IRISH RC CHURCH GOING TO ALL BUT COLLASPE

WHAT HAPPENS IN THE USA NOW ALWAYS HAPPENS SOMETIME LATER IN IRELAND.

Today we are watching the collapse of the RC church in the USA.

- cardinals, archbishops and bishops being shown up to have taken sexual advantage of seminarians and priests.

- The same cardinals, archbishops and bishops covering up for each other's sexual and corruption misdeeds.

- the laity walking away from the church because they see no hope of change coming - that necessary change being resisted by the cardinals, archbishops, bishops and clergy.

Several American priest friends of mine have told me that their church is in meltdown.

They have also said that this meltdown is happening at a shocking speed.

IRELAND:

This is the situation in Ireland.

1. Some of the Irish bishops are sexually compromised and are not in a position to tackle the sexually active priests and seminarians as a result.

2. The Irish bishops as a body are aware of the things that are happening in Maynooth and in dioceses but they are afraid to move in case taking one brick (prick) out of the wall will cause the wall to collapse.

3. Senior members of the Irish clergy - at home and abroad - are being sexually served by young men with church connections acting as gay escorts.

4. A small number of senior members of the clergy are being blackmailed by a small number of young men with whom they had sex.

5. The public is aware of the altar sex incident in Cloyne, the Rory and McCamley situations in Armagh and the Gorgrous and Irish College cases.

6. In many dioceses there are actively gay clerical "couples".

7. There are priests openly living with their gay partners and these situations are being ignored by the bishops.

8. Recently a bishop offered one of these priests with a gay lay partner a five figure sum if he left the priesthood.

9. Priests are quite openly visiting gay saunas in Dublin, Belfast, London and abroad when they are on holidays.

10. There are hundreds of priests with profiles on Grindr.

All of this will become public in time and the Irish people will be shocked at the level of corruption in the Irish presbyterate.

The Emperor Napoleon once said to a cardinal:

"I'm going to destroy the Church of Rome".

The cardinal replied:

"We priests have been trying to do that for hundreds of years".

People's lack of education and the lack of a massive media saved the church from its priests

Now people are more educated and we have a massive investigative media.

This total near collapse of the Irish Church will be played out on our TV and computer screens.

A small rump "church" may remain?

But that is what it will be - a rump.

The bishops and clergy have been behaving like a bunch of monkeys.

The only problem with that is:

"The higher a monkey climbs the more you see of his ass".

  2. There's nothing showing this blog comment authorship so I assume it's by you Pat.
The asssertions, while mostly generally recognised, are not supported (within the comment) by evidence. As such they may well be dismissed as a disgruntled's biased perspective.
Bear in mind Pat, that while your supporters understand what/why you so comment, others will ridicule an obvious lack of evidence.

    2. 09.40: Pat, those of us, and we are many, who stay in the Church as priests have been experiencing accelerating changes for the last 3 decades or more. You are not the only possessor of observation or "insight". What I and many priests are doing is to respond on the ground in our parishes to make them.places of real gospel living, small communities imbued with the spirit of CHRIST. Inspired by the early Christian church we try to keep that template before us always, strengthened by the Eucharist, charitable work, prayerful gatherings and social celebrations. Remaining constant to this simple approach keeps Christ's memory SACRED and relevant. I think this way forward in our present crisis is commendable where evident and practised. The sneering, judgmental remarks levelled at all the clergy is offensive and anathema to our following of Christ. Pat should really look to his own house first! It's not exactly glowing for the lost, weary and anxious!!

  3. I hope everything will be revealed its very unfair to all of the wonderful priests that are working so hard. Some men in their eighties are so dedicated and are still working very hard. Time to sort out the chaff.

  4. Bp Pat, you have been predicting the collapse of the Church in Ireland for some time now.

Before the recent papal visit, Marie Collins assessed the state of the Church in Ireland as, “... basically, the church has fallen over a cliff, its moral authority is completely destroyed... respect for the church, trust in the church gone.”

I think her assessment suggests the Church in Ireland has already collapsed and cannot recover.

Moreover, the fact the hierarchy can now only send you legal letters with no follow up also indicates the collapse of the Church in Ireland is fait accompli.

  5. Sorry Bishop Pat to change the subject. I've just heard about Fr Gates in Magherafelt and a massive bust up with a Fr Murray - do you know him? Archbishop Martin involved. Fr Gatrs wont allow him to say Mass in the parish.

  6. I think it's to do with not allowing Fr Murray to say the Months Mind Mass of his neighbour. Fr Gates didn't visit the sick man or showed any interest but Fr Murray did apparently visit and went to the Royal Hospital to see him. A lot of Ill feeling over this.

    1. PS: Why not organise an alternative Mass in Magherafelt for those parishioners not wanting g to attend Fr. Gates.

I and one of my priest colleagues would help out.

    2. The people of Magherafelt know that you are a sect not part of the Holy Mother Church.

You are not that stupid Pat you know that everyone at the Oratory is outside the Holy Mother Church however someday you will return to the true fold.

    4. 10.21: Buckley, don't you dare interfere in another parish's business. You should mind your own business. You always seek to better yourself abusing other people's difficulties. You have no moral integrity. None. Stay in your cow shed. Stop harrasding and bullying thriugh your bl8g. If Fr. Gates is disliked, eventually he will be moved. But you are an interfering trouble maker, not for the first time. Get lost and stay away from Maghearafelt.

    5. I was invited to interfere in Magherafelt by parishioners.

I would be happy to have an alternative Mass there at the weekend.

  7. 00.28: I agree with your comments, MMM. Pat rarely provides researched data to support his theories and supposed learning. Any one of us can make generalised statements but the ramblings of Pat's comments suggests a lazy, imbalanced, biased and prejudiced piece of writing. I inow the daily challenges being faced on the ground. I live it. I witness it every day. While I understand the anger, frustration and concerns of some Catholics, sadly, in modern Ireland, people have clearly decided they've had enough and also many are totally indifferent and apathetic. Yes, there are some who want a "spirituality" to guide them but they search elsewhere or turn to nature walks, yoga, mindfulness. I believe in a faith of "tolerance", "mutual respect", "dialogue of ideas and visions" - a more amenable way to build a different community while never seeking to destroy the faith, religious beliefs, humanism, atheism or spirituality (in the broader meaning) of others. Pat can articulate simplistic, simple soundbytes all he likes but one thing I know for certain, from the sky, there aren't worn out pathways leadibg to The Oratory!! I see lots making for the beautiful mountains of Mourne! Pat, time to make more real the parousia you promise. Then I'll join You! In the meantime, do some intelligent research.

  9. I don't think you might know Fr Murray but he visited my Mother in Hospital and there was no fuss. He wouldn't want attention but goes about things quietly. If it's true what Fr Gates has done to him I find it appalling not allowing him to celebrate a Mass for his neighbour. His parents are very quiet and dignified people and I would say they are very upset about this. My next door neighbour told me about this internet thing and I was shocked to read this, truly shocked.

    1. Fr Murray is twisted . Nolan show parasite. He has a temper. Has to have his own way. Who would blame Fr Gates from keeping him away. Although Fr Gates and Fr Eamon Murray where very great pals last Christmas, did Murray not do Masses then ?.

    2. @16.36.Your comment about Fr.Eamon is an absolute disgrace. I went to school with Fr.Eamon and knew him for years. Fr.Eamon is not a Parasite,Twisted or has,or had a temper. How dare you make these stupid idiotic remarks about a priest or any other Person. Fr.Eamon is the most kindest Person and a good friend. Maybe if you had been to mass today as I have had with my wife and children you would have known today the Feast of Christ The King. So what religion do you have. You would rather mock a Priest. As they say God will judge you. Don't judge others.

  14. Pat. I’m sorry to say but as a man who was brought up in a devout and practising catholic family In Ballymena I have now got to the stage where I trust very few catholic priests as so many of them live a lie. As for bishops, and I’ve met many, I wouldn’t give them the light of day. Sad!

  16. Sign the petition in the car park tonight and tomorrow get rid of the PP. Fr Gates' manipulative behaviour has meant he has suddenly announced his own petition this weekend against abortion. How sick is this man? Not announced in advance but suddenly when the petition is against him. Evil evil man.

  17. 14.47: You belong to a bandwagon of hatred too All the sentiments expressed here against Fr. Gates have elements of a vicious, mob lynch mentality. It's disgusting, as disgusting as the alleged behaviour of Fr. Gates! But you're so morally blind, you can't spot that. Nothing sick about being anti abortion, which is the deliberate taking of unborn human life.

    ReplyDelete
  18. As a Parishioner of Magherafelt. It's a complete waste of time signing a Petition against abortion. If you take for instance the south of Ireland,s referendum on abortion well what was the outcome. But what I can't understand is how there are two petitions been signed for At Mass tonight, and tomorrow. One against abortion and the other for Fr.Gates to be removed from this Parish. So it's going to be busy with signing for both. I wonder how they expect everyone to queue up for two different petitions. I'm sure the carpark as I heard was for Fr.Gates petition.

    3. 16.25: Pat, if that comment about a petition to "abirt" Gates is meant as humour, It's very black and awful. Used in so casual a manner about a living human being displays your defunct moral values and your typical "blow with the wind" theology but also a complete disrespect for the dignity and sacredness of human life, born and unborn. What's new in your world!!

  24. Talking of baptisms, the permanent deacon in Enniskillen wears a cope to do baptisms. I always thought the cope was a Eurcharistic vestment and I've never seen a priest dressed like that for a baptism. He loves dressing up.

    1. From the Rite of Baptism:

"Meanwhile the celebrating priest or deacon, vested in alb or surplice, with a stole (with or without a cope) of festive color, and accompanied by the ministers, goes to the entrance of the church or to that part of the church where the parents and godparents are waiting with the child."

      Easy to look up online.

    2. Most deacons like the new power they have. They think they do a better job than priests. More fool then. They are not as popular as they think. People don't like a show just straight forward baptisms. Get the hint deacons.

  25. They all love dressing up in Enniskillen. They spend more money on vestments in that parish than the rest of the diocese combined! A bunch of fairies. The only sensible ones there are the new young curate and Joe Mc Veigh.
