Holy Church.

    1. 10:30 I know you're awake, but is your brain still asleep?

Down and Connor follows the rules of the Magisterium? What rules? And since when?

Was it following these rules when Treanor allegedly spent up to 4 million quid on his Somerton Road pile in a period of economic recession?

Was it following those rules when priests, like Ciaran Dallat, were allegedly fathering kids and then abandoning both mothers and children?

Was it following those rules when priests were allegedly raping or sodomizing children?

      You're an idiot, aren't you?

NB this was before McCarrick was translated to Washington and made a Cardinal. The veteran American Rod Dreher reports that a delegation of Ameican bishops had informed the Vatican of their concerns before 2000 and urged that McCarrick not be appointed. Needless to say this was the Rome of Saint John Paul II and Joseph Ratzinger.

  17. Eddie McGee teaches in St Mary's and is the press officer for the Diocese. Not a bad guy at all but he is shit afraid of O'hafan and Treanor. Annual barbecue to say thanks? Wise up. It's just an excuse to spend money unwisely. Why not take the money and go around the homeless shelters anonymously giving out food. It's a SIN spending money lavishly when there are homeless and needy. Stop trying to justify Treanor. Lives like a king whilst a lot of his parishioners are struggling to make ends meet. Some of the comments on this blog are weird and silly. I wonder what Jesus would do or indeed Pope Francis if they were presented with the Lisbreen palace. They'd sell it and give it over to the poor for social housing. Might not suit the castle Catholics though. Truly I say unto you it would be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle. Lisbreen is a den of iniquity although there are SOME very good people working in it. The chief civil officer O'Neill is only interested in filling the coffers. A man with little or no experience in anything other than MONEY. That's why he was brought in. TO REPLENISH the DIOCESAN COFFERS. Selling off land, increasing taxes on poor parishes. Where does that fit in with the gospel message. The main tennent of our faith should be to preach and follow the gospels. However the HOLY SPIRIT will visit his wrath on the Diocese. How Pope Francis doesn't know about our Diocese is a mystery but then again we have become experts in covering up. A day of reckoning will come. The Diocese has become solely a business feeding off the poor. I bet there's no Tesco frozen burgers being served on Friday night. Not a chance. Meanwhile anonymously some of us will visit the homeless and the needy. It's in God we trust not in the Lisbreen mafia and as sure as night follows day, God will come again and put these wrongs to right. I'm not interested in just bashing the Diocese but we MUST highlight wrongdoing

  18. Bishop Pat. On Friday last I went to confession in Glasgow to their lovely renovated Cathedral as I was on holiday there. I went to confess my sins before Almighty God. The Priest soon asked me if I was gay. I said I was. At that point he asked about our sex life. I was refused absolution for all my sins on the grounds that I am gay. I was told that unless I leave my partner of 44 years (and presumably sell our house) I would never ever be absolved. Furthermore I was told I must not receive Holy Communion and was told that I should seriously consider leaving the Church as God never made me to be gay, he was angry with me, and in all likelihood I would not make it to heaven. My head tells me I should walk away from the Church completely, but my heart tells me that I shouldn’t. I found your blog by accident as I am searching for support about what to do next. I am fine with this being uploaded, but I would like it to be anonymous please. Thanks and God bless.

Before you become so aggressive or dismissive, perhaps this Priest is sending away all the gays and treating them so appallingly. Sounds like a pattern is emerging in Glasgow, so why not be compassionate to this lady or gentleman. After all, look at the double standards across Scotland that have been reported here, so it won’t be a surprise to
anyone. Isn’t this blog usually (daily) about Maynooth with lots of similar stories? More than half of the content is clearly made up, is malicious or exaggerated. So how you can say that just because a few incidents are similar in content, they must come from the same author is bizarre in itself. And regarding you 1456. As a priest, if I was to throw a hissy fit about everything I dislike and disagree with, I may as well leave the priesthood. I'd have time for nothing else. While I have my opinions and disagreements, I believe that my first responsibility is to look after the parish entrusted to my care and do it as best I can, with God's grace. Continually criticising and being negative about everyone and everything is a recipe for unnecessary angst and an excuse for doing nothing. The criticisms you make are reasonable to a degree but you can't definitively define a particular prelate or cleric as totally corrupt. There is good and bad in each if us and real change must always begin with ourselves individually. Did you not concur recently or suggest that you are a priest? No shame, but be truthful. 26. I have had staff complain to me that the HR lady in question is a tyrant and that the civil officer is anything but civil. Before anyone gets their knickers in a twist, this is not rumour. It is based on first hand testimony from staff. The HR lady said to one of my staff "you will listen to me and not talk". She was told that wasn't appropriate and then the HR lady accused her of being abusive and was backed up by the not so civil chief officer. Pure and simple the regime in Lisbreen is a dictatorship and it is NOT being run as s religious organisation. I hope I have articulated my views well enough so that there can be no confusion. Property officer is a decent guy but is terrified of O'Neill and the aforementioned HR "lady". Lisbreen in the two kindred spirits of O'Neill and HR lady Toner are the SS of the Diocese with the Bishops backing. I hear they got rid of their Health and Safety guy because he highlighted too many breaches of Health and Safety and wouldn't back down.

I think you were released to early from The Betty Ford clinic . Put that bottle of vitriol down dear its making you too bitter go back to the gin it will calm you down.

      Read my comment at 18:23.😆

  29. If anyone is a dumbo! its you Magna you've never gotten over being flung out of the seminary. It is not The Institutional Catholic Church that is a w***re . The infidelities are caused by evil clerics and laity within. Who do not follow The Teaching of The Church the are the w***e's you cretin!

    1. Evil clerics who were protected by a theology and system which placed far greater value on their persons (because they were priests and ontologically better than their victims and others) and which held that the basis for exercising clerical authority must not, at any cost, be undermined by public scandal.

      You cretin.😆

  30. 17.08: You are even more inane as the day unfolds. What has happened your priestly charity and kindness? Have you been sidelines by your Bishop? You have too many grievances. Get on with your real work- if you have work to do! You are a snooping, gossipy trouble maker.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Keep the gossip coming snoopy D&C Priest. We like your sowing of discord.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Not gossip. Truth. Sorry if some of you can't handle it and prefer to live in your bubble. Priestly charity and kindness? I pray every day and night for our leaders but I have to expose their avarice. It is only by speaking out that we can show how evil and corruption has set in. Sure, all in Lisbreen must have some goodness but it's the greed that stands out. Issues? My issues are that our church is going down the tubes because of the failure of our leaders and some clerics. Add the civil administration of D and C into the mix and it is a cesspit. To my brother priest, if you are not concerned about the state of our diocese then why are you even on this blog and if you are not concerned about our leaders you are living in a fools paradise

    1. 21.38: You are revealing yourself as a disgruntled, wronged, petulant individual. For God's sake, of course we must condemn any abuse of power and authority, as I do, but I don't carry my disillusionment on my back like a heavy boulder, as you are doing. You should focus your energies on the vineyard given to you to tend. Renewal and gospel like living must begin with each one of us within. By your own witness to Christ you will effect the changes necessary and produce the relevant fruits in your own plot of land. Your comments are a little hysterical. I am, like most priests, dismayed at institutionalism but I have learned a long time ago to loosen my bind to that weight. I get on with my relevant and necessary duties. God helps in the process.

      Delete
    2. 22:45 So you 'look the other way', in other words ('loosen my bind to that weight').

You need to look at the entire canvas, not just your preferred corner of it.

God may be calling YOU to add your own brushstrokes: to help effect change for the better.

      Delete
    3. 23.03: Magna, I never look the other way. Ever. I do look at the bigger canvass but I can only paint the part I inhabit and endeavour to effect the necessary changes and renewal I believe to be appropriate, always ensuring it's "gospel" centred: i.e - Christ-like. We can only grow where we're planted. I wonder what relevant changes you've inspired with all your brushstrokes? I await the bright new dawn of colour. Enlighten us.

      Delete
    4. 00:42 I have revealed those brushstrokes many times on this blog: Roman Catholic theology of priesthood is corrupted by inflated worldly vanity, and produces priests puffed up with their own self-importance, and inclines them to self-aggrandisement, while having them vow obedience to Rome, a HUMAN institution with a sickening history of corruption and vice, rather than to Jesus Christ. It is why servile cowards, like Sean Brady, conspired to conceal serious sexual crimes against children rather than act mercifully and justly by giving this information to the police.

There is and can be no such thing as a good priest, as long as his loyalty is pledged to the golden calf, Rome, and his conscience made subservient to her.

  35. And no I have not been sidelined. If I was brace enough (which I am not) I would speak up openly. However I have seen the gestapo at their work and I know how they work. And it's not just sowing of discord. It's letting people know what is going on. Perhaps u should remain quiet and keep people in the dark about the destruction of our diocese by those in command and fellow clerics. I think not. It's time for renewal. It's time to change. Not the message of the gospels but the way our Diocese is run.

  36. I had a close clergy friend in D&C. He died within the last few years. He was a nice, balanced well mannered man. However when the clergy clique around the bishop was mentioned he would refer to them as ‘those bastards’. His verdict was good enough for me.

  37. If true then the parishioners of Clogherhead must be thrilled that their new PP is a media star.

  40. Further studies in Boston? How much so called studying is required to be a decent priest? In how many other professions is someone taken out mid-career and sent to somewhere like Rome or Boston to study with all expenses paid and no worries about how to pay the mortgage? And Most of us might think of an Open University degree in our spare time, but nothing so pedestrian for the clergy. Yet another clerical gravy train paid for by people for whom a trip to Boston would be an impossible dream.

  44. Oh! Magna Dear you're so full of hatred for The Holy Church, it shines out of every sentence. I am so sorry for you why don't you offer it up, I'm sure it would be good for you tortured soul. I have just lit a candle and said The Memorare for you. Why don't you pray to Our Blessed Lady Queen of The Clergy to send us good Holy Priests. You can then return to the arms of Our Holy Mother The Church where deep down I' sure you long to be.

  45. Catholics pray to The Blessed Virgin Mary because She is The Mother of God, to whom Hyper Dulia (veneration)is due. But not Latria (worship) which is due to Almighty God alone.
