FATHER CIARAN DALLAT AND MORE SCANDAL AT ST PETER'S CATHEDRAL, BELFAST.
FATHER CIARAN DALLAT - CENTRE OF NEW SCANDAL |
LAST NIGHT AT 11 MINUTES AFTER MIDNIGHT - BEFORE GOING TO BED - I BLOGGED THAT THINGS WERE GOING TO GET WORSE AT ST PETER'S CATHEDRAL, BELFAST.
THIS WAS NOT JUST A PESSIMISTIC OPINION. IT WAS A STATEMENT MADE ON THE BASIS OF VERY SAD KNOWLEDGE I HAVE BEEN CARRYING NOW FOR 15 DAYS.
On Sunday March 1st 2015 - at 11 am - an hour before I was due to celebrate my 12 noon Mass a very distraught lady rang me to tell me that she was at her wit's end - AS SHE HAD BEEN SEDUCED INTO A 3 YEAR AFFAIR WITH FATHER DALLAT - an affair that included the SAD MISCARRIAGE OF THEIR BABY!
**** By the way I am writing this Blog today with the full knowledge and permission of this exploited woman ****
This lady and I have attempted to deal with this problem internally through correspondence and meetings with the Bishop of Down and Connor - Noel Treanor - but Treanor has let us down and has made it clear that he is not for taking any action against Father Dallat - allowing him to continue to preach from the pulpit of his cathedral!
Bishop Noel Treanor - No action! |
In a meeting with the lady this morning at 10 am in his newly refurbished palace Bishop Treanor told the emotional lady that he wanted her "to see a psychiatrist and go into mediation with Father Dallat".
This lady may very well need some counselling to help her get over Father Dallat who came after her like a predator. But she does not need a psychiatrist as she is not ill in any way. She is a victim of a predator priest!
During their three year "relationship" she spent upwards of £20,000 on Ciaran Dallat - bringing him on "pilgrimages" and even on a luxury cruise to the Norwegian Fiords. But even on that cruise Dallat covered his back by having the lady book him his own cabin while he stayed in hers.
Bishop Treanor wants to make some arrangements, he says, to give her some of her money back.
Their "relationship" began when the lady and her mother were going on a pilgrimage to the tomb of Padre Pio in Italy. Ciaran Dallat - who many noticed had become obsessed with the lady - arranged to have himself appointed as spiritual director to the pilgrimage - promising the lady he would "assist her with her mother" who was elderly and had an accident.
Further "pilgrimages" to Lourdes and Medjugorje followed where other pilgrims were talking about Father Dallat's obsession with this lady. Father Dallat introduced sex into their relationship by bluntly saying to the lady one evening: "Get your clothes off" reminiscent of the Irish version of "foreplay" - "Brace yourself, Mary".
Padre Pio's Tomb |
Further "pilgrimages" to Lourdes and Medjugorje followed where other pilgrims were talking about Father Dallat's obsession with this lady. Father Dallat introduced sex into their relationship by bluntly saying to the lady one evening: "Get your clothes off" reminiscent of the Irish version of "foreplay" - "Brace yourself, Mary".
I have in my possession a 4 paged signed statement by the lady - a statement that Bishop Treanor was presented with, by me, 2 weeks ago. At his first meeting with the lady Bishop Treanor told her he believed her.
This lady believes that she is not the only woman that Father Dallat has been involved with. In fact Bishop Treanor told her that Father Dallat had told him a year ago that he was involved with a woman - but failed to tell Bishop Treanor about the miscarriage or the £20,000 expenditure. This lady is now in debt as a result.
What makes the woman feel worse is that Father Dallat insisted on ministering to the lady's mother as she died of cancer - and even presided over her funeral - much to her family's anger. In the later stages of her illness her dying mother seemed to be aware of the unhappy situation and refused to take Holy Communion from Ciaran Dallat - preferring instead to take it from some visiting nuns. The lady now feels very guilty about causing her mother any pain and even wonders if the Last Rites administered by Father Dalat were valid under the circumstances.
Lourdes |
The lady told Father Dallat she was pregnant for him - her fist ever pregnancy. This lady has never been married. She miscarried the baby at her home on a Saturday afternoon and informed him. He could not come around as he had "planned to go out for dinner with friends". He called after the dinner all dressed up, the lady says in her statement to Bishop Treanor.
On one occasion Father Dallat invited the lady to the Michelin star Dean's Restaurant in Belfast for her birthday and she ended up paying half the bill! Father Dallat had told her: "I have waited my whole life to meet a woman like you".
The lady, a devout Catholic and Mass attendee always felt guilty about the "relationship" but she was convinced that Dallat was going to leave and marry her. He did not seem to show any guilt - although on one occasion he suggested they give up sex for Lent! She is now finding it extremely difficult to practice her faith.
The lady noticed Father Dallat in the company of other women and challenged him about this and even broke off the relationship. Dallat came back to her with flowers and crying and saying: "Please don't leave me".
The lady cooked Dallat's dinner for him every night of the week for years.
In a strange move by Bishop Treanor in 2013 Father Dallat was moved from being the Parish Priest of he Sacred Heart Parish Belfast to be an "assistant priest" at St Peter's Cathedral. This move happened after the cathedral administrator, Father Hugh Kennedy, had been involved in a homosexual scandal that involved both police and church investigations. No charges were ever laid against Father Kennedy by the police.
"Dean" Hugh P Kennedy |
It appeared that Father Dallat was then sent to the cathedral to "watch" Father Kennedy. It now looks as if the "supervisor" was up to more than the "supervisee" !
When Father Dallat moved to the cathedral the lady in question paid for the redecoration of his cathedral suite out of her own pocket.
The lady rang me in Larne 2 weeks ago because she heard of the support group called BETHANY that I set up in the early 1990s for women who have been involved in abusive relationships with priests. To date over 120 Irish women have approached BETHANY.
I estimate that well over 50% of Irish Catholic priests are involved with Irish women and men - and those involvements are very often exploitative and abusive.
Sadly there are many predator priests out there. Two members of Bethany discovered after joining the group that they were sleeping with the same priest!
IS BISHOP TREANOR GOING TO DO A COVER UP?
When this current lady came to me 2 weeks ago I decided to give Bishop Noel Treanor the benefit of the doubt and send this woman to him so that the matter could be handled internally.
I am now sorry I did this. Bishop Treanor would not allow me to accompany her to the meetings with him as her "designated person" which in church practice she is entitled to. This left her very vulnerable."
On foot of this morning's meeting it is clear to me that Bishop Treanor wants to keep Father Dallat in ministry and hope the problem will somehow go away.
Bishop Treanor is already allowing the whole scandal of Father Hugh Kennedy and his cathedral to rage on. He now has 2 priests in his cathedral who are involved in scandal.
On March 5th just past, on behalf of another priest of the diocese, I wrote to Bishop Treanor about another heterosexual predator priest in the diocese - a priest that Bishop Treanor has already moved from one parish to another after a scandal. Bishop Treanor acknowledged my letter saying he: "noted the contents". Noted the contents !!!!
During the height of the child abuse scandals we saw bishops just moving abusing priests from parish to parish where they continued to abuse.
Are we now to see a second wave of scandals - scandals involving predator priests - being simply moved from parish to parish where they hit on new victims to exploit?
Over to you Bishop Treanor!
Bishop Pat Buckley
16.3.15.
DEAR GOD! CALL THE NEWSPAPERS!!!
ReplyDeleteWow! Just Wow
ReplyDeleteThis Diocese is going from bad to worse
My experience of Dallat is that he is rude, hurtful with his words and manner, and disruptive... He has been known to jump between the Altar and the piano in the Cathedral, trying to sing!
This is so sad for the good people of St Peter's Parish
I feel physically sick. The situation is totally untenable now between Kennedy and now this, If Noel can't handle this, he should resign and the Nuncio should appoint an Apostolic Administrator, who should immediately suspend both Dallat and Kennedy. The CSsR's can look after St Peter's again maybe? Maybe Donal Mckeown in Derry could assume temporary responsibility for Down and Connor? In any case, the media should now be told.
ReplyDeleteGood on you Pat!
ReplyDeleteThe more the dirty washing like this is exposed the more difficult it becomes for the RC hierarchy to maintain the secrecy, power and complicity in the scandals of those clergy who let down their caring and dutiful colleagues.
But what will it take to completely blow the lid off the malign influence of the way much of the current RC hierarchy in Ireland operates? Opinions welcomed.
For what it's worth, I believe that only a concerted withdrawal of all financial support by parishoners until some form of independent diocesan and parish management boards/committees (with real powers over church funds/establishments) are established, will be effective.
MourneManMichael
Priests like this remind me of "Six Dinner Sid" - the cat who had different masters and mistresses in six different houses and managed to get six dinners a night.
ReplyDeleteHe also got tickled in six different places !
Bishop Treanor get your finger out!
I stated in this blog some time ago that "predator priests" were a real problem in the Diocese. The Fr Dallat revelations sadly do not shock me, as I am aware of other Priests in similar situations. Bishop Treanor cannot pretend any longer that he is unaware of these matters, and he must take appropriate action, not "kick these matters into the long grass" !
ReplyDeletePriest of D&C
As someone who was baptised, confirmed and married in St Peter's and had my Mammy and Daddy buried from there I am devastated by the fact that I can not to to Mass there anymore and have to walk the extra distance to Clonard.
ReplyDeleteFor me is started with Father McGuigan and his scandal and the things that happened after that in the homeless centre in Albert Street.
Then came Father Kennedy and all that happened. I could not believe it when Bishop Treanor came to Mass and reinstalled him.
Now Father Dallat and what this poor woman went through with the affair and her miscarriage.
The Cathedral is becoming like the dumping ground for all the problem priests in the diocese.
What next? Father James Donaghy as curate when he gets out of jail and Father Danny Curran when he gets out?
One hour ago a fellow Priest alerted me to the unfolding scandal in the Cathedral Parish, being reported on this blog.
ReplyDeleteThis situation is completely untenable. Both Fr Kennedy & Fr Dallat have brought this on their own heads, and now must "face the music" ! (No pun intended)
The Bishop it would seem has had opportunities to deal properly with these matters, and now because of his inaction, St Peter's is in "Freefall ".
God alone knows what is going to happen in that Parish over St Patrick's Day.
If no appropriate action is taken the parishioners should take the matter into their own hands by :
1) Challenging the Cathedral clergy face to face.
2) Refusing to contribute financially to the Parish.
3) Publicly speaking about their legitimate concerns.
4) Challenging Bishop Treanor, including picketing his £3 million residence on the Somerton Rd.
ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS.
Priest of the Diocese.
I absolutely agree with these sentiments. What can be done to raise parishoners awareness there and encourage direct action?
DeleteMMM
HELLO NOEL!!! ARE YOU READING THIS? ANYBODY HOME?? SHOW SOME LEADERSHIP, NOEL, OR RESIGN!! YOU ARE FAST LOSING THE CONFIDENCE OF YOUR PRIESTS! I TOO, WITH THE PRIEST IN A PREVIOUS POST, ENCOURAGE THE FAITHFUL TO PREVENT EITHER DALLAT OR KENNEDY FROM CELEBRATING MASS! AND RUN THAT ORGAN GRINDER OUT OF THE PLACE TOO!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy faith is in Christ, not the Church, so alleged scandals like this one don't rock my confidence in God.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing sadder than the pain of those directly involved in this tragic affair is the
glee with which some people appear to be greeting it.
Pray for all those involved, including those who have failed to act as they should.
"Alleged"? "Glee" ???
ReplyDeleteWhat planet are you on?
What about the suffering of the victim?
PP D&C
Re-read my post. I said: 'Pray for all those involved... .' That of course includes the victim.
DeleteWhen will the Catholic Church openly recognise that meeting sexual needs is a basic human need. Dallat may be guilty of an inappropriate relationship with an adult lady and what sounds to be a vulnerable time for her. However, the act itself appears to have been consensual - no laws (other than his vow of celibacy) has been broken. Is it not time to review the vow of celibacy amongst priests, modernise the Catholic Church and in so doing, prevent 'scandals' such as this. - I simply do not understand how priests can lecture about morals and behave in this way and do we believe that a man who has never experienced (well allegedly!!) emotional and sexual intimacy with a partner is best placed to give relationship advice to any couple?????????
DeleteNone of this pandemic is occurring in other denominations. 'Measures'(cosmetic , too little too late) are akin to changing the colours of the ligfhtboats on the Titanic.
DeleteBishop? And I'm a Flight Lieutenant. Wouldn't you be better discarding all the 'episcopal' nomenclature, trappings and titles to show your disgust with the Whole merry-go-round.
DeleteFr Dallats behaviour with his parish goers is ridiculous, have witnessed this on several occasions and know others who have been at the receiving end of his sour tones, often preaching to people how they should be living and almost having to earn his blessings and services, what a joke! Think its time for Elvis to leave the building ...
ReplyDeleteAnd I think its time for "Elvis" manager - Treanor - to tell him the "show" is over!
DeleteCleric
And if Treanor does not tell that to Dallat - maybe the show should be over for them both.
DeleteI have lost all confidence in my diocesan bishop and administration.
PP D&C
Reading this blog today has made me think that some of the snakes that St. Patrick banished from Ireland and have made their way back on to bishop's thrones and priestly "presidential" chairs.
DeleteWill Dallat have the gall to appear tomorrow and preach to us all about St. Patrick?
"Jesus wept".
I am just thinking that certain members of the Dallat family who took Holy Orders seemed to find it hard to keep "Old Leroy" in their trousers! The apple obviously does not fall far from the tree.
ReplyDeleteRetired - and Dismayed D&C Priest
Very Rev Fr, I fully appreciate the point you make.
DeleteBut you made me laugh mentioning "Leroy".
That was what George McLaverty used to call his manhood when we were fellow curates in Kilkeel 1983 / 1984 :-)
Pat.
The whole Cathedral Parish is a complete mess. A director of music paid huge amounts of money who provides music at only 1 Mass per week, who is not Catholic.
ReplyDeleteAn Administrator who is in a relationship with the over paid Protestant organist, and an assistant Priest who has done all of the above with a woman.
Well... That's a right royal fuck up if ever I seen one!!
The action is straight forward: sack the organist, get rid of the 2 'so called' priests and put a good priest in there, and hire a catholic organist, of which I am sure there are plenty around the Diocese!
Sack the organist as she is a Protestant? I think there would be an equality commission investigation into that!! Surely the Cathedral and Diocese can show love to fellow human beings - perhaps a review into pay structure would be more beneficial to all involved. However, some of the priests should learn to limit their 'love' to ecumenical matters and methods...
DeleteDear Bishop Patrick,
ReplyDeleteI'm just wondering if you would consider swapping houses. The bast--ds in collars are grinding me down in Belfast, and I think the East Antrim coast air would do me good.
Oh how I long to be back in Brussels among all the cognoscenti, who knew what "inter alia" meant.
Please reply URGENTLY to "Chateau de Noel", 73 Somerton Road, Belfast.
+ Noel T.
Dear Noel,
DeleteI was surprised to hear from you tonight. I thought you would be angry with me over today's Blog.
But I am humbled by your understanding.
I have a suggestion.
You move here to Larne.
I will singlehandedly run my old parish St Peters.
And lets sell Lisbreen and give the money to various charities.
+Pat
I echo the thoughts of PP @ 20.11.
ReplyDeleteNot only are Kennedy & Dallat on "trial", but so is Noel Treanor. I hope for his sake he realises that.
If no action is taken in the Cathedral, is he saying to clergy & people alike, that the crossing of professional boundaries, and sexual impropriety by Diocesan Priests, are of no real consequence ? I doubt very much that either the Papal Nuncio in Dublin, or the Congregation for Clergy in Rome , would see it that way !
Priest of Down & Connor.
Dear Father,
DeleteI have emailed my blog to the Papal Nuncio, the Congregation for the Clergy and the Congregation for Bishops.
I do not know what Noel will say. We must wait for his statement which he has released tonight to the media.
A lady called Catherine from the Somerton Road has just telephoned me to say that she daw Father Dallet entering Lisbreen at 8 pm tonight with an overnight bag. Has anyone else seen this?
ReplyDeletePP D&C
Will Bishop Treanor have the nerve to concelebrate St Patricks Day Mass tomorrow in our cathedral with messrs Kennedy and Dallat tomorrow?
ReplyDeleteIf so and if there is a God in heaven the cathedral should collapse on all three!
What a massively un-christian sentiment!
DeleteOn the contrary, an all too deserved and apt comment!
DeleteIf this is true Dallat & Kennedy Both need to Go.
ReplyDeleteSo far neither Dallat or his bishop have denied this story.
DeletePP D&C
A statement issued by the Diocesan Press Office does not deny this story! What does that mean?
DeleteJournalist.
Dear Bishop Patrick,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your prompt reply. I accept your offer to be the new Adm in the Cathedral. After I have celebrated the St Patrick's Day Morning Mass in St Peter's, and delivered 3 P45's to Diocesan personnel based at the Cathedral, I shall be heading for Larne, pronto.
Thank God I agreed to have your house repaired 2 years ago, my benevolent Chancellor ad interim persuaded me.
Warm & fraternal greetings to you on your feast day tomorrow.
The 3 Diocesan personnel referred to above, will be gone from BT12 by Friday, and in the meantime feel free to reside at BT15, my former residence.
Regards, + Noel T.
Dear Noel,
ReplyDeleteLets just do the whole switch on Friday.
I will be out of here at 4pm and will head straight to St Peters.
You could plan to be here at 5.
Will you require me to leave the chapel here intact?
It is not quite what you are used to but I imagine the relief of getting away from what must be like the Bridge of the Titanic will compensate for that.
Your Brother in The Fullness,
+Pat
Have you asked the people of st peters would they want you back pat might be disappointed there
DeletePat, suggest you get "Catherine" of Somerton Rd to keep an eye on Lisbreen over next few days.
ReplyDeleteIf you're to 'get a handle' on taking on +NT's job up there you'll want to be sure none of those special handles goes walkabout!
MMM
MMM :-)
DeleteI will be abandoning Lisbreen and will live in the Lower Falls.
Lisbreen will be sold to a fat cat banker or barrister :-)
But not before I throw a moving out dinner and empty the wone cellar. Can you attend the dinner to represent the atheist community :-)
Delighted to come on behalf of the Humanist community, and thanks for the invite Pat.
DeleteWe humanists value human morality and decent behaviour as derived from reason and respect for others.
As for the atheist community, you could consider inviting, as an act of truly Christian forgiveness, Frs Dallat & Co whose behaviour suggests they don't seem to believe in either morality or their god.
MMM
Why are some priests in Down and Connor NOT expected to be celibate but the others ARE.
ReplyDeleteDo those who have made the celibate sacrifice for 20, 30, 40, and 50 years not feel cheated and taken for fools????
Why the obsession with celibacy?! Carnal knowledge and resultant parenthood are far greater a sacrifice.
DeleteDear Pat,
ReplyDeleteI wonder will Bishop Noel officially abolish mandatory celibacy in D&C, at the St Patrick's Day Mass tomorrow morning in the Cathedral ?
At least we would all then be "singing off the same hymn sheet".
Struggling celibate D & C Priest.
I don' know. We must wait until the dawn.
DeleteIf he does abolish it "Dean" Kennedy will be in charge of the Hims and Six Dinner Dallat will be in charge of the Hers.
When all sing from the same hymn sheet, it constitutes a dangerous consensus, unanimity. Why be a linedancer caught in wee certainties'? And what is your 'struggle', relatively speaking ? Homeless, hungry - or just can't keep the trouser snake down?! The 'clargy' have had their day - game over.
DeleteDear brother Bishop Patrick,
ReplyDeletePlease leave the chapel intact, as I have a lot of prayer and penance to offer.
I don't intend to celebrate a public Mass, as I want to forget the people of this bloody Diocese as quickly as possible !
How long does it take to drive from Larne to Belfast International Airport ?
Please tell your house staff to expect me at 5pm on Friday, and ask your cook if she could prepare a nice Salmon steak for 5.30pm.
Do you have a decent cellar at No 6 Princes Road ?
Kind felicitations, + Noel T.
Dear Noel,
DeleteTwenty mins will get you to Aldergrove.
Im afraid I have been the cook and the staff. Maybe you could take with you one or two od your current servants?
Again I do not have a cellar but there is a good Winemark in Larne and I believe Nicholson Wines of Crossgar, whom you deal with at present deliver to Larne for an extra fee of £10.
Could I intervene and ask a serious question. "Linda" claims her miscarriage took place on a Saturday afternoon. Did she contact a doctor or a hospital to confirm that she had lost the baby ? Given her age, it could have been a delayed period which happens as the menopause begins. Is there any concrete evidence that a pregnancy and miscarriage ever took place. In asking this I am not dismissing the truth of the relationship.
DeleteWise wise words marie moore ❤️
DeleteWhat difference does it make?
DeleteDear Bishop Patrick,
ReplyDeleteYou do like to pull my leg. Of course you have staff, and as for the wine cellar, I'm going to forget you mentioned Winemark ! Winemark is for people (plebs) who drink plonk !
My own Cellar will be decanted to Princes Rd on Saturday morning, and I'll pop a bottle of my own for Friday into the Volvo.
Best wishes, + Noel T.
Love one another as I have loved you
ReplyDeleteThey preach the word Ad nauseam
But they really haven't a clue.
They dawn the pink the red and even purple too
They stock up the charcoal thurible
And recite the rubric that's written to worship You.
From pulpits they preach the judgment day
Full of fancy words and dogma
But do they really believe it? It's impossible to say.
When we see living church, what do we really see?
Lofty priests above His people
While the old beg on bended knee.
"I don't believe the bible, only the church"
I hope you mean the bricks and mortar
'Cause that's all it's worth.
Still priests turn up for masses, on time every day.
But stop and ask yourself this question
Who was the last priest you saw pray?
Words come easily form the lips of one who preaches
But if the words don't match the actions
It never touches nor reaches.
We've Thee truth on our side
We've the power to consecrate Jesus!
But the reality is,
We've the pearl of great price
And are smashing it into pieces!
FOR WHOM WILL THE BELLS TOLL AT THE CATHEDRAL TODAY ? !
ReplyDeleteClerical Observer.
MORAL HEALTH WARNING .
ReplyDeleteClergy & Lay Faithful of Down & Connor Diocese should approach copies of this morning's IRISH NEWS with extreme caution.
Clerical Observer.
Let those without sin cast the first stone. There are two sides to every story and we have only heard one. For what its worth its their own business and for them both to discuss with their Christ above. Also i do believe that Priests should be allowed to marry and if they did, this would not be a scandel. Oh the scorn of a woman!
ReplyDeleteMy Friend,
DeleteYou are making 2 massive assumptions:
1. That there is only ONE woman involved.
2. That the victim is acting out of a sense of scorn - which I can assure you she is not - and which Bishop Treanor could tell you is not the case.
If Ciaran Dallat wants to send me his side of the story I will publish it on here immediately and unedited.
Why are you so sure that every priest would be faithful to hif wide if they were allowed to marry.
Have you never heard of Jack The Lad husbands?
I know the lady in this situation and was very shocked when she revealed to me that she had been involved in this relationship. I wish to ensure that anyone who reads this know that I have never met a more gentle, kind and thoughtful person than she. Although I don't share her faith, I always admired how she loved God and how her faith gave her strength to face the most difficult situations. Please pray for her. Her faith that has always held steadfast is crumbling, the last thing she needs is the story sensationalised. She needs to see that the church do right by her and that she can return to worship as she has done all of her life.
DeleteI'm very sorry but if this lady does not want this story sensationalised why did she have it printed on the front of the Irish news today x
DeleteThe Irish News approached her - not the other way around.
DeleteThe Irish News approached her - not the other way around.

DeleteHow convenient that administration can remove comments that do not meet their criteria in that they dnt hail ."Linda" and trample all priests into the ground. I still find it very strange that "linda" is willing to freely name and shame and supply every intimate detail but while supposedly wanting to remain anonymous. It's a joke!
DeleteI agree - well said
DeleteHoly Family Parish just got rid of two wasters. Now this. How many more to go?
ReplyDeleteA significent number.
DeleteA significent number.
DeleteAnd therein lay another scandal, another abuse of power which was also conveniently swept under the carpet
DeleteSwept under the carpet insofar as a case against one of these 'gentlemen' may soon be heard in court. Another 'time bomb' ticking for D & C.
DeleteToo many 'linedancers' with too many wee certainties in all areas of Life . "We are the hollow men , we are the stuffed men ."
DeleteMay the Lord forgive those who have judged sentenced and condemned our good priests without finding out the truth. Everyone is entitled to a just and fair hearing and it is diabolical what you have sent to the press to arrive sensationally on St Patrick's Day You are evil through and through Pat Buckley. I don't know how you have the gall to criticise others when you have done so many bad things in your life and given so much scandal as well. I support our bishop and priests who are serving the people of God in this diocese and I beg everyone to pray hard against these libellous attacks. May the Lord have mercy on you.
ReplyDeleteYou cannot libel someone by telling the truth.

DeleteThis truth has two sides
DeleteHow can Truth be libellous?! The truth shall set you free. You're in denial. You're another 'linedancer'with all your wee certainties!!
DeletePat you and your keyboard thugs seem to be casting the first stone many times over. You are all shameful. You too are assuming a lot. It is not your business, no one is at risk. The term predator priest is sinful in this case. Have you considered this man was truly in love but also with his ministry? That maybe his calling was true and not one of exhibitionism. Have you considered this man is also a victim and that it is not your place to publish his side. Private matter should have remained private. I pray for both of them that they both reflect and do what is right in the eyes of God. Now it is only my opinion, but I don't see God saying get yourself off to the Irish News...just a thought
ReplyDeleteA priest, or man or woman can be a predator without targeting children.
DeleteYou do not know the full story about Ciaran Dallat but when you do you will see that he was not "in love" except with himself.
Pat, this lady is 51 and is or will be soon menopausal. When she had her miscarriage did she contact a doctor or a hospital to confirm that the she had indeed lost the baby. In fact is there any evidence that she was indeed pregnant. I am not dismissing the relationship but I am querying the loss of their baby.
DeleteWell said
DeleteAgree with you Marie, is there any proof she was pregnant?. Also shes claiming she was having an affair with Fr. Dallat from 2012, funny that, as Fr. Dallat was still the parish priest in the Sacred Heart until August 2013
DeleteTotally agree!
DeleteYou are naive and in denial. You, as someone who prefers a whitewash, betray the victims and give comfort to the guilty - and they run into the thousands by now. Just another braindashed 'linedancer' full of wee certainties, without the guts to break ranks. "We are the hollow men, we are the stuffed men." .
DeleteJeremiah 5:21 comes to mind in relation to this comment: "O foolish people ...which have eyes and see not, ..ears and hear not."
ReplyDeleteOr to put it in everyday terms: "There's none so blind as them that cannot see"
MMM
Ciaran Dallat is no oil painting how could she have been intimate with him????
ReplyDeleteI would be interested to know if Linda is visually impaired ? How could any woman get "turned on" by Ciaran Dallat???
ReplyDeleteYes because that is really mature and Christian to ridicule someone's personal appearance...
ReplyDeleteSo ugliness is a delusion? He's a rough looking gulpin, alright.
DeleteI'm so glad faith is in God an not man or I wod of left the catholic faith long time ago ....an who I'm I to judge I am also a sinner the only difference is I don't wear a habit ....but if our priest fall into sin our God is a God of love an mercy if you repent an make reparation God will not turn you away ....we are living in terrible time each an everyone of us are under attack.....we need to pray for our priests am make sacrifices for them an to bring the rosary an Jesus bk into the home.....
ReplyDeleteSo God is a Catholic? It must be of great comfort to live in all those wee certainties. Why not take up linedancing? - you probably have already!Use a spelling check.
DeleteJust read this and I no the girl who is a lovely person was told about it and didn't believe it she would even look at him he was are priest in the oldpark and wasn't well liked by young and old he must of preyed on her because she is beautiful
ReplyDelete'too many chiefs not enough indians'. ;)
ReplyDeleteThe only way the CC will do something is by hitting them were it hurts their pockets. I live in Waterloo on the Antrim Road and it makes me feel ill how close I have to live to Noel's mansion. Thankfully, the younger generation is able to critically and logically think for themselves and not be manipulated by these power abusing predators.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you choose freedom from all your wee certainties and quit a diseased worldly organisation as millions are doing.but you prefer linedancing?! You're right - the young are Sharp & well enough read to stay away from the Whole merry-go-round.THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE.
DeleteGO ON FR DALLAT YOU LEGEND HAHAHA
ReplyDeleteReligion needs to evolve with time as the society and people evolve with time. Let priests be HUMAN! So they dont have to live a double life. And lesser people will get hurt if relationships are allowed under the day light.
ReplyDeleteThe apex of evolution is to quit all your wee "religious" certainties and stop linedancing! It does not matter how many believe this/that for however many centuries - it does not make it true. "THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE".
