MANY BLOG READERS MISTAKINGLY THOUGHT THAT THE DEACON ASSISTING DERMOT MARTIN AT LAST TUESDAY'S ORDINATION IN DUBLIN'S PRO-CATHEDRAL WAS MICHAEL JACK "GORGEOUS" BYRNE.
In fact, the deacon assisting DM was ????
Also assisting was Conor Gannon of The Irish College in Rome.
Also assisting was Conor Gannon of The Irish College in Rome.
As you can see there is no resemblance between Byrne and Gannon.
The mistake was made as the webcam in the Pro-Cathedral was at the back of the church.
Before entering the priesthood Conor Gannon qualified in Dublin as a barrister.
He is also an accomplished musician.
His online CV says:

DUBLIN ORDINATIONS

Someone, on behalf of Maynooth, is working away trying to have all google references to the MAYNOOTH GAY SCANDAL removed from Google.
Below are listed their latest attempts:
http://wisecatholic.blogspot.ie/2016/08/maynooth-bishops-statement.html
http://wisecatholic.blogspot.ie/2016/08/maynooth-new-rules.html
http://wisecatholic.blogspot.ie/2016/08/maynooth-scandal-deepens.html
Do they really think that they will be able to wipe out the memory of the MAYNOOTH GAY SCANDAL from the minds of EVERYONE in Ireland and the world by taking down a few blogs from Google?
Maynooth is now a byword in the Irish and international church and world for scandal.
Its days are numbered!

Conor Gannon is not a Deacon.
ReplyDeleteSorry. I thought he was.
DeleteHe was just assisting DM on Tuesday.
Can anyone tell us who the deacon was as many thought it was Gorgeous.
Not a Deacon? Or not the deacon.
DeleteNot a deacon AND not the deacon.
DeleteThe deacon was Robert Smyth
DeleteBuyer beware!
DeleteWhat do you mean, 11:59?
DeleteFr Ronan Drury has died, RIP.
DeleteThey're hoping people will forget and Maynooth will continue. Seriously out of touch.
ReplyDeleteMaynooth is firmly and finally established as unsuitable as a seminary.
DeleteDiarmuids Martin gave it the kiss of death last year.
Of course DM's motivations very very, very mixed.
Pat, you wrote;
ReplyDelete"Conor is also very highly regarded by Diarmuid Martin - whom we all know is a very good judge of character."
Perhaps I am reading too much into this but that seems to be a veiled stinging comment? Is it?
Quod scripsi,scripsi.
DeleteConor was assisting the Mass as a server with Frank Drescher (a German) who "left" Maynooth and unsuccessfully tried the Dominican order. He was then reaccepted back into Dublin!
DeleteThat seems a lot of going and coming.
DeleteSt Dominic, pray for us.
DeleteThe Dominicans allowed a few unsavoury characters through to ordination.

DeleteNOT ALL COMMENTS RECEIVED TODAY CAN BE PUBLISHED OR PUBLISHED IN THEIR ENTIRETY FOR VARIOUS REASONS. PLEASE BE PATIENT WITH MY EDITORIAL JUDGEMENTS. ALL COMMENTS WILL BE SAFELY KEPT AND NOTED.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me +Pat that over the past 18 months you are creating a very large jig saw. I, for one, trust your timing and way of proceeding. I understand why you cannot, at present, publish my own comment of earlier today.Dublin PP.
DeleteThank you.
DeleteYou bloggers are all serious trouble makers, acting childishly, irresponsibly and recklessly. Look into your own feeble, sinful hearts.
ReplyDeleteHello Conor! Nice of you to join us feeble sinners :-)

Pat I'm loving this post. Throwing in being a barrister after one year after all that education? First degree, MA, law conversion, now seminary. Are his family rich?
He has benefactors.
DeleteWhen not in Rome, Conor Gannon occasionally assists Fr Des Doyle at Dublin Airport.
ReplyDelete11:31
DeleteBed and Breakfast too?
Full board :-)
DeleteI wouldn't mind being assisted by Conor.
DeleteIn the 1980s it was more or less compulsory to be gay if you wanted to join the College Choir, later renamed, controversially the College Chapel Choir. Many a late night was spent in Junior Infirmary by the choir boyz, many of whom subsequently earned ecclesiastical distinction.
Delete19.07
DeleteNonsense! In 1980s Maynooth one would have had to cut voluntarily or otherwise if it were suspected one was involved in gay activity. Lots of examples spring to mind.
22:09 maynooth ain't like that now. It's a gay institution.
DeleteFr Frank Duhig, the respected Junior Dean in the mid 80s, despatched, without ceremony, a Kilmore seminarian whom the Guards had caught entertaining another gentleman in the public loos in the town.
DeleteWell Frank the night watchman (not Frank Duhig) had a quare story involving the Junior Infirmary and a very distinguished member of the College Choir.
DeleteThe same Frank had a lot of stories.
DeleteHow do you explain then the 1980s era seminarian who was ordained and died of AIDs? A midlands diocese.
DeleteThe imbicilic obsession with students, deacons, priests and bishops would mske an interesting psychological study case. There is a perversion of sexuality in this obsession as there is in acts of sexual abuse. I abhor the morally reprehensible evil of sexual abuse. The repeated narrative of sleazy innuendo and gossipy speculation speaks of minds that are intellectually and emotionally retarded. The contrived "supposed concern" for the well being of the Church is simply a fig leaf to attack with hatred and vile all that is Catholic, including Priesthood.
ReplyDeleteIs the homosexualisation of the priesthood Catholic?
DeleteIs being sexually active in the seminary Catholic?
Is a priest showing his "bits" on Grindr Catholic?
Is a priest masturbating on line Catholic?
Is hounding heterosexuals out of seminary Catholic?
etc, etc, etc.............
If it is then who is intellectually and emotionally retarded?
Who is vile?
11:41, the most dangerous and gravest attack upon priests and priesthood currently is from within the Church herself, from unworthy and unsuitable men in the seminaries being allowed to be ordained. Places sadly like Maynooth full of scandal.
DeleteThe worst assault upon the Church is immoral priests and bishops who are faithless. Hirelings who have no care for the Lord’s flock and ravening wolves who would devour it.
And when rats like you, 11:41, are cornered you attack viciously and clutch at straws because your number has been called.
But how could the priesthood be de-homosexualised? It is beyond the bounds of possibility, it's steeped in homosexuality.
DeletePat, don't always believe your own self righteousness and feel you are the only one who speaks the TRUTH. There are those who speak about truth and there are those who live the truth! I endeavour to do the latter but would never be so haughty as to think I never fail or make mistakes. And I never find contentment by comparing my life against others. Ultimately I believe God is our final judge and in the meantime I strive to live in his expectation of me. But always relying on HIS grace, not mine. It ensures that I don't develop a holier than thou attitude or I that I do not deliberately or maliciously hurt, demean or slander others!
DeleteImbilic is not the correct spelling, surely?
Delete11:41 is a priest or seminarian who is compromised!
ReplyDeleteInteresting musical connections between today's blog and yesterday's. The Pro Cathedral and Maynooth Monsignor (?) Gillen. So Conor played with the organ for the pro cathedral girls choir? What ever happened to that priest at the Pro who had a run in with an organist there who also had a legal training?
ReplyDeleteThe relentless obsession with all matters of a sexual nature involving clerics - which have been rehearsed here ad nauseam - is an insight into another perversion of the human mind. You spend your life Pat trawling through the sexual misdemeanours of others. I absolutely condemn any behaviour whuch is contrary to the integrity of priesthood. I also condemn the sin but would have gospel mercy for the sinner. Using the sinful behaviour of others for sinister purposes, as you do Pat, is not a game I play for some kind of self aggrandizement or inner gratification. While I disapprove of all that is un Christlike, I try as a lay person to work for the betterment of the Church I belong to and in which I am involved, and for the good of people at all times. You, Pat are equally sinful, imperfect and make many errors of judgment, so take the splinter out of your own eyes first. 11.41 - you are wrong on both! I thank God for the deep human goodness of the priests and religious of my parish whose dedication is an inspiration to all.
ReplyDeleteTell us more about this priest at the Pro? It never ends there does it?
ReplyDeleteThe monsignor didnt like the priest at the Pro either, but wasnt too pleased at the young organist blowing the whistle on the the unwelcome advances from Father. Best to keep these things in the family and protect the reputation
ReplyDeleteNonsense at 13.17. Frankie Lee is teaching in a school near Atholone. It might be someplace beginning with M, i think. Is there a school called Mote?
ReplyDeleteSchool beginning with M near Athlone you say??
DeleteThe Marist secondary school perhaps? It's a boys'school out here in Cannonsfield
.There is Moate primary school in Westmeath.
DeletePat, I see that Pope Francis has called with Sunday a special day for focus on the poor.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering what the Oratory Church for it's outreach programme to help the poor? I think it's a fair enough question to ask.
The Bishop of Rome hath no jurisdiction over Bishop Patrick’s oratory.
DeleteNot such a fair question!
Good suggestion. I feel we won't hear much about it, Pat tends to be a bit quiet about his own church.
DeletePerhaps free Zumba classes.
DeletePat has often housed a homeless
DeleteHave you ?
Fair question
None of us should ever parade our good works.
DeleteThe Oratory has an open door policy for all.
Homeless people have been housed and rehoused.
Heroine addicts have been detoxed here.
There is a continual concentration on the hungry, thirsty, the sick, the imprisoned and strangers.
This is all done quietly for God's sake.
Suppose a collection then called for by the pope !!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo that another charity can scam the poor giving churchgoers.
What do u mean by focus
ReplyDelete....prayer or money?
Pat can we not sign a petition to put pressure on maynooth/rome to act in the best interest?
ReplyDeleteNot a chance!
DeletePat, Buckley is a byword among the Hierachy for 'nuts'.
ReplyDeleteFunny blog today and odd connections. Someone mentioned Athlone there. funny, i was there a while back and who did I see coming out of his fancy new apartment but the bould Frankie Lee of happy memory. To cap it all he had a woman in tow. Don't know who she was, but they used to say in Galway that he kept a fag hag called Dee. Maybe it was she? But what's he doing living in Athlone by the Radisson? We never thought he would desert us in Galway. Does anyone know what he's up to now? Someone said he was working as a builder in Dublin.
ReplyDeleteWhat's up with Galway? Sounds like there are a lot of priests leaving or taking "sabbaticals".
DeleteHave you heard anything, Pat?
Constant reports.
DeleteXxx xxxxxxx has been spotted in gay bars in Rome. Tut Tut.
ReplyDelete16 25
ReplyDeleteAnd the hierarchy are so well thought of....N O ?
16.20. Pat might well be a byword for nuts among the hierarchy but boy has he caused them some distress! No matter how much they may pretend they ignore him or how much they pretend it’s business as usual he has them running scared. Quite frankly he has turned many diocese upside down, exposed Maynooth and exposed the shambles that Armagh has become. None of this would have been in the public domain had it not been for Pat Buckley. So, my friend, long may he expose hypocrisy.
ReplyDeleteAnd Amen to that 17:55!
DeleteOn one occasion near Lyon there was a clerical conference at which was present Father John (now Saint) John Vianney.
DeleteOne of the priests stood up a d said to the bishop: "My Lord, Father Vianney is mad.
After a silence the bishop replied: "I wish the rest of you were half as mad".
Those who are really mad are often those who cannot recognise the truth.
"In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king!
EXPOSURE!
DeleteTo shine a light in places dark,
among the shadows where they park
their secrets shrink, for running scared,
now in the open, someone dared.
Complacency has had its day.
For bishop Pat won't 'go away.'
MMM
Very true Pat. Very true indeed. Human beings seem to have this collective quirk of staying stubbornly in denial even when the truth is staring them in the face.
DeleteThe Very Revd Gerard Gillen, Titular Organist, is not a Domestic Prelate. He's a mere Vicar Forane and Auxiliary Bishop of Blanchardstown. Please try to keep up at the back.
ReplyDeleteMr. Gannon has worked under him
DeleteAssiduously, by all accounts.
DeleteI think it's you @19.39 who needs to "keep up" as you put it...
DeleteWe couldn't care less what he is!
ReplyDeleteSo u post as we
DeleteTry thinking for yourself sometime.
You might just find a sentence or 2
You too (or in your case, clearly "you" and "two")
DeleteAnd yes, we're all agreed on that!
Any long term member of the Pro music department could tell a tale or ten. But will they?
ReplyDeleteNo way!
DeleteDid Gerard Gillen ever marry? Probably not.
DeleteNot the marrying type. Typical organist. The organ comes first, always.
DeleteGerard Gillen is married with a grown up family!
DeleteGerard Gillen is married. He has three grown up sons and eight grandchildren. Shameful the disgraceful innuendo on this blog poisonously tainting all in sight!
Delete@20.52
DeleteWhy, with regard to GĂ©rard Gillen being married, do you say "Probably not.".
I don't understand why you said that when you appear to know so little about our family.
I'm totally confused. How can Gerard Gillen be simultaneously a monsignor, titular organist, professor emeritus, father of three sons and a grandfather. How is that possible?
DeleteHe isn't. Don't believe all the lies (Buyer beware.. remember)
DeleteSpeaking of deacons the story of Rev Deacon Brian Bromberger is interesting. He is pro-gay.
ReplyDeleteCG is a saint. Leave him alone Pat!!!
ReplyDeleteWho prays at the shrine of St George.
DeleteMe.... me too!.... and me... There's a horse for every market, don't y'know.
DeleteRonan Drury has died aged 93 RIP
ReplyDelete95 I think.
Delete+Pat
ReplyDeleteConor Gannon was seen running into the rector of the Irish College's bedroom for a 'chat'. You are doing something right. Keep up the good work.
