IS FATHER GATES RETURNING TO MAGHERAFELT - JUNE 10TH

MAGHERAFELT PARISHIONERS TOLE ME OVER THE WEEKEND THAT IT WAS ANNOUNCED IN THE CHURCHES THERE THIS WEEKEND THAT JOHN GATES IS COMING BACK TO MAGHERAFELT FOR JUNE 10TH SO THAT HE CAN CELEBRATE THE ANNUAL MASS ROCK MASS OUTSIDE THE TOWN?

Meanwhile, there are still complaints about Father Gates' treatment of people arriving daily on this Blog and by email address.

In one sense, it's really irrelevant whether Gates come back or not - although the people I am in touch with do not want him back!

But if he does come back, at least there is now a public Blog and a group of people who will be watching things and continue to collect and process complaints.

This Blog will certainly keep a keen interest in what's happening in Magherafelt for the foreseeable future.

There are also others, including a small number of journalists, who are aware of the way things have been in the town - and who will be watching how things work out.

I must say that Father Gates publishes very unusual pictures on his Facebook page - pictures that suggest he has a massive interest in himself, his photographs and activities.

    2. I am sure you are worried Pat...you love to stir the s..t any opportunity you can when it comes to Catholic church..

    3. @21.28 I think you will find it was Fr Gates who stirred the sh*t first by treating people like sh*t and speaking to them as if they where sh*t.

  2. Yes, the Mass Rock Mass in Glenshane Forest. Some pray that when Fr. Gates gets up there he will stay up there because he will have no one to bully except the trees.

  3. At least the photos are not offensive. I hope the Fr Gates issue is resolved appropriately. It is more about the bishops people management skills than about an individual person. Would this happen in the police NHS or any other body. How might they proceed

  4. I don’t know this Fr Gate but these pictures are a little worrying. What sort of statement is this sending out? Not a very positive, impressionable or healthy one I would suggest. It tells us more about the person and his personality. Why is he always pictured with that man? That’s not very healthy either because they leave themselves wide open to all sorts of interpretations. It shows a level of immaturity and narcissism, a craving for the admiration of others and a degree of self centredness. Perhaps it’s a case of narcissistic personality disorder which could indicate an underlying mental disorder.

    1. Are you honestly that naive? Fr. Gates didn't make or post these photos. Pat has made them especially for his blog. He's clearly so busy.

    2. They are on FATHER GATES Facebook page!!!

    3. 09.13 You are the foolish naive person because if you look at John Gates on Facebook he has posted numerous silly pictures on his own page.

    4. @10:15 Foolish?! Would you ever go away and wise up.

    5. @13.25 After your post earlier @09.13 I’m surprised you have the nerve to come back on here because you were made to look not only a fool but a twat also.

  5. Archbishop Martin has refused to meet our group in Magherafelt when he visits on 3rd June. It seems he does not want to address the issue of Fr. Gates nor comment on it. As a result of this we have agreed to take our peaceful protest inside the Church on 3rd June as he has chosen not to meet us before or after the Confirmation.

    1. Don't worry, just like Pat Buckley, Archbishop Eamon does have security around him too. Protesters won't get near.

      Delete
    2. 8:12 Eamon Martin has his own security team and arrives at difficult situations in a blacked out black Range Rover like the Royal Family. You will not get near him.

      Delete
    3. 10:55, 'security team'? 'Blacked out black Range Rover like the Royal Family'?

Guess who's paying for this show of vanity and power?

      C'mon. All together now: BAAAAAAA!🐑

    4. Amy does go around in a black Range Rover lol with a driver and two heavies paid for by the laity. I think the difference with +Pat is that Pat drives himself, I think, but his security is paid for out of his own pocket.

      Delete
    5. She arrived in Middletown recently in a black Landrover? Why cant Amy drive herself?

      Delete
    6. 11:11, you know what they say, don't you?

'You get what you pay for.'

But with Roman Catholic so-called 'prelates', the quality of the goods is inversely proportional to the amount paid for them: the more is paid, the poorer the calibre of the person in return.😆

I don't think anyone could sensibly arrgue that Eamon Martin is worth every penny spent on him.😅

Poor, stupid laity. Donating their money so that self-glorying imbeciles like Martin can swan around in a celebrity lifestyle.

No doubt Jesus is proud of Martin's self-effacing example.

And no doubt Jesus is equally proud of his 'sheep', the laity, for being so undiscerning on how they donate their money...to such unworthy, and gross worldly, causes as Eamon Martin.

      BAAAAAA!🐑

  6. The Nolan Show will be running a story on all of this on Tuesday or Wednesday morning. Some people were interviewed after Mass yesterday in the parish, many didn’t want to get involved. This situation is getting out of control and Armagh needs to step in after all this time.

  7. Should a priest be promoting gambling?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. 10:53, I don't see why not. After all, they've promoted just about everything else you can think of.😆

With the exception of God, of course?😆

    2. Father Gates seems to be able to do what he likes. Gambling seems to be far MORE important than GOD. Time for a change and the priest and his side kick should be let go from the Parish and every day Parish Life.

  8. This McEniff (his nickname) is not very well liked in the parish. He only came on the scene when Gates arrived in town and it seems they are almost joined at the hip. McEniff controls the parish bingo which is why some choose to boycott it, he takes all parish news straight back to Gates and he can do no wrong in Gates’ eyes. He swaggers about thinking he owns the parish and I think there should be more scrutiny, transparency and accountability when it comes to the parish bingo.

    1. Since his student days, John Gates was extremely EXTREMELY immature. He hasn’t grown up and he never will now. He is in his 50’s.

He obviously sees himself and this McEniff boyo as something akin to Laurel and Hardy, or Morcambe and Wise.

So self-absorbed that they cannot see how utterly ridiculous they are! Bloody eejits! It would indeed be funny if it weren’t having such consequences of destruction and division in the community.

This man will never have the brains and maturity to give the quality of pastoral leadership that is required in a large parish like Magherafelt.

The ordination of a lot of these guys was a huge mistake. As the pope said, they are ‘mortgages for life’ on the Church. Useless clowns.

    2. @12.30 Thank you for hitting the nail right on the head with your wise observations. It’s not just people in the parish then, thank goodness, that views this comedy duo with disdain and which has caused scandal for sometime. Many are glad that this has come to a head and people are finding the confidence to speak out despite the fear. Immaturity is a big issue here bordering on incompetence and lack of people skills. This is a big parish in the Archdiocese worthy of a Priest who can lead whilst showing humility, respect and compassion. I’m afraid the Archbishop is partly to blame and really does need to show leadership of his own now and appoint a new PP as soon as possible. Allowing the status quo to continue will cause irrevocable damage to the parish, diocese and wider Church. Take action Archbishop Martin and take it now.

  11. Anytime Archbishop Martin came to my Parish, he drove himself in a black Volkswagen. He never had security or any of that nonsense.

These protesters who are taking their protest into the Church are going to ruin the day for the children of the Parish. How dare they. No matter what is going on, there is no need to destroy the occasion by doing that.

  12. This McEniff better known as Martin Loughran is very well known in the Magherafelt area. You will also see him walking his 2 dogs on a daily basis up and down the Castledawson Road. He also thinks he runs the Derry GAA aye right he is far to mouthy and fat for that.

    1. Yes, I see McEniff walking his dogs every day but he also drives a flash BMW. He seems to park this car wherever he likes at the Chapel during weekday Mass, whereas Fr. Gates would chase anyone else who parked in the same places. He also brags to people he runs the O’ Donovan Rossa Club and is in charge of the bingo.

    2. 13.44: Like many other commentators, you seem like an old maid, frilly knickers, knitting in hand, lace curtains, china teacup, with little to do except gossip. And gossip, as we know, leads to dangerous, unfounded rumours. Were you to keep such an eye on my movements, I'd set my Rottweiler on you, you silly old gossiper. And if you're a man, you're still an old maid with such vacuous, inane, insignificant observations. Put your curlers in and off to bed with you, knickers and all....

    3. @20.15 Is this the best you can do? Yawn! You’ve been on using the term old maid before haven’t you? Same old boring analogies about lace curtains etc, do you not get bored using the same old examples because we are equally bored reading them. It didn’t stop you sticking your nose in to read the comments, I wouldn’t be bothered watching your movements so don’t have any high expectations of yourself. People like you are classic, projecting your own inadequacies and inferiority complex on to others. Jog on when you've finished reading the latest gossip, get back to reading The Sun.

    4. 21.35: Who is the royal "we" you speak of? Are you another Valley of the Squinting Windows type too and can't bear being termed a gossip? Obviously I stung you with my earlier comments. Your attempts at psychological analysis is abysmal. What's The Sun? Is that the rag mag for squinting window types? I prefer the Times, thank you. I've never suffered from an inferiority complex, ever, thankfully.

  13. @13.02 Archbishop Martin only has security when there is problem situations in problem parishes. It seems to me that this protest can be easily avoided if the Archbishop simply communicated wth this group. It’s not hard to reply to a letter or pick up a phone, is it? If there is a protest, which seems very likely, then the Archbishop has himself to blame and the media will be there with their cameras.

  16. I think Bishop Eamon Martin needs to contact this group in Magherafelt before Confirmation day. I don't want my daughter's day ruined and if it is I will be holding Fr Gates and Bishop Martin fully responsible. Can he not meet a few representatives of the group in Armagh at least.

  20. Delighted to hear that Father Gates will be returning to our Parish. Myself and everyone I’ve spoken to, would’ve loved to have seen him back in time for Confirmation. Trusting in God that all the good work he has done in the Parish will be rewarded. We are all human and people of God, we must remember that always.

    1. Actually the "Majority" of Magherafelt parish don't want Fr.Gates back. The work that was done in the parish didn't come out of Fr.gates pocket. It was the parishioners pockets. You must have a very, very short memory of the damage Fr.Gates has done to members of this parish who attended this church for years. The hurt an pain he has caused to the elderly above all even the child who was for his First Holy Communion. And of course we are all human and if Fr.Gates can't understand the meaning of human well what do you think the people are up in arms about demanding for him to be removed from this parish. The sooner the better. That would be the best an peaceful reward this parish needs. But then again he has the neck to come back as if nothing has happened. He,s the type of person who thinks he can tramp people into the ground. God help the children on Confirmation day look what Fr.Gates has caused,we maybe willhave the Sunday world or other media on this day. We hope Bishop Eamon Martin will be coming an letting us all know we will be having a new Parish Priest if not before then.
