GORGEOUS LIVING IN DUBLIN PRESBYTERY

A Dublin journalist rang the office of the parish secretary of Donaghmede Parish secretary and she confirmed to them that Deacon Byrne was indeed living in a presbytery.

However, she was told not to give any details about Gorgeous to anyone and to refer such inquiries to the parish priest Father Gerard Corcoran.

So why is Gorgeous living in a presbytery? Every other seminarian I know who left the seminary went home to live in the family home until they could get a job and their own home.

Why this special treatment for Gorgeous?

Was this an arrangement made or sanctioned by Archbishop Martin?

FATHER CORCORAN

Or was it an arranged by Father  Corcoran who is reportedly a long time friend of Gorgeous?

If so did Father Corcoran run it past Archbishop Martin?

And what did Diarmuid say?

Who is paying the bills for Gorgeous' presbytery - the people of Donaghmede or the people of Dublin?

Or has Gorgeous got a patron, clerical or otherwise?

Is Gorgeous' living arrangements part of a secret deal to ordain him when things quieten down?

Is this part of a bigger deal between Gorgeous and Diarmuid- and if so what are the rest of the conditions.

We were given the impression that Gorgeous has left the priesthood path and would find another profession.

This would have required Diarmuid Martin and Gorgeous to petition Rome asking for Gorgeous' to be launched from the order of deacon.

Instead, we find Gorgeous living in a parish property in September 2018.

If Gorgeous is left his private is his own business completely.

However, if the Church is still spending the people's donations on him there are serious questions to be asked and answered.

Maybe they can't just let Gorgeous go as he has the dirt on a lot of clergy and perhaps bishops?

If so, are we dealing with some form of payments and for what?

Very strange indeed.

I shall a very big church rat or two!

British priest, 72, put two policemen in hospital after violently lashing out when he was caught groping women on a train in Italy
By George Martin For Mailonline02:10, 19 Sep 2018

The 72-year-old priest had allegedly 'repeatedly touched' two women in Rome

He was sentenced to two years and eight months house arrest the same day

A court heard on Monday he had put two Italian police officers in hospital
Father Peter Slocombe, 72, put two Italian police officers in hospital

A 72-year-old Catholic priest put two Italian policemen in hospital after he was arrested for groping women on a train in Rome on Monday.

Father Peter Slocombe, from Gloucestershire, was convicted yesterday of groping women on a Rome underground train and lashing out at officers trying to arrest him.

As part of his closed-court sentence, Slocombe was placed under house arrest at a Vatican training college in Rome for two years and eight months.

He will also pay each of the officers €5,000.

Slocombe was said to have 'repeatedly touched' two women in their 40s on the train before running off.

After being reported to police by the women and chased by a group of officers, Slocombe then broke one officer's nose and gave both men cuts and bruises.

They called for back-up before bundling the British priest, who was not wearing his robes, into a squad car at Rome's main station.

A police spokesman said: 'This guy was crazy. He was punching and kicking out at the officers.
'He kept saying he was man of the cloth and was innocent but we have witnesses who say he was touching two women on the train and the victims identified him.'

  2. Pat like you he is cleric. Michael is entitled to all that Canon Law affords to any cleric in relation to money and housing until he leaves. It does not indicate he is getting ordained. My guess is that the Archbishop is helping him back on his feet. Which is the right thing to do for a young man who gave many years of his young life to the diocese. I am a priest of Dublin diocese and I can cofirm Michael has left.

Stop with all the conspiracy theory.

  3. If it’s true that he is living in a presbytery and in receipt of such unprecedented favours and special treatment, for a former seminarian then, yes, indeed, there is something very serious amiss.

Given the scandal, chaos and confusion this man has already caused, for him to be cosseted like this would indicate that they are keeping him sweet because he has “dirt” on very big names (mitres).

Keep digging and get them all out. This is absolutely incredible. This man’s bluff needs to be called and let him name whomsoever he will - not matter how high up.

It’s time to clean house and drain the infested swamp that the Irish Church has become.

Yes, definitely, “Gorgeous” has notched a few mitred heads on his bedpost.

Another blog about this young chap? It is obnoxious obession at this point. He is an ordained deacon which means he in the clerical state. Go read a Canon Law book about that process if you want some answers.

  19. 23:44 are you one of the sugar daddies?

Many another deacon who left was not treated with similar solicitude by his bishop. He went back to his family and/or he found a job to earn a living, so he could pay rent for his own place to live etc.

His bishop said “bye bye” (if he even did) and didn’t give two hoots or a second thought to his welfare, etc. Who do you think you’re kidding, Fr at 23:44?

This man’s dismissal from the clerical state should have been expedited. He should have been dismissed from orders by now and the fact that he isn’t, that DM is affording him very special treatment, sets off red flashing alarms!

This boyo Byrne has “the dirt” and someone needs to force his hand no matter what the consequences. The swamp needs draining and every loathsome creature in it exposed and sent packing - including the mitred ones.

DM’s dilly dallying over MJ Byrne is astonishing. It does not bode well. It certainly indicates a “hold” over a man like Martin, who doesn’t usually suffer fools gladly.

Nevertheless, vice, scandal, corruption of high ecclesiastical office bearers and blackmail by what are essentially “clerical” rent boys, will be far more devastating in the long term, than any explosion and immediate fallout, caused by refusal to keep Byrne “sweet” and the continued pandering to - and pampering of - a man who shouldn’t have made it past the initial psychological assessment.

Dublin diocese urgently needs to send this man packing no matter what the fall out. DM looked miserable and preoccupied during the Pope’s visit. Something is very seriously amiss. I’m not surprised he is citing “health issues”.

I say again DRAIN THE SWAMP! The Truth shall set you free, Diarmuid.

That’s the crux of the matter and it beggars belief that this is ongoing. Mr Byrne needs to return to civilian life and get a job like every one else, to earn his way in the world. 30. Michael played his own small but significant part in prompting the necessary crisis in the priesthood. To his credit he was upfront about his sexuality, as denial regarding sex and sexuality is at the heart of the crisis, which the Church is still trying not to face. There is no going back for the Church, though some desperately try to hang onto that false model. Would Michael want to transform himself into the typical closeted cleric even if he had the choice? It would be good if with mature discernment in a few years he could talk publically about his experiences: that would be his true ministry. I wish him well on his journey.

  33. 'It's codology asking men to be a priest and to be celibate' - Fr Brian D'Arcy

"I think it's an utter wrong theology of sexuality for a start. It's also a wrong insight into the psychology of development.

"Living as I do, in a community of men, I honestly know that it has taken very hard work and labour to remain normal and be a celibate."

    1. That last sentence sounds distinctly odd. Sort of revealing something or other not said before. A kind of epiphany.

      You do, don't you? 😕

I don't remember her having a son on the show, though.

  35. Indeed I do, Mommie Dearest. But I don't recall her ever feeding the blessed thing. I'm starting to wonder whether 'pussy' was some sort of double entendre.

If the truth be known, I think she no more had a pussycat than a son.

  41. Michael said in 2013:

“I don’t take anything for granted. I don’t say I’m definitely going to be ordained in a couple of years. But it’s wonderful, waking up every day as a part of the community. It sets a real sense of where God is in your life.”

Celibacy is often cited as a major deterrent to becoming a priest but he says he doesn’t worry about that.

“I worry more about being perfect because we are all called to be perfect and that’s all I try to do.”

So 1) he was aware ordination was not definite, for whatever reason only he knew; 2) did not commit to saying he would stay celibate.

    Perfect at what exactly?

    1. His theology is very deep here. Jesus did not ask us to be celibate he asked us to be perfect like our heavenly father is perfect.

Do not underestimate the theology he is applying to his life here.

  42. I have just noticed that a Greek Orthodox Church has opened near me. I felt quite drawn to it until I noticed that their scandals are worse than ours. A 91 year old bishop was caught on film frolicking with a nubile young woman and a lot of their priests are gay and sexually active. Perhaps I have just expected far too much from the clergy!!

  44. Father Peter Slocombe was convicted in a closed court of sexual violence and injuring a public official.
He attacked the woman, 40, on Sunday and injured the officers as they tried to arrest him, Italian police say.
Slocombe, 73 and of Gloucestershire, denied the charges but was found guilty and sentenced on Tuesday.
At the hearing he was told he would be detained under house arrest at the Pontifical Beda College in Rome for two years and eight months.
He must also pay the officers, who needed hospital treatment for their injuries, 5,000 euros each.
Clifton Diocese, which covers his parish, said it believed Slocombe was on holiday at the time of the attack and expects an internal investigation to take place.
Slocombe was ordained in Rome and graduated from Beda College in 1978.
He has been parish priest at Saint Nicholas' Church in Winchcombe for more than 10 years, and parish priest for St Joseph's in Tewkesbury since 2013.
He is also chaplain to the University of Gloucester.

Michael is a very troubled man and has a well known history of jumping into bed with married women. I'm told by priests in Clare the man is a loose canonn.

  50. Bishop Buckley there is three active predator seminarians in Theology. Two from a northern diocese and one is from Kerry. These seminarians are the cause and source for so much pain and abuse. A junior seminarian was abused on two separate incidents. First incident was getting this young man drunk and then an advancement proceeded. Second most serious incidnet occurred when a seminarian from a northern dioceses went into his room and had sex with him. The scary bit was this predator went cold turkey when his boyfriend seminarian disappeared for a full week. wink wink. Mullaney had to intervene and contacted this seminarian's parents to bring him back to seminary.

  52. Pat i have checked with my seminary contacts in Europe and America and they are amazed at the level of abuse in Maynooth . They are shocked with the broken wrist sexual incident. All seminaries have their problems but the Maynooth broken wrist story is just brutal. The level of physical force required Mark to have multiple surgeries in a private hospital in Dublin. Pain infliction must be a turn on for Moriarty.

  59. THE CAMPAIGN TO FREE FATHER PETER SLOCOMBE
    BY CHRISTMAS GAINS MOMENTUM

Evidence is emerging that Cotswold Parish priest of 40 years Father Peter Slocombe has been the victim of a scam on the Metro in Rome. Viviana Golisano has falsely accused him of molestation on a crowded train in the morning rush hour on Monday 17 September 2018. After being forcibly arrested and thrown into notorious Rebibbia prison (a cell without a toilet) – a summary trial took place the next day condemning Father Peter to imprisonment for over 2 years.
Italian criminal defence lawyer Avv Lina Cerideo was replaced on 21 September 2018 by Avv. Nicola Caricaterra who has successfully secured Father Peter’s release to a religious house in Rome but he is not yet permitted to come home to the Cotswolds as investigations continue.
The Roman Catholic Clifton Diocese has fully supported Father Peter. Vicar General, Reverend Monsignor Canon Liam Slattery has personally spearheaded the campaign to establish Father Peter’s innocence and return to the Cotswolds.

Laurence Robertson MP for Tewkesbury is leading the political campaign to free Father Peter and he has enlisted the support of Alex Chalk MP for Cheltenham who is a criminal barrister. Vervent support from the many outraged parishioners of Father Peter in these constituencies has led to an escalation of this campaign locally and nationally.
Minister for Europe Alan Duncan MP has written to the Italian Ambassador Raffaele Trombetta. Mr Duncan is monitoring further investigations by the Embassy in Rome headed by Geraldine Williams Vice Consul and former broadcast journalist for the Today programme on Radio 4.
