NO LEADERSHIP IN IRISH CATHOLIC CHURCH

THE LEADERSHIP OF THE IRISH ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH - THE SO-CALLED IRISH BISHOPS - ARE A SMALL CROWD OF UNINTELLIGENT, OUT OF TOUCH, ARROGANT LOSERS WHO ARE BLIND TO THE FACT THAT THEY ARE THEIR INSTITUTION IS GOING DOWN THE SHUTE!

"AT THIS TIME THERE IS NEITHER PRIEST OR PROPHET TO PLY HIS TRADE IN THE LAND"

1. AMY MARTIN OF ARMAGH:

Eamon is an effeminate, tight-mouthed, "Mammy's Boy" who has absolutely no leadership skills and who is afraid of his own shadow.

He does not even have the good manners to answer email and letters he is sent.

He is presiding over a presbyterate of clerics many of whom are actively gay; Grindr Followers who show their faces and their willies on social media and think they can get away with it.

Others in his presbyterate, like Gates, are jumped up little bullies who specialize in bullying children, parents, teachers and school staff - not to mention sending holy old ladies home,e from Mass crying.

Others have no common sense and are lecturing people publicly about matters that they are not observing in their own lives.

The past week or so we have seen Eamon Martin's weakness when the whole country went against Catholic teaching and voted for abortion.

And all Amy can do is to run off to Belguim with the Anglicans.

The Archdiocese of Armagh and the Catholic Church in the country is going to Hell while Amy goes around behaving as if everything in the garden is rosy!

2 DERMO IN DUBLIN:

Diarmuid "The Coddle" Martin in Dublin is no better than Amy. His only lead over Amy is his relationship with the media.

Dermo has always had an atrocious relationship with his priests.

He has surrounded himself with a cabal of yes men.

He has a big soft spot for gay seminarians and priests, even when they cause scandal.

He can turn on the tears at the flick of a camera.

He is busy planning to give his job to a successor he favours.

And, of course, he would like a red hat before he dies.

3. CASHEL AND TUAM:

Kieran O'Reilly in Cashel and Michael Neary in Tuam are as useful and practical as tits on a bull.

They are just two bodies filling chairs that would otherwise be simply empty.

No personalities or leadership skills whatsoever.

4. DORAN OF SLIGO:

Then you have Kevin Doran (my seminary classmate) who is Elphin.

He is the fella who compared homosexuality to Downs Syndrome during the same-sex marriage referendum.

He now wants people who voted YES in the abortion referendum to go to Confession! How can they if they are not sorry for voting yes.

5. POISONOUS PHONSIE:

Then you have Phonsie in Waterford who raves like a Catholic with mad cow disease.

He wanted to tell girls not to have a reproductive vaccine.

Then he wanted the pubs closed on Good Friday.

Then he banned an atheist TD from sponsoring a child for Confirmation.

Today he wants YES voters to go to Confession too!

6. TREANOR IN BELFAST:

Then you have Noel Treanor In Belfast.

He likes his £4 million renovated palace.

He is in Europe half the time.

He does not like doing Confirmations.

 7. THE "ALSO RANS":

Then you have the low profile "successors of the apostles" - the ALSO RANS -  - Smith in Meath, Kelly in Galway, Kirby in Clonfert, Monahan in Killaloe, O'Reilly in Cavan (Kilmore) Buckley in Cork, Boyce in Dromore, Browne in Kerry, Brennan in Ferns, Crean in Cloyne, Leahy in Limerick, Duffy in Ardagh, Fleming in Killala, McGuckian in Donegal, McKeown in Derry, Nulty in Kildare.

Not one of them would have been given a managerial job in an organization in Civvy Street.

And all the while:

- Scandals leaking out.

- Churches emptying.

- People ignoring them.

- Schools wanting away from them.

- No seminarians entering.

- Parishes with no priests.

- No nuns joining Orders.

- Population voting against Catholic Teaching, issue after issue.

- Importing priests from Africa and India.

- Dead babies bodies being found in convent septic tanks.

- nuns illegally exporting children to international destinations.

- The mass attendance rate at 3% in parts of the capital.

- Congregations consisting of grey heads.

- Many couples preferring Civil Marriages to Church marriages.

- Priesthood with a reputation for being a sexually active gay cabal.

- Sex acts on rural church altars.

etc, etc

YES INDEED:

THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH IN IRELAND IS BEREFT OF EFFECTIVE AND INSPIRING LEADERSHIP

    1. Look like Gates in drag having more than fun with mcniff. Disgusting behaviour and Fr Gates is only back from his suspension/punishment. It is obvious he will never grow up and be a REAL Priest instead being an attention seeker with his best buddy mceniff. Sad state of affairs and quite simply a embarrassment.

    1. Take Amy to the Vatican and make him Postmaster General.

      Give Dermo early retirement.

Insist that all bishops be PASTORS - not canon lawyers, desk priests, theologians, teachers.

      Ordain married men as priests.

      Ordain suitable women as priests.

Out the New Testament before canon law.

Close Maynooth and The Irish College and start a new seminary with properly qualified staff - including qualified lay people.

Have dialogue with the People of God and answer their emails and letters.

Remove bullying priests from their posts.

      etc. etc

  4. What a bitter, nasty person Pat is. On this Feast of Corpus Christi, we hold SACRED the memory of Jesus, which we show by our Christian living. While there are many flaws, failings and imperfections in our Church and its leaders and members, is it fair to make so condemnatory a statement like this, which is the persistent story on this blog. Same story, different days! Shame on you Pat for the destruction of Christ's MEMORY through your nastiness. "Judge not and you will not be judged yourself: do not condemn...Be COMPASSIONATE as your Heavenly Father is compassionate.. ". Let's practice these words of Jesus.

I've just read on the BBC on-line news site that the Pope is granting various indulgences to Irish people in connection with his visit to Ireland. The site explains a bit about indulgences function in relation to remission of purgatorial punishment for past sins.
I read it with a sense of disbelief at the arrogance mixed with sheer incredulity.
Surely it's getting to the stage where the RC church and its pronouncements are not only irrelevant, but a source of derisive laughter?
And while there's much focus just now on "Gates", what about the "holy doors" indulgences?

  10. 11.46. You really should stay off that stuff. It’s making you seriously delusional!
But fear not an indulgence is on the way. Can an expert on indulgences answer me this question. When the papal visit comes I won’t be there nor will I watch it on the tv. However if I’m watching the news that night and an item about the papal visit comes on do I inadvertently get a reduced indulgence. Is there a sliding scale? I think at a push I could handle a 10% one! That way I can live out my life confident in the knowledge that my cynicism at the wholesale manipulation and puss taking of the “ faithful” will not be punished as severely as I should. Phew...what a relief!

    2. I indulged myself last night. I may do so again tonight.

Why does the Roman Catholic Church insist on teaching that sin carries 'temporal punishment'? Punishment? Why can't God just forgive sin, and let it go at that. Why must (or does?) he behave like Shylock and demand retribution.

To teach that God punishes sin, even repented sin, is to teach obliquely that God actually isn't as merciful and forgiving, as the RCC teaches, too.

The RCC is a mass of contradiction! Another infamous one: (human life is sacred...with which I agree...and, therefore, abortion is morally wrong. But hey! Not so sacred that we morally condemn capital punishment.😆)

Only two things change in the catholic church,
      1. The numbers in the pews
      2. The expectations of the people who remain in the pews.

People are not just leaving because they do not believe; all too often they leave because they do believe but the institutional church fails to live by example. Remember the words, "believe what you read, teach what you believe, practice what you teach". These words appear to have disappeared from the Church's daily life.

  18. Pat, I don't see the value in listing ridiculing snaps of the bishops like this every few months. They may well be true but your blog piece today is not really a follower of Jesus' response. You mentioned recently that 'demolition comes before renovation' but that applies to a building and we are dealing with a body here. Imagine if somebody else ran a blog constantly featuring you and the Oratory helpers and everytime brought up negatives about you all. It would be unfair. We know we have the spirit when we encourage the green shoots and look for a positive. The church is being seriously pruned perhaps just not as fast as we might expect. There must be a better way of making progress.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. 16:36: There'd be no grounds for such a blog on the Oratory Society, so your point is...well...pointless, really. 😆

As for the institutional Roman Catholic Church, it just keeps, lemming-like, providing the world with scandal after scandal.

Don't blame Bishop Pat for the selfish stupidity of the RCC institution.

There is one, sure-fire way of bringing blogs like this one to abrupt stop...and that is for the institutional Church to be the church Jesus always intended.

      Delete
    2. 16.55 Magna, a new blog could do what Pat does..and that is find grounds for ridiculing. Pat with a funny hat saying something ridiculous shouldn't be hard to find. Perhaps exhibiting constantly a sad chapter from one of the Oratory priests which he would prefer to remain hidden.
Also I'm not disagreeing with the fact that the church is producing scandal nor am I blaming Pat for it as you erroneously suggest. I make the very valid point that our response to these scandals is in fact more like our own type of scandal. Finally, we know the church is unable for now to be purified. So, in the meantime, do we just regurgitate every scandal we can again and again? Surely not the response of a follower of Jesus, or a person filled with the Spirit. And that is far from pointless, Magna.

Reading the blog about the Irish bishops brings to my mind TS Eliot's famous poem, "The Hollow Men".
Perhaps it could refer to the RC hierarchy and its institution as well.
    Consider its beginning and end:

    "We are the hollow men
    We are the stuffed men
    Leaning together
    Headpiece filled with straw. Alas!
    Our dried voices, when
    We whisper together
    Are quiet and meaningless
    As wind in dry grass
Or rats' feet over broken glass
    In our dry cellar
    ...........
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper."

  27. Hi Pat, what is your thoughts on Bishop Donal (GIRO) McKeown in Derry?

He is "leading" a diocese in decline, with a notable exception of their cathedral parish, which seems to be attracting thousands of people to their services each week. Their recent Novena in May saw huge attendances, packed out, and of course a huge money spinner for them.

I have spoken to a few friends who are parishioners there, and they have said that Saint Eugene's Cathedral is the gold mine of the diocese, whereas other parish attendances are dropping like a stone, the cathedral is consistently high under the leadership of Father Paul Farren.

It seems Father Farren has better leadership qualities than his boss.

The clergy appointments this summer will be interesting, to see how Donal shores up the terminal decline in their priest numbers.

As of June 2018, there are now only roughly 74 full time priests to serve 51 parishes. With many due to retire this summer. 20/30 years a go there were over 140 full time priests in the Derry Diocese. How times have changed?

Even the gold mine of Saint Eugene's Cathedral has only been given two full time priests by Donal, relying on three aged retired clergy to shore up the numbers in the parish. A parish with a population of nearly 11,000!

I was told by one parishioner of how one of the retired priests who I won't name on here, nearly fell flat on his face coming down the sanctuary steps to give out communion. he is riddled with arthritis and is over 80. Poor man. It happened a week later when he said morning mass in the neighbouring Long Tower church, thankfully a sacristan who was serving on the altar was there to help him up.

Also, we are still in the valley of utter silence with regards to Father Brendan Collins. You will remember him Pat. The young priest, ordained a few years, then went on sabbatical, and has never been seen since summer 2016. Whiff of a gay boyfriend scandal I heard.
His name and photo still remains on the Derry Diocese website.

So, overall my impression is that Bishop McKeown is totally inept. That constant Cheshire cat grin he has makes me want to vomit. Never trust a man who is always smiling, he has something to hide, is what my father used to say.

When I was in the diocese, I thought his predecessor Bishop Seamus Hegarty was truly appalling. His past record was awful, especially with the handling of sex abuse in Raphoe and Derry, but one got the feeling that he had some control over his priests, and that they were afraid of him. He certainly put the fear of God in me when I met him a few times. About as warm as an iceberg with just as much charisma.

I had hopes that Bishop McKeown would be different. However it seems it is all empty words, constant smiles, trying to be "with it" with the young people of the diocese, thinking high fiving young people will make him look cool. He just comes across as a total fake.

I would like to know what you think? And others too, if they have encountered him.

    May God Bless You.

    3. John McTaggart actually. I was born and raised in Derry City, and was very proud of my home parish of Long Tower. Some wonderful priests there, including Fr Con McLaughlin, a really true warm hearted priest who married my mum and dad.

I moved away from the diocese, but I am back and forth, and have family living there, who adore their faith, but not the leadership.

I am saddened by the decline of the diocese, and wanted to express my views here. If my views are "smug, arrogant" etc, well so be it, it was not meant to come across like that.

It is very very easy to turn this blog into a slanging match, and that is not why I am on here. Like YouTube comment sections, I now have to take the advice from many YouTubers who warn, "never read the comments section".

  28. 18.12 Perhaps we watched a different Confirmation. Everyone was welcomed over and over again, the occasion wasn't about Fr. Gates however but those being Confirmed. Lets not confuse the two. Someone should have a word with the head teacher who gave condescending instructions at the beginning (Labours Tom Watson lookalike), made a foolish joke about fire escapes, managed to include a short sermon on Confirmation too and then gave us a weather report and point out that the presiding Monsignor was actually a Right Reverend. Gosh that man likes the sound of his own voice. I thought the music was uninspiring and not worthy of praise. Why do they insist on taking up collections during a Confirmation? Celebrants looked nervous and liturgy was all over the shop.

Anon @ 19:04, you ask "Why do they insist on taking up collections during a Confirmation"?

Are you asking that as a serious question? I hope it's more a rhetorical one pointing out the RC church's priorities!
(An RC priority in any parish is the PP. AKA the Parishoners' Pound!)

  29. Gates preaching on the Altar just looking for brownie points. Wonder if he has learnt his lesson and behave better. There are still a large percentage that does not welcome his return

  33. The church has become a sex club for some clergy Many people are alienated. Some not through their own fault. There are issues with parishes personnel and bishops. For some reason the tv show I Claudius comes to mind.

  35. Can't believe Fr.Gates had made a show of himself with the Children today. He was here for Confirmation. Went in hiding before First Holy Communion.Because of his bullying towards a child. What does that tell you. He carrys on as normal. What a complete bully. Thinks he can tip toe out,and tip toe back in again to this parish. What a round of applause he begs for at all Masses. Who does that wee fart think he is. It ain't over to the wee fart is blew out of town. The sooner the better would be best news in Magherafelt. The rocket launch is ready for take off tonight With Dipsey Gates, and Lala McEniffe. Pair of head the balls joint below for take off. Can't get joint any closer. What does that tell us there, Gates is "Knocking" MC Eniffe with him to the . Hopefully it will be a one way an never return...

  36. John Gates’ theology in his sermon today: He compares the Body & Blood of Christ as Gods presence with us to the presence of the people he felt with him in their many messages of support. Could anyone explain??

  37. +Pat, you've done all you can for Magherafelt, let them get on with it now.

  38. 23.15 I think Pat should and will be the judge of that, not you. Now run along.

  39. Pat says '..... when the whole country went against Catholic teaching and voted for abortion.' Back to the abacus, Pat. 100% less 33% isn't the whole country by any means. Please stop with the constant exaggeration.
