IS KING PUCK TO BE ORDAINED SOON?

A BLOG READER/ CONTRIBUTOR CLAIMED YESTERDAY THAT SEAN "KING PUCK" JONES IS TO BE ORDAINED A PRIEST ON JULY IST IN MOYVANE PARISH CHURCH BY THE KERRY RC BISHOP - RAY BROWNE.

RAY LOOKING FONDLY ON KING PUCK
This "news", if true, raises a number of important questions:

1. Was King Puck a member of the Pallottine Order before being accepted?

2. Was King Puck asked to leave the Pallottines or did he leave of his own accord?

3. What were the reasons/circumstances surrounding his departure from the Pallotines?

4. If King Puck was suitable for ordination why did Ray Browne delay his ordination for 2 years?

5. If he was not suitable for ordination 2 years ago what has now changed that makes him suitable now?

King Puck's activities and placements for the past 2 years have been conducted with an air of secrecy.

Why?

Gorgeous is gone.

Horney Andy is gone.

Gannon is gone.

Derwin is gone.

And is King Puck to ordained with full honours next month?

    Best wishes on your op.

  4. M/ Happy is about early at 6.26. Hope your procedure is ok. The travellers know how to celebrate. As for Puck people change. It is ray's call. Let's see what happens next

    1. People do change. Two years is a short time though.

Perhaps with all the controversy he was smart enough to not apply for ordination two years ago? Sean's history has been to discern with caution, and completed his Theology as a lay student while discerning a call to priestly life. He entered formation afterwards.

Or Perhaps Ray does not trust Maynooth and wanted two years of observation in Kerry before making a decision? There is a history of Ray writing to Maynooth to point out that they messed up certain seminarians known to him. To be fair to Ray I know of at least one case where he told Hugh Connolly that the seminary council needed to take responsibility for an ex-sem and offer counselling to fix the de-formation done to him in the mad house.

There is also a near-recent history of the Pallotines ejecting people who went onto ordination within Maynooth - and having questionable minintries thereafter.

  6. Like your other readers, +Pat, I hope you’re feeling better after your operation.

As for the King, his indiscretions may have been less compromising than, for example, Coyle (full frontal), or McCamley (full-on full frontal).

We can’t all the perfect, +Pat, allowances have to be made.

  7. BLOG INFO: The Irish News are reporting today that Bishop Boyce has appointed Fr Tony Corr as Vicar General because he doesn’t have any connection or history with St Colmans College. What we do know is the history and connection of Fr Corr and Fr Crossan revealed only to this blog. Bishop Boyce is oblivious to this info and is viewed by present clergy in Dromore as incompetent.

Next Revealation to be released exclusively to this blog will be the current residence and whereabouts of Bishop McAreavey.

    3. Did not draw any conclusion.

He looked a bit nervous of meeting people. But one person was very kind and reassuring to him, which was nice.

    1. And if they did, in terms of today’s circumstances and caliber they would need very large lettering, simple words and probably lots of coloured lettering too. The standard is not what it once was when real intellectual men entered formation.

    1. He wouldn’t be accepted. They’ve a rigorous selection process and he, unfortunately wouldn’t make the standard. Also, the Jesuits wouldn’t facilitate his desires of and pleasures of the naked flesh.

  10. In fairness to Bp John McAreavey he is now a private citizen and as such it shouldn’t be of any concern where he lives or what he does now

  11. Ah the wee hairy beastie. He won't be ordained, too much of a whiff of gunpowder around him. Nothing about him for the last two years apart from requests to be forgotten.

  12. Fr. Corr has been telling Priest friends the first question that Bishop Boyce asked him was had he any connection whatsoever to St. Colmans In Newry. When it was established he had no connections at all he was then offered the post of Vicar General. There is also a lot of ill feeling against Bishop Boyce appointing Fr Loughran to Newry Cathedral as Administrator. There are more priests senior to Fr Loughran who has been outside the diocese in the USA for a number of years. He has only been in the parish of Dromore a few weeks. Friends of Canon Brown are livid at Loughrans appointment and Boyce does not want Brown back as Administrator whether an investigation exonerates him or not over historical abuse allegations. Dromore Diocese has been in a total mess and it has now become even messier.

    1. Dromore is in a very unhappy state.

That must be very difficult for the priests.

Boyce has no sensitivity to people's feelings.

      Delete
    2. I know you don't hold Boyce in very high esteem, Pat, but do you think the appointment of this new Adm could be a good thing? Anon at 14.46 says that there were other priests more senior to the newly appointed Adm, but maybe that's a notion we need to get away from - i.e. the sense of entitlement to a position because of age or seniority.

The appointment could end up being a good move - a priest who has not been associated with the diocese/cathedral for a few years could be *one* positive step?

      Delete
    3. 15.04 That’s all well and good but these appointments could have the opposite effect and breed resentment. If that is left to fester it creates more harm than good. Boyce may be quick to create an impression in Dromore but at what expense? His time in Raphoe leaves a lot to be desired.

    4. Boyce will end up making a pigs ear of Dromore and it sounds as if he’s already started to do it the stupid man. The new VG is hardly a good advert for discretion if he’s telling his pals what the contents of his conversation with Boyce was.

  13. I don't know Sean Jones or anything of his past life only what I learned here. I wish him well as he moves on to a new chapter in his life. I am reminded of the Gospel passages where Jesus calls to the crowd for the one amongst it with no sin to throw the 1st stone at the woman caught in adultery. Also Jesus reminded the people that he came heal the sick not the healthy. Give him a chance. Wish him well. Pray for him.

    1. 15.56 I'm not sure that scripture applies so much here. More important are the lines relating to who should be accepted for responsibility in the church. There must be a standard.

  16. The good thing about the Dromore situation is that the shortages have forced them to prise parish-dodger Fr complicated first name Magennis out of St Mary's College in Belfast. He'll find it a shock to the system working in a parish.

    2. Why is Fr complicated first name Magennis teaching in a college in Belfast, way outside his own diocese of Dromore? Is parish service so unappealing?

  18. Yes 18.48 he is a well known parish dodger alright and has been for a good few years now. He will find it a right pain in the hole commuting to Dromore from Belfast at weekends. He should be put in Dromore town permanently rather than part time, not fair to the people there. That other dodger Hugh Connolly should be ordered back and McAreavey should run a parish too.

    1. Hugh Connolly is in France for the protection of the Dromore faithful. His current role is a nominal job. Let him be forgotten about because he is best confined to history.
