US GAY PILGRIMAGE TO IRELAND

US GAY PILGRIMAGE TO GAY FRIENDLY IRELAND

IRISH REDEMPTORIST'S PROVIDING PILGRIMAGE MASSES

THE GAY COMMUNITY in the USA are beginning to come on pilgrimage to Ireland - describing our little nation as: THE LAND OF RAINBOWS AND WEDDING BELLS.

The first pilgrimage arrives at Shannon Airport in FOUR DAYS time and is being led by the famous pro gay American nun - SISTER JEANNINE GRAMICK.

The Masses for the pilgrimage are being provided by the Redemptorist Order based at Esker in Galway  and at CLONARD MONASTERY in Belfast.

People are saying this is THE REDS WELCOMING THE PINKS :-)

The brochure for the pilgrimage was provided to this BLOG by a Newry reader who wants to be known as "Newry Knuck."

The Itinerary for the pilgrimage is:

April 11th - Arrival at Shannon and transfer to hotel.

April 12th - Mass at Redemptorist Monastery Esker

Esker

Pilgrimage to the shrine of Blessed Virgin at KNOCK.
Hopefully they will be welcomed in Knock by the PP Father Gibbons?

                       and Clonmacnoise.

Meeting with the group - Gay Catholic Voice Ireland.

April 15th - Day visit to Belfast with Mass at CLONARD MONASTERY.

Hopefully they will be greeted by Bishop Noel Treanor?

Bishop Treanor discussing gay rights at Stormont

April 16th - Visit to Glendalough and Kildare.

April 17th - Visit to Newgrance and Hill of Tara.
Mass with All Are Welcome Group at the Carmelite Priory Dublin.
Avila Carmelite Retreat Centre

April 18th - Depart for USA.

The brochure says:

"We leave Ireland with memories of rainbows and rejoicing for the lesbian and gay couples of Ireland who can now have their relations legally recognised".

Is it not wonderful that we have an Irish Catholic Church that is so welcoming to the LGBT community?

  1. Why is this heretical nun being allowed by her religious order and the Catholic authorities being allowed to lead a pilgrimage that is in direct contradiction with the teachings of the Holy Father and the Magisterium of the Church to lead a false pilgrimage?

Her and her cohorts should be turned away from Catholic property - just like the author of this blog is!

    1. The author of this Blog has indeed been turned away from Roman Catholic properties in the past - including properties owned by the Redemptorists.

The "sin" of the author of this Blog was "disobedience".

But as many priests and nuns are sexually active - in both heterosexual and homosexual ways - the sin of being gay is regarded as a lesser sin by them.

    2. Pat, Jesus never needed properties or buildings in which to conduct his ministry. He ministered to people on the hill sides, in fields, on the water, at the shore, in hired rooms and so on.

You can and do likewise. The PEOPLE are the Church - not the properties.

    3. Thank you Father. I totally agree. And, over the years the odd priest here and there has allowed me to use his church - which was courageous of them.

    1. I had heard there were gay Reds - but never met any.

The ones I had dealings with (or rather about) were interested in nuns, widows, unhappily married women and others of the fairer sex.

Incidentally a Benedictine once told me Fr Faber wrote a hymn about St Philip Neri which contains the words,
Oh come to Fr Philips cell,
The youths of Rome know it so well.
While being a funny story I would love to hear any evidence it actually exists. I would not regard the Benedictine who told me as a reliable source since he showed himself a paedophile and sociopath.

    1. Yes Pat, the pink Reds have a very fluid and flowing interpretation of their solemn vows - if you get my drift. They are most innovative you see and imaginative in their understanding of chastity. No doubt you will, someday, encounter some of their casualties, seeing as you have already been hearing from hurt women.

  8. Fr Maurice, referred to above at 17.55, was a nice man, kind and considerate. He personally looked after his elderly aunt when he was chaplain to students. She was elderly, infirm, and a foreigner. It cannot have been easy caring for her in a house ill-fitted for the needs of an elderly person. Father Maurice was spiritual, prayerful, a man at peace with himself. Then he got promoted. In his new job he had to deal with a broad spectrum of people instead of students. Some resented him because he spoke 'posh' and was native-fluent in French, and his family had some political connections in that country. They made superficial judgments based on outward appearance and associated his dry humour with distain. He was never distainful. The bad things some priests did in Birmingham would never have been in Fr Maurice's imaginings, and he was ill-equiped to deal with devious men. I liked him a lot. He was a good priest and prayerful. He would have done anything for his former students and celebrated nuptial Masses for many of them. The mention of his name triggered a sense of loss and made me think also of those other fine priests long-departed and now with God, Arthur Ryan, Joseph Conway, John Hurson...

  9. +Pat, I am reminded of a certain RC bishop in the UK who said his only reason for going to Maurice Couve De Murville's funeral was to make sure he was dead! A different perspective on the man. It will be interesting to see just how far this pilgrimage is allowed to go before some priest or bishop has a dose of the vapours and tries to stop it!! +Niall.

  11. Pat, They say timing is everything. Isn't it terribly sad that this pilgrimage hadn't come to the lower Falls a few months ago. With the former Dean in situ then they would have been assured of a fine musical welcome. Maybe even big Shuggie might have met someone who could have induced him to follow the yellow brick road and turned his head towards the good old USA and prevented him from seeking his future in that great English metropolis.
    A missed opportunity.

    2. I think they should invite Big Shuggie back to sing Panis angelicus at the Offertory of the gay mass in Clonard. His lovely baritone would throb the pillars in the acoustics. The new rector - with his protegé installed at the Big Organ - could provide the harmonies to the melody. Maybe invite "Dishy D" back too, for added sonority.

    3. Pat, did you seriously not know that the majority of the Reds are gay? I thought it was an open secret - certainly most ordained in the last 30 years are gay. There's even a few of them who are quite hot!

  12. +Pat,
The announcement today that the biological father of the Archbishop of Canterbury wasn't actually the man who was married to his mother comes on the back of a report that as many as one in fifteen fathers may have raised another man's child believing it to be their own.
Although this may be shocking to many I wondered if there are many children raised in families in this diocese (D&C) who were not the children of both parents but had been fathered by a priest.
I know one for definite who many years ago was fathered by a priest who came to give a mission in the parish. I should add that the priest was not a Redemptorist!!
He was a Passionist and the irony wasn't lost on too many family members when the baby was named Gabriel.

I've been thinking it's no coincidence that this pilgrimage is being hosted by religious rather than the diocese, since it seems often the case that their superiors are far more likely to agree these kinds of things. I would say that perhaps religious have more leeway across the board but perhaps that isn't always the case...

  14. Re 9/5. 11:42

How dare you call for this mass to be prevented. Did nobody tell you that the celebration of the Eucharist is open to all even an oul agnostic like me.
Since when were you in a position to judge the worthiness or otherwise of participants in a pilgrimage. When did being gay bar anyone from full participation in any act of worship?
Your problem my friend is that you have a closed mind tinged with homophobia and infused with typical Ulster narrow mindedness. To make matters worse for you is that you are probably a catholic whose mind has been poisoned with all the hypocritical shit that comes from the hierarchy about matters sexual and which has, across the generations, caused folk like you unending guilt and an inability to not only accept others of a different sexual orientation but to love them for who they are.
Away you go and catch yourself on.
Folk like you are from another age. Wise up and join the 21st Century and remember that a lot of those boys in black and purple who fed you all that tripe about homosexuals are gay themselves.
Take heed, my friend of the saying attributed to Herbert Spencer. "There is a principle
which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance- that principle is contempt prior to investigation"

    1. Dalriada Dick, the Eucharist is not "open to all". It must be approached in a state of grace otherwise, according to St Paul, you are eating and drinking your own damnation and you are "guilty of the Body and Blood of the Lord".

This nonsense in Clonard must be stopped by Bishop Treanor. It is a parody of pilgrimage by a bunch of jokers on a jamboree of the most ridiculous form of paddywhackery.

"Land of rainbows and wedding bells"? Oi right! There are no wedding bells ringing in any Irish Catholic Church for people aping and mocking Christian Marriage - and there never will be.

So these eejits would be better staying in America. They are a bunch of smart alecs and they think they are funny, sniggering up their sleeves at the Catholic Faith with a bogus mockery of a "pilgrimage".

You can just picture the gather-up of queens that will be on it too. They can all go to Hell. Bishop Treanor must put a stop to it and tell the rector of Clonard monastery to bloody well wise up!

I wonder how the redemptorists in Clonard would like it if faithful catholics were to boycott this year's Novena???

The redemptorist order has lost the plot in Ireland and been taken over by a bunch of acid-tongued fairies and mincing nancy boys.

I am sure many of the great redemptorist fathers I knew in my day are looking down from Heaven and asking God to send a scourge from Heaven to clear these reprobates out of the great order founded by St Alphonsus!

Shame on them. They have lost the plot and they are a disgrace! Lord have mercy on us.

    3. You are wrong Dalriada Dick, the communion table 'Koinonia' is only for those who are in 'communion' with the Lord and with each other. It's interesting to note that when Ham looked upon his father's nakedness, when Noah found out he said, 'cursed be Canaan', Canaan was the off spring of Ham, and Ham passed on the homosexual trait to his off spring because the towns of Sodom and Gomorrah were towns in the land of Canaan. Notice 'cursed' and Jesus became a 'curse for us on the cross so that we could be free from the curse. Homosexuals can be set free, look at 1 Corinthians 6:11 where Paul says that they were once homosexual but were now no longer, set free by the cross of Christ.

  16. Yes let's go back to the good old fashioned catholic church . Wasn't it great when single mothers were forced into laundries and used as slaves beaten by nuns and raped by priests . Young boys molested and buggered forced into silence . Pedophile priests moved from parish to parish and hushed up . Records of forced adoptions burned by nuns . Priests shaggin men and women all over the country . If that's your church then shove it up your arse with a hail mary and a glory be . I'd rather pray with the gays n lesbians any day

  17. Seems like there's a lot more than 9/5. 11:42 need to take heed of Spencer's maxim. If ever there was a case proven it is the hysterical reaction of these posters.
I am not advocating " liberal bullshit". I'm advocating tolerance and understanding of the views and rights of others especially when they come under attack from those with a brainwashed, herd mentality.
All this bunkum about the man made institution of "Christian marriage" and the edicts of all the other self serving organisation, the churches are slowly being exposed for what they are.Self serving!
In fairness, there is an excuse for the Ballycastle tart maker. Coming from here and brought up in this environment I can see why he lacks tolerance for anything outside "the norm"
As for the others, well they prove my point in abundance about narrow mindedness and homophobia.
9/5. 21:56. You really do need to get out into the big wide world. If these gays want to come here on a voyage of paddywhackery- so what! Hollywood mocked us for years, Darby O'Gill and the lLittle People!
Now wise up, get out and see the world, embrace the colourful diversity of human kind in all its richness and try to resist the temptation in future to exhibit your dour, clouded and outdated attitudes. And if you can make that leap from the sad state of thinking you inhabit at present then I'm sure your God will be delighted and Dorothy's friends will be very pleased too!
Now run along like good chaps!

Have one great big jamboree of mixed up religion and go to blazes. We will not be dictated to and lectured to by the likes of you. Those on here who are calling on the bishop to put a stop to this would be best to remember to live and let live. These people have probably paid good money to come here. There are many who come to our city each year and go round all the murals, visit Titanic etc. That's a form of pilgrimage to them. I don't think it's anyone's business how people choose to pray. But I think it's everyone's business when misguided people try to stop others from worshipping. That's the sort of intolerance being displayed by The Taliban. We can't behave like that.
Perhaps Dalrida Dick is right. A little more travel might lead to a widening of views and an increase in understanding. Just my view.
